The Saltgrass: what do users think?
Andrew Palfreyman: Nice place off the beaten track in Sunderland city centre, friendly staff, outdoor seating,I would have given 5 star's but on my visit there stock of nonalcoholic beers was limited to Guinness, otherwise a very good spot..
Graeme Stark: Warm, welcoming, good beer, nice crowd, lovely real fire. Simply the best Sunday Lunch in Sunderland.Update 14.05.2023Popped in for a couple of drinks, quiet, good beer as always and lovely staff. Recommended, great little pub .
Teresa Lowthian: Bar staff friendly . Cushions and chairs could do with a clean. Otherwise cosy pub.
shaun swinhoe: Friendly staff as always..quality boozer..mint live music..nice bait..dog friendly and a lovely pint of the black stuff
Ian Scott: Good old fashioned pub entertainment on the night I was there
Outdoors Dad & family: Lovely pub, lovely staff well worth a visit.....a proper friendly pub.
Matthew Luttrell: Awful place. Staff were unhelpful and place is bad.
Ian Walton: Sunday lunch two weeks in a row & it was great
Jan Walton: Food ok but barley warm the service is horrendous 😫
Paula Preston: I was recommended to try here by a friend so took the whole family and partners for Sunday lunch and drinks. It was absolutely amazing and staff were so friendly and nothing was to much trouble. Will definitely be going again 😊
paul wynn: Years since I had been in here. Sunday lunch was really good in fact best I've had for a long while. Only issue is service was very slow, which was a shame but staff were nice. Hopefully they address this as we waited over a hour despite booking in advance. Would I go back? Yes I would.
Steve Curry: Proper pub. Great live music venue.
Brian Oneil: Food was nice , however , the other 3 ppl I was with had nearly finished there's by the tim I got my gravy
Andre Meechan: Rang to book a table was told there was no need. Went Monday night to be told they don't do food on a monday.
Dave Rochester: Gorgeous bar, amazing outdoor area.Great range of drinks and lovely food - what more can you ask for?
Anthony Seymour: Best proper pub for miles.
Elizabeth Dupear: Sunday lunch was overpriced also having to pay a supplement for extra gravy or any other meat except the chicken was abit much thought it was expensive paying over £33 for two people fortwo dinners & a drink each
Dean Armstrong: Best ever had...Great staff.. unreal grub....ten out of ten all round...food is 5 star and everyone so welcoming and the tunes are top....your missing out if you haven't been....
Pennywell laundry sevices Unit 2: Bloody lovely food 😋 trialing the dinner menu before the launch of thier proper menu. We tried the platter (supposed to be for one 😳) not a chance one could eat all that!! Massoof! Chicken was that tender it melts in your mouth 😱 and the burgers is second to none, I'm not even a burger person but they are beautiful- the icing on the cake was a lovely pint of club tropy. Got to add the bar staff was great, lovely lad and the owners are brilliant, had a good laugh. Taking the kids back this week to try those burgers 🙌
Vivien Hancill: Went to see the Revolutionnairs and had a great time !
C: Tried one of their sundau dinners today, no booking just showed up. Dinner was served within 20 minutes of being there no complaints about service!Beef dinner and a pork one, both very tasty but small portions of meat. Had to pay extra for cauliflower cheese and only got one little dish of veg to share ( 1 piece of broccoli each) . Yorkshire was dry but the roasties were the best I have ever tasted really nice!! Lush gravy plenty of flavour in veg aswell. No complaints except portion size 7.5/10They have a nice beer garden and sell clwb tropicana! Used to do 2 printers and have a dj outside not sure if they still do now however. Not a good location as its a taxi to anywhere else.

Chris Day: Reasonable prices food great fantastic atmosphere well worth a visit 10/10
Andrea Johnson: Friendly

