MCD Planning and Architecture (RIBA ARB Architect): what do users think?
warren lewis: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,Value
stuart marshall: I've used the services from Adam on a number of occassions. He is smart, savvy and knows how to get the result wanted. Will keep using for planning permissions and designs.Very Very switched on
James Collins: I contacted Adam Grace in connection with a two floor, side and rear extension that we were planning for our home. Obviously this is not a typical project for most and is the first time we have had to contact an architect to draft plans and arrange planning permission etc.... As such we were not sure exactly what information we needed to provide and we also were unsure how to tackle certain aspects of the build. On visiting our home and speaking with us to understand our needs, Adam was able to draft quality plans to fit our needs in a very timely manner, whilst using his experience to help us to fill in certain gaps we had in our plans. Adam worked with us in a very flexible way as we made one or two subsequent adjustments prior to submission for planning permission.Adam is very professional and provided a thorough service, taking us through each of the stages of the process and always responding quickly to emails. Adam (MCD Planning & Architecture) has also established a valued network of professional connections who can support their clients with the delivery of such projects, which adds another layer of service to those already provided by the company.I would recommend Adam (and by extension MCD Planning & Architecture) to anyone wishing to plan for a building project. Many thanks for your help with ours, very much appreciated!!!
Hersha Mistry: Adam Grace has helped us with all sorts of building and planning advice - he is full of ideas and creates cost effective solutions to improve spaces both inside and out.
Bhupendra Mistry: In all my dealings with Adam Grace and MCD Construction Consultancy, I have been impressed by their ability to grasp key issues and to lead on and deliver Projects to a very high standard.Adam engages effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and has a genuine desire to support and contribute to team solutions. He quickly gains the trust and respect of colleagues and partners and has always demonstrated a high level of integrity, initiative and commitment within his respective roles.

Bricks and Pieces: what do users think?
Ange: Really disappointed, with bricks and pieces and would not recommend , took money but then dropped off the face of the earth . Such a bad experience, thankfully my faith was restored with another company - I would advise you to avoid
Shaun Kane: Do not use this company, after me paying for there services to come up with the design for my extension they sourced a builder to do the works for me.the extension never passed building regs and for over 2 years I've been promised they would make the job good but now no one replies to my calls or emails
Sharon McDermott: I liked the salesman Paul however, from the on set he encouraged us to give Bricks and Pieces a 5 star review before any work was carried out, which I thought was unusual. Communication was not an issue to start with but, once we paid a lot of money for their services the interest in our little project seemed to stop, which led to many unnecessary phone calls. Thankfully we managed to get our extension built from a very diligent and professional builder. I’m very disappointed in the service that Bricks and Pieces provided because their website appears so positive. Maybe I was unlucky x.
Allan Lochhead: I Contacted Bricks and Pieces due to their excellent feedback on trade sites. Initially I had a phone call with Paul who informed me I will be invoiced £495 for a design consultation and 3D mapping of the property. During the telephone call I was told it would take two weeks to complete the process and then we would move onto stage two, actual submission of plans for approval which was a simple rear bedroom extension. I received an invoice the day before their visit which had to be paid beforehand. On the day of the visit the 3D planner arrived, however Paul didn't show up as he was too busy with other customer! After contacting Bricks and Pieces a number of times Paul eventually turned up for the design consultation which lasted 10 minutes. Paul was actually more interested in the best way to get home from my property! With all the measurements taken I was told they will contact me within a week. Two weeks later I had not received a reply so I contacted Bricks and Pieces and asked what was happening. Their ' designer ' returned my call and I was told that they have yet to start the design! A week later ( 3rd week and after chasing them up) I received the drawings and I asked for some modifications, which to be fair was done within the same day. The final stage was to receive a ball park figure for the work to ensure that it was within our budget. Fast forward three weeks and a number of calls and this still had not been sent! I was first told Paul had forgotten to send the documents, which I believe means he completed this but hasn't emailed it. Days later I contacted the office again informing them it still hasn't been sent and even gave them both my work and personal email address. I still haven't received the quote and it goes without saying I certainly will not be using Bricks & Pieces for any further work as they are quick at taking your money but very slow at producing the work you pay for. Avoid at all costs!
Megan Harris: The architectural designer was really nice and helpful but overall the whole process was very slow and the communication was terrible. We have since had another firm look at our drawings and it turns out that they are pretty terrible with basic measurements being incorrect. From our experience I wouldn’t recommend them
Ashni Patel: Diligent, organised, professional, amazing and lovely team who go incredibly incredibly above and beyond to deliver the absolute best services and products I have come across in this industry. Best firm in Manchester! Umar was an absolute breathe of fresh air, pleasure to work with and a great laugh! Cannot recommend him enough :) Cant wait to see what more this company has in store!!!
E. Hussain: STAY CLEAR OF THIS ORGANISATION.I was initially contacted by Bricks and Pieces after I’d posted that I needed a builder for renovations to my house. I was contacted by this outfit and was told about how they would project manage my build and put my job out to eight of their trusted builders. I was less than impressed as I was left to contact them to start the process. Many calls later, I gave up as I wasn’t getting anywhere and their initial promises were nothing but empty gestures. It looks like I had a lucky escape as reading other reviews others had, had similar experiences.I’m not in the habit of leaving bad reviews but I would not recommend these people at all. Do you own research and find others to do your work.
