Sharpley Camping: what do users think?
Linda Flood: Great site good clean amenities, easy access to local amenities very friendly ownerService: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Stephen Massey: Lovely site.Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great value …More
mandystompin: Great place we’ll be returning in the summer and David was a lovely bloke and couldn’t be more helpful . It was NYE and we also managed to get a takeaway delivered to the site from Seaham Tandoori lovely food fast delivery thank you for a great stay see you soon 😊
Amanda French: Lovely stopover, quiet location with quiet country lanes for walking. Plenty of hot water and nice clean toilets what's not to like. Thank you for our warm welcome we'll be back.. Amanda and Paul French.
Paul: Excellent campground! The grounds are meticulously kept. Nice shower and restroom, wash sink. I rode through on my bike and camped in a tent. I would highly recommend this little campground.
Neil Armstrong: Lovely site. Nice views and perfect sunset/sunrise. Spotless facilities
Mark Taylor: A peaceful and well situated site with some excellent glamping options. Recommended every time.
gary Thomas: Very quiet site in the country side.Disappointed with the toilet and shower facilities for me.
Paula Green: Basic site, no reception or showers, friendly guy met us at entrance but it's basically a field with a toilet block. Still it's reasonably priced and worth a stay in the warmer weather as its only 4vmiles from sea front.Restrooms: Basic, clean enoughDog-friendliness: Dogs on site
James Turnbull: Just dropping extra gear off for my son and his party, but the site itself was ample big enough they had a Pod heated hot tub & fire pit, vast open play area for the kid's, so everyone happy I believe.
C Q: It's a small campsite in terms of facilities and pitch count but actually quite big with people very spaced out and a large empty space in the middle. There is just one shower but it's a good shower and given the small number of pitches adequate. I was there on a bank holiday weekend and was able to pitch and walk into shower without any queue.Toilets are fine, numerous water points placed around. Flat well drained ground to pitch on.Quiet site in terms of road traffic. Can rent fire pits, bbqs, buy wood so thats a plus.Bonus points for the chickens with the funky hair do.Only advice I'd say to anyone considering it is there appears to be a slightly discounted rate for hikers/cyclists (-£5 which is common across canpsites) but u won't get it through the website so maybe phone and pay on arrival if that's your style. I can't complain at all because I cycled up to a pitch waiting with picnic bench, firepit, bbq and wood.Would definitely recommend and come back if in the area. Very tempted by the wood fueled hot tubsRestrooms: Small but clean and adequateDog-friendliness: Plenty of dogs around and no issues
KX 500 KX 250: Brilliant little place
Albert Dickinson: Very clean tidy site Clean toilets and showerWe had no hook up but David took my mobility scooter battery and charged it up and delivered back to my van next morning we will be back to this superb siteService: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
barbara lewington: My son stayed here whilst on a charity bike ride - he said it was a lovely spacious site, with gorgeous views. The owner was super friendly and was easy to contact both by myself and my son. Would highly recommend a stay.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Trish Jordan: A great little quiet campsite just a short drive from the beach. The field was flat and well cared for. Owners very friendly and hepful. Would definitely go there again
Dan Haynes: Amazing stay. We booked a week in the bell tent. If you are looking for butlins or haven, then you'll be disappointed. It was perfect for us, peaceful and the bell tent and Wood fired hot tub amazing. Supplied with firewood to also cook over the Stove. We stayed up till midnight on several nights and watched the stars and satellites pass us by. Also got to see many shooting stars. The bathroom and toilets are basic, but more than functional and everything you need from a break from the hustle and bustle of the real world. I felt soo relaxed and my children not to mention our dog had the best time. Will definitely recommend and we will be back.
Maegan Burns: Lovely little camp site. The pod and hot tube were amazing! Couldn't have enjoyed it more. Next time I'll be camping, looking forward to coming back.
dylan rodgers: Great little campsite just outside of Seaham and Seaton Village. Can walk to the nearby pub which serves lovely food and drinks. Dog friendly also which is excellent. The toilet block is clean and the shower room is lovely! Owner is very friendly and helpful. Also a fire pit is available to hire which makes things extra special
Alison Whitham: Loved it, the grass is kept nice and short and very clean. Large field and flat with a toilet block and shower unit that is also kept nipping clean. Only 12 minutes from Seaham beach by car. Very amiable and friendly owner, even made a huge bucket load of water bombs for all the children on the site to play with as the weather was scorching hot, not many campsite owners would do that ! There are also glamping pods with personal hot tubs, well spaced out too. In all, at £15 per night for us and a motorhome, we really liked it and would definitely go again.
Patricia Ainger: We arrived with a motorhome, we could not have electric hook up but that did not matter. We found the owner to be very welcoming, and the site was lovely, we even had a sea view from where we were parked up. Lovely site.

Lisa Robson: A lovely experience from start to finish. Amazing hosts, food, cocktails, accommodation all in a pretty serene environment that has the wow factor!
