Nat: This is not immediate rental. You have to upload your ID 3 days ahead and cannot cancel later than 6 hours ahead, even when you've just booked for 30min from now. No one at B&q helps, and Hertz doesn't answer their phone. Total waste of time and money.
Jonny Sture: Would give 0 stars if possible. Booked a van, got email and text confirmation, so far so good. Turned up, completed shopping at B&Q then got a text after paying for everything to say the van wasnt available. Called up to ask for a replacement and was told there was no van and nothing they could do. Total sh*t show. Use a more reliable competitor

Rentals always fair and at worse the occasional annoying Adblue light, but the customer service can vary widely—today, I had a 20+ minute wait with hardly any acknowledgement and in spite of three staff being around. Frustrating—and it'll never be better than 3 Stars as they are.

However, I am leaving this review here to give an opportunity to the company to improve their policies towards being more compassionate to their costumers and creat more flexible and reasonable solutions, and hopefully someone can benefit in the future.I had a car breakdown and my lease company organised a replacement car with this company. When a staff member came to pick me up I was advised they needed my physical debit card so that they could take a deposit, in case I got fined, for example. Unfortunately with the stress of the situation I left home without my wallet. I tried to suggest different ways to make sure I would pay for anything that I would be accountable for (e.g. provide card details over the phone when I got home, go home to pick up the wallet, return the next day with the card as it was nearly the end of their working day). The staff member stated he was feeling bad for me but due to policy they couldn’t do anything. So I was left without a solution. I asked to speak with the manager, which was denied, with the allegation that the manager was busy with another costumer and they couldn’t do anything anyway. I became emotional and I said that people trust me with their lives in my job so I felt disappointed that I was not being trusted with a car. To what the staff member said that I should know how important the policies are, considering the type of organisation that I work for. Taking in this unfortunate comment of the staff member, please allow me to say that the policies I work with are there to help people’s lives and if there is a case where they would not serve people’s best interest we go above and beyond to make sure our focus is in getting the best care possible. You may wish to consider discussing about other ways to ensure your business is safe and your costumer needs are met, I am sure you will be able to find a balanced solution. …After some minutes, the staff member called me to say that they really felt sorry for me and offered a taxi ride to take me home, to what I showed my appreciation and felt more dignified, even though that wouldn’t solve the problem of not having a car to allow me to go to work on the following day and get there on time. I have politely declined the offer, as fortunately, just before their call, the services centre where my car was being repaired managed to provide me with a replacement car that day, as someone had just returned their courtesy car earlier than expected. I hope you take this opportunity to improve your services. Kind regards.

S ali T Jafari: Avoid this Branch.i've hired a VAN for several times,i've paid £ 25 per day for the excess cover,but when i took the van bach and told them that i've had an accident he said you have to pat the £1150 excess i said i've excess cover but he said you did not take the excess cover at the start of your hire but they were happy to cover me and charged mefor 4 days of cover,he said will pay you back the £100 but then they have charged me £1050.i'm currently getting legal advice to cover this unfair charge.AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Adam Stephenson: I’ve never wrote a review in my life but need to warn others about these cowboys!! If there was a 0 star rating they would get it. My car broke down and Range Rover didn’t have any available so they gave me a car from these guys. It was raining at handover and their closing time so handover was rushed by them, I drive the car once during the hire and dropped it off at the dealership as requested. 6 weeks later I get a letter saying I’ve damaged the car and that a screw was found in the tyre. £260 penalty. I immediately called to dispute this as I did look around the car when I dropped it off, no flat tyre at all and no indication from the car that it had a flat tyre. The woman on the phone was ridiculously rude and patronising as I asked for evidence, they said they would email me. Email came through with no text whatsoever and a few photos attached. Photo of a flat tyre with a nail in, taken somewhere totally different than the place I left it. Emailed back to dispute, didn’t even have the decency to respond then took the money out my account. Called to complain again, rude and patronising customer service saying they’ll call back once investigated and still no response. Absolute cowboys, be warned. I would never take a car from these guys, even when it’s free through the AA.

