Andark Lake: what do users think?

Judith Cowen: Great for safe unpolluted winter swim

Ian Harber: We stayed a night in our Campervan. As it wasn't busy, we asked to move up onto the field rather than next to the track. Nice and peaceful up the top with a view of the lake. Loads of water sport activities going on and good showers and toilets. There is also a cafe. Before dinner we went for a really pretty walk to the marina. Lots to see. We also walked down the lane to the pub - The Old Ship - in the evening.Be careful if you have children especially if they get up in the night as the lake is right by the washrooms. My only other slightly negative comment is the road noise. But all in all a good stay.

Carla Harrison: We chose Andark due to the adjacent camping and closeness to home. It did not disappoint...staff very knowledgeable and helpful, friendly too. Facilities were clean and sufficient for a watersports centre and their small onsite camping.Nearby activities: Nature Reserve approximately 15 minutes walk away and River HambleFood & drinks: Local area has a fish and chip shop, at least one pub and a One Stop shop

Lepe Meadows Campsite: what do users think?

Kate Moloney: Campmates is amazing - can't recommend enough

christine H: This was a lucky find. A clean, tidy campsite with hot showers and flush toilets, and open flat fields that make setting up a tent a much happier chore. There is a lot of space, and you could choose to back onto a pine forest, or alone in the middle of the field. Being close to the toilets and showers can be essential, and there was loads of space right byThe three staff members are friendly and efficient, an unusual combination. They make breakfast rolls and hot drinks for breakfast and weekend evenings, they bake pizzas. There is no electricity on site. The hot water for showers, and for washing is powered by generator from 7.30 to 10.30. Then from 16.30 till 8.30. Many tents hired a firepit. The showers were really nicr. Very clean, had hooks, shelves, sink, and mirror. The toilet is chemical flush, clean, but the disinfectant has an unpleasant smell. The toilets are clean and well maintained with toilet paper, paper hand towels, antibac gel, and hand-wash.The clientele were mainly couples and families. There was a very pleasant community vibe. The kids played Frisbee and kicked a ball about. Low hum of music from some tents. Come 10.30, all was quiet in mid-August.And it was so easy to find! No trailing round lanes. If you want a clubhouse, or pool, or entertainment, this is not the campsite for you. Here, the entertainment is hiring a fire pit and enjoying the open air while sitting around it chatting.Walkability: The road to the beach has no pavement so that is an issue.

Pamela Walpole: Absolutely lovely place, grandchildren had a brilliant time, friendly staff on site, we will be back next year, thank you for a great weekendNearby activities: Beach a mile down the roadFood & drinks: Pizza ordered on site, tea, coffee and and drinks for kids

Victor Ochieng': Darren & team, thanks for your hospitality and for the alternative accommodation to weather the storm while we camped on site!Nearby activities: Walk the bridal paths to the beach...for more adventure. Beaulieu Village for ...just beautiful Village adventures.. tea rooms, ice creams, riverside picnics, and National Motor Museum.Safety: Made use of camps massive gazebo tent during windy weather.Walkability: New Forest and Lepe beach easily accessible from site. Beautiful Beaulieu Village 15 mins drive.Food & drinks: Pizzas maden site, for those lazy camping nights.

Mark Bromley: Amazing place kids love it.

Stephen Pratt: This is a very picturesque campsite that is set in quite a secluded part of the New Forest National Park. It is also very close to the small but very pretty Lepe Beach in the Country Park of the same name. This provides excellent views of the Isle of Wight and the beach also offers a number of water borne recreational activities.

Vicki Honess: This campsite is very spacious. Toilets and showers very clean. Staff happy to help and approachable. Location is fantastic! Lots to do in areas nearby. We have stayed in both sites and both are good value for money. Had a brilliant time! Thank you to all the staff. Can't wait to come back, see you next year!

nigel porter: Amazing place, amazing staff, basic camping with clean showers and toilets a few bits for sale at the reception definitely would return

Will Greenhalgh: My 3.5 year old Dear Daughter and I rented a pre erected tent at Meadow Park Campsite for 2 nights, just the 2 of us. I cannot express how much of a wonderful experience it was. The Eazycamp staff really made it with their welcoming spirit. One of them made DD's day by giving her an ice pop. Everything was accessible, clean and welcoming. I'm going to make it a yearly trip with my little girl.

