Jason Matthews: Put an offer in on a £65000 house i was told that another offer had been put in for the asking price and that buyer was ready to go but I was told the vendor would wait until the completion of my house sale as long as I gave £65000 they said the house i bought had had repairs done them i got the keys and moved in to find the upstairs bathroom was still leaking through to the sitting room ceiling and the back door that had been smashed in while the property was empty had been replaced both things had not been done

Adnan Ahmed: I was forced to give them a one star review but would give them an absolute ZERO. The staff here may be polite but don't let them deceive you as they are very unprofessional, laid back and honestly just not worth your time. They tend to string you along with false hopes of properties to rent only to disappoint. During the hiring season a large group of my peers had migrated to sunderland to start a new life, the experience was greatly affected by Hackett property and it's employees. I would strongly recommend against them by using literally any other agency in the city
Joe Cooper: The worst landlords I’ve ever had. When it came to emails or texts about enquiries or issues I had I was often ignored. The only way I got my deposit back was by ringing them and reminding them I was owed it. If I hadn’t had done that I don’t believe I would have relieved it. The staff I dealt with were very rude and miserable. Late to flat viewings and gave me ridiculous excuses to the state of some of the properties I viewed before settling in one. Two flats I viewed were covered in mold and I was told it would be painted over. As if that would magically fix it. The only reasons I stayed with Hackett is because they were the only agency in Sunderland that had single person flats. In hindsight I wish I got shared accommodation. When it came to moving in, the agency took far too long to send my the documents to sign. When I texted them asking for it to be sent, they replied with snotty and rude messages. Please just go somewhere else.
Akhil Sarikonda: We are after a 2 bed flat for rent and after viewing the property, we told them that we will take it. They say they will put our application forward to the landlord. After this, we contacted them atleast 5-7 times and every time we hear the same reply “still waiting for landlord’s response”, and we eventually gave up on this property and started contacting other housing agents. We never heard from them again. Not even a “hey! The property is gone, sorry!”.So, overall it is a terrible customer experience.
Alice Swan: Called the company regarding return of a deposit on a property my daughter rented. Spoke to Claire in the accounting department, who rectified a mistake that was neither of our fault, the deposit was transferred into my daughter's bank account within 30 minutes. Excellent service from Claire, and a good company to deal with.

Robo Kostadin: Just want to stress out there, how these people from this office deseaved us into paying more and a year's worth of council tax for a mouldy ready to fall down property and making us think that the contract was terminated. I'm discussed for what these people would do to gain more and more money and also taking adevantage of foreigners since they don't know the rules here and are afraid. Stay away from these people, there are plenty of agencies around Sunderland that will treat with you honesty and value for money! 1 star looks a lot but there is no option for 0, unfortunately.

I find them to be helpful, fair and supportive. All the team at Hackett, I can't thank you enough for your support and flexibility. Everyone is always hands on to help from Brendan, Haley, Sarah, Nikki, Sophie, Eazi, Claire, Yousef. Everyone is helpful! Nikki particularly helped us tremendously working outside office hours to accommodate our late arrivals. Daniel O'Neill: Do not get your new property with this company. My flatmate and ourselves have dealt with Hackett Properties for almost 6 months. We have endured 4 months worth of building work in our flat without notice, 5 days with a blocked sink, 20 days without a working shower (we had to attend a local gym to shower while Hackett did not deal with the issue despite being aware) and we are currently 5 days without working Internet (We have emailed twice and called about this, but they have ignored our emails)Terrible company that I would avoid at all costs. Please do not sign with this company.

Jessica Mason: Really poor communication and incompetent agent.We were interested in buying a property. Made first offer 28/04. Hadn’t heard back by 02/05 so called and asked for progress update. Was told agent couldn’t reach vendor and had left a voicemail. Then asked what the offer was. Called back an hour later to say offer declined.Then called me 03/05 asking for a revised offer which I gave. Didn’t hear back by 09/05 so called for an update. Again told agent couldn’t reach vendor and would get back to me.Then received call 11/05 saying offer rejected and property now sold.When I called to discuss I was told we aren’t ‘progressable anyway’ due to needing to sell our current property. A position the agent knew before calling me to get a revised offer.Agent also stated the first offer made was 02/05 which was actually a follow up call from our 28/04 offer so clearly there was no action taken during that period. Would think part of an agents job would be to notify all interested parties to get the highest offer for their vendor.I’ve since spoken to the vendor direct and they have told them that they could not get in touch with us to get a best and final offer, which is a lie. Telling both parties that they can’t contact the other when actually just not doing their job. Pleased we never listed our property with this agent to lose out on potential buyers.

Was planning on being a customer, sent off a query through their website on 24th of February, I've waited 3 weeks and no reply.3 weeks and no reply from a potential client, I'd hate to think what their reply time is for a client.To Dean, it was made via a property I was enquiring about renting, and submitted through your site. Clearly it was then looked at, and ignored.

