Erasmus Accommodation in Sheffield: Finding the Perfect Student Flat

Razvan-Daniel Besleaga: Been living at this accommodation fever since 2020, when I got accepted to study in the UK. I’ve never been disappointed and never had anything to complain. The staff are the best of the best, and I’m extremely grateful to have them around all the time. Conditions are a lot over the student accommodations in my country which unfortunately is underdeveloped. Here at iQ I feel like home. Book with confidence and trust in them! You won’t regret it! I ❤️ iQSA!

Connor McCartan: Stayed here from 2021 through to 2022 and quite frankly would rather have lived on the streets throughout the whole year. Had issues with essentially every part of my stay here the flatmates, the staff, the building. For a start the staff were utterly horrible. I had a blocked drain throughout the year that was only ever solved in the last month of my stay. I reported a leak in my roof above and electrical socket to be told a contractor would come who never did. I left multiple reports to the staff of the state I was living in, fly infestations that were ignored, being left with no space within the fridges and as such asking to move flats in October which they ignored until after Christmas. This caused 2 of the flat mates to leave which they were allowed immediately while I was still waiting to be told I could. The flat mate I was left with managed to make my experience in the flat worse. They let food rot, refused to take bins out and subsequently let maggots grow within their bin. This was all reported to the staff as it was happening to be told “it will be sorted”. Only when an outside company performing works on the flat refused to work within my flat due to the smell and state did they “promise to deep clean the flat” which consisted of a woman taking the bins out and wiping the stove. So long story short this place will leave you preferring living at home and travelling up even if that’s from the other end of the country.

megan-louise roberts: my boyfriend lived here and i stayed with him a lot - to begin the review, the staff don’t care. In my time being here we had many issues, blocked shower drains, leaking ceilings over an electrical socket, a fly infested kitchen which went on from december until july, which they completely ignored despite all issues being a health hazard! they repeatedly breach their own part of the contract which is to fix and maintain all issues, however when having an issue there is no staff member to be found, or when there is they either repeatedly ignore emails or speak to you in a passive aggressive manner. My boyfriend was blamed for not bringing up the fly issue a THIRD TIME- as they claimed they didn’t know however were first told by another two tenants in December- they conveniently moved both tenants to a seperate flat despite them promising theyd move my boyfriend as he felt uncomfortable around his flatmates - which they never followed up on. The electric gate to get into the flats is terrible- opens really slowly and stays open for 5 full minutes after opening, meaning anyone could get in ; this is a huge issue for unsuspecting guests as the accommodation is in one of the rougher areas of sheffield. Staff have the time to barge in on you at 10am to “inspect” however no time to fix their leaking sinks & ceilings. When told about the ceiling they sent a member of staff to look who simply claimed it “needed a contractor” and proceeded never to follow up, leaving the ceiling to still leak - terrible damp and mold hazard. They have constant work going on at all times of the day which is really loud and distracting and this is only to prove to inspectors that they’re “improving” the building. It took EXTERNAL BUILDERS to ring reception about the fly infestation and threaten to cease all work for the staff to listen - however once the builders had left they continued to ignore the fly problem. From December to July they promised a full deep clean of the shared kitchen in multiple emails, which they never actually did! To top this off, they don’t give you your deposit which they disguise as a “booking fee” back at the end! overall vile, greedy & money hungry company desperately trying to disguise their revolting and crumbling prison cell flats by pretending to refurbish the flats and ignoring the underlying problems! Terrible and overpriced, there are many other accomms in sheffield for cheaper that don’t have the atmosphere of a jail.

Eric Herringbone: I once went in here to see my nephew Jeremy but was unable to leave for 2 and a half weeks. once leaving his room after the visit I was unable to find the exit and wandered the building for days before a Chinese Student named Hei Wei took me in their room and I stayed there for the duration of the weeks. We have stayed friends and will always hold our time together close to my heart, regards Eric