Griffin Varghese: SUMMARY: This is daylight robbery people!PLOT: This is a classic “3 Spiderman” meme.The customer service and call centre are integrated. They are unfortunately not empowered. I should have had my doubts when the customer service team’s answer would always begin (or end) with “depends on the store”.In my specific example: I hired the car for 2 days but when it came to billing I was charged for 4 days. (We are all human. We make mistakes). Under the guise of “investigation” the customer team dropped in a mail to the store. After “7 days” become “7 working days” plus “8 more days” (that was one hilarious call. Oh my misery) I got a mail that an amount will be credited to your account. No further details or breakup. WITH NO INVOICE. Would you believe that? How can you not give an invoice in business?Called them back again. Again someone new answered. They promised to re-open the case and agreed to an invoice in 24-48 hours. I waited patiently for more than 48 hours (and which brings us to today).The system had “automatically” changed the status to “closed” because of which no invoice would be generated and no action had been taken on the mail previously sent. (To be honest I have lost track of count of calls and emails).The contact centre supervisor went through the case and confirmed that the store had agreed it was a wrong calculation. Remember the same store who “knew”, without any proof, that I took it for 4 days. (It’s like a judge asking the criminal if they had committed a crime). They had reduced it to 3 days. (Now here is my problem: I had got in touch with the store earlier who clarified it as 2 days (and not 4 days)).But I guess in internal communications “stuff happens”.So as I write, all I am left to wonder is How many people are getting scammed unwittingly? Which kind of business refuses to give invoices on refunds? MORE IMPORTANTLY why am I writing this review when they’ll only respond as “depends on the store”.On that note, let me block my card. Just in case they do deduct money long after I have returned their vehicles!
Nadia Fernandes: I had rented a car from here for a period of two days but was charged for four. The Stockport center acknowledged the mistake on their end, but said they couldn't change anything from their end because the whole process is centralised. This issue is going nowhere because they're attempting to take us for a ride, but we, knowing full well what a scam this might end up being, documented every single thing.Every time I reach out to the customer care center they respond saying "the status shows that our system has closed this case because it is resolved" even though nothing has been resolved and I haven't got my money back yet! I've had to call the call centre every two days and nothing is being done!Worst customer service ever! They're clearly not even trying to solve this and are hoping they can wear us out. Unfortunately for them, we have all the time and proof in the world.Update: Went through a bunch of reviews on here and it seems like Europcar is a bunch of scammers.They are now claiming that we rented for three days even though we documented every single aspect, including a video of us dropping off the car exactly 48 hours after picking it up.This is daylight robbery people. Don't rent a car from here. Ever.

Someone who works called Gary Lee crashed into our car on the motorway didn't stop just floored the car to get away he must have done at least 110 mph to get away anyway the branch has no direct number.

There is no direct number to the Stockport office so it's a office number somewhere in the country or abroad. Over Christmas even though they are open I've tried 9 times waiting half an hour each time then giving up. I've just managed to get through spoke to someone who put me on hold for 10 mins then just hung up.

Deeja D: My car had gone in for repair and RAC sorted a car out for me from Europe car, the car was delivered to me and everything was okay (besides all the scratches and scuffs on the car) checked the paperwork luckily it was all logged. When I returned my car I accidentally left my mums disabled badge in the glove compartment. I realised once I was home and called Europe car up and told them that I would collect the following day as I I couldn’t make it back straight away (live around 30 mins away from them) I was reassured that the items would be found when they apparently “clean” and “empty” the vehicles and would be left at lost property.Next day I was trying to get through to the garage as I was going to collect but kept getting through to customer services and they told me they had no direct number for the Stockport garage and he said your items should be there just go in to collect.I made my way in it was morning rush hour it took me 45 minutes to get in. When I got there they had no clue of the badge and the car was given to someone else!!! So the cars clearly aren’t being checked or cleaned properly before giving to someone else.So Now some random person was driving around with my mums badge which has her face and personal details all over. MAJOR BREACH OF GDPR. They told me they would ring the person who has the car and try to get it back for me and I should go home and wait for a call. A few hours later I had the call to say that they have gotten the badge back for me and to come and collect. I asked if they can deliver it as Iv already made a journey to collect it and that it was their mistake they had just sent it out with someone like that especially when I live 30 mins away from them. He said he would get it delivered as lots of drivers drive all around Manchester to drop off cars. Then I had a call back to say it can’t be delivered as they have to follow “strict” policies regarding lost items. Where was this policy when you sent my mums badge out with someone. I had no choice but to go and collect it again! I contacted the customer service team to place a formal complaint but all I had back was, “Our terms and conditions state that lost property is a customer's responsibility and Europcar accepts no liability for possession left in the vehicle”.I’m writing this to warn those reading the reviews on here, please believe the bad reviews and stay clear of this company. There’s a clear lack in management and training here save yourselves the time and hassle and use other more reputable car hire companies!
Matthew Clark: The RAC damaged my car and it required body work and it'll be I'm the garage for several days, They sorted out a hire car free of charge, I just have to pay a fuel deposit...The car turned up with damage to 3/4 alloys, scratches all over the thing and a bump to the rear left passenger door, so I checked the paperwork and the paperwork states soiling to a seat and one scruffed alloy, there was one bit written in pen which had been badly scribbled out stating "Large scratch to rear left door"I've sent emails to the damage hotline, called them, logged it with them, but the woman who dealt with it was eager to get me off the phone whilst reporting the damage that the car had turned up with, unfortunately my car has been in for longer than expected so I'm stuck with this car for another week and I'm yet to see the outcome, whether they'll charge me for pre-existing damage to the car or not.I was told I'd meet someone when the car was dropped off, but I wasn't, otherwise I wouldn't have accepted the car in the state it was in, unless they took photo evidence Infront of me and sent it to the branch.The previous reviews are accurate, don't trust them.

Mike Frisbee: I don’t often leave reviews and certainly not negative ones. In fact, this is the first bad review I have posted for any company. However, Cooke Bros’ service was such that I felt I had to warn others.It didn’t start off well. I think it’s fair to assume that the operative at their Stockport branch was either new to the job or wasn’t particularly computer-literate. Then the keyboard packed in, which meant him calling two people to ask for advice on how to proceed.This is from their website: Address Verification - TWO utility bills, bank statements, car insurance, Log book v5 etc which show your address or are dated from within the last eight weeks.Documents I produced on arrival at their Stockport: my driving licence, DVLA Licence Summary (dated from two days earlier and showing I had no endorsements), our latest council tax notice (2015/2016), latest Chief Rent notice (dated Oct 2015), latest house insurance document, latest Sky bill. I also gave them my National Insurance number. For the record, we’ve lived at the same address for over 30 years.The Sky bill was not accepted, as it was printed off. As it’s an online account and as I don’t get sent a copy in the post, I had no alternative but to print it off. There was no warning on their website about print offs not being accepted.The home insurance document was also not accepted, as it was over 2 months old. (Their website says ‘which show your address or are dated within the last eight weeks .’)Same reason for not accepting the council tax notice and the Chief Rent notice.From start to finish, I was there for 50 minutes and I left without the van I had arranged to pick up. Complete waste of time, much like the company, in my opinion.Unless Cooke Bros Car Hire move with the times and realise that e-bills are replacing bills through the post, get a computer and keyboard that actually works properly, follow the address verification instructions on their website – or change them – and employ competent staff, then I’m afraid they’re going to get more unsatisfied customers. I use car rental companies 5 or 6 times a year and they are up there at the top for worst customer service.

Paul Johnston: The van I hired wasn't available on pick up, so I had a larger van which I didn't want. Then on return they charged me £90 to 'valet' the cab which had some dog hair in, 20 min job probably!
steve grant: We booked online , make sure you turn up with passport, which they didn't specify, driving licence and a letter dated within 3months with named people on ( online bank statements or anything printed doesn't count) be aware the 500 quid deposit leaves your account instantly and will take about 2 days to go back in . Now we hired a Luton style van , this was at the end of its rental so no stickers on it, loads of dints, scratches. So make sure you walk round slowly and video everything inside and out. Also fill it up yourself as it's cheaper. If you return the van Sunday you have to be there by 10.30 am otherwise there's more costs.