Alison Hayward: Great building, beer and food. One of the best pubs I've been to, and I've been to a few.
Jane Morris: Good food good staff 100% Brilliant
Bradley Whalen-Griffiths: Fantastic style of pub, unchanged decor in a long time. Great selection of beers and lagers on Draft and Cask. Food wasn't as great as I expected but still very nice, maybe slightly overpriced. Great, friendly bar service though. Calm, chilled atmosphere inside.
Rob Steer: Nice little pub with classic decor
Dave Rochester: Great real ale bar with a fantastic selection of drinks.Lovely cozy setting and great atmosphere
Andy Woodward: Great pub that gets packed on a Saturday night. But has extra seating area upstairs which is a great call. In the centre of everything like eateries. Great selection of beers with friendly staff.
Goose UK: Brilliant pub, good drinks and atmosphere. Great bar staff. Prices good too.
Caroline Thomson: Just had the most delicious Sunday lunch at The Dun Cow, food was really tasty, beautifully cooked and plentiful. The puds were so good too, and a wide range of ales and other drinks to choose from. Friendly bar staff and a beautiful bar to admire while you sit! Will definitely be returning ☺️👍
Rob Patrick: A great pub work a well preserved late Victorian interior and some decent cask beers on. Right next door to tie Empire, got pretty busy after the match and end of the matinee.
John Tate: Old quaint pub good selection of drinks
Susan Collins Smith: Truly one of the best pubs in England with the best customer service ever. Donna is a manager in a million. Great atmosphere
Sean Harte: Canny disappointed with this place. Came highly recommended and to be fair it did have a fair selection of beers and ales. The disappointment came with the atmosphere ... There was none. Unlike other pubs we went in in Sunderland there was no friendliness or welcoming vibe. Just served and sat down. It was fairly busy but just had a bit of a pretentious feel to me, maybe I am judging harshly as other places were really friendly but this is how both my wife and I felt during and after our visit. Wouldn't rush back here.
Bradley Piercy: Great pub lovely setting good priced beer as well again another friendly pub and cheap
Peter Anderson: Classic Sunderland pub. Has never disappointed in the 43 years since I first went in there 😁
ann davis: Love the pub great place
Marcus Norris: Excellent old pub, really pretty wooden bar and great selection of well-kept beers. Was staying away for work so I ate there too and the food was very good.
michael pickering: Great pub. Lovely surroundings and friendly staff and locals. Great beer too though pricey despite Camra discount.
Kelvin Thomas: Great pub, lovely traditional interior. Great choice of ales. Very welcoming, pleasant staff. It's definitely one of the best pubs in the town. Well worth a visit, and sample the atmosphere!

Stavros: Great place and fab atmosphere! 👍🏼I'd imagine it to be jam packed, shoulder to shoulder once this Covid19 has been defeated.Went there with our friends the weekend it opened for some dinner. I had the gyros from Acropolis - definitely recommend! 🙂My mates had a pizza , not sure where from but said they were still hungry, didn't get much for the £££ paid? 🤔Had a stage with live band/music on, although not sure it this is a permanent fixture.Looking forward to returning with the lads for a 🍺🍺🍺 session! 🤪

The Fire Station: what do users think?
Robin Sanderson: Le Vent du Nord provided a wonderful evening of entertainment at this excellent venue. Their brand of traditional québecoix music is quite exhilarating, with toe-tapping tunes and stunning harmonies. And a hurdy-gurdy!
Co Durham lad: Got a phone call today from these, I have just resigned from my position at my Boxing Club, I explained this to the lady, she was quite abrupt, WELL CAN I SUGGEST YOU REMOVE YOURSELF FROM THE CONTACT DETAILS, i honestly thought I had, she did not even tell me where she got my details from, the conversation ended, if that is how they go on, they can only but fail. I’ll certainly never go, and tell people of my experience.
Mick Tone: Excellent service, Charlotte was delightful, food lovely and a great venue. Excellent experience. Phil Welsh
Douglas Cromar: Excellent food & serviceGood atmosphere. Looking forward to my next visit.
Mark MacDonald: Great atmosphere and friendly staff who are very helpful. The food was amazing.
michael walker: Top spot to eat! Great environment, staff were fantastic and the food was unreal! Onion rings were perfect. Exactly how they should be done. Kids loved the desert, too. Would go back 100%
Jennifer Clair Robson: Great food.
Eddie Hanratty: Great venue plenty of space excellent place to see a band. Will be back
Lee Stuart: Superb night of entertainment in the Uber relaxed atmosphere at The Fire Station. Brilliantly designed auditorium, every seat in the house perfectly situated for an intimate performance. The Fire Station: 5 Star Venue, well stocked bar & great food.Ronnie Scott's All Stars: Consummate professionals, authentic Jazz players with an overt respect for the history of the club and the greats who played there.
Christopher Hayes: Great atmosphere. Nice pint
Chris Watson: Went for drinks, service was terrible and staff really unfriendly. Definitely need some customer service training. The reservation of tables and moving people on an hour before the reservation start time must be loosing the pub a fortune.
Andrew Davison: Really enjoyed my meal here tonight and the staff were spot on, service was quick and the food was deliciousI would say the prices are abit wild for what they were, probably on the high end of what I was expectingFor example the green pea and mint risotto £15, add chicken for £2.50 or add fish for £4, I could understand the additional cost if the risotto was about £10 but £15 for basically rice and peas, felt like I had to add something or it would have felt like something was missingOther than that like I said it was all really nice
Suzan: Great place for a meal & drink before a visit to the theatre 🎥
Colin Flanagan: Loved this place. Definitely going to keep an eye to see who is coming. Very nice inside and the venue is small so you always have a good view of the stage
Deborah Gray: Expensive. Gets busy before a show at the Empire next door.
lukemeier The god: Bra ställe fin öl finns uteservering bra stämning innan match.
Karen Lowthian: Great venue
Anthony Armstrong: Great time at the fire station food was great and so was the service
Fiona Martin: Great venue! Welcoming and spacious. Will definitely be back!
angela taylor: Excellent
debs Bland: Bar staff are extremely slow! It was absolutely packed, and they only had two staff on. Me and a friend were stood at the bar 15mins waiting to be served. As for the prices, £10.40 for 2 ciders! Absolutely ridiculous. Would not go again.
