National Emergency Services Museum: what do users think?

kim baxter: Really great museum, some fantastic pieces of history well kept and displayed. Really hands on and engaging for the kids. Very good value for money, spent a good few hours here, and has a lovely little cafe, tasty homemade food at a very reasonable price. Also, you can return again for free for 12 months, so will definitely be going again in the summer holidays. Staff also deserve a mention, as they were brilliant, polite, friendly and knowledgeable.

Ondra V: Worth the tenner they ask. They have a good selection of police cats and mostly for engine and a few ambulance. You can also see a lot of the equipment they used before.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …

Rachel Dearden: Really excellent museum. The kids were engaged for three hours. The attention to detail was fantastic for kids needs. The accessible toilet had a toddler seat, step and no hand drier - perfect for noise sensitive small children.Lots and lots of dressing up opportunities, all with actual real life emergency services jackets and hats. The kids loved this so much more than kid dress up clothes. The kids loved climbing in the vehicles and on the motorbike with the police chase on video in front.Thank you

Kelham Island Museum: what do users think?

Explore With Son & Me: An absolutely brilliant free museum, we brought our toddler and had a really good time. There’s so much to see and we really enjoyed visiting, I loved all the extra stuff about WW1 that was really interesting. My only complaint was we turned up at 9:50 for parking and a man had shut the car park and didn’t say anything to us just hard a guard across it, we parked elsewhere and walked to find car park open again.

Steve E: Wincobank Hill Fort is an Iron Age hill fort located on a hill in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. It is believed to have been built around 500 BC, during the Late Bronze Age or Early Iron Age.The fort is a large circular enclosure, surrounded by a ditch and rampart, with two entrances on the east and west sides. It covers an area of around 4 acres and is one of the largest hill forts in South Yorkshire. The hill fort was occupied by the Brigantes, an ancient Celtic tribe who inhabited the area from the 1st century BC to the 1st century AD. The Brigantes were one of the most powerful tribes in Britain, and their territory covered much of northern England.During the Roman conquest of Britain in the 1st century AD, the Brigantes initially resisted Roman rule but eventually came under Roman control. The hill fort was abandoned during this period, and the area was later used for farming. In the 19th century, the site was excavated by archaeologists, who discovered evidence of Iron Age occupation, including pottery, weapons, and tools. The site was also found to have been used as a burial ground during the Roman period.Today, Wincobank Hill Fort is a popular tourist attraction, and visitors can walk around the site and explore the remains of the ramparts and ditch. The hill offers panoramic views of Sheffield and the surrounding area. The site is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument, which means that it is protected by law and cannot be altered without permission from the government.

The National Videogame Museum: what do users think?

Tanicorn: Pretty small but has a lot of stuff. Really interesting history and good games onVisited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Not sure …

Helen Gidlow: We had a great three hours here. It a good place to take children ages 5 +. I didn't think it was to dear. I would recommend a visit hereVisited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes …

Rishi Mehrotra: Good value. Could do with games consoles from early 80's that are playable such as ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64. Also missing some classic arcade games such as Frogger and Dragons Lair.

Kate Kluttz: Loved it. Great opportunity to play a variety of games from different eras, and maybe to stimulate kids' interest in games design too. Staff very helpful and friendly.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes …

Edward Hale: Wonderful to have this type of museum in Sheffield and it does a lot of things right, plenty of free games for people to try and interesting items from video game history in cabinets to look at, felt like they were really support local indie developers also. But, some simple things like having working controllers would be nice, even something common and fairly cheap like a SNES pad wasn’t replaced and broken, Zool is a hard enough game without using a broken controller. Didn’t feel like it was laid out in any chronological order either, would have been to show my child the early stuff and walked them through how it progressed to modern day. Would thoroughly recommend a visit but it’s a fine line between museum and an arcade.

Anna H: . BUT we had the BEST 4 hours!! Couldn't believe we saw an Amiga! Grew up playing bubble bobble, lemmings, Captain Planet on our old Amiga 500 as well as Worms - super interesting learning about the history behind the game. Also the sega megadrive sonic game transported me to early childhood. It felt like a 'this is your life' journey via consoles 💀 *insert rapidly aging Matt Damon gif here*

Raifeh Hussein: Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes

Phil Sparrow: A great place. Only called in as a last minute thing but had a wide range of nostalgic gaming, that were all working, and some weird and wonderful newer ones too. Could have spent a long time in there checking them all out. Unfortunately closes for an hour for lunch but this was explained to clean down and no doubt reset and check all systems working, which they were so probably worth while. All in all could lose a good few hours just moving from old game to old game.

Izma Azhar: The best experience for video game and tech nerds! Do book ahead and you are going to need the full 3 hour experience. The staff was wonderful as well.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes …

Nigel Oates: Fantastic little place. Lots of games to choose from. Super friendly and helpful staff, nothing is too much trouble for them. If you need help, or if a game isn't working, they'll help as much as they possibly can.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes …
