Rhiannon Taylor: I decided to try EYEYE as I haven’t felt satisfied with the service in larger retail chains. It feels very hurried. Complete opposite here. They really take their time, making sure they have as much information about you as possible and use a variety of machines to check everything, whilst explaining why and what’s happening and going through each step in detail. It genuinely seems like they care. The pricing is incredibly reasonable and absolutely worth it. They’re also happy to go through the various frames and offer suggestions. I chose a pair in the end I wouldn’t have probably even looked at initially. They even stayed open a little longer to make sure I was sorted and happy. I would also recommend these if you are anxious or ND, they’re very understanding. Thank you Sharonjit and Jackson for a great experience.

Claire Todd: The most friendly and knowledgeable Opticians. The whole team really put my at my ease, my eye test was very thorough and everything was explained to me. There was zero pressure on me to buy any glasses there and then and I was free to try on glasses, which were all cleaned before the next customer, at my leisure. Eye Eye have the most amazing array of frames I was spoilt for choice. I’m often complemented on my glasses and happily tell all my friends and family about Eye Eye. I cannot recommend them enough.

Oanh Tran: As a fussy customer, I ask a lot of questions, but I've found the best place for eye care. From booking to fitting, they've been super professional and attentive to my needs. For the first time in 15 years of wearing glasses, I received a thorough eye test with clear explanations of each condition. The fitting was also impeccable, and their pricing policy is reasonable and transparent. I'm impressed and grateful and will definitely recommend this place to others. Plus, I discovered prescription swimming goggles - a game changer!

Shannon Symonds: Love this opticians so much. All the staff are lovely and there is a lot of care taken during your eyetests. The selection of frames are unique and you can tell a lot of thought goes into what they stock. Also the atmosphere is very comfortable rather than clinical.
Julia Hill: I highly recommend EYEYE if you want to deal with a proper optician who cares about your eye health rather than trying to sell you glasses. Don’t get me wrong, they have a fabulous range of eyewear, but they will also put new lenses in your old favourite specs if that’s what’s best for you. They really take the time to look after you, and their equipment is much better than I have seen at other places. All the folks who work at EYEYE really explain your test results, and have the patience of saints when it comes to you choosing frames! They also care deeply about sustainability options in their products. I highly recommend them.PS There’s a fabulous cafe right next door where you can ponder your decisions over delicious coffee and cakes! And also cheap parking outside.

Also they have a brilliant selection of glasses and they are all unisex so brilliant for nonbinary people.

I looked at glasses, picked some, paid for them.I called up a week later only to be told oh they haven't been ordered because they didn't do a measure.Never had glasses before until now. So I have no idea as to how it works.I had explained I was going away and needed them asap.I ended up with a refund. They sent me a prescription which I took to another opticians which would get them quickly.Only to be told it needed a opticians number on it which mine didn't have.I appreciate errors happen but in todays society getting reviews is the wayt o improve your business .It's now going to be months before I can get glasses. As you are shut today and not open until Tuesday.Steve
Natalie Johnson: Had such a lovely experience choosing a pair of glasses with these guys - they were super friendly and helpful, gave recommendations and were very patient while my friend and I spent about an hour trying pretty much every frame in the shop! The glasses came speedily, and when I managed to lose one of the nose pads from the frame a couple of months later they sorted me out with a new one no problem. Can't recommend highly enough, I'm a convert and will be back when I next need an eye test!
Louise Luck: Such friendly and professional service at EYEYE, they go above and beyond to get it right. They've been so helpful and patient with me, finding the right glasses frames for me that are good for varifocals. Replacing the lenses until they were in the right position. I've been with EYEYE for three years now and have recommended them repeatedly to family and friends. The opticians have plenty of time to look at your eyes properly and the rest of the team take time to chat and listen to what it is you're wanting in terms of specs and getting them properly fitted. Spot on!!
Josephine Hercberg: I've been going to Eyeye for a few 5 years now and always had brilliant service. Today was no different, with the new optometrist Sharon taking excellent care of me. It's always nice to have plenty of time to go through all the ins and outs of my eye sight and any changes. Sharon even checked my eyelids for allergy inflammation too! As I love my current frames from Eyeye I chose to get my new prescription lenses fitted in those, then I enjoyed a free coffee in the John St Kitchen cafe next door. Brilliant service, wouldn't change a thing.

A far more personal experience than with high street chains. All the staff are so helpful too when I came back to browse for new specs. Highly recommended! Also the Barnard castle signs are superb
Deborah Coldwell: Excellent service all round with both my eye test and glasses purchase. Incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and relaxed staff. I didn't think there was a great deal wrong with my eyesight but turned out i have a slight astigmatism that hasn't been picked up on elsewhere. There was no pressure to buy glasses (either at all or from them) but i'm very grateful i did as they have made a surprising amount of difference. The examination was well explained and actually quite interesting. Not having had glasses before, the team were really helpful and got the balance perfect between offering advice and leaving me to my own devices while figuring out what frames to choose. There was a good selection of more environmentally friendly glasses made out of recycled plastic which i also appreciated. I don't believe they are the cheapest service around but i'd say it's worth every penny.

Madamé M: Poor customer service at this Specsavers store. How anyone get’s served is questionable. Staff are disengaged, poorly coordinated and untidily presented. Staff do not understand their own tablet devices or software on the computers, so you are left waiting for forever and a day. Seating area is also poor - with not enough seats for the volume of customers. In future, I won’t be attending this store and hope it is audited by HO for their poor standards . Additionally, staff should be trained on their customer etiquette/ presentation. I was served by Cody.

