Morton Guitar Lessons: what do users think?

Charlotte Tipping: I wanted to learn how to play the guitar because I needed to find something to help me relax from a busy family/work life. My confidence and self belief was pretty low so I thought playing an instrument would do me good! For the first few lessons I was really nervous as I have dyslexia and I find it hard to remember instructions or sequences. Conor put me at my ease very quickly. Conor had a relational teaching style. He worked closely with the me to overcome barriers to my learning and will sets achievable challenges that helped me improve. Conor is patient empathetic and a highly skilled musician who is also a lot of fun! He is open to challenge and when something isn’t working he makes changes to lesson content. Learning to play the guitar has had a really positive impact on my life as it relaxes me and builds confidence as I take on new challenges. I have Conor to thank for that and cannot recommend him highly enough.

Josh Hargravy: Came here to learn guitar a bit more and advance my learning and he’s done what I asked and more. Highly recommend this if you want to learn near enough anything to do with guitar. Even if he doesn’t know everything about a subject he’ll take time to learn it himself and teach you all he knows on top of that.

Now I enjoy experimenting in different styles classical, blues, traditional, folk style, popular music... thanks Rob. See you next week.
Jack Lyus: Robert is an excellent teacher, he's great at adapting to my son's neurodiversity and keeps him supplied with a good range of different sorts of pieces to play as well as covering some essential music theory

Rob's friendly nature, enduring patience, knowledge and experience have helped me tremendously in learning to play some basic tunes and understand music theory in a short time. I look forward to his tuition each time and am enjoying my learning journey with him. Would highly recommend.
Corinne Thornton: Just started having lessons with Rob. Really put me at ease from the start and I genuinely feel like I'm already making some progress. He tailors the lessons to the music I like, which further motivates me to practice. Recommended to anyone whatever level you are.
Dave Campbell: I started my lessons with Robert in 2021 as a hacker, and after 6 or 7 months or so, I now strum and pick with a degree of confidence. Robert is clearly experienced in both playing guitar, and tuition, but is prepared to come down to my level and maintain his cool demeanour. I don't hesitate in making a recommendation.
Faye Kirwan: Robert is an excellent guitar tutor, he is very friendly and patient which makes learning the guitar fun! He is good at explaining music theory and makes the whole process of learning the guitar a very enjoyable experience. I feel that I have been able to make a lot of progress in a short amount of time thanks to Robert's teaching. He is a great guy and I would highly recommend taking guitar lessons from him!

Rob taught me to read music and learn how to play a wide range of styles. As I progressed, he advised me on which guitar to buy and where, and helped me to prepare and achieve Grade 6. Rob's studio is well equipped and modern, a really excellent place to learn to play. Rob is friendly, professional and very flexible to what I want to learn. He is an skilled guitarist himself and has many years of experience teaching people of all ages to learn to play guitar.

Donna Howat: My son is having pre GCSE lessons with Rob and we are very plesed with the progress so far. Rob has been able to quickly identify the gaps in ours sons knowledge and is providing enjoyable lessons that stimulate and encourage furture learning. Robs lessons are pitched in a way that makes the theory based learning interesting for a teenage boy who used to think scales where 'boring' this I feel is a remarkable acheivment.
David W: I've been playing guitar for over 30 years and was looking for a teacher who could teach music theory and help improve my technique. Rob has helped immensely with both of these aspects and especially was able to provide guidance about what parts of my playing could be improved. He always has a friendly and relaxed attitude, is patient and always willing to re-explain things. I would highly recommend him.

Claire Bower: My daughter has been learning to play electric guitar with Craig for 2 years. He is an exceptional teacher - patient, encouraging and motivating. Also flexible in his teaching practice offering zoom lessons during the pandemic and also when we are unable to attend in person. I would highly recommend him as a teacher.

Fiona Hutchings: Craig is a fantastic teacher both in person and online. He is encouraging and enthusiastic but never patronising and great at putting nervous students at ease. His prices are really reasonable and he is flexible about session length and frequency which we really appreciate.

Mark Beighton: Craig is a fantastic teacher I had never played guitar when I went for my first lesson and only 3 months after i am now reading music and improving week on week. I highly recommend him.

