Lucca Messina: What an incredible place! The decor is brilliant, extremely fascinating. The food is delicious - the Sunday roast is an absolute must, I’m drooling as I write this. And lovely and friendly staff to top it off. Will certainly be returning, regularly.
Jan Gregory: Ordered the Sunday roast to have before watching The Hedgehogs. By far the best roast I have ever had and well worth the money. Friendly, smiley, attentive staff in particular thanks to Frankie who looked after me so well and made sure there wasn't anything else I needed. I absolutely love evenings spent here. Good music, relaxing atmosphere and good food. What more can you ask for?

Pat Banks: Fabulous food, charming staff.
Michael King: Very cool chilled vibe, nice place to catch a drink waiting for the ferry. Nice old pub, Neil young was playing.

Finally came across the Platform Tavern - dog friendly, with treats - and when I saw their Roast dinners I thought "must come back here". Great beer - loved the Red IPA- and will definitely be booking a table for Sunday lunch.
Maria Lodge: We booked a table for my sons 25th birthday, the staff were excellent, food was amazing, would definitely recommend. Love the atmosphere. Definitely will be going back to try a roast.

The Hobbit Pub: what do users think?
Jonathan Bailey: Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Iara Araújo: First time here, very bad experience. We can't hear the bands playing because there is some loud background music playing through speakers everywhere whilst the bands are playing. Complete Nonsense!!
Jhon Andrew: Just an all round excellent pub, full of character history and themed like the Hobbit.
Kai Siney: Been going here as soon as I could drink.Plenty affordable and great atmosphere. Great deals on the classic Hobbit cocktails, even if they've gone through a rebrand and name change. It's a clean alternative pub, with very respectable staff. They lock down on any discrimination or inappropriate behaviour. As all pubs there is always THAT person that has made someone uncomfortable or uneasy and the staff listen and take no abuse to themselves or their customers; quickly disposing of those people and removing them from the premises. The new aesthetic of the pub is clean and friendly, fitting into that alternative fantasy, hosting plenty of music with a great selection of cocktails, spirits, liquors, beers and ciders. Even having a couple of alcohol low/free options.
Ian Miller Photography: Food: 3/5|Service: 2/5|Atmosphere: 3/5More
Perry de Zeeuw: I visited this place last evening with a friend I'm staying over at and it's such a good pub. I love the fantasy theme the pub has going on and the overall vibes are great. Definitely recommended for the fellow geeks out there!Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Harvey Thompson: The entry staff/bouncers are lovely people to talk to they are harsh but fair and ensure that the rules about the bar are followed but also ensure that we can have a conversation with them when overwhelmed as someone who struggles with sever anxiety I always feel extremely welcomed.Vegetarian options: They listen to instructions to do with dietary changes.
Charlotte Shepherd: Fun friendly atmosphere, cocktails were amazing.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Eamonn Devine: A great and not so little venue. Should be called the Hobbit hole, it goes on and on! Very friendly door staff, good atmosphere, and good tunes.Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Daryl Foote: Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Alexandra Pain: The hobbit advertise special designed t-shirts which you can only get if you do there ‘quest’ drink all there special cocktails, I spent a fair amount of money to do their quest to get a t-shirt, only to be told they had no t-shirts at all, when I spoke to a female staff member about this this ask why they had not sign posted this or made customers aware before hand she told me I was being ridiculous and that there was nothing to be done, after spending so much money with them they could have been a little more apologetic and understanding of the situation when it’s not easy for me to return at a later date to pay admission just to get a t-shirt, I don’t recommend going here when the staff are so unhelpful uncaring about there customers
Paul Smalls: Excellent service.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5 …More

Okoli Ugochi Sandra: Had a nicely pleasant cocktail made by Vicky. I called it Vicks Cocktail. She went all the way and beyond to ensure we were made comfortable. Her male colleague that night was also friendly..

