Learn Italian Manchester: what do users think?
Pete Dewhurst: I can't recommend Amedea highly enough. I wasn't very academic and school and have mild dyslexia so reading and writing isn't one of my strengths. This wasn't a problem as Amedea is considerate of everyone's ability and she dealt with me perfectly. The right amount of encouragement with no pressure. Also she was open to everyones suggestions, so if there was anything in particular/a situation you wanted to learn, she would taylor part of the lesson to cover that. A real pleasure to take part in and I will definitely return in the future to develop my Italian further.
Josh Hall: Had a great time learning Italian for beginners. Amedea is a brilliant teacher who makes the lessons fun and interactive. Great for couples as me and my partner was learning at the same time.Josh and Hannah
Bethany: It was a pleasure to learn Italian with Amedea each week. She is a brilliant teacher, and completing lessons with my Dad was a great experience!
Leonie R Price: I bought a gift voucher from Amedea for Italian lessons for my mum. Amedea was incredibly helpful in advising me about different options, offering either classes with other learners or 1-1 lessons. She produced a beautiful customised voucher that I was able to print out and give to my mum as part of a Christmas present, and she was very kind and prompt in all email correspondence. Now that my mum has started 1-1 lessons, she's really enjoying it and can't wait to continue. Thanks, Amedea!
Kate Nichol: I would highly recommend Amedea’s Italian classes. She is a very talented and passionate teacher who has made the classes fun and enjoyable. Most importantly, she has taught me a great deal of Italian (I was a complete beginner). Despite not having the time to do much of the homework, I was surprised how much Italian I have learnt just by attending the zoom classes and have just returned from Bologna where I could put my newly learned Italian skills into practice :)
Tom Cook: I really enjoyed my beginners' Italian class with Amedea. She is a great teacher and managed to make the classes funny, informative and engaging for everyone in the class. I would highly recommend her classes if you have an interest in learning Italian. Grazie mille Amedea!
Fran Coller: As a 70 year old retiree, I decided to learn some basic Italian in anticipation of an upcoming holiday in Puglia. An absolute beginner, I had no previous knowledge and, to my embarassment, didn't even know how to reply on my previous holiday when someone had greeted me "Buona sera" (good evening)!!! My other motivation was that it would be good for the old "grey matter" as my memory is deteriorating and close family members sadly suffer/ed from Alzheimers. I do believe the mental exercise has been beneficial to my brain and I have enjoyed the stimulation of the classes and (non-obligatory) "homework". Amedea has made our Zoom classes fun and is never critical if you get something wrong or your mind goes blank (this happens to the younger students too!) Having completed the beginners' course I feel I now have the confidence to reply when spoken to - even if only to say "Mi dispiace, non capito" (sorry, I don't understand") :) I also have the basics to order food, go shopping and (hopefully) understand directions. But this course wasn't just a series of holiday phrases, Amedea introduced us to the essential concepts of the language such as sentence construction, gender and grammar fundamentals. If you are an older person and wondering whether learning Italian is for you, I would say take the plunge, you won't find a better teacher and won't regret it. Mille grazie, Amedea.
Adele W: Learning Italian with Amedea has been an absolute delight. I started the class knowing no Italian words except for 'ciao' , 'grazie' and 'arrivederci'. After 9 weeks, I feel confident in greeting people, ordering food, asking for directions and have started to build up a good bank of vocabulary. This has all felt relatively effortless through the classes and using books and online resources to complement the materials covered. The homework does not feel like a chore, it consolidates the learning through a related activity. Our class has a really good rapport and lots of humour which helps to build confidence. It is a place where it's ok to make mistakes and learn together. Most of all, the classes are really fun and my confidence started to build quickly. I cannot wait to carry on learning this beautiful and interesting language with Amedea in the next level. Grazie mille Amedea :)
Martin Smedley: I cannot recommend Amedea's classes too highly. She manages to make them fun while you are learning. She also has an enthusiastic, supportive style of teaching which makes it easy to try new conversations. I had to attend a family wedding in Italy for my son and wanted to improve my Italian language skills. The course really helped me to feel much more confident with speaking Italian.
Damian: Learning Italian with Amedea is great fun. I studied Italian with Amedea for over four years. The content of the classes is varied and as well as learning the Italian language you will learn about Italian culture and lifestyle. If you love visiting Italy and want to learn the language these classes are for you. Not only will you learn the language in a friendly informal format but you will also learn about great places to visit and learn about the food, history and people of the country. Amedea is a great teacher and I would thoroughly recommend her classes.
James Dunne: Learning Italian for the last two and a half years has been so enjoyable, and that's all thanks to the wonderful Amedea. She is a brilliant teacher and communicator, and I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn the most beautiful language. Regardless of whether you're an absolute beginner or intermediate, you'll be made to feel welcome and comfortable and with Amedea's excellent tutorship you'll learn at a good pace.