Jennifer Barnes: We initially contacted bricks and pieces a couple or years ago about extending our home and they have gave us a really honest idea of what was possible, what it would cost and the process. We weren't ready to go ahead at the time and they were understanding- they didn't chase us, call us or pressure us in any way. We have now decided to proceed and they picked up right where they left off - giving us personal, honest advice without any pressure and on our budget and timescale. I cant imagine how on earth you would undertake this project without someone like bricks and pieces there to help. It is outstanding service with no pressure!
Andrew Rayneau: I recently contacted Paul Bradley at Bricks and Pieces for advice on our planned rear extension and loft conversion. We had drawings made prior to the phone call and I was seeking Paul's help on the extra work to get approval. Paul was friendly and helpful over the phone and actually suggested other ideas to save us time and money. He directed us to the people we need and took us through the process on our video call which was free of charge. Overall, Paul is professional and it seemed he genuinely wanted to help us and save money along the way. I couldn't recommend Paul enough.
Matthew Trevor: From the moment we started working with Paul to design our dream house we felt very confident that we had made the right choice in appointing Bricks and Pieces. Our ideas were listened to, we were also given fresh design ideas that we had never thought of as Paul is so knowledgeable and experienced in what he does. The whole package that Bricks and Pieces offer just takes away most of the stress and worry out of the design, planning and building process as its all taken care of, and I really felt like the we were in very safe hands. After a few consultations and a couple of tweaks here and there our plans were ready, it was so exciting being invited into the viewing room and seeing exactly what we wanted coming to life, being able to have a virtual tour of our future dream house was unreal and really helped us to visualise the space. It was everything we wanted and more, there were a few changes we added along the way regarding the finish but after two years since we first discussed the project, we are very pleased with the service and the result.Thank you Bricks and Pieces!
Joseph Gregory: I really liked Paul and the team. They produced good architectural drawing and had clearly listened to our requirements. They have secured us planning permission and a builder that we are really happy with to undertake the work. They were very patient and understanding when we had to delay the work initially as a result of the pandemic. Thanks to Paul and the team!Joe.
Steve Bradley: I came across Bricks & Pieces on an internet search and found what I read on their internet page very interesting as I have never been involved in home extension work before.Paul visited our property with colourful brochures and delivered an excellent sales pitch, telling us how busy they were and that we will be the last clients they will be taking on because they are so busy. It was all very encouraging. Our project was a single storey extension at the rear following the demolition of an existing extension. The proposed design looked good and we were full of excitement however, once planning was accepted we didn't hear anything for months. The lack of communication became fairly stressful and the excitement and talk of the new extension began to diminish.Pauline and Cheryl were excellent at responding to my emails but Paul did not respond to any, it was as if he was not interested. Naively I paid for the ' gold service ' which included finding the right builder at the right price. When Paul started to discuss information we had settled on two months previous I realised how gullible I had been as our project had obviously been put on the back burner.Once I cut my losses I decided to find a builder on a reputable website that finds quality local tradespeople, reviewed by other homeowners. Ironically Bricks & Pieces were one of the first to respond to my advertisement, needless to say they were swiftly rejected.I'm writing this review in the comfort of my new extension and will be leaving my builder responsible for it all another glowing five star review. I recommend you don't make the same mistake as me and pay for any optional additional services, its not needed, there are plenty of tradespeople out there who will take an interest in your project and make sure it runs smoothly.
J S: No, not the most creative plans.I used these guys 2 years back to design an extension. They immediately ruled out building foundations in my back garden because it was 'too low' (not the best communication in terms of why)... bit of a 'no' culture possibly. And the side extension (double storey) - without much improvement at all was coming in at 100k.2 years later and I built a foundation myself on stilts (in the back) and now have a lovely and very spacious timber frame solution with a massive lounge for only 40k. On the side - I simply extended my kitchen with a triple glazed luxury conservatory (keeps the heat in) - at only 1/10 of the price they were quoting. Ok, it's only a single storey - but if you do your own research , think creatively and you are willing to go for more unconventional materials - you don't need overpriced architects, project managers.
Vanessa Harvey: I recently contacted Paul Bradley at Bricks and Pieces about our planned kitchen/living space re-design. Paul was immediately helpful, positive and friendly. He very quickly arranged for his kitchen planner, Kevin, to call to the house for a consultation.Kevin was also friendly and helpful. He had some great ideas that we hadn't considered and gave us some really good, practical advice. Kevin certainly knows his trade! My husband and I are impressed with the service we have received already and are excited to see the finished plans and move this project forward.
