Whirlowbrook Hall: what do users think?
Karen Proctor
Karen Proctor: Small wedding venue with beautiful gardens. The interior could do with some character as most of the period features have been removed. Good wedding breakfast and service.
Marianne Roberts
Marianne Roberts: Beautiful gardens with lots of benches to sit and reflect. Space, peace and quiet , calm oasis in the city.
Tom Hendry
Tom Hendry: Whirlowbrook hall was a fantastic wedding venue from start to finish. Arranging the wedding we had really great communication from Emma, Jacqueline and Lucy, with really quick responses to our many little questions. On the day itself, Emma was brilliant throughout the whole morning, the venue was set up perfectly how we asked with all the small touches being done without any fuss. In the afternoon, Tom took over as master of ceremonies and nothing was too much trouble for him, he was truly brilliant and made our day flow faultlessly. The building and gardens themselves are spectacular, and every guest commented how beautiful the surroundings were. We would both say that Whirlowbrook hall was incredible value for money, and we felt like we got a bargain for our special day.
Surrey Blade
Surrey Blade: Had a wonderful Wedding party here after a 2 year delay. Lucy White was excellent throughout the process while Emma and Tom provided great support on the day. The venue, with its glorious gardens, is gorgeous, especially when the sun shines. Highly recommended.
Lottie
Lottie: From start to finish, the team at Whirlow were responsive, friendly and organised. Any issues were dealt with quickly and efficiently. We can’t imagine having had our wedding anywhere else. Thank you massively to all the team who made our big day so special ❤️ The gardens are beautiful for photos and the cocktail hour outside was perfect

Tapton Hall: what do users think?
Georgia Cherrill
Georgia Cherrill: I got married at Tapton hall on the 24th September and it was a brilliant day. We had so many comments on the food being delicious by our guests & the wedding organiser Becki is a lovely woman. However I do feel the place is understaffed, on our wedding day both me and my husband were asked directions by the public to different events happening within the hall as there were no staff downstairs to direct people. Me and my husband was also under the impression the hall would be accommodating our wedding only that day and we were disappointed when we learned this wasn’t the case. Following up to the wedding I found myself sending several chaser emails for responses but again I feel a lot of responsibility is rested on one persons shoulders. Other than that the day itself was fantastic, the drinks were reasonably priced, the food was 10/10 & all our guests had a fab time xx
Steve Moffatt
Steve Moffatt: Visited Tapton hall at different times for both jive dancing & funeral wake, nice place for both occasions, staff friendly, efficient on dance nights & sympathetic & considerate at the wake. Plenty of free parking bar prices competitive
Response: Hi Steve, thank you for your review. We look forward seeing you again soon
Martin Millward
Martin Millward: Plenty of parking, impressive interior, with very large dining room. Very good food served hot which is not easy with a large number of guests. Attentive staff.
Ruby Burkinshaw
Ruby Burkinshaw: What a treat! We had a lovely evening at Tapton Hall, taking advantage of the 50% off the new menu. We could not fault a thing. We had 3 courses, all of which were delicious! Everything cooked to perfection! Lovely atmosphere, great service and amazing food! An enjoyable evening!
Response: Hi Ruby, thank you so much for your lovely review and pictures! We are so pleased that you had a great evening with us and we hope to see you again soon x
Becky Jamieson
Becky Jamieson: We recently had our "Lockdown" wedding at Tapton Hall, Becky and the team were amazing not just on the day but equally, on the run up to. Keeping us well informed and doing all they could to make the process as stress free for us as possible. The venue was COVID safe, well managed and everything ran smoothly. The day was everything we could have hoped for and more. We have had nothing but complements from our guests about the venue, food and organization. Becky we will never be able to thank you enough, for helping to make our 2020 wedding happen.
Response: Thank you Becky! It was our absolute pleasure to have you and your guests with us for your special day. Becki - Hospitality Manager.
Diane Patchett
Diane Patchett: Afternoon tea was disappointing and they need to get a better recipe for scones! The room was very nice but the view out of the window is awful car park, pile of chain fencing and mobile phone mast to look at, such a shame it could be made very nice. I would rather go to our small coffee shop!
Response: Hi Diane. We're sorry that your experience with us wasn't what you had hoped. Our Hospitality manager would like the opportunity to discuss it further with you. If you could please email enquiries@taptonhall.com with a contact number, she will be in contact. Thank you.