CHARLOTTE JOHNSON: I’m absolutely loving my time here, if you’re looking for accommodation in sheffield this is the place to be! The staff are beyond lovely and so friendly! If there is ever an issue, they’re on it straight away and they’re always busy thinking of the next holiday or event they can host for us all. The area itself is great, only a few minutes walk to some of the best streets, such as west street and division street! The social rooms are great, i’ve personally been spending my time with my friends either playing pool in the common room or watching movies in the cinema room! The gym here is small but great, has everything you need and is kept really clean. There’s a great study room area with a kitchen and separate meeting rooms. Safety is a priority here at IQ, fobs are needed to get into the main gate, then into your own block and then into your own flat, extremely reassuring!

ishin xue: The best accommodation I’ve ever lived in! This is awesome! I’ve been living here since I came to Sheffield at the first time. It’s convenient for you to go shopping to city centre, and the staff are very friendly:)

Inaara Gilani: It’s such a wholesome student accommodation with all facilities and a wonderful staff.

Becky Hansom: In a good location within walking distance to my campus, the city centre and transport links. Staff are friendly and reception is manned 24/7 so the complex feels safe. Rooms are clean, modern and neutrally decorated so you can make them feel personal to you. Most maintenance requests are dealt with promptly. Only downside is they keep raising the rent prices every year and have stopped providing some items they used to provide e.g. kettle, toaster, mop and bucket, iron etc. As a result value for money has decreased. For instance, my current flat is £185 per week. If I was to rebook the same flat for next year however the price is £198 per week. This is an increase of £13 a week for the exact same room and facilities. I feel let down by these yearly increases as I have lived here for 4 years whilst I have been studying and do not feel as though my loyalty to iQ is being recognised.

Jade Watson: I couldn’t of spent my first year of uni at a better accommodation! My studio was perfect for just me and I had the best view right next to my bed. All the staff are extremely lovely and kind, Josh will be your best mate whilst you live there and you will not find a better accom in Sheff for everything you can do there. They host lots of free events and the 9th floor terrace in the sun makes you feel like you’re on holiday. 1000% no place better to be.

Darma Khairiree: So far no issue with Liv Student Sheffield, very nice friendly helpful staff. They go above and beyond their job description just to help you out. This place is just like a home away from home. Living here just make sense because of the great location, close to supermarkets, public transport. After a long day working or studying coming back to this little apartment just feel perfect.

Mahnoor Malik: One of best place to live here as student . This building is soo good and well designed . I live here in a studio apartment and its worth it . Everything here is just like home . Staff is very nice and polite especially Nico and Josh.. they both are soo sweet and always help out ... I would recommend this place if you are coming to Sheffield as a student it got every essential .. plus point location is ideal if you are opting for Sheffield Hallam University........ you got the things in reach groceries shopping ,food etc .... City center is literally 5 mints walk away 😃

Rhianna Green: From booking to moving in and now living the LIV Student experience, the staff have always been incredibly helpful and are happy to stop and have a chat to get to know their tenants. They go out of their way to help you and even put on free events for everyone. More recently they have opened their own in house coffee shop run by the LIV team. Overall my LIV Student experience has been one of a kind and I highly doubt you will find a service quite like the one they provide. The team definitely play a big part as they are just phenomenal in what they do.

Ollie Charvet: Been living at LIV for about 4 months now and loving it! Been in several student accommodations and this is by far the best. Room is great, facilities are awesome, and there is always stuff going on organised by the staff. The staff here are a lovely bunch of people who are very welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend this place to new students and older ones. If I was staying at uni id 100 % rebook LIV.

Ewan Wilson: My experience at LIV Student Sheffield has been extremely homely, the accommodation is a lovely, modern place to live with approachable and kind staff available at all times through-out the day. Security are present 24 hours to ensure safety within the building is a guarantee when arriving. The staff here also work really hard to put on countless events each month to keep residents busy and entertained when not focusing on university. I live in a studio flat and it is great value for money considering the space given as well as plenty of room for storage of items. Any issues are acted on straight away to ensure your stay is as enjoyable as possible and the Wi-Fi is really quick on all levels of the building. All in all it truly is an amazing place to live and I would recommend LIV to any students studying at either Sheffield Hallam or Uni of Sheffield, it is a short walk to both Hallam campuses and a little further to Uni of however is worth it for the pleasure of staying in a great accommodation.

