The Clayhouse Studio: what do users think?

Harriet Lichfield: I would highly recommend the pottery class with Wendy! A lovely few hours and I’m really happy with the vase she helped me to make. 5 stars!

Trudi Mayo: A lovely morning making two pots.. looking forward to seeing them glazed. Thank you Wendy. Definitely need to return.
Sam Hine: We had a great time on the two hour taster session. We hadn't really done anything like this before but Wendy is a very patient teacher and we were really pleased with what we managed to produce. Thoroughly recommended!
Kirsten Vizor Rivelin: I've really enjoyed learning with Wendy at the The Clayhouse Studio. The setting is beautiful, and Wendy is a wonderful teacher - she is happy to work on projects that you have in mind, can work through different techniques by suggesting different objects to make, and she also does one off days/workshops for individuals and parties (I've seen some of the work on the shelves and it looks great). Her vast knowledge on the subject and friendly approach make it a really wonderful place to learn, and I've already made lots of items that I am proud of. I can't recommend this studio enough!

Studio Mia Ceramics: what do users think?

Liv Thorp: My boyfriend and I decided to try a pottery experience and we couldn’t be happier that we chose to do it with Mia. We had a 2 hour session and both had the chance to create and then paint several beautiful pots despite being complete beginners. Mia was an amazing teacher and created such a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Really highly recommend if you’re looking to get into pottery or just want to try something new. We can’t wait to see our pots after they have been fired. Thank you so much Mia!!

Em J: This was such a lovely, relaxing experience for me and my sister. Mia was so welcoming and made us feel at ease straight away and throughout the whole time we had with her. She gave us inspiration and examples throughout to aid the creative process, but I left feeling like I had created something of my own and had learned things too. I couldn’t recommend her enough!

Kylee Wu: Mia has been very welcoming and enthusiastic about teaching and sharing pottery knowledge. Learnt a lot and had a great time at her studio. Highly recommend :)

Bronwyn Tero-Blaxhall: I was given a lesson with Mia for a birthday present, and really enjoyed every part of it. She made us feel so welcome in her studio and taught us lots and was very encouraging. I would definitely recommend it for a beginner to pottery!
Elizabeth Hopkinson: Mia is an amazing pottery tutor love our sessions and always come away feeling like I’ve achieved a lot. My creations are building up nicely and I use them every day.Would highly recommend her private lessons. 👍🏻👍🏻
michelle goddard: Great experience always wanted to try pottery, Mia is a great teacher and we had a lovely experience, highly recommend.
Samantha Purchase: We got lessons with Mia as a gift, and we loved the experience. Mia is so kind and patient—an excellent teacher! She makes complex tasks beginner friendly and she's very encouraging. We're thrilled with our pots and experience.
carole Longmire: I have always wanted to take up pottery from experiencing a few lessons at school. Many years later I finally found a wonderful, calm, encouraging teacher in Mia.Mia has helped bring out the creative side in me and with encouragement from her I have produced some lovely pieces. Not only have I worked in clay but produced lovely dishes and tealights in porcelain. And of course its not just the making but experimenting with different paints, sponges and a variety of tools producing different textures.I always look forward to our sessions as she is not only my teacher but has become a friend as well.If you are looking to develop your creative side I would thoroughly recommend Mia. Her lessons are delivered in a lovely studio with beautiful examples of Mia's work and that of other pupils which are inspiring and achievable with her patience and encouragement.Carole
L W: I had some pottery lessons with Mia. She is a wonderful teacher. She really listened to what I wanted to get out of the lessons and was very patient. She's very talented and lovely to work with.
Jess Leatherland: I had a wonderful time with Mia, she is so friendly and an excellent teacher! The first time I went with my mum and made tiles using flowers from Mia’s garden, which was a really lovely experience. I couldn’t resist booking more lessons to have a go on the wheel! Mia was able to guide me through the process of throwing pots even with my complete lack of experience, and I had a really great time. She is very good at knowing when to step in and help and when to leave you to get to grips with a process. You are allowed to choose whatever you want to do in lessons, and there is no restriction on how much clay you use, which I really appreciated. Mia is a brilliant potter and a wonderful person, and I would absolutely recommend visiting her and her lovely little studio.
Alex Lau: I have attended lessons with Mia for over a year and highly recommend her. Mia usually allows me to decide what techniques I want to explore during the lessons and provides well thought advice when I am trying to do something that is unconventional. I have enjoyed her lessons very much.
Moira Coad: My friend and I spent a wonderful 3 hours learning to use clay, making and decorating hanging ornaments. Mia is a great teacher, with lots of patience and making sure we had fun. | would definitely recommend! Thank you Mia
Tyler Wills: I booked this session with Mia as a Christmas/birthday gift for my partner. Mia was really patient and a great tutor with it being our first time throwing. Lovely experience all round couldn’t recommend highly enough.
David Wells: I have had a wonderful experience with Mia, she is very patient and extremely skilled in her craft. I will definitely be booking more lessons and i would highly recommend Mia ceramics to anyone who is looking to get into pottery. I would give 10 stars if i could.
Adam Donnelly: I was bought some one on one Pottery Lessons as a Birthday Gift. AMAZING Experience. Mia was very friendly, so knowledgeable and patient helping and guiding me through making both coasters and a couple of pots. Taking me through the entire process from start to finish including the painting process was so much fun and I would highly recommend Mia.
Mae L: Highly recommend! Despite having close to no experience with clay, Mia was still able to accommodate my request of trying out throwing on the wheel. She was incredibly flexible and I felt that our lessons were personalized to focus exactly in what I wanted to do.During the throwing session, I was able to use the time to make as many pieces as my inexperienced hands allowed me to. This came as a surprise for me as other pottery studios often mention a 'clay allowance'. We were even able to create some small cutouts from leftover clay.Additionally, Mia's way of teaching is very calm and easy to understand. She had shown great patience in helping me when I needed, always ensuring that I didn't ruin my own work.Overall, Mia is a great teacher - calm and patient. Her sessions are flexible to personalization, which I really appreciate as it greatly maximises the experience. Absolutely delightful experience, 11/10, would do it again.
Charlie Lyth: Mia was an excellent teacher and created a really lovely atmosphere. We had a great time throwing and painting our pots. Highly recommend Mia's classes.
Maximus: A fantastic taster experience in pottery! We had lovely day exploring the world of pottery and creating own very own masterpieces.
H Sowden: Had an amazing 3 sessions with Mia. Learned lots of techniques and created some wonderful pieces of pottery. Mia was an excellent and fun teacher and was very patient with too very keen and enthusiastic amateurs. We would highly recommend this experience. Thankyou Mia 😎👍
Jill Goulding: Had the best time with Mia. She is friendly, encouraging and very knowledgeable. I didn't think I could be creative but I was wrong. With Mia's help I was very proud of what I made. Definitely recommend 👌
S H: I had such an amazing time with Mia! She is a wonderful teacher and so encouraging. I made a beautiful pot on the pottery wheel, then later painted it before it was fired/glazed. I'm so proud of it! I can't wait to go again soon. If you're considering arranging a session, I'd say go for it. I couldn't recommend her enough!