Talk to Becky, who has got the kindest personality. she'll help to tailor your event to fit your budget and to please you and your guests. Food is nice and staff in general are very helpful and kind.
Jeannette Hewett
Jeannette Hewett: You won't find better value for money anywhere else. Excellent, food, disco and a quiz. There is a warmth from the staff as you feel so well looked after. Only criticism = the quiz would be better between dinner and disco to give your tummy a rest😊. The atmosphere at midnight is 2nd to none

Wortley Hall: what do users think?
William Holgate
William Holgate: We stayed at the small caravan site in the grounds of Wortley Hall. There are only 5 pitches, all well serviced and maintained. The facilities are the best I have encountered with excellent showers. The grounds are beautiful and the bar does good food, including gluten free options. Highly recommended

Ian Lines
Ian Lines: Have had numerous afternoon teas over the years at a variety of establishments. Most have had one thing in common, they all seemed to have overloaded on the cake selection. Wortley Hall, in my opinion had it about right. Left feeling full but not bloated. Sat in a nice warm but airy, sunlit wood panelled room. There was about 7/8 tables in the room and only 1 other was occupied. Nice quiet and relaxing.
Response: Dear Ian Thank you for taking time to write a review and for your four stars, indeed all home made and a good mix, see you soon we hope. Thank you Johnathan da Rosa General Manager

candace Clarke: Spent the night following a birthday hike in the Peak District. They were kind enough to upgrade our room as they had two wedding parties on site site the time. We were put in the atic room. It was absolutely gorgeous. Beautifully clean. The beams were gorgeous. The bathroom was clean and modern with a huge tub. It felt like we were in a quite little place of our own. We didnt hear the wedding going on at all. The dinner was beautiful and breakfast was quite a spread. Hotel staff were attentive enough without being irritating. Thank you so much for helping me celebrate a birthday with style.

It would be great to turn them off after a certain hour or arrange the door to avoid light to come in.

The Chimney House: what do users think?
Jane Axell
Jane Axell: Attended a wedding here. So lucky to get a beautiful sunny day. I loved the red brick of the Chimney House and the interior design was subtle, stylish and well thought out. We had to climb some steep stairs to the wedding room.
Dave Smithers
Dave Smithers: Lovely venue for a wedding in the grounds of the kelham island museum , close to the famous fat cat pub , staff are very attentive and the old industrial feel of the building only lends itself to the ambience of this space ,
Emily Kay
Emily Kay: From the minute I saw photos of the Chimney House, I knew it was where I wanted to get married. I love the industrial look it has and how it offered an intimate, but relaxed feeling to our ceremony. The location is great for photos and for guests to get a quick drink beforehand. The staff are so professional and generally just lovely to interact with. I would not think twice about promoting it to others!
clare plant
clare plant: Fabulous venue, we had our Christmas party here in December 2022. A great experience from start to finish, welcome cocktails, a delicious meal, friendly attentive but not overbearing staff. Only neutral feedback was to get a few more roast potatoes but only because they were so tasty! We will be back
Paul Joseph Photography
Paul Joseph Photography: We have not had the chance to say how amazing The Chimney House Venue is. We shot a gorgeous wedding back in 2017. The venue looked amazing, the staff and the food were also fantastic. We do hope we can return again one day soon.
Joseph Tomkins
Joseph Tomkins: We couldn’t have picked a better venue. Cosy and intimate, perfect for a smaller ceremony with close friends and family. We let the venue organise flowers, and we matched them (from Moss and Clover Kelham), the food was amazing and the service on the day was great. Lucy was so accommodating moving our date around due to the pandemic and made everything so stress free, thank you all again so much - highly recommended!
Chloe McMackin
Chloe McMackin: Had a fantastic event here for my 30th birthday. The staff were really helpful and organised in the run up, and on the night. The food was delicious and everyone commented on what a lovely and unique setting it was. It was definitely a memorable evening!

Lee Calcutt-Scott
Lee Calcutt-Scott: The Chimney House is a beautiful venue with an industrial style in lovely surroundings, it's perfect for a small wedding and we had an awesome day. The staff were brilliant and attentive. The food was fantastic and all our guests raved about it. It's not perfect however. There's no AC, so I wouldn't recommend a summer wedding. It was around 19c when we got married in September and I was wearing a 3 peice suit, it was not comfortable. Even with the windows open, all our guests, including my now wife, were commenting on it being too hot inside the venue. I was dripping with sweat by the end of the ceremony!I would have also liked the food to be hotter. While it was really fantastic food, it was tepid. It was not cooked on site, but should've been served on a bain-marie or similar, to keep it warm. The desserts though, were delicious, all our guests loved the basque cheesecake. The biggest downside was the amount of food wasted. We hoped to take the leftovers home, as there was quite a lot. Unfortunately the T&Cs state that we were not allowed to take the leftovers home. Please read the T&Cs thoroughly, as we did not, our fault. I hope all that food wasn't just thrown away, such a waste of lovely food!Overall, we did have an amazing day and I'm glad we chose The Chimney House. Don't let my negative comments put you off. I'm just giving an honest account but wouldn't hesitate to recommend this venue.