DARREN FLETCHER: Been having Lessons with Craig for a few years. And he is an outstanding teacher and guitar player. Really puts the music theory across in an easy to understand manor.

Joshua Beatson: Craig has been an amazing tutor, always patient and helpful. Would definitely recommend him to anyone wanting to learn guitar!

Anthony Long: As an older beginner to guitar, I have found Craig to be an excellent tutor. He plans my weekly lesson with him carefully, based on my specific musical preferences and interests, and delivers a structured and always interesting lesson for me. He is a very talented musician, a patient, constructive and thoughtful tutor and he challenges me every week to ensure I remain on track with my learning and development. I am delighted to have found him and I would have no hesitation in recommending him.
Mujinho: Craig is a fantastic teacher and a great bloke! In a short period of time he has identified areas for improvement in my guitar playing and I have picked up techniques I hadn't thought of before. He is a font of knowledge and is always happy to assist with any questions.
Neal Seymour: I have had 3 bass guitar teachers prior to having lessons with Craig. I'm definitely progressing more quickly than previously. My son also had lessons with Craig and is now an excellent guitarist.Craig uses progressive techniques, building on previous lessons, and bases the lessons around music theory. He makes learning the theory fun and enjoyable.I am thoroughly enjoying my lessons and look forward to each lesson. I am so glad I changed my bass teacher to Craig.
Joe Broughton: I've had few guitar teachers over the many years I've been playing and Craig is the most professional guitar teacher I've known.Lessons are structured and focused but also clear, concise and easy to understand. Craig is also great at helping you prepare for getting the grades for guitar if that's what your working for.Whether you're new or experienced and wanting to learn guitar it's worth getting in touch.
Ian Sabroe: Craig is an awesome teacher. As an adult learner, I've found him always very encouraging, friendly, and really good at helping me learn the kind of music I want to play. Highly recommended.
Max Barker: Excellent teacher. Craig listens attentively to all questions and is great at adapting his teaching style around my needs. Lessons have always been structured around my own skill and requirements. He is consistently supportive, friendly and patient and has helped me a lot with both technique and theory.
Dave Porter: I’ve been playing guitar on and off for over 30 years, mostly self taught. I’ve often felt I was missing some important knowledge or my progress had slowed. I’ve been having fortnightly lessons with Craig for the past four months and I’m filling in those gaps rapidly now!Craig is a great teacher and an expert. The lessons go quickly and my brain is getting as much of a workout as my fingers. Having someone expecting me to make progress between lessons is the motivation I really needed, and means I’m making much faster progress than I ever have when learning from books or videos.Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player who has plateaued, I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Craig to help you.
Elliot Pacey-Carrier: Lessons with Creig are amazing!! Highly recommend. I look forward to each lesson!
Dawn W: My 9 year old son has electric guitar lessons with Craig and he's a fantastic music teacher. My son enjoys the range of songs covered and how Craig keeps it fresh and interesting. He's kind, patient and encouraging which helps my son feel a great sense of achievement playing his guitar. Thanks Craig!
James Burdett: My young son and I go to Craig for our guitar lessons every week. Great value lessons and we are both improving. My son said he really enjoys going and Craig makes a real effort with him. We much prefer going to Craig's basement studio for the lessons but when we've been struggling to get there he's been fine with doing the lesson over Zoom too. We'll be continuing with Craig for a long time yet. 👍
Hoyt Reid: A very enthusiastic and encouraging teacher, lessons were a good balance of learning songs and practising technical elements. Learned something new in nearly every session.
Peter Ian Staker: Craig is a top teacher and all round top guy. Couldn’t recommend highly enough 👍
Ben Wood: Craig’s a lovely guy, very patient and knows his onions. Would highly recommend
Ade Ball: I can only share my experience as a (let's say) mature learner, with a patchy history of guitar playing over the years, wanting to reinvigorate my enthusiasm. Five stars all round!Craig quickly pin-pointed the sort of style I would most be interested in developing, and we set to it pretty much straight away and have been working through some acoustic blues techniques and pieces since the start of the year. To say I have improved would be an understatement. Craig seems to possess a bottomless pit of patience and encouragement which has turned my feeble fumblings into something approaching half-decent music at times (with a more able student I suspect the sky would be the limit!).If you are looking for a guitar teacher, I can recommend Craig, unreservedly.
Iain Vaughan: Just a superb teacher. Since beginning lessons with Craig, not only has my playing improved hugely but my understanding of music has too. Really really great.
Fiona Hutchings: Craig is a fantastic teacher both in person and online. He is encouraging and enthusiastic but never patronising and great at putting nervous students at ease. His prices are really reasonable and he is flexible about session length and frequency which we really appreciate.
Dr Dappadan: If you are looking for a guitar tutor, congratulations, your search is over! Craig is an absolutely brilliant teacher and I'm really happy with my lessons with him.He is extremely experienced. His knowledge of the instrument and of music itself is second to none. He is a true master. He has a string of accolades, awards, professional experience - not just in relation to music theory itself, but also for performing it, and specifically for his teaching. But perhaps most importantly, he has the personal attributes of a brilliant teacher - patient, understanding, a good listener, in tune (ahem) with your level.
DARREN FLETCHER: Been having Lessons with Craig for a few years. And he is an outstanding teacher and guitar player. Really puts the music theory across in an easy to understand manor.
Samuel Dougherty: Craig is an excellent teacher. Been having bass lessons for a few months and they've been really enjoyable and well structured with a real musical focus.