MrRcornell: Arranged to view a property. The day before viewing I noticed the property was sold on rightmove. I thought I'd wait to see how long it took Goodlife to inform me.... they rang the next day 2 hours before my appointment. Good job I checked rightmove the day before and made other plans.
Alison Ogle: Appalling customer service and dreadful communication skills. It took over 8 weeks to get my deposit back (£495), but they were extremely quick to demand money from you. I also didn't receive a full set of keys when I initially rented the property either.The electricity meter was locked behind a fire door (I don't have a problem with that), but to not give me a key to enable me to read my meter caused issues when I moved in.I had to resolve this myself, as the office took no responsibility whatsoever. I was even told I had all the keys when there was a set in the office with the electricity cupboard key on it. I didn't find this out until shortly before I moved out.To blame the landlord for the delay in my deposit being returned, when it was wholly as a result of their incompetence, is absolutely shameful.It took sending a fourth email informing them I was completing a statutory declaration, a request of a goodwill payment as I was incurring fees to have the form witnessed, on the back of an unreturned phone call eight days previously, two emails, and two texts from the DPS for any action to be taken.The goodwill payment was denied, as the refund had been actioned that day, 8 weeks after I had commenced my application. The only thing I did get from them was an apology via email, which wasn't sufficient.This isn't the only instance I experienced of their inability to do their job, so you could hardly say it was a one-off. I wouldn't deal with them again. If I could have posted a review with 0 stars, I would have.
Niall Foston: Wasted our time and resources. Rang up to enquire about a property and was offered advice which myself and my partner followed through with. Once we had everything in place, I rang back on the same day to book a viewing of said property only to be given completely different information. Use with caution.

Paige: Myself and my partner lived in a house that was under Good Life for over a year and it was one of the worst experiences we have ever had. Our 'home' never felt like a home because of serious damp and mould issues that were never taken very seriously by Good Life. If you want an agency that's responsive, don't even consider these. Getting us into the house was fine and that's where their duty of care ended. Over the year we lived there I was told countless times issues would be 'chased up' and nothing would ever happen, I'd have to call sometimes 3 times a week. I eventually requested our landlords details and upon speaking with them directly we discovered much of what we had been reporting to Good Life (who claimed they were usually waiting on the landlord) hadn't even been raised to their attention! It felt like pulling teeth to just get a simple email response at times and some of the excuses I'd get were laughable "oh I don't know if my emails work" for example is just ridiculous. I hope anyone moving into a home under Good Life has a far better experience than we did. I would never consider a future property ran by this agency.

Lauren Louise: I have refrained from complaining about my experience with renting good life homes until now, after 2 months of being ignored and allowed to live in a biohazard.Firstly, upon moving in, we had wrongly assumed the house would have been freshened up a bit (nothing major, maybe just a hoover and a mop) but instead we walked into a house with sticky living room floors, grime, dirt and dust collected in every nook and cranny, holes in practically every wall as well as random wires sticking out of the living room wall. We Alerted good life to the presence of pigeons the week we moved into the rental, it took a full month of chasing the company just to have someone come and have a look and say “Yep! There’s pigeons up there!” Meanwhile pigeon droppings had gathered around the loft hatch, posing a threat not only to our health but the cats as well. A few weeks after this had happened, a contractor was approved by the landlord to patch up the hole, which just trapped the pigeons in our loft, with no escape or access to food/water. We made good life homes aware of this as they had previously stated they would get the pigeons and dropping cleaned up however, they took no action in removing the live pigeons. This meant we had to listen to baby birds screaming for their parents for food and water as well as fully grown birds scrambling to escape as they slowly died. We do not have the proper PPE to tackle such a task, therefore we relied on the contractor good life homes were apparently arranging. It is now September, a full month after pigeons died, pest control showed up at our door one morning without any communication (luckily we were in as we both work full time) and rather than removing the bodies and droppings, fogged the loft with an antibacterial spray, which is still NOT what we were promised. As of now we are still living in a house that no matter how long or hard we clean, never feels clean or safe enough to live in. From this experience I am forced to believe this company has no interest in the well-being or experience of their tennants, I do understand that approvals have to be made by the landlord however something as urgent as this should not have taken 2+ months to resolve.

Will most certainly be putting the house on the market with Pattinson as no other agents we've had out have even bothered with a follow up call, I've had weekly communication with the branch. Honestly couldn't ask for more! Would recommend to anybody.

Syeda Alim: Stay FAR AWAY from this unprofessional branch. If possible, try to avoid dealing with Beth Curtis. She talks about email evidence and once I send emails she acknowledges that there is a technical glitch in the system and then has the cheek to say she’s not received documents that I’ve provided prior to the purchasing journey. Once my mortgage had been offered, they still went behind my back and put the house on the market.However, I’ve always informed them of my updates to ensure them that progress is being made however they’ve failed to log these into their system. Which means I’ve received so many phone calls from a number of their staff as their system has failed to update this information.You can try to be open with communication but these folks actually go behind your back and put the house back on the market. What an unprofessional branch!