Charlotte Byrne: Came in today to pick up a car and was told my proof of address was not accepted because it was a downloaded and printed bill. I had a council tax bill with me too which was a physical letter which had been posted through my door and they said they can't accept that either as it was sent to me too long ago. What's ridiculous is that in August when my partner hired a car from them they said that same council tax bill was valid as proof of address because it was for this calendar year. I explained I have absolutely no other physical letters and they said their insurance company wouldn't accept this. How a hire company can run like this in 2022 is beyond me, literally every other company that required proof of address would accept the documents I had to offer.
Vivien Lang: Really easy to book online. Was a little apprehensive after reading some reviews but Isaac and Jon were really friendly and helpful. We came prepared with all the necessary docs so there were no issues with picking up the 8-seater MPV. And it was great for our journey from Stockport to Cornwall and back. Beren Hollins: I rarely leave negative reviews for businesses but I’m deeply irritated by this joke of an organization. Firstly when I arrived at Manchester airport they had moved sites but their email directions on how to get there were to the old address.Eventually I found them, no help from there.I had booked and paid in advance for a mid-sized saloon. Unfortunately my plane time was changed the day before which meant I would be arriving late. I sent them an email and left a voicemail advising them of the new plans. When I arrived they told me they had given my vehicle to someone else and I would have to either pay an extra 1600 pounds or get a much smaller car. I had to make do with a terrible 1.2 corsa which was underpowered and struggled to take my family.The whole experience was deeply unimpressive. If they wanted to they could run their business a lot better. I do not recommend them to anyone.
Dominic White: Worst hiring experience ever! I'd provided my flight details and my flight was late, I arrived to the hotel to find the rental office was shut, no information left. I had to stay at the hotel and the next morning (after queuing for more than 45 minutes) was told that the category of my car wasn't available so I needed to pay more. I refused and was ultimately given a van which turned out to have a faulty wiring to the handbrake and was in need of a service. I rent cars on a regular basis due to travel and will never use Hertz again.

Brandy Smith: The car was dirty, smudges all over the windshield to the point I had to wash it again in order to see. No one walked around the car before I left and there were dings in the car and so e paint missing on one side. The receptionist was decent but could have had a better personality.

Super helpful and friendly staff, great selection of cars ( I can recommend a Polestar 2) at very competitive prices.Yes, they moved further away from the airport now, which does take a little longer than the other options available. But in return you get super friendly staff, which are super helpful all the way.The selection of cars, is great as well, which are all very low mileage. At least the 4 I rented over the past 2 months. (I can recommend a Polestar 2, which comes with free Shell charging)The other thing, which is a great plus for me, is the hassle free open and honest return.The shuttle service to and from the terminals is also pretty decent. Nice modern van with plenty of space and a friendly driver which also stops at the train station.Keep up the good work!
Richard Kenny: The car was expensive, old, smelled of cigarettes and sweat, stained seats on the front and in the back and had more scratches and dents on it than a taxi in Rio.Simply one of the worst Hertz branches in the UK, customer service and customer loyalty are close to non-existent. I have been a member of the Hertz gold club for 12 years and a President Circle member for 10. None of this customer loyalty matters, and they are happy to put you in a car that closely resembles a banger race entry that cats and dogs have lived in for about 20 years. When you complain you are met with a blank stare from the staff and management that make excuses for their inadequacy and bad management as opposed to taking it on the chin and resolving your issue.Dreadful dreadful dreadful branch….might be cheaper than most but you will pay in the long run.

Tim McLean: Appalling experience last night and it seems that Hertz drop the ball frequently these days. I am a Five Star Member and Hertz Gold. After an interminable wait for the shuttle bus I was second in to the Rental Car village at Manchester. In front of the the Hertz counter were two large banners instructing gold members to go directly to the carpark and pick up their cars. So, fool that I was, I did what I was told and went out to the carpark to find screens switched off an no-one there. When I got back there was a massive queue and I was at the back of it. First person in queue took a full 15 minutes and there were five more. I protested to the sole person at the counter and she just told me she was on her own. So I walked across to the Avis counter and rented a car in minutes. The queue at Hertz was still there when I left. Thanks to Hertz, I almost missed the kick off at Anfield and only made it by literally running across Stanley Park in the pitch dark.

