Sheffield Botanical Gardens: what do users think?

Ronald Hawkes: These are really beautiful gardens with magnificent trees, herbaceous borders, beautifully restored glasshouses full of fascinating plants. We had a great time wandering the various paths, finding quiet corners where one could sit and just be. There were clean toilets and even an ice cream van! Well worth visiting.

Neil Boote: Nice green space for a wander and some fresh air. Lots of nooks and winding pathways for the kids to explore and they love going to see the bear in his pit. The different cacti in the greenhouse were interesting too.

Ting Ting: Sheffield Botanical Gardens is one of the most recommended places and most relaxing spots in Sheffield. It is located 1.5 miles away from Sheffield city center approximately 10 minutes drive from the city. The gardens are absolutely a perfect place for those who wish to enjoy a day picnic with friends and family. Visitors can explore over 18 different garden areas based on botanical themes. The gardens are spacious, well organised, nicely maintained, and therefore it is an ideal spot for photography. There is also a glass greenhouse with many interesting plants to explore.

Brandi Edwards: We had a very nice walk on a beautiful day yesterday, everything was in bloom and the smell was lovely. A great place for a leisurely walk after a nice Sunday brunch with friends.

Yousif AlShaikh: It was a nice afternoon there, the garden is well maintained and clean. The garden lacks refreshments and coffee areas, or at least by the time of my visit. Overall, it is a very nice place to spend some quality time

Winter Garden: what do users think?

Tricia L.: A great place to be when trying to escape the hustle & bustle of the town. Spent half an hour sitting down on the bench just taking up everything in this glasshouse. The greenery within the structure was so calming. They had clean benches and floors, provided ample bins for throwing coffee cups and other rubbish. The spot was very accessible and hard to miss. Happy I stumbled upon this place when I was visiting Sheffield for a day.

Uwa Agbogun: Beautiful tourist attraction with beautiful plants,/flowers and sculptured animals in the midst of rhe plants. There are benches to sit on and you can take beautiful pictures. The ones we took looked really beautiful. The garden is so warm !! Especially when you have been outside and you just walk in. And it is clean and inviting!!

David and Jax Parkin: A nice place to sit and eat lunch and drink hot chocolate. Today it was very busy with students celebrating their graduation with their families, taking lots of photos. The trees, plants and flowers are a spectacle. There are pieces of art dotted around the winter gardens, lots of benches to sit and spend time people watching for a little while. My 3 year old granddaughter enjoyed watching the pigeons. The glass structure is amazing .

Manoj: Beautiful structure in the middle of city. Art galleries inside, cafes and restaurants around the area. Fountain outside is very popular among tourist. Overall a must visit place in Sheffield.

Robert Tyler: This is the jewel of Sheffield, love it made a great day out, we are no trouble at all we are both disabled mobility scooter n wife with her walker?, had a great food at The Bessemer also a very nice cafe in Tropical House great cake tea?

Richard Broxton: The Winter Gardens is a nice place to visit and actually has some interesting facts about plants, and some quite stunningly high plants / trees. Some quirky items also in there, along with a coffee shop if you fancy sitting in the gardens. We didn’t try it but it looked okay and cheap enough. Worth a visit if you’re passing, and free entry. Doesn’t take long to get around though, so only if you’re in the area not a special trip I guess.

Lynwood Gardens: what do users think?

Julie Winter: A great area for a nursery, which is open to the general public at the weekend. Unfortunately at the weekend a couple of weeks ago vandals caused problems. I hope this was an isolated incident as it is a great woodland playground.

Caz Cutts: What a little hidden gem. Behind the Frances Newton Pub . Found on a visit to the Hallamshire hospital. Was greeted by a beautiful fox as I walked towards the gardens. Birdsong beautiful old trees and such a special little place. There is even a community orchard

Heather Reid: Lovely peaceful place, though can get busy when play group is operational. Lots wildlife, big plant variety and knowledgable workers to answer questions about the area.

Jean Russell: A small nature reserve tucked the back of the John Dalton pub with an urban drainage scheme which ends in a pond and a community orchard

Rosie Chitty: Lovely place, well looked after x

Andrew Garrard: Little oasis of woodland in the urban area.

angus heeley: Beautiful.
Karbala12: Do not pass through here, there is a stray wild dog here sometimes who chases after anyone nearby.
RJ Bareggi: Will need massive improvement

Hillsborough Walled Garden: what do users think?