Harry Gumery: I've loved learning Italian with Amedea! My girlfriend is Italian and i knew a small amount of Italian already but now i really feel like i'm making real progress. Having 1-2-1 lessons has been especially helpful as i'm self employed and don't work regular hours. Amedea has been great at working around my schedule. Grazie mille!
Sam Phillips: Learning Italian with Amedea was informative, entertaining and lots of fun. I joined an existing group and found everyone to be really welcoming and friendly, and Amedea is always open to tailoring the lessons to the specific needs and interests (professional, tourism, conversation, grammar) of the group, as well as managing having speakers of different levels in the same class. We transitioned from an in-person class to an online class during the pandemic and even with scores of zoom calls every week for work, my Italian lesson was always a highlight. You learn about Italian culture, manners and history as well as the language, both in lessons and in our class WhatsApp group which was another great opportunity to use the language.I am now able to use Italian confidently when travelling, both in written communication with Airbnb hosts, on the phone and in person at restaurants and bars. It's definitely nice to feel like you're not the person turning up in a country expecting everyone to speak to you in English!
Erica Melton: Lovely lessons both as a group and 1:1. Amedea tailors the subjects to your interests, making conversation easier to follow and helping you build your confidence in speaking and listening. Thoroughly enjoyed the group course and the individual lessons. Can now navigate simple conversations in Italian with increased confidence!
Christopher Davies: Working in the film industry it’s important to be flexible. Amedea was able to meet all of my requirements and went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure I was able to achieve the goals I set myself, as much as rearranging her schedule to suit mine. Amedea is a very kind person and I loved our interactions and her methods of teaching. I will certainly continue to work with her in the future and couldn’t recommend her enough.
Stefanie Patrick: Learning Italian with Amedea has been such a positive experience. I was keen to learn the language due to my fiancé being Italian and I am pleased that I now have the foundations to navigate conversations with his family and when abroad. I work full time as a nurse so although I am unable to make every virtual lesson, having resources and lesson-recordings to hand makes it easier to catch up. Amedea has been the most encouraging teacher, offering support wherever needed. Her lessons are engaging, light-hearted and provide applicable conversational Italian which can be tailored to the learners needs. I’m surprised by how much I have learnt in such a short space of time, Grazie mille Amedea!
S h: I loved learning Italian with Amedea. The lessons were incredibly interesting and varied. Support was always available and thanks to Amedea my confidence with the Italian langauage has increased. A wide range of conversational topics were covered that are incredibly useful for when you are in Italy. As a fellow teacher and novice to the Italian language I loved Amedea's patience and understanding with all lessons being an enjoyable well humoured experience. I would definitely recommend Amedea as she has inspired me to continue my Italian journey. Grazie mille Amedea.
Emma Boyle: As a busy mum and self employed photographer, Amedea was fantastic in helping me learn Italian for my up and coming birthday trip to Rome. I did an intense 1-2-1 course which gave me the basics for my trip. Absolutely loved the lessons and was super pleased that I could order coffee, pastries and of course wine/Prosecco in Rome. Grazie Emma x
Rod B: A delight to learn Italian. Amedea makes the whole experience fun, challenges you, but also allows you the time to learn at your own pace.As a small group, we quickly grasped the basics of building short phrases and sentences, learning together and making mistakes together. That's how we improved. I really have benefitted from these classes, and will jump back in as soon as I can.
Hannah Malesa: Amedea is a fantastic teacher and has provided me with the foundations of conversation in a very short time. I took on the 1:1 lessons at the beginning of my maternity time which has been challenging with a new baby however Amedea has made every effort to accommodate times I have needed for lessons and made each one personal and relevant to my needs! Thanks so much 🙏🏼
Christina Nicolaou: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueWhat a great pleasure having to meet and study with this wonderful person!! Amedea is great at what she's doing! Always there to help and makes the lessons easy to understand with a professional and fun way.

La Academia: what do users think?
Hayley Edelmann: Fantastic! La Academia provide star quality home tutoring services to suit your requirements. This is the third time I’ve used one of their tutors and the third Maths GCSE pass in my house. So thankful to Sanjiv for picking up the pieces and getting my son through his Maths GCSE resit with a nice grade. Highly recommend them.
Arwen Cariss: Cannot recommend La Acedamia highly enough! Both Allyson & Diana have tutored my son and have been nothing short of amazing. We tried a cheaper online tutor before coming here but it just didn’t work for us. The sessions have been worth every penny and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.
fabio mazzieri: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueGreat language school and teachers. Highly recommend!
Steph Niven: My 5 year old has been continuing his Spanish lessons with Silvi via Zoom and he really enjoys them. Am so happy he can continue with his lessons during lockdown as it adds some normality to his routine. Silvi makes the lessons fun and engaging and keeps his attention for the duration of the lesson, I would thoroughly recommend :)
Rakhi Sinha: My five-year-old has been having lessons with Silvi from La Academia since spring 2020. She's an excellent teacher, even though lessons are virtual, she engages him with creative and interactive classes that are pitched just right for his age and ability.