Jordan Gor
Jordan Gor: I can't speak highly enough of this venue and the wonderful staff that run it! Kirstin was super helpful from the outset, making the whole booking and planning process super easy and straightforward for our wedding. The venue itself is beautiful and well kept, making the perfect backdrop for any event - minimal decoration required in this stunning building. We were looked after so well on the day by Kirstin and Hannah that so many of our guests commented on the great service. We left the evening feeling so grateful that they had gone above and beyond to look after us and make the day so special for us; setting it up perfectly and making sure we had everything we needed throughout the day. Thank you, The Chimney House, for such a wonderful day!
Caroline Thorpe
Caroline Thorpe: HiThankyou for a lovely evening at your venue where we were celebrating our niece's wedding.Your staff Kirsten and Hannah were excellent and went above and beyond to make sure we well looked after. We are not from Sheffield but if we were we would certainly recommend you to our friends and familyThank you againKind regardsCaroline Thorpe
Richard Sedgley
Richard Sedgley: This was my first visit to The Chimney House and we'll be going back.We chose to have our office Christmas party here and we were not disappointed. All of the food was great; with every course the staff explained what was what. All the food was served on platters to the centre of the table. For want of a better term, it was a posh buffet but don't let that take away from how good it was.The venue asked us to supply our drinks and they chilled and served them for us. This seemed to work well & we were never wanting for service. All staff where polite & friendly. We couldn't have asked for more. We'll be going back!
Ian&Lisa
Ian&Lisa: The venue is fit for purpose but nothing special, plus it has no parking, hence 3 stars.
Tom Barney
Tom Barney: The Chimney House was recommended to me as a meeting place by a former colleague, and it didn’t disappoint. It’s an incredible space and benefits from an excellent location in Kelham Island. (Not just for post meeting drinks!)From making the initial enquiry, Kirstin was a joy to deal with. She made it very clear that nothing was too much work and really went the extra mile by sourcing (and personally icing) birthday cakes for two of our team. Whilst I’m on the subject, the food was excellent and the flexibility that we were allowed around timings was greatly appreciated. The team looked after us superbly, ensuring that we wanted for nothing. I look forward to the next opportunity to come to the Chimney House and will be recommending it to friends and colleagues alike.
Fiona Cooper
Fiona Cooper: Gorgeous venue, in a beautiful setting with the most friendly staff. Would recommend this place a hundred times over!
J C
J C: Last Sunday (26th May 2013) our family and friends shared a brilliant afternoon celebrating with us our 50th wedding anniversary at The Chimney House. We have nothing but praise for the venue as everything; the ambiance, the food, the staff, were excellent. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, a day to remember.A very big thank you to ALL the staff.

Graham Hiley
Graham Hiley: Splendid, and free, visit to Sheffield Manor Lodge today. Famous for, amongst other historical things, a 12th century hunting lodge, Tudor Manor house and the residence of Mary, Queen of Scots during the 16th century. Whilst much of the walls and boundary buildings are mere ruin, the Turret House is still intact and the ground and first floors open to the public, accessible by the original stone winding staircase. Great place to immerse yourself into history for 2 to 3 hours. Free parking for around 15 vehicles. Toilets and café onsite.
Response: Thanks Graham for rhe great feedback. It's always lovely to hear when people enjoy visiting and sharing the history.

Alice Grimes
Alice Grimes: What an amazing place to visit. As a 17c reenactor, it was such a pleasure to be able to get up and close to the items on display and feel free to explore all the books and crannies of the building. The 2 ladies at the front reception were very warm and welcoming and it was lovely to have a chat with them. They were very happy to answer any questions about the house and its artifacts as well as having good knowledge of the local area and its history in relation to the house.Wonderful example of the preservation of history and heritage.

Samuel: An amazing place with lots of historical items inside. Its very interactive with signs explaining what each of the items are (and some of them can be touched). I've been before to watch a historical knight battle and it was great! Its located in Meersbrooke park and is very close to a grassy hill with a view of the city. There are also 2 playgrounds; one behind it and one down the hill.I would definitely recommend visiting this place!
Steve Ralfe
Steve Ralfe: Walking past and one of the volunteers chatted to me about the house and told me it was free to enter. Had a look around, it’s a cute old house with rooms arranged in period fashion, plus an open indoor space where they host small events, and also a small shop selling related items and work by local artists. The volunteers were very friendly and helpful. Highly worth a look if you’re nearby.

I know I'm somewhat biased as I grew up in this area and have fond memories of the House and the beautiful Meersbrook Park (amazing views over Sheffield from the top) but the house is well worth a visit. 15th century building was lived in till the 1970s !