Alpana Chakravarti: Just very well done. Like, super great. Service and facilities, from booking to leaving. 👍👍

Ashurst Campsite: what do users think?

Gordon Kidson-Petlem: As I write, I am sat in the afternoon sun, watching a herd of around 20 ponies, including several foals. We have been here many, many times, and love it. Despite being only 30 minutes from home, it feels like a world away.Staff are very friendly, and actively walk around keeping an eye on the place, picking litter, keeping the toilets and showers clean etc.I specifically wanted to address some of the "complaints" that I have seen in other reviews below.Yes, the ground is rocky/gravel. Most of the UK is. Surely any camper in this country know this, and carries rock pegs? The cheap pegs supplied with most tents are little better than wire.Yes, if you want to use lots of tents, you are multiple units. As with every campsite in existence, they are businesses. If you are in any doubt, as with every campsite, phone or email and talk to them, tell them who and what you want to bring, and they can adjust the pitch fees and size accordingly. The 6m rule. This is, as far as I have been able to identify, the LAW, across the whole UK. The fact that not every site enforces this should cause complaints against those that don't, not those that do. This is done for SAFETY based on actual research, rather than "cos we are mates we wanna camp in each other's pockets".Noise. One or two people have complained about kids/swearing late at night. I have seen the staff telling people off for this, and even kicking people out. However, I would assume that was as a result of the problems being reported, something that complainants do not mention. In addition, there are comments about rail or road noise. I would ask if these people have any idea of the population density of southern England, and also how they travelled to the site.Lastly, to those comments on wildlife, plants and geology: the site is OUTDOORS. In a National Park. That National Park is world famous for it's nature: the trees, ponies, reptiles, insects, squirrels, and the varied terrain. Yes, including lumps, bumps, puddles, rocks etc.

Truffle: Great site. Very quite off peak. Plenty of grass and hard standing pitches.Facilities were clean and plenty of them. Also had a pot wash room and laundry facilities. Never spoke to staff as reception was closed on arrival.Perfect site.

Sarah: Fantastic, friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of space for everyone to find their own spot and enjoy the company of the ponies. But don't leave any food out as they will eat your bread rolls. The facilities were excellent to. We will definitely stay here again.

SouthCoast Flat Roof Solutions: Lovely tranquil part of the country

Dave Pass: A really well run site with spotless amenities and lots of space. The site is 10 minutes walk from the train station with direct trains to Southampton and Bournemouth, there's a couple of pubs nearby, but the main attraction has to be the setting. You'll be in amongst the New Forest ponies and cows that roam the site and are unphased by our presence. The site has dedicated areas for tents and hardstandings for caravans & campers although the ground is relatively level and firm.Showers are free and warm, large washing up room and a basic laundry on site.Access to the New Forest pathways and cycling routes is directly from the site to the south so no need to go onto the main road.Staff are all really friendly and helpful with a well-stocked information centre at the reception.Looking forward to going back 👍

Stephen Finn: the toilet/shower block was clean but sadly it was a 15 second push button type and you had no temperature control, I would have had a cool shower in the heat but not possible. The showers are always hot great on cooler days. Friendly greetings on arrival and constantly cleaning the shower block area.Walkability: It's a forest, ponies , cows, and deer wandering around. Owls hooting at night. Enjoy

Dan mac: Fantastic siteIan and suzie were amazing hosts so helpfulGreat hardstanding pitchShower block was spotlessWild deer roaming around brilliant, will definitely be returning

Alison Tindal: On arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff and by loads of wild deer. The campsite was very quiet, clean and clean facilities. Was very windy on arrival as we didn't realise that storm Nelson was on the way. The staff helped with setting up the drive away awning. There was an abundance of walks from the site and lots of attractions and pubs within a short distance. All camping had been cancelled due to a very boggy field.Food van on site which was open over Easter weekend, food was great.Only downside was no private sinks, only 3 to 4 showers available so if it had been full with the campers that would have been a struggle.Nearby activities: There is Brockenhurst town with nice pubs and some shops, Lyndhurst, Hurst Castle, Hengistbury Head, a drive away but not far, about 30 mins, Bournemouth, New Milton, Sway and endless cycling too. Many beaches within driving distance and little beach area just outside the site which is lovely for the kids to play and dogs.Walkability: Many walks from the site when not flooded by rain. Can walk into Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst quite easily from site.Food & drinks: Food van on site, lovely pizza, cheesy chips, amongst other things but didn't try those so can't comment, very friendly people and quick service. Was open over Easter weekend but would check if open when you make your booking.Noteworthy details: Lots of walking and cycling and very dog friendly area. Does get busy on the trails during busy periods, school holidays.