Gemma Edwards: I have been going to La Academia for a couple of years now, and find it great, I really enjoy it and people are so friendly. Since we have gone to zoom due to the situation, it has been so well organised and the communication is fantastic from the staff at La Academia. The prices are very reasonable and affordable. I can highly recommend La Acadmia!
Jessica Ellis: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueReally enjoyed doing my Spanish lessons. Saray was brilliant, made the classes enjoyable and fun to learn. Will be back in the future 😊
Jenny Crye: My 6 year old daughter has really enjoyed her Spanish lessons with Andrea in school and it was great that they could continue virtually during lockdown. Andrea is really good at keeping the lessons fun and engaging for the children. Would highly recommend. Thank you!
tara munir: My daughter has loved Andreas Spanish lessons both face to face and zoom classes during lockdown, which have been a great way for her to remain in contact with school friends. Class activities are fun, Andrea is very friendly and brilliant with the children. Thank you!
Al Clay: Andrea our teacher, has excelled during this difficult time of Covid 19...She has run her Zoom lessons professionally and sympathetically ..my daughter has remained engaged and enthusiastic and is learning very well .The lessons are fun and as personal as those usually in their classroom. I can highly recommend La Academia language courses to anyone looking for a straightforward ,fun and clear way to learn Spanish x
Andrew Kliman: My daughter absolutely loves Spanish with Silvi and can't wait for Monday morning Spanish class at nursery. She uses her Spanish all around the house and can't wait to go on holiday to Spain.
Claire Huntington: Silvi has been teaching Spanish to our Footprints children for at least 10 years! She provides fun and engaging Spanish sessions which involve all the children. The children are always happy and full of enthusiasm when she arrives at nursery. The parents are very impressed with the way their children learn Spanish and they always perform a Spanish song at their Graduation ceremony.Silvi is always smiling and friendly with all staff and we value her dedication to our children.Thank youOperations DirectorFootprints Day Nursery
Carolien de Visser: I have been teaching Dutch at la Academia and I find the language school a fantastic place to teach. The staff are very kind and caring and there is a family athmosphere amongst the other teachers that work there. The rooms are intimate and comfortable and offer a pleasant athmosphere to teach one on one or in a group. I can advice anyone who is looking to learn a new language to try La Academia, you will succeed!!
Chris Underwood: My daughter Olivia had failed her maths functional skills 4 times. .We were really beginning to give up hope, when someone put me in touch with La Academia.Andrea was fantastic and acted really quickly in suggesting a tutor she thought would be able to help Olivia. We had 10 lessons with Katarina and she was fantastic, very professional and patient. .Olivia really enjoyed her maths tuition & I am very pleased to report she passed her exam...we are so grateful to La Academia and could strongly recommend them to anyone who struggles with maths
Harry M: Started course with excellent teacher then told by a student that the next 6 weeks that we paid for in advance wouldn't be viable as course numbers had dropped. Left in mid air .Should have been told by management . Their option was private lessons which were costly then put on a waiting list for the earliest course starting a few months later . None of us bothered .
Lisa Darbyshire: I have been learning Spanish with Valentina at La Academia since September, i cannot fault their service at all, it has been fantastic since day one. Staff are very patient and do a great job in group classes, making sure all students are getting involved and are becoming more confident each lesson.
Martin Lowe: My daughter has been learning Spanish with Silvi for 8 years. Silvi always makes the lessons fun and my daughter's development has been phenomenal. She recently worked on a GCSE mock exam, several years before she will be taking her GCSEs in school and I was in awe of how well she did.Silvi, Ruben and all the staff are so friendly and welcoming, I couldn't recommend La Acadamia highly enough!
Christopher Curtis: I've been a student at L'academia on and off since 2008 and could not recommend it highly enough. All the teachers are extremely friendly and accommodating. I have had the same teacher now for 2/3 years, Sonia, and she's fantastic! The lessons are always fun, and tailored to my needs. They also have group classes but my own diary made it difficult to attend, but they are also fun, but my 1to1 classes have definitely improved my abilities as a Spanish speaker. I've recently moved away but I'm hoping to organise Skype classes still using them, rather than seeking an alternative.Overall great value for the accessibility, knowledge and flexibility they afford!
Karen Kirby: Most positive experience, my son George had Jessica as his tutor for English GCSE this year.George has, aspergers and previously had been very let down by our education system.Jessica was very encouraging and patient even reassuring George when he felt he wasn't doing so well. He has just got his results today and got A in his English language GCSE. Many thanks Jessica and la acadaemia.one very proud mum.
Neil Brighton: I've been having spanish lessons with Tannia for six months and she has been great. I had some basic spanish before we started but Tannia has helped me become much more fluent in speaking as well as improving my grammar. I've also had a few lessons with other members of the the team and they are all friendly and helpful.
Michael Graham: Great environment for anyone who would enjoy learning a new language. I had Natalie for German lessons - can't praise her enough! Very easy to get along with and manages to make a very complicated language easy to understand! I'll be booking more lessons in the future.