joe rowe: Fantastic place, good vibes, good music, lovely staff! Management are on point aswell! Would definitley recommend!
Ace Rosales: Great team of mechanics, very helpful and doesn't mess you about
Gavin Hewitt: Downstairs bar for after gig drink ,nice staff .
Jack Martin: Incredibly rudely asked by the manger to move out of the way of a door that I wasn't even blocking or covering (people still freely moving in and out). Denied her politely due to her rude nature of request and then proceeded to hide behind me and other queing members while getting ID'd on entry so she could ask the security to deny my entry. Been attending social for years and never had issue with poor staff behaviour before but a seemingly bad mood of the staff member being taken out on patrons should have some internal questions asked
Shaun Rowe: Wicked pub
Sam Rich: The cocktails were amazing and the staff were lovely. Great atmosphere, nothing but laughter and fun. Nice seating and tables with heat lamps in the outdoor space.
Adam Thompson: Very friendly and inviting place to strangers especially me 😂
Rosenmarkful: Best bar in town after mine😘
steve o: Rude member of staff Saturday, completely unnecessary
Jonathan Banks: Always a good crowd, drinks a bit expensive
Chris Schutrups: Spike was super friendly and made the experience super fun 👌
Julianwinn: I've not experienced the ground floor bar but the top bar, as a function room and meeting place, is good. A separate bar, sound system and facilities - all work well for a private party.
247CFC: The band i am with were doing a charity show in support for Ukraine
Kunal Digpal: The only place where u can bring yo dog and your neighbourhood nitty. The social is a gathering place for many

Mark Corps: Food: 2/5|Service: 2/5|Atmosphere: 2/5More
Johnny Dowling: This is a nice little pub with good service. The food was a touch disappointing as when im charged that much for a sandwich, I expect proper crusty bread and not something from a supermarket bag of bread. Cut down on the salad side and the dressing then spend that on better bread. The fish and chips someone else had looked good though. Nice beers and staff were attentive even with large groups coming in off of the cruise ships who wanted to chat about the history of the pub etc. which is not easy.
Stuart Walker: Had a roast dinner today, food cold mistake on one order had to wait for there meal , 14 pounds for roast and 4 pounds for extra meat it’s not extra meat it 2 meats but same portion as one , so 18 pounds . Very poor.Staff ok polite but clueless when serving food 150 for 5 roasts and few coke .Stay home

The Vestry Restaurant and Bar: what do users think?
STUART: Very different and fun venue with good food and service...perfect for a pre theatre dinner before a show at the Mayflower. Sadly haven't been to the Vestry since lock down..not for want of trying!
Tom Fowler: Great food, stunning building and fantastic service. One of the best meals in Southampton
Peter Acres: Excellent food, wine and service as usual
Brendan Clegg: Everyone agrees this is stunning building, but the food last night was, to be blunt, a rip-off. We had the early evening set menu which sounded great on paper, but when the food arrived there was a stunned silence from the four of us - both the mains and desserts could only be described as micro portions. They would have been tiny if starters, but as main items they were a joke. Thankfully the concert in the Mayflower - Elvis Costello - was a delight and the evening was saved!
Russell James: Nice place and nice food
James “Jam” Connolly: Amazing food. Fast service. Welcoming staff. What more do you need.
Michelle Fry: Great for pre and post theatre drinks!
Philip Lyndon: Lovely setting, inviting friendly. Great lunch menu deal for theatre goers visiting mayflower.
Dave Headington: ...quality venue, good offers on well made cocktails!
Carol Darnell: Friendly staff and lovely food.
Helen Darke: Great service ....Food was delicious ..
Ian Davis: Lovely old building opposite the theatre, used to have a better selection of ales but still a great place for pre/ post theatre meal drinks. Book early for table!
clare mathews: Great venue, shame the food was filthy and the staff rude and argumentative . We arrived at 6pm and we still had no food at 6.55pm. Never again, such a shame for a venue in such a great location with huge potential .
Jez B: Interesting venue, staff friendly. Expensive drinks.
Tim MacCawley: Absolutely amazing food and service. The new head chefs menu choices are inspired. I will be back...
Douglas Rankine: Lovely surroundings, free parking at restaurant, if you are lucky. Varied menu, sounded nice, but I didn't enjoy the pork chop, it was tough and undercooked. The potato mash it sat on was more like mush than mash, my wife and friends were disappointed too with the quality of the meal. The red wine was nice. The wait was rather long too and the place wasn't busy. All in all, a poor experience
35maruska: the service was good but I felt uncomfortable as this once was a place of worship
John Hampshire: Great staff you should be proud and very good venue.
sally horn: beautiful building and you expect to pay a bit more but not for the price to go up each time you visit the bar, asked for a pint of pravha and half a becks with a lemonade top and it came to 7.50,went to the bar again half hour later and ordered exactly the same and was charged 9.65??? queried the sudden price rise and the barmaid blamed the previous staff saying she hadn't charged for the lemonade top!! so literally a splash of lemonade in a half of lager is 2.15 extra!!!, so 35p change out of a tenner for a pint and a half of lager, ridiculous.and obviously not correct price, staff mistake.will be making sure i am charged correctly if i ever visit again.
Oliver M: Nice place but not nice enough for the London bar prices they demand!
Lauren H: Lovely Christmas lunch, the Turkey dish especially was great