The Art House: what do users think?

Randy Hawley: The Art House took a hit during Covid 19 and lost a functional cafe! Only a few minimal classes are running and luckily I happen to be in one of groups which are still going! The place is great and needs some sort of funding to get it back on its feet and get people coming back!

Sarah: Best place for courses of Arts painting sculpture pottery and to explore your passion for Fine Arts . I am doing pottery and gonna do more courses in future. Beautiful environment and experienced teachers there.

P G: A wonderful place for people to experience all forms of creative art, no matter what their skill levels are, all the staff are very skilled and helpful + you can have great cakes and coffee.

--: My partner and I have attended pottery courses here. The tutors are very knowledgeable and supportive and the facilities are excellent. The dedication of the team is really evident in how many different activities they offer and prices are very reasonable. All levels of skill are welcome. The Art House is a real gift for the people of Sheffield, thank you to everyone involved.

R C: Lovely friendly environment. The Vegan food was awesome. Clean and spacious toilets with good accessibility for those with additional mobility or changing needs. The art gallery was small but perfectly formed and the lunchtime recital was the cherry on top. Would highly recommend this place.

Kel W: We visited The Tea Studio in The Art House as a last holiday treat before my son was starting back at school. What a lovely place! My lad had a jacket potato meal which he loved, I went for the bhaji sandwich. Very tasty. The cafe has dairy free butter and cheese for vegans and a wide selection of teas, and cakes and cookies suitable for a vegan diet! I had the best chocolate cake from here too, hats off to the lady who looked after us, and her secret recipe. The service was super friendly, and i have already recommended this place to a few people! Its a hidden gem, and we will definitely return!

Chloe Gillett: really nice people lots of options
Emily Bentley: Amazing chilled experience painting some plates for Christmas with my little one, so clean and organised and Vanessa is lovely Thankyou xx
Marie Blagg: This is a lovely little studio, I've not been to many pottery places but it is expensive for a day out with kids very small pottery items to paint start at around £8 which the kids don't tend to go for, otherwise a mug starts at £20 and so on..... there's a few refreshments on offer, I believe its under new management, we had a little run through of how to use the paints etc, my main issue was getting intouch with the place, constantly ringing, no answer or closed, no response to answer message, the lady did say WiFi was up and down but this happened on a few occasions when trying to call which I found a little disappointing and potentially could loose them business - owner replied to comments and I completely understand it can be difficult and hope things can be resolved in regards to contact, as I mentioned primarily its a lovely place to go and for us to spend family time and I would recommend despite these initial technical problems x
Janet Ibbotson: Excellent service. Granddaughter aged 4 really enjoyed it. Lots to choose from . Reasonably priced. A little more instructions for first timers would be good. Would definitely return .

Sandra Atkin: Excellent place. Fun to paint your own object, but the lady on the desk. Just wow! Please act like you really want people to visit not like it's a chore to have them there. Was asked when I visited, was unable to answer the the question below, so had to add it on here.So in answer to the owners question I visited on 18/04/19 @ approximately 4pm. My daughters took me for a birthday surprise, had to have a late appointment (I appreciate you close at 5pm), due to one daughter still being in school. There were 2 other tables there also and we were not planning on staying later than 5 obviously, but we felt like we were a burden.Such a shame.
Elizabeth Morrison: Great fun afternoon spent here with a cup of tea and friends. And something to show at the end of it too
Yaz Flo (Floroworld): Lovely afternoon thank you
Ben Clegg: Such a calming atmosphere, with excellent service from friendly staff. Perfect for dates, trips with friends, or for those with kids.
