Mental Health Matters, Central Office: what do users think?
Lucy Brennan: Advocacy service isn't great. A letter sent out on my behalf contained at least one glaring inaccuracy and didn't make the situation completely clear to the professionals I was seeking help from - for example, terms specific to the council lettings policy weren't explained, and I doubt that anyone who had never applied for social housing would know what they meant. It was sent too late for me to request an edit.

Jo Mc: What a joke of a service. The NHS is an embarrassment to public service. Rang 111 as 7 year old son has tonsillitis, after 4 attempts eventually got through after 30 minutes. Explained what he had, requested a Dr call back to try and get a prescription, for some reason a nurse practitioner called who was rude and unhelpful, since all the walk in centres ceased to exist its worse than ever, having to drag a 7 year old to A and E on a Saturday night at 11pm full of drunks. Someone seriously needs to look at the service, we pay enough money in to it.

Sergio Petrucci: We’ve been referring people connected to Red Sky Foundation for over a year and the service they receive is second to none!“One day I promise to remember to buy the thank you card I keep writing to you in my head. From the bottom of my heart Sergio, thank you so much for sorting out the counselling (with IMPACT North East) for Mam. You’ll never know how much of an essential role this is on her road to recovery. The work you do in our community and wider is indescribable and I promise we are totally on board in supporting Team Red Sky xx”
Chris Temple: I had my rewind therapy with Sharon early June I spoke with her previously and told her that I had a fear of flying and every time we booked a holiday or when we were due to go away I would be ill. She spoke to me about rewind therapy and I wasn’t sure if it would work or not but I was willing to give it a go if it meant it would help me and I couldn’t believe the results it was pretty much instantly for me I kept looking at Sharon confused and a bit freaked out waiting for the fear to come when we spoke about it and it didn’t. So when it was time to get on that flight I did it usually I would be sat in the airport feeling ill and dreading the flight but I wasn’t I couldn’t believe it. I seriously can’t recommend Sharon and rewind therapy enough it was amazing thank you so much for helping me Sharon.
michael colling: I was fortunate enough to spend some time as a counsellor with Impact and it was not only a pleasure but also inspiring to see all of the great things Impact does both in terms of helping to improve the mental health of those who access the service, but also the things it does within the community it provides service to such as very welcoming support groups, working in schools and providing support to families in hard times. I feel lucky to have got to know Sharon, Lee and the rest if the team.
emily errington: This is a very close-knit and passionate team who go the extra mile for everyone who walks through their doors. I have experienced brilliant teaching on the course for level 3 training in education, I have witnessed huge compassion and empathy from the staff to their clients and learners. Each member of the team has a vast and broad variety of life experience which they apply to help others. The depth of knowledge of the staff here is priceless, as is the way that they use it to help other people to overcome their personal struggles; to make progress; to reach goals; to set goals and feel confident in achieving them. One of the main things I felt whilst learning through impact is that I was set up to succeed and could contact the tutors if I was struggling with any aspect of the learning or work, that the intentions of the lecturers were strong and bold - very clear objectives, very supportive towards all pupils.I feel like impact reached me at a point in life when I needed them most; I had become recently unemployed, wasn't sure what direction to go in, was struggling to make progress or believe in my potential. After being in the hands of such experienced and conscientious tutors i felt like I'd had a fresh start in life, had gained confidence and had challenged myself in ways that have made me a better person all round today as well as the opportunities in employment I have gained.Impact improves the community in many ways, including getting surplus food donations (reducing food waste also) to those who need it most. Emotional wellbeing workshops for children with extra struggles are ran, teaching valuable coping mechanisms and equipping children to increase their resilience, which can be carried throughout life and is so valuable and very rarely taught in schools. The volunteers and staff are very dedicated, patient and determined to bring out the best in every individual they meet, both adults and local school pupils.Staff here are knowledgeable about links and connections; they know when to give information about external services that a person may need - life changing to a person who is struggling but doesn't know why or how to move forwards.During my time volunteering I would have chats with clients who were visiting for the counselling service. It is tailored to the individual, affordable and I have heard first hand how beneficial the service has been to the clients who have made massive progress in personal struggles. The service is very professional; confidentiality is taken very seriously, very trustworthy.the service really is ran by people for the people, and the people are at the heart of the place, giving a better chance at life and in employment, as well as everyday life and how to have better wellbeing. The services provided not only focus on enhancing the prospects of individuals but also of the community as a whole. Finally, I'd just like to stress how resilient and amazing the staff here are, from taking everything that is thrown their way and handling things with such resilience to never turning down a challenge. I feel so much gratitude towards this organisation and see how much potential they have despite already having made such a difference. I'm excited to see what the future brings for them. Thank you Sharon, Lee, Lorraine, Joanne and all the staff at impact who I had the pleasure of crossing paths with.
Big Phil: The team at IMPACT combine the principles and ethics of professionals with the care and empathy of family. They continue to adapt themselves, often at great cost and effort, to meet the needs of the community they clearly love, they provide counselling and family support from their office and local schools, working one on one with families and as part of a team with other experts, organisations and authorities, and they provide excellent training and education to enrich the lives of their clients and friends, as well as warmly welcoming students looking to enter the field by providing experience with clients, guidance and supervision. You will always be welcomed, never judged, and sorry to say goodbye.
Jennifer Pearce Skipsey: Well what can I say....David is not only amazing the way he delivers his class and gets you thinking about the subject , but his interaction with the whole class takes the stress off a classroom environment!!I'm looking forward to carrying on my course with him.Sharon started the mental health course then David is taking over.Sharon's sheer passion to help anyone that needs help with anything is amazing, she is an inspiration, in a world where many people don't get help easily, she pushes for it regardless and to me that's what is needed more selfless, caring ,people willing to help!!keep up the great work Impact 🙂
Corinne Kilvington: This amazing local service has literally saved my life and helped me change it for the better, and supported several people close to me too...and no doubt many others I don't know.
Angela Fleetham: I have just completed a Mental Health course with Impact Northeast. I have a physical disability so I was a little apprehensive when I first started in-case I could not keep up with the class / course work and got left behind. However, I need not have worried; both David and Lorraine always offered solutions to overcome any of my problems. Nothing seemed a chore to help me. They were prepared to go above and beyond to offer support. Both tutors presented the course with such enthusiasm and engaging way. They are passionate in what they do and truly inspire other people. They have helped me a lot to regain my self confidence and achieve something I thought was impossible. Thank you. You are helping people change lives for the better. Excellent organisation. Excellent people. Can't wait for my next course.
Dawn Connor: I have done mental health at first I was nervous but I got very that because of two fantastic teachers Lorraine and David lots of support meet great people looking forward to the next course