John Peers: Back home from our second stay at the site. Everything was as perfect as the first time - Sue and Mike are wonderful hosts who ensure all guests feel comfortable and relaxed throughout their stay. The whole site including the hot tubs are immaculate. Highly recommend the afternoon tea and breakfast options. The pictures do not do this place justice. We can't wait to be back in July to tie the knot and become Mr & Mrs 💗The Gables Pod Camping Spa Retreat :AMAZING.....we had our wedding at the gables on 30.7.22 and from start to finish everything was perfect and more than we could of expected. We originally wanted to get married abroad but after finding this little hidden gem we quickly changed our minds and we are so glad that we did. We booked the whole site for the weekend to allow our family and friends to relax and unwind after the big day and they all came away wishing they could of stayed longer! Mike, Sue & family went above and beyond not just on our wedding day but for the whole of our stay to make sure everyone was comfortable and able to relax. We have now booked to go back to the site to celebrate our first anniversary in 2023!Also, a huge thanks to:Francis Burn Photography for the jokes, laughs and amazing snaps from our perfect day. Aidan was even brave enough to allow our 2 year old to take charge of the camera! The Auckland Cupcake Co. for the beautiful vanilla cake which was designed to exactly how we wanted and even delivered to the site.Ice Cycles for serving the best ice cream and offering a huge selection of flavours. I think guests were particularly impressed with the alcoholic ice creams! Two For The Road the band who we booked after their first visit to the gables. Isabel & Andrew are amazing, friendly and will offer a huge selection of songs for your special day.We absolutely cannot recommend the gables highly enough and would encourage anyone looking for a wedding venue to go and check out this beautiful site first!
Ricky compson: Just returned from friends wedding at the Gables, we stayed the night in one of the wonderful pods. Sue, Mick and their daughter were brilliant and nothing was to much trouble. From the moment we arrived at 12 o'clock till late inthe evening the three of they never stopped looking after everyone at the wedding. My partner is gluten and wheat free and from canapés, afternoon tea, evening meal to breakfast the next morning they went above and beyond for her.Thank you so much
Chris Junk: What a wonderful place very quiet and beautiful. Lots of things to do . Sue the owner couldn't do enough for us fantastic host. definitely will go again. Highly recommend panda panda Chinese takeaway
Neil Danby: My partner and I attended her daughter's wedding at The Gables and we had a great day made even more special by the non stop efforts of Mike and Sue.Sue was ever present making sure everything was perfect, amusing little ones and directing service.I highly recommend The Gables and will be visiting again.
squirtycheese17: My husband and I stayed her for our wedding anniversary in May and have to say it was as even better than we see on 4 in a bed! We stayed in the clocktower which was immaculate we also had a cold bottle of bubbly and a bar of chocolate waiting for us both of which were delicious. Sue couldn’t do enough for you she gave us some wonderful recommendations of things in the area to do and breakfast was outstanding if I could give more than 5* I would. Perfect quite location, fantastic host and an amazing holiday can’t wait to come back.
mark briggs: 19 minutes from home and feel like i could be anywhere in the county, nice and peaceful, good vibes. Would definitely recommend.
David Linsdell: Had a 3 night break staying in one of the pods. The pod was well equipped and comfortable with private hot tub and decking area. If you want a peaceful break, look no further. Excellent hosts and lovely continental breakfast.
Neil Bastow: I do not wish to come across as the company marketing department, so please believe this is a totally genuine review.I booked the Gables Pod Glamping as my wife raved about it on 4 in a bed whilst ruining the Rugby game I was watching on my tiny tablet. So I booked it before the end of the show.Frankly though, 5 stars is unacceptable as an option. There should be more. We had an absolutely amazing stay, Sue could teach these so called 7* hotels a thing or two about genuine personal professional service. Such a kind and considerate couple you couldn't find if you searched. If your reading these reviews trying to decide whether to book, then stop reading and get on with it before you lose your chance.
Grahame Latto: This is five stars and a smiley face. Five stars and fireworks. GPs should be able to prescribe a couple of nights away to The Gables to anyone wanting to relax and chill. Sue is an amazing host. Breakfast is gorgeous. Woodfired pizza available and I haven't found one better.
Odette Shaw: Absolutely amazing experience Definitely would recommend visiting the gable glamping pods run by amazing people that can’t do enough to help food is fantastic
Christine Bridges: Sue and mike can’t do enough for you. Pods are very clean warm cosy .small site but everything you need for a relaxing time .breakfast perfect.and hot tub excellent.hope to go back when we can get a vacancy.
Ann Williams-Maughan: Amazing setting so peaceful and on the doorstep to amazing attractions like Raby Castle, Auckland Castle, The Bowes Museum, Spanish Art Gallery and much more.
Debra Lewis: Having stopping at pear tree cottage in December which was absolutely amazing we thought we would try the camping pods These were also Amazing. The continental breakfast is second to none Cereal fresh orange juice fresh fruit yoghurt ham cheese all butter croissants endless tea/coffee toast with a good selection of jams Truly an Amazing getawayThank you to Sue and Mike x
David Fowler: Brilliant accommodation lovely breakfast great hot tub lovely host , and nice little pub down the road , thanks Davey and Sandra , hope to see you again,