Andrew Clarke: Having finally completed a very invasive house extension, I should be providing a glowing review on Bricks & Pieces and their contribution to the project. Sadly that isn't the case.Whilst extremely knowledgeable, this company is among the worst I have ever had to deal with in terms of client service. Communication was a constant source of frustration and ultimately left the feeling that my project, a six-figure house extension, was simply not important to them.Issues were too many to document but summed up by their inability to even provide the details for their kitchen supplier in enough time before I had already set up with other contacts, sourced quotes and ordered. So much for a 'gold service'.Bricks and Pieces could, and should, be a great product and service but ultimately in my experience was an exercise in frustration that could easily have been avoided. Much work required to ensure that their expertise in building is matched by an expertise in project management and client communication.
Nicola Orr: Bricks and pieces came recommended to us by a friend who had a very attractive extension. They were really responsive to my initial enquiry and we were booked in for a consultation with Paul very quickly. I'd put together some ideas and appreciate that Paul had reviewed them to get a feel for what we were after. He then came out to the house and his passion was infectious! He's come up with some great ideas, I feel like he really listened to us and it was great to see his excitement in what we could do to enhance our living space. A great service so far and I'm excited about the next steps!
Deborah Ferryman: Paul was extremely knowledgeable and personable in our informal meeting to discuss our needs. He was able to provide clear information and an approximate costing for the cost of our build. We feel reassured that his company will be able to meet our needs and enable us to build the family home we have saved for. We have no building/trades experience, so being able to instruct a company who will oversee our extension from start to finish, including finding reputable builders and potentially enabling us to source furnishings at the end of the process i.e. Kitchens, bathrooms and bedroom furniture is invaluable.
Jacob Gower: Positive:Professionalism,ResponsivenessPaul set up a conversation. It became clear very quickly that he is a smart guy and knows his stuff. It felt like reliable advice and I can see the value his services offer - and the money it can save me.
Rachel kelly: Weve just had our initial zoom consultation with Paul from Bricks and Pieces to discuss a side extension on the house we're currently purchasing. We were very suprised by the flexibility of the services the company offer to fit our needs and the fact that no momey is being asked of us at this point. There is no question that Paul knows everything about the business and it feels like he really does want to look after us as the client to get us a good job completed whilst looking to save us money at the same time. We ended the call feeling really reassured and impressed.
barry king: after sending an email enquiry they immediately called me back ask my requirements, a zoom call was booked for a few days later Paul Bradley called he was professional and explained all the services they provide. Whilst I wont be using them this time due to project change in approach. I found the services they offer excellent. For a layman having building work done can be a mind field for too many reasons for a average fee they'll help you navigate any project looking after the T&cs , builder, finances. 3 big headaches thus releasing the stress these projects can bring. Excellent and good luck for the future I'll certainly be recommending their servicesBarry , Stalybridge

Whitfield Architects: what do users think?
Lynne Watson: We decided we wanted a single storey extension at the back of the house so met with a few architects before we decided to go with Mark & Liane at Whitfield. When we met Mark the first time we just knew he was the architect we wanted to work with, he just seemed to be on our wave length. We liked the way he structured his quote, it covered all levels of service that Mark provided so you could choose what you wanted. He produced 2 options for us to look at, both were great & it was easy to decide how we moved forward.Mark then ensured the whole process of finalising drawings, getting the necessary planning approvals & structural calculations went seamlessly well.It was a great experiences and completely stress free, they are a great team. Our builders & kitchen supplier all worked to Marks drawings with absolutely no issues and the finished product is perfect, exactly a Mark designed it. I highly recommend Whitfield Architects to all.
Philippa Fernley: I'm really glad we chose Whitfield Architects, Mark and Liane have been great throughout the process of designing our new open plan space for the ground floor. Mark listened carefully to what we wanted and added his own two designs to show other potential ways to use the space. He then worked with us to create the final plan. As this was our first time renovating we felt well informed with what was happening and Liane quickly responded to any questions and explained everything perfectly. The communication has been amazing throughout the whole process and I'm very much looking forward to making the plans come to life!
Daniel Tompson: Mark and Liane were amazing, they really made what should have been a stressful experience an exciting and fun experience, they have great knowledge and will give you as much or as little support you need. We also found our builder through their recommendation and he was also extremely professional and has helped deliver our dream extension.Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will certainly be in-touch for future projects.
cmac group: Our planning request was not straight forward and required a number of amendments and re submissions. Mark at Whitfield Architects was extremely helpful throughout, we would not hesitate to recommend their services.
rory harris: We used Whitfield Architects to extend our property in the form of a loft conversion and rear extension. The service we received was excellent and we are extremely happy with what Mark and his team have helped us achieve. We now have our dream house, with the extension work having added significant value to the property! Highly recommended
Karen Hall: Great service from this company. Really helpful advice with great attention to detail and excellent, proactive communication. Really listened to my requirements and added lots of value. Very friendly and approachable. I highly recommend.
ian milton: After the service we received I can definitely recommend Whitfield Architects. We wanted to convert our 1920's loft into a liveable space, but needed it to conform with building regulations in order to classify it as a bedroom. We spoke to a few companies who all suggested given its limited height it would be very difficult to do, so we used Whitfield Architects who carefully created plans which would conform.Throughout the whole process, Mark listened and involved us; incorporating our ideas to create plans that we love – and most importantly comply with building regulations!