Alex Oxley: Excellent guitar teacher and can tell a good joke. Would highly recommend for someone wanting to start playing an instrument.
Tim Evans: I came there almost a year ago now as a 67 year old complete beginner with no musical knowledge whatsoever. Ains has been really patient with me. He has tailored each lesson to my progress (or lack of it). I can’t recommend him and his style highly enough. He is a very gifted teacher
Angela Clemson: Ainsley is a genuinely talented musician and teacher. His patience, and encouragement have taken me from the plateau of playing little bits of a few songs to being in a band! He has also coached our band which has been an absolutely invaluable experience. I highly recommend him. His musicianship is second to NONE!
Luke Smith: Teaches in a fun way, with patience and humour, shoe-horning in a great knowledge of music theory, practice and the tropes of all kinds of popular music.

CEM M: Brilliant guitar teacher with endless patience and a great sense of humour. He has always been honest but incredibly encouraging. He now teaches my teen bass and she loves her lessons. Best teacher ever!
Jock Waugh: As an older, non 'technical' student, I have to say this is the first time someone has explained to me how to play in a way I can understand and given me practical ways of learning. Highly recommend Ainsley.
Marilena Kyriakidou: Excellent! Ains is friendly, fun and a talented musician. He knows how to play heavy, brutal, turn it into blues and pop. Importantly he can pass this knowledge on to his students. He is very understanding (and a secret undercover feminist)once I had my 2 year old daugther in our zoom session and he delivered the lesson fine. Highly recommend him. He rocks!
Andrew Bingham: Hi all been going to Ainsley for nearly three years and have learned so much in that time. Have come on leaps and bounds. Ains is a great guitarist and a great teacher. Definitely recommend. Keep on Rockin