Mark Lisney: and my kids loved it… great setting with the local deer. Facilities was nice and clean and more than adequate for us. Great location to see the New Forest. Would highly recommend and we are definitely going back in the not to distant future!

Jonathan Young: My first visit to the New Forest and I couldn't have picked a better campsite. Ideally situated for walking and bike rides through the forest with direct access from the site. Excellent facilities and the wardens were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended, I will return 😁

Alex Wilson: . The wardens on site are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The New Forest at this time of year

Geraldine Kane: which is how I like my sites. The Wardens Ian and Marie are just lovely! Friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, efficient, there if you need them and not if you don't - perfect 10/10! The site is well located with direct access to the forest, where ponies roam free, and there are often both red and fallow deer on the site itself. Both Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst are walkable through the forest and you can get a bus at

Janice Batchelor: Lovely campsite, very friendly staff and great location. Good access to new forest.Location: 5/5 …

Jag Grewal: . There are taxis available but they are £10-15 each way. Lots of nice walks nearby straight from the campsite too.Would highly recommend.

Paula Porter: Lovely peaceful campsite. Helpful friendly staff. We came back for an extra night. Clean facilities. The best campsite on this trip

VTW VTW: Stayed at long meadow in our Motorhome 15th and 16th March 2024. Campsite under new management who were so welcoming and friendly. Campsite immaculate. Pitches excellent with hard standing and gravel areas. Toilet and shower block immaculate and warm! Excellent location for walking straight into the forest. Lovely walk into Brockenhurst. Campsite team on hand if you needed them. Fantastic!Nearby activities: Cycle tracks, beautiful river with bridge. Massive herd of deer roaming aroundWalkability: Lovely walks straight from the campsite into the forest. Walk into Brockenhust is lovely!

Lesley Moore: First time camping in the New Forest and visiting Long Meadow campsite. What a lovely warm welcome from the site wardens. We were shown to our pitch and all the amenities and info about the camp site explained clearly.Despite rain overnight, it is a really lovely site and there were even about 80 deer in the paddock, just roaming around, which made it very special. As the forest was muddy, we got a taxi into Brockenhurst but will walk through the forest next time.We have booked to go again in May and can't wait!

george paul: Don't come to this campsite. It's become so popular I find it difficult to extend my holiday because of demand.Go somewhere else please

Lee Marquer: A lovely campsite located in a beautiful part of the south. Highly recommended as a great place to chill out on holiday!

Phill Rixon: Location: 5/5

Grant Francis: I only went there to do a collection but the staff I saw were very helpful and the grounds looked beautiful

Lee Marquer: Don't get to go here often but it's a very tranquil quiet place

Toni Young: Despite a very wet weekend, we had a fabulous few days at Green Hill. The lodge was lovely, spacious, clean, comfy and really well equipped. All staff we met were very professional and friendly. Check in was easy. The food at Ember Inn was really tasty, we loved eating in the dining tent. The kids playground is great. The location is fab, there's so much to do within 20/30 minutes drive, we can't wait to visit for longer next time! Thank you Green Hill for a really lovely few days!

Joanne Bing: The hot tub was a lovely bonus. We stayed when the Halloween half term was starting and although the teens didn't want to dress up and party we did join in leaving treats out the organisation for this was brilliant and the kids were bought round in a group they were so polite and looked fab dressed up! The site was decorated all round which again little touches make all the difference. The onsite cafe/restaurant was brilliant value we had pizzas and loaded fries and all was yummy! I'll definitely be back. 😊

Mike jackson: Me , my wife and two daughters aged 10 and 6 Stayed here for the first time this weekend. The park was amazing, beautiful views with easy access for a family walk in to the new forest. The carvan lodge we stayed in was amazing. Great size and very comfy beds. The site did a kids Halloween event which again was amazing. The on site cafe/bar was lovely with fresh cooked pizza's. We will be booking again

Lyn Rowe: Lovely setting on the edge of the New Forest. Reasonable priced very clean, well equipped, comfortable accommodation. Good base to explore the local area.Food & drinks: Excellent Pizza cafe/takeaway on sight.