Ian Bromwich: Lovely little garden tucked away in Hillsborough park. The volunteers have done such a wonderful job. Really good access to Depot Bakery as well so you can pick up a coffee and wonder / sit in the garden whilst enjoying your coffee.

Vincent: Quiet and relaxing garden and outdoor space at the top of Hillsborough park. We also visited the community light show which was fantastic.

Dawn Woodhead: Beautiful garden. The volunteers work so hard to make this place lovely.

Richard Arnold: Really like coming here. It is a great little haven; a place to sit and relax and enjoy nature. Lots of colour, all kinds of different planting. Love it.

Eliot Collins: Hillsborough Walled Garden is a hidden gem, a serene little garden nestled in Hillsborough Park by the road. There is a trellis covered with clematis, wisteria and laburnum; weathered bricks surrounding raised beds of vegetables or aromatic flowers; a gentle fountain with many memorial benches and several ornamental trees including acer, flowering cherry and eucalyptus. After a while, you can drown out the road noise and listen to the bird song. The opening hours vary with the season, check first to avoid disappointment.

Bethany Atkins: My favourite place to sit in Hillsborough. Beautiful gardens, well-maintained by friendly volunteers.

melvyn dalley: Nice planting. Good place to relax and enjoy nature. Cafe is also good

Caz Cutts: I have just discovered this little gem of a garden. How beautiful it is. So much wildlife and birdsong right next to a main road and the tram track. The gardens are well set out. Lots of benches to have quiet relax. Lovely artwork and a super little pond.

Karen Cook: Lovely little garden to relax and take in what happend to all those people at the Hillsborough disaster.More to see than you think with the little pond too

Wortley Hall Gardens: what do users think?
S. Shutt: Enjoyed a lovely round walk through the naturalistic grounds with many interesting ancient gnarled trees. Many have name tags and there's the most magnificent Oak at the end of the pond with a good information board about its history. I love all the old iron gates and ornate old gate posts, very interesting. It has a tranquil atmosphere and widespread views from the front of the house. The serving hatch was open for drinks on the terrace but the walled garden was closed on this occasion (Thursday lunchtime)I would recommend researching the history of Wortley Hall especially regarding Lady Mary Wortley Montagu who paved the way in finding a cure for smallpox, also the later history when it was occupied by the army during the second world war and subsequently bought by a cooperative of trade unionists for education and leisure. This very interesting and varied history makes a visit worthwhile. Free access to gardens, mostly good paths with plenty of seats to rest for anyone less able to walk. I use a walking stick and managed a good walk around. Access to the Hall's toilets is possible but it would be polite to purchase refreshments and use the opportunity to admire the interior's public areas.
Peter Hulbert: Always such a peaceful and tranquil place to visit and often overlooked if you want to have a quiet drink surrounded by beautiful gardens. The bar is now open after the lockdown and its a great place to enjoy a bit of refreshment. If you haven't been before, you are missing a little piece of Yorkshire that is draped in history.
Sylwia Łoboda: Nice gardens. Free to walk. Lots of ducks
Nigel ShawMorfitt: Fantastic grounds
jase: Visited for a car show,,great time.
Stewart Haddon: Building is in desperate need of a refurb, gardens are largely unloved, still a nice place to visit but is in desperate need of investment.
David Hulme: Went to classic and vintage car rally
Stephen Radford: It’s free and quiet.
Jane needham Needham: Nice afternoon at Wortley at the vintage car show
Ian Barrett: Hotel, and gardens. Next to Wortley Village.
Jackie Holmes: Around the hall is lovelyI'm not a gardenerbut the grounds or overgrownweeds seem have taken overIt's a shameThe iron gates all rusty it's a shame as there are lovely
David Fox: Beautiful place. Nice gardens. And lovely food and drinks.Playground: No Public restrooms: Yes Off-leash dog area: Yes Picnic tables: Yes …More
Yvonne Fletcher: All kept neat and tidy
Terry Middleton: Lovely local gardens
Dan McCarthy: Great walks, free to enter and lots of ducks. What more could you want?
Paolo Magnani: Bello
Barrie Holland: Nice and peaceful lovely walk in the woods
Rob Connelly: Nice stay at Wortley on business, I had comfy bed and nice room.Food was a tad expensive but tasty
Colette Muir: Lovely place to have a walk x feed the ducks
William Price: It's a nice building but the gardens and grounds are under maintained. The borders are going wild and it's a pity because with a lot more care it could be a lovely place. Nice easy walks nearby.
Philip Parker: I didn't have time to count all the ducks walking in single file, they were so cute