Jess Heywood: Ainsley is an exceptional guitar teacher. He really knows his stuff! A lovely guy with an average sense of humour (joking Ains!). Can’t recommend enough. Very patient and makes lessons really enjoyable
Tom Hart: Positive:ProfessionalismAinsley is a really friendly and approachable guitar teacher. I’ve ‘learned’ from YouTube some stuff but having a patient and knowledgeable teacher like Ains has really moved me on in a short time. The lessons are fun and I’m now beginning to start to actually understand things properly.
Harriet Sambrooks: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueAinsley is immediately approachable and puts students and parents at ease. He is friendly, kind, intuitive and able to adapt his teaching approaches to suit learning styles. I would always recommend Ainsley to those wanting to learn guitar as he was recommended to me!
Steve O'Brien: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityAinsley is a top man, his knowledge is unsurpassed and he delivers the lessons in a structured and fun way, as a guitarist already with a few years experience I found Sheffield guitar school the perfect way to advance my ability and knowledge and make me a better player in every sense. it would be hard to recommend more highly.
Dan Paling: Ainsley guides his students, as only the best teachers do, through the styles of music that they themselves want to play. I come away from lessons feeling more confident and competent as an independent musician.
Bev Hegde: My son Danny has been having lessons for over a year. He really loves Ainsley's lessons and looks forward to them. He has learnt to play lots of his favourite songs including ACDC. Ainsley is fun and inspirational. I would highly recommend him. He also mending Danny's guitar when it broke for free. He has a passion for music that really inspires his pupils.
Leo Maltby: I couldn't recommend Ainsley enough, superb quality of teaching and an awesome guy. I have had lessons for a long time and have learnt so much about so many different genres of guitar playing and music in general. He is immensely talented at many instruments and will bring a smile to your face every lesson!
Jonathan Yewdall: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueAinsley has given our son lessons for a decade and they are real high spot in the week. Ainsley is highly flexible let's people explore their passions and is a natural rock-god, inspirational performer and decent all-round guy.
Finlay Kinsella: Ainsley is such a nice and welcoming guy he knows how to keep lesson fun and engaging. Would highly recommend having lessons with him.
Terry Chambers: Ainsley is an all round nice guy with a great sense of fun. I was in a rut when I joined his Guitar classes. It did not take more than a couple of half hr sessions for me to get my enthusiasm back. I have learned techniques over the last 12 months that I never thought I would ever get the hang of. Under his guidance my confidence is growing week by week. Ainsley has taken songs that I have struggled with at home and guided me to that light bulb moment when everything clicks into place on many occasions. He can do this is any style or genre. Keep up the good work.