Junyi Zhu: A super warm place to an international student! All the staff are super nice and care about your feelings at any time. The room is spacious and shared areas are fantastic, such as the gym, the cinema, and even the karaoke! The price of laundry is lower than where I lived before. Free coffee and croissants are also great! Definitely a good choice :-)

Mollie Ellis: Couldn’t recommend this student accommodation enough!!! Lovely building and atmosphere, everyone is so nice ☺️

Charlie Lyth: Andy has been absolutely fab. Any time anything needed repairing it was always done really quickly and professionally. No complaints!

Ioan Williams: Experienced no issues with Andy, enjoyed clear transparent communication in a clean well furnished house for 2 years.

Amandeep Jawanda: Fusion is an amazing accomodation located close to the city centre and a short walk away from both universities in Sheffield! The staff have been so lovely and helpful, which has helped the process of moving out feel a lot less scary! I would definitely recommend this accommodation for anyone moving out to Sheffield :)

Camila Fernandes: living here as been really easy and the staff are fabulous. the room was up to standard and the staff are really creative when it comes to keeping their students busy with activities, such as, bingo.

Maia: As student accommodation this is amazing! The staff are so friendly and make the place seem so energetic and welcoming. The wide range of facilities are also amazing and give so many options for students !

Evan Richards: Best student accommodation in Sheffield, all the staff are great putting on parties and events with free alcohol, food and prizes. Lou, ash, Kirsty, and Adam are the best people working here, they are willing to help anyone and put on the best events and are always happy to chat. The only place you should stay as a student

Lyndsey Curtis's: 5 stars isn’t enough as Cosmos is fantastic, from the staff to the rooms, everyone is friendly, rooms are spacious & nothing is too much hassle for the staff.All areas are kept clean & tidy, staff are always on hand to help, I really recommend cosmos to all students I know.

Max Sapsed: Best place to stay in Sheffield without a doubt. The events and staff are absolutely class. The whole team is unreal especially Kirsty. This place has everything.

Caven Cheung: Staff are really friendly and welcoming and are always there and willing to help with anything. Will definitely be staying here for next year.

Jean P: I lived at Fairfield Lodge during the final year of my degree. From day 1 everything was perfect. The apartments are in an impeccable state. The location of the property was super convenient for Eccy Road, West Street and Uni. Free Parking was also a massive plus point for me! 100% recommend!

Tom Spencer: We have lived with Sunrisestar for the last 2 years. There staff and maintenance team are super friendly and helpful. I can’t recommend Sunrisestar enough.

Paul Grimwood: Nothing but good points from me! Portland Tower is a safe building in a great location, the flat was huge and really modern!

Olig C: Poor management. Staff are very rude when you need their help with something and never bother to leave the onsite office. Try to blame tenants for every single bit of damage despite these faults been made aware to the landlord upon the tenancy starting. We encountered various electrical faults which resulted in a fuse constantly tripping and the landlord was never really bothered by the continuous reports made despite it being the legal responsibility to provide safe electricity. Don’t be fooled by the nice pictures, this place should be avoided it isn’t worth being scammed.

Millie Henson: 1) Security is not one of their main concerns, there has been many issues that have occurred on site and their attitude towards this has not contained any urgency. 2) They promise you modern technology WiFi, since moving in we have discovered it turns off whenever the smallest bit of rain happens, as a uni student you can see how frustrating this would be when assignment submissions are regular. 3) They ignore emails and claim they’ve never been sent. 4) It’s extremely apparent no maintenance check has been carried out before new tenants move into the flat. I don’t think it is coincidental that every essential appliance has failed (including dishwasher, dryer, cooker and electrics) within 6 months of living there. 5) And finally, the maintenance staff are rude and verbally abusive. When bringing up with the letting agents, the attitude in return was wrong.

Harry Kingaby: Sunrisestar have exceeded my expectations as a letting agency , they are approachable , honest , always contactable and nothing was ever too much trouble . As a parent , to a student, who lives many miles away Sunrisestar were always only a phone call or email away and would listen, action and just get any repair sorted with no hassle at all . Landlords / letting agents always get a bashing but I can honestly say they were fab and would have no hesitation to recommend to future students looking at renting from them .

Anna Maynard: Great location! Close to my Uni (Uni of) so I can spend more time in bed 😃! Also close to loads of bars and food including a Dominoes pizza, Tesco and Bargain Beers! There are great views of the city and friendly staff
