The University is top in Europe and the UK, and third in the world, in the QS Sustainability Rankings.

The University has made pioneering research discoveries in advanced materials, biotechnology, cancer, energy, and global inequalities.

The University has received a £2 million gift from the Rory and Elizabeth Brooks Foundation to address global inequalities, and a £1.5 million gift from an alumnus to launch a new bursary for students leaving care.

The University has been awarded accreditation status by the UNEP, recognised for its outstanding efforts in lifelong learning, and has a Race Equality Charter Silver Award for advancing racial equality in higher education.