Sind mit Lufthansa von Frankfurt Main nach Manchester geflogen und haben zusammen mit dem Flugticket (Über die Lufthansa-App) einen Mietwagen bei der Autovermietung Hertz Airportvillage Manchester gemietet/reserviert. Als wir dort ankamen gab es einen riesigen Ärger, weil weder unsere EC-Karten, noch die Visa Karte unserer Tochter (19) akzeptiert wurden!!!! Bar zahlen war angeblich ebenso unmöglich!!! Wir standen da mit Sack und Pack in der Autovermietung (liegt ein ganzes Stück weg vom Flughafen, man muss mit einem Shuttlebus hinfahren) und bekamen keinen Wagen. Mussten noch weiter nach Middlesbrough und kamen nicht mehr weiter. Auch bei den anderen Anbietern vor Ort war kein Wagen zu bekommen , da nur und ausschließlich NUR Visa Karte und American Express... akzeptiert werden! Es war der reinste Horror!!!! Keiner fühlte sich für uns zuständig und wir sind da wortwörtlich gestrandet! Einzige und letzte Möglichkeit war ein TAXI für sage und schreibe 440 Pfund zu mieten um uns nach Middlesbrough zu bringen hin- und zurück!!! Das Taxi konnten wir übrigens ohne Mühe mit unserer EC-Karte bezahlen, das ging reibungslos. Nicht zu fassen und NIE wieder!!!!!!
Richard de Vries: Reseved car type unavailable, even though parking lot was completely full. Only options were at a surcharge. Staff was extremely uninterested, while frequently coughing and sneezing in our direction. It became very clear why Hertz was the only car rental without a qeue, what a mess!

Sofía C: This weekend I made a reservation with Hertz at Manchester airport, in addition to the fact that the person who attended us at the counter was very unfriendly, solving our doubts, they gave us the vehicle with 3/8 gasoline. When we returned the vehicle, with half a full deposit (more than what it had when we picked it up) we discussed it with the person who picked up the car, after telling us that everything was fine, they charged us almost 50 gbp for gasoline . This company seems to me a disaster with a terrible attention. I do not recommend renting through them.
P Nel: Rented a car on the 24th Dec for one day. Returned the car on the 25 th early morning. They now charge me for 2 days and at different rates as the reservation. According to them the car was returned on the 26 th. Even though nobody was at the office on the 25th. Waiting for them to come back to correct their mistake. Original charge should be 91 GBP. They charged me 352 GBP for the one day rental. Car was returned with a full tank of fuel. Stay away from this company. Not recommended and customer service non existing. Will never use them again. Absolute disgrace and total incompetence of staff. Opened a case with my bank regarding the over charge.

Jack Oldham: Absolutely appalling service.Made a booking online and tried to collect my car at Manchester airport. Was told my licence and bank card failed their checks - I've never had a ticket and had more than enough money in my account to cover costs and security deposits. No reason given and I was told it's just a simple pass or fail test.Asked for a refund and was told I'd have to call the reservations team. Called the reservations team and was told I could cancel my booking subject to a £30 cancellation fee, when I countered that I shouldn't be charged as it wasn't my fault that I needed to cancel the booking, I was palmed off with an email address to get in contact with. Seems like a company full of people just trying to pass the buck when it comes to taking responsibility.The reservations team member on the phone asked to speak to the woman at the desk (Kim), but she refused saying that she doesn't deal with the reservations team. No sympathy, no willingness to help at all and looked like she absolutely couldn't have cared less. Two departments in the same company that refuse to communicate with one another? Absolutely ridiculous.Avoid at all costs. I usually go with Europcar and returned to them after this debacle. Consider it a lesson learnt.

Luc van Leuken: An employer tried to charge us for things that were never mentioned. Luckily we noticed it. He then tried to brush it under the carpet. The employer got his manager involved. The manager took the side of his fraudulent employer in stead of his clients. Don’t go here or be prepared to be extra vigilant after your long journey.Addendum: the respons of Hertz under here is just for show. Nobody contacted me. Just some empty words to try to give off the impression that they care and that they are going to do better. No wonder their employers scam you. It’s company policy.
Kamil Janowski: One of the staff in Manchester airport was unprofessional. He told what i want to hear not true. Add me extra insurance and didnt tell me about it. I had reservation on the economy car and when I arrived turned out they only had an electric car.