The staff was fantastic they were very friendly and helpful 😀 and kept the place very very clean and tidy it was beautifulWell done everyone keep up the good workJust to say thank you Graham for being so helpful 😊 thanks again

The Zombie Hunter Hayes: Lovely little holiday Village right on the border of the New Forest. All the staff we met were very friendly and welcoming.Check in was nice and easy. A nice lady took our information straight from the car window as we pulled up to the barriers and gave us everything we needed. Including a fob for the barriers, key for lodge and site map.The grounds of the holiday village are extremely well kept, so hats off to the grounds team. Our accommodation is as you would expect. Clean, tidy, easy to find, with a little treat left in our fridge. We were located opposite 'Ember' the onsite bar and pizza restaurant. Again the staff were friendly and always ready to help. The menu is very good and the food was the same.Woodland walks, entrance to the New Forest via a gate by the fishing pond. Archery, air rifle shooting, fishing, or just relaxing on the deck of your accommodation, this place caters.A highly recommended stay with kids or without. We will very likely return in the future.

George Petty: What a superb little Jem of a campsite. Right in the heart of the new forest amongst the trees and away from civilisation. When we arrived checkin was so straight forward and the chap checking us in was super friendly and chatty. He told us about how the campsite was flooded and they had conned of areas. This wasn’t a problem and we was made to feel extremely welcome. It’s a great relaxed atmosphere with no set pitches. Clean and functional toilets/showers and a great washing up facility. Would highly recommend for anyone finding somewhere in the new forest!! Cannot recommend this enough!!

Claire Strutton: Lovely place for relaxLocation: 5/5 …

Paul Duell: We booked to bring our caravan here for the weekend, for an experimental first off-grid trip. Although the site was busy we found a lovely spot facing the open forest and there was very little noise. It was quite a walk to the water point but that was our choice, we could have camped nearer! It's a fair trade-off considering we wanted a back-to-basics site. Will definitely come again. The photo I've attached was taken standing right alongside our caravan on Saturday morning!

ylona Rijkeboer: Fantastic experience...so special...a lasting memoryNoteworthy details: Wild horses roam freely across the camping site

Klaus Vieregg: , the sanitary facilities are extremely clean. Particularly noteworthy are the free-roaming cattle and ponies, which sometimes like to roam between the tents and mobile homes. Supply and disposal for mobile homes available. However, there is no electricity on the pitches.

Stacey Burr: What a lovely spot! We stopped off here for lunch, midway through a cycle from Winchester. Delicious chicken, pesto mayo sandwich & tastiest cheese & onion pasty were paired with oat flat whites & a watermelon ice lolly.👌The service was also fantastic! All in all, a perfect pit stop. Vincent Clark: Good day

Charlotte Tringham: Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre! Can not recommend more the staff and activities are great! We took a group of young people with SEN needs and they loved it! We did archery, rock climbing, abseiling, zip line, forest walks and fire building. See the websitehttps://www.avontyrrell.org.uk/index.htmlBeautifully situated in the new forest with wild horses. Some of the young people took issue with the camping beds of metal bunks and plastic mattresses in the lodges, I found them perfectly comfortable, and a massive upgrade from camping in tents. It’s outdoor adventure guys.Highly recomend. The only tiny negative I have to say is the food, some meals were amazing with full cooked breakfast, lunch had 3 food options with a salad bar, while other meals there was 1 choice.

Anuonyam: Went here on a school trip and all the activities were really fun and it really helped with my confidenceRooms: The rooms were quite good and bigFood & drinks: The food was amazing tasted great

Viktor Stockinger: Almost 30 years ago, I went on two two-week language trips there with a group from school. There was only the main building, no camping. The whole area just for us. I have the fondest memories of these two trips. Of course we did regular trips, London seaside, etc., but the base was Avon Tyrrel. I'm currently looking for something like this for my boys, but their teachers don't organize anything like that!

Gemma Maddison: Took part in paddle boarding activity. Instructor Riley was funny, knowledgeable and supportive. Encouraged me to stand up, but wasn't pushy! Fantastically scary 90mins on the lake. Would def do it againLocation: 5/5 …

A little noisy in the daytime because of the nearby A31 dual carriageway, but much less so once the rush hour ends. There's a small amount of noise as aircraft fly in and out of Southampton Airport which is close by.The recent refurbishment has greatly improved the facilties as this site and added the benefit of now being open all year round.