Claire Mwangi: Kept waiting for an hour as they couldn’t find my daughters glasses and they said they were in. A manager was meant to call the following day and I heard nothing. A few days later I ended up having to call them. Very disappointed with the poor service here.

Moe Halabia: You phone them up and you ask about something or a certain type of lens if they can do it or if they have done it before. No one gives you a straight answer till you book an appointment and you loose money for nothing. Absolutely nothing. And once you’re in the appointment you just hear a long lecture about how bad the optician services in the NHS are. I don’t know why they are even talking about it. This shop advised me incorrectly, built up my hopes, and I had to pay for it be warned people. Really useless shop I would not even call it opticians. A grocery store is more useful than this.

frederick hague: I can’t recommend Ray enough, I was recommended by other family members who had received an excellent service, I had a full eye screening service using the latest state of the art equipment, Ray explained everything including showing me all the images etc taken during the process, I felt happy and reassured that I was in good hands, it’s made me realise the service you get here is very thorough compared to the high street stores who have you in and out in 20 minutes, also thank you to Amil who helped me pick some lovely glasses and who did a thorough fitting service - thank you Charlotte Smith

Emma K: Had to have my eye laser surgery done twice didn't work the first time, the second it was marginally better for a little while. Eyes remained dry no matter what I did. Five years later (and I was in my 20s when I had it done) and I'm back to paying for and wearing glasses. Told I can have it done again and I'd have to pay in full. Accept no responsibility at all. Absolute waste of money for me, wish I hadn't put myself through the massive cost and pain that followed for just five years....Regarding your response below, this feels like just an automatic response. I've spoken to your team who told me there's absolutely nothing they can do aside me having surgery again at my own expense. They told me it's in the small print that my eyes could change (it doesn't say in five years it says with age, I was in my 20s!!) and disputed the fact that you'd expect it to last longer than five years. They didn't care, one single bit and did nothing to help me aside try to get more money out of me!!
Dan: STAY WELL CLEAR ! ..Where do I start with the shambles in service...was told new lenses would improve vision wouldn't need glasses, paid £500 of the £7000 up front only to have appointments cancelled...then had appointment with a surgeon told 10am waited till 11:45 to be seen to be told she wasn't a retina specialist and wasn't sure if surgery would be beneficial, she didn't even have any eye drops at hand to dilate eyes and couldn't contact nurse who was downstairs gabbing with the staff at the front desk , SO she USED DROPS OPENED AN USED ON a PREVIOUS PATIENT !!!! The woman wasn't even the surgeon we was due to see and we couldn't hardly understand her poor English !...for a £7000 private service I was disgusted at the lack of hygiene/ competence/ professionalism and organization...U don't want someone who says she isn't an eye specialist cutting out YOUR lenses really do u !... cancelled hole thing because they don't seem to know what the hell they are doing AND the service was so unorganized , then because we want to cancel we get the silent treatment...no phone calls, no messages I'm trying to get refund on deposit nobody wants to call us back told refund can take up to 28 days TOOK YOU 10 SECONDS TO TAKE IT when you didn't even know if I was eligible ...total scam what a terrible service give me my refund disgusting behavior!!!

The gentleman kindly fit on a replacement frame although I didn’t ask for it. He answered all my queries and helped me through the entire process of picking out new frames. Оксана Казимирова: Thanks for the diagnosis. The staff is polite, pleasant and friendly. I am a foreigner, my English is not perfect, but the staff explained everything to me clearly. The examination took about 15 minutes, on 3 different medical devices. Vision was checked and lenses were selected. I liked the fact that the consultant did not impose the product, but really tried to choose the glasses that fit me.

Simran: I ordered contact lenses in store that I needed within 7 days as I am travelling abroad. A girl called Maria did that for me, but instead of sending them to my local branch at home which I asked her to, she just left them at the Hillsborough Specsavers. Apart from that mistake that was made by the trainee, the contact lenses were sitting there for days and I never received a call, email or text message letting me know they arrived, until I called the branch. If the branch had let me know they were there earlier, the trainee's mistake could have been fixed as I could have ordered the contacts to my local branch from Hillsborough. I am extremely upset as now I need to travel without being able to see as my glasses are yet to arrive, and I have to spend more money abroad to get the contact lenses, I would like a refund for these contacts. To anyone who is ordering, make sure you call the store to check up on your order or they will completely forget about you.

Claude Frankish: Have been attending this branch of specsavers since I was a teenager. They were brilliant when I came for my most recent appointment in November.Very professional manner and answered all questions I had regarding my eye health. They were also very swift with manufacturing my glasses and ensuring everything was perfect for my needs before sending me home with my glasses.Shame this branch is very far from home but I'm very grateful they were willing to see me.Will definitely recommend

From calling to enquire regarding a replacement pair to my Son leaving with new frames and treated lenses, incredibly the whole process only took 1 hour! Amazing, thank you.

liz lindley: This place has gone down hill fast! Been with them 10 yrs, just changed to another branch now. No organisation whatsoever! In August they kept making mistakes on appointment times, 3 visits it took me for them to get it right 🙄 I did receive a £13 refund for contact lenses I never received in the first place! Should have had them as usual 1st October, none arrived, collected a pair from the shop, was told 1st November, still no lenses, called again, they don't know 🤦♀️ now got to wait again for lenses! Changed to another branch where hopefully they are more competent..bye bye Hillsborough 🙏
jacqueline baker: It's ok when I went for my eye test the staff was not helpful at all I think there was treat me like i could not afford the glasses i got I'm sure there though I was unemployed which I'm not but when I pick up my new glasses one of your staff there her name was Janet she was wonderful and very happy and helpful in everything I give her 100 out of a 100 I have time for people who are helpful and go the extra mile.😍🤩