Sheffield Guitar Studio: what do users think?
Liz Rooker: It was very easy to arrange the initial lessons. Jonathan called us straight back and gave us lots of information and some ideas to bring for the first session. We were pleased with the free taster session as this is for our 8 year old. Jonathan is very good with her and tells her what her focus should be on practising each week (mostly that you can’t practise enough). He engages well with her and it’s very clear he has a lot of experience playing and teaching guitar. The sessions are fun too so we have no issues getting our 8 year old to comply with her lessons. We would highly recommend Jonathan as we can already see improvements in our daughters practice after a couple of months.
Patrick McGovern: I’m a pupil and I love the lessons! Jon is a very good teacher and very enthusiastic about guitar and that helps you to learn. I would definitely recommend to other people! 10/10!
Joshua: Initially I chose to take guitar lessons with Johnathan due to his local location to myself, the professional website and the excellent reviews I came across online, the latter proved to be very accurate. After my first lesson with Johnathan I knew I had found a great teacher, going into the lesson as a 28 year old who has never played an instrument "properly" I was slightly nervous but Johnathan put me at ease from the off. He listened attentively to my current situation, what style I wanted to pursue, mainly rockblues and gave great initial song recommendations to learn explaining why they were good to start with due to the techniques I would pick up, this gave me a feeling of structure and direction.Learning so far has been fun and engaging, Johnathan articulates the techniques of guitar playing and methods of learning excellently, his excellent guitar skills and knowledge is evident as he patiently guides me through the lesson. I always feel focused on learning and enthusiastic about music in general after I've attended a lesson I feel this is alot to do with how easy Johnathan is to get along with.Over one year has now passed and I have not only made great progress I'm still enjoying the learning process, Johnathan's musical knowledge has opened my eyes to a whole new range of musicians and bands and general conversation is interesting which is a part of the lesson I enjoy and value. Thanks Johnathan keep doing what you're doing !
ALANALAN ROWBOTHAM: I HAVE BEEN LEARNING WITH JONATHON FOR ALMOST A YEAR,AND HE HAS SHOWN GREAT PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING .I AM 73 YEARS OLD SO DO NOT LEARN AS QUICKLY AS I USED TO.THE LESSONS ARE STRUCTURED TO MY PERSONAL NEEDS AND ARE INTERESTING AND FUN.HE IS ALWAYS FRIENDLY AND PLEASANT.I CANNOT RECOMMEND HIM HIGHLY ENOUGH.
Alex Akers: Johnathan has been excellent since I met him and has been nothing but helpful, he has given me the hunger to get back into playing guitar and has provided me many great tips and tricks, highly recommend
Louise Rowbotham: Jon takes the time for 5 year old Samuel to settle and pitches the lesson in a manner and a pace that Samuel is happy with. He always gives encouragement and allows grandad to join in with a few chords. Samuel is asked to provide songs that he is familiar with to aid his engagement.Samuel has not had any previous tutors but enjoys his time with Jon.We often tell friends & family how happy the lessons are making Samuel and about his achievements. We’re not sure Jon could improve his service. He has a superb studio with excellent technology which we are in awe of.Thanks Jon, for all your efforts you're doing a great job in encouraging a love of music in our son/grandson.Kind regardsMark & Louise Rowbotham-Harris and Tony Rowbotham.
Jason Buckingham: Jonathan makes it all so easy and simple, even for an absolute beginner like myself. He is patient, attentive, and genuinely wants you to do well. Lessons are very laid back and relaxed and he has a set up that makes it easy for you to learn and practice whilst at home too. I would definitely recommend Jonathan and Sheffield Guitar Studio for anyone wanting to learn guitar. 5*.
Gary Unsworth: Johnathan is a fantastic teacher who is helping my son really come on with his guitar playing.. if anyone is looking for a teacher Johnathan is you guy
Carl frith: I've been learning from Jonathan for almost 6 months now and I personally feel that I not only understand guitar and music more, but that I've also learnt at the correct pace and tasks set for my ability. I've moved from Ukulele to guitar and I'm still really enjoying it. The lessons are well paced, fun and I'm learning so much!
Oliver David Murphy: Jon is a great guitar teacher. I've been learning for about 9 months and started from no experience of music whatsoever. Jon's done a great job of helping me understand the music I like and how to progress this on guitar. The lessons are always informative and fun, they don't feel rushed but they're always over too quickly. Jon's great at out of lesson support and will pull materials or demos together really quickly to help me practice at home. His rule is, 'we don't practice unless you like the music' which is great and keeps me engaged. His knowledge of music and music theory is clearly excellent but he does a great job of translating the bits you need to know. Most importantly, Jon's a really great guy, friendly and easy to talk to. The lessons are good value for money too which is a bonus.
Stephen Booth: Makes learning enjoyable and tailors teaching to my needs. Always friendly and positive, with seemingly endless levels of patience and empathy.
david beecroft: After 30+ years of on/off self teaching, and not really getting anywhere, I decided to take thing a bit more seriously and get some professional help.I found Jonathan at Sheffield Guitar studio by chance, and so glad I did…I can honestly say I have made much more progress in just 3 months with Jonathan than that past 30 years on my own.The lessons have been relaxed and enjoyable, with exercises and tunes to learn that have been geared towards my own musical tastes. The guys knowledge of all things guitar is incredible, he either knows how to play every song I mention or if he doesn’t can have a quick listen and then play it .And to cap it it all is just an all round nice blokeWould highly recommend, whether you’re a young un just starting out, or an old git like me with many bad habits to iron out !
Sonia Carpenter: Jonathan is currently teaching me how to play electric guitar which is something I’ve wanted to do for a number of years. I looked round at other tutors in the area on line before contacting Jonathan to see if he could help.He was offering 30 or 60 minute lessons which others don’t always do, and also at a time in the evening that works around my other commitments. Others only had day classes which don’t suit me.He is a fantastic tutor with such vast amounts of knowledge and skill on the guitar. He immediately made it seem possible and didn’t make me feel silly wanting to do this at 47 years old.He explains things really well and shows you how to play each note and chord as well as giving advice and feedback to help you improve. He sends over song sheets to enable you to practice at home between your lessons. And also is available to contact for help between lessons. He’s easy to get along with, and the studio at his home has a welcoming feel which immediately puts you at ease so that you can concentrate on learning.Jonathan has also given me advice on upgrading my guitar and amp to improve the whole experience.I’ve been learning for around 3 months now and having such a great time and feel I’m making good progress so I’ve increased my weekly lesson from 30 to 60 minutes.Thank you Jonathan you are a real star!
Simon Harpham: Been having lessons with Jon for a few months now and he's a very personable chap. He's easy to work with, encouraging and positive, his instruction's clear, he obviously knows his material and he's a great guitar player in his own right. His lessons are firmly focused on you and helping you find your own voice on the guitar, getting you to explore how you can use the guitar to express yourself and being really engaged with your own learning.I'd definitely recommend him as a teacher.
Neil Tudor: My 8 year old really looks forward to his lessons each week. Jonathan is a great instructor, makes the lessons easy to understand for my son and provides us with large amount of learning materials in the form of Dropbox beats and music to practice to, and also creates personal training videos if required should we need help beyond the weekly lesson.Thumbs up from us!
Danielle Burland: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueAn excellent guitar teacher. John has a really good way of explaining things and always uses music I personally am interested in. I feel like I have made some great progress in a relatively short amount of time and I would definitely recommend him.
Kavan Dignam: Been having lessons for over a year now Fantastic guitar teacher for anyone trying to get better at guitar in terms of technique theory composing etc. Evolves the lesson around the needs of the guitarist and what they want to learn and actually cares about the progress of his students and wants to see them all improve. He is always on hand too to answer questions which is a blessing as well as has a lot of free video lessons PDF’s etc to help guitarists. Would 100% recommend!
claire slade: We are really pleased with Sheffield Guitar Studio. In the 18 months our daughter (7) has been having lessons with Jon, she has made so much improvement. Jon is a great teacher and is very patient. His teaching style is flexible and he is very responsive to help her play the pieces that she wants to play. The move to Skype throughout Covid has worked well and not detracted from the quality of the lesson/teaching. Lessons are fun, progress is clearly visible and above all she is loving playing the guitar. Couldn't recommend highly enough. Great value for money too.
S McG: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,ValueReally great at building confidence and also encouraging people. Really professional and helpful too
Robert Laycock: Jon is a great teacher first and foremost. He obviously cares deeply about his subject and can teach you the basics of strumming and picking and guide you through to whatever would be your favourite styles of music or favourite songs - from Reggae to Glam Rock from Country to Death metal. If you are just starting off, or like me you had picked up a guitar before but need help with picking or timing, Jon is the teacher for you. Also, he does a very good remote class via Zoom (especially handy for people who don't live nearby). I live in London and lessons down here are very pricey so finding Jon has been a big help. I've had about a dozen lessons so far and I am really happy with my progress.

Seven Hills Tuition: what do users think?
Elizabeth Laycock: Could not recommend any more highly! Have inspired a life-long love of guitar in my eldest!
Rachel Hardy: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueJanine is truly AMAZING as a piano teacher to our children aged 10 & 11yrs. I have never met anyone so willing & enthusiastic to meet individual needs (& requests!) of children. I think Janine is one in a million … ⭐️
Mark, Rachel, Daniel & Josh Hardy: Our two sons have thoroughly enjoyed their Piano lessons with Janine, who goes out of her way to think of creative ideas in how to engage with them and enthuse them in learning to play the piano. Our sons have very different ways of learning and Janine has the ability to adapt her teaching to each one's style. We are so please we came across Seven Hills after having moved between a few teachers in the past couple of years.
Mary Lord: Kirk is a fantastic guitar teacher to my 2 children who are 7&9. He’s patient and makes the lessons fun, and has got both boys playing the basics in no time, they really enjoy their guitar lessons. I would highly recommend Seven Hills Tuition.
Claire Field: We accessed piano lessons and drum lessons via Aaron from Seven Hills Tuition. With the drums Laurence is teaching my 6 year old drums at his purpose built studio in Broomhall. He is patient and enthusiastic with George and uses innovative and engaging ways to help him develop. He gave good advice on an entry (silent 🙉) electronic kit for home practice too!We also have beginner piano lessons for myself and my 6 year old at home with 2 consecutive 30 minute slots. Aaron is great at pitching the lessons correctly between adult and child learning needs and has an encouraging, enthusiastic and patient manner. It has been great understanding the music theory, which I have never managed to understand fully prior to his teaching!! The support has been great and they are readily responsive to queries. 100% recommend 👍🏻
Tom Hutchinson: Was worried about starting piano lessons again but Jesse has been a fantastic teacher and mentor. Would happily recommend to anyone - beginner or experienced! These guys are true pros. Cheers.
Jason Fletcher: The lessons are really fun and I am playing the songs I have always wanted to play, thanks Aaron!!
Sarah Breckin: Aaron is a patient and enthusiastic tutor. My son has autism and Aaron has but him at ease and he has progressed well in just 2 weeks. I would highly recommend Seven Hills Tuition.
