Graves Gallery: what do users think?

Christopher Freeman: Beautifully presented little art gallery on the edge of the city centre. Friendly and knowledgable staff and comfortable surroundings make this place a welcome oasis - as others have said - in a sometimes bleak and modern landscape.

Ani Lockwood: Plenty of interesting art to get up close to, in a lovely setting. And you need only to give a donation to go round. Nice little gift shop. Friendly staff.

Polly Thomas: Great gallery, relaxed and plenty of artwork to see. A Grayson Perry tapestry, a Damien Hurst and even a Lowry.

Rob Hoult: Really worth a visit. I spent quite some time admiring the wonderful art and the exhibitions change frequently. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will be visiting more in the near future.

L Cc: Out of all the free museums in the city centre this one located on the top floor of the library is definitely the most interesting

Samantha Samantha: Much overlooked beautiful building with just enough inside to enjoy without feeling overwhelmed. Just spend an hour browsing and spending a little longer on things that catch your eye, or while away as much time as you like. There is a suggested donation of £4 per adult.
Purp P: Great little place. Interesting exhibitions. Shame the council is letting such a beautiful building rot though
Mohamed Ahmed: Visiting over a weekend, I was disappointed to see limited opening hours at Sheffield Museums. Not opening at all on a Sunday is an example of a disinterest in public service. The efficiency of closing at 4pm instead of 5pm, as would be expected, saves pennies but no doubt catches people like myself out. Being closed entirely on Sundays only adds insult to injury.
Mark Richards: The Graves Art Gallery is a wonderful arts space in the heart of Sheffield, close to the Crucible and Lyceum theatres, and the Winter Garden. It's on the 3rd floor of the library building. There's an impressive arts collection, with changing exhibitions on a variety of topics. It's well worth a visit.
John Tait: Lacking in exhibited artworks and investment.
Thomas Müthing (theviolinproject.de): Graves Gallery is the smallish municipal art museum in Sheffield, housed on the 3rd floor of the imposing building that is the city's Central Library. About 5 minutes from Sheffield Station. Entry is free, and photography is allowed. Unfortunately, some of the galleries are closed at the moment for refurbishing, so we're temporarily left with some contemporary art (permanent) and an interesting temporary exhibit on the works of Sheffield sculptor George Fullard. His works and the fact that the nearby Millennium Gallery is also an interesting art venue make Graves Gallery worth a visit despite the momentary limitations.
countzorg: A really beautiful building and gallery.I come here every visit to Sheffield. The building alone is a work of art.
Marcin Ostrowski: A place can be interesting and boring at the same time
Ruurd Edens: nice, small collection
Martin Barrott: The library is okay and you can borrow books and use the computer's plus you can visit the art gallery when they are open
Divyen Shah: It's located on 3rd floor of Central Library at City centre
Judith Haslam: It's a quiet contemplative gallery wirh a good collection of Modern Art and Contemporary exhibitions.
Ani: Plenty of interesting art to get up close to, in a lovely setting. And you need only to give a donation to go round. Nice little gift shop. Friendly staff.
G C: Fantastic free gallery with a big variety of art and exhibitions. Well worth a visit when you're in Sheffield.
Esme James: So glad to be able to visit again - a lovely place for quiet contemplation!
Rik McRik: Always make sure I stop by to see the gallery. Beautiful building too.
David Dodd: Lovely place to visit
melanie bryan: Not bad
Richard Hill: Love this place, everyone should visit, donate and buy from the shop for the upkeep of this lovely building it's library and art collection.

Have a little wander in the nearby park too.
David Bowes: Great museum kids enjoyed looking at all the stuffed animals and birds . The Dodo skeleton was most interesting as they had seen a Dodo at the natural History museum a couple of weeks beforeVisited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More
Tom Mohan: I has a horrific time at the western park museum, queuing time took up to an hour and while i was queuing my infant daughter was robbed by mischievous bandits. We decided to go on without her, when just about to enter the museum, she reappeared and the staff made her que from the back of this collosal line despite her traumatising experience with these thuggish hooligans. upon entry, i was greeted with a cup of acid to the face, luckily i had my protective face mask on, nevertheless, my nan fell into a stroke due to the fear of the rogue worker who was pouring oil all over the gaff.

Jo Shepherd: National Heritage fair 2022🧐a great turn out! So many devoted volunteers communicating through various resources to draw your attention of so much history embedded in Sheffield! 🌟🌟🌟

Steve Childe: Enjoyed the displays about Sheffield and other metalwork. Also a current display of football related art. Access through the winter gardens, which contains tropical plants and the Sheffield shop. All free entry.

If that kind person sees this, I offer you a huge THANK YOU. It also shows the caliber of the people who visit the Millennium Gallery!

Angela Blanchard: Lovely friendly café and always intriguing exhibitions. I've visited the display of Sheffield's stainless steel heritage several times now and always find something new to marvel at!
Madeleine Pearce: The Ruskin collection is only a fraction of what should be displayed. Very little of interest or towards his original mission. A terrible shame. The cutlery bit of the museum is stunning, extremely interactive, and has an excellent historiography. The gift shop is a treasure trove if you want to support the museums and find unique gifts. The whole place is very disabled accessible, had little trouble with my wheels or knocking into things.

All in pristine glass cases with a detailed history of each piece. There's a gift shop outside for all things Sheffield including all the Hendersons Relishes - all the same product with different labels - Original orange, Blue & White stripes for The Owls and Red & White stripes for The Blades. There's also the coffee shop downstairs with escalator access and a view of Arundal Gate. Keep your eyes peeled walking around for locally made thought provoking exhibits.

Harps Sohal: A gem of a find hosting contemporary art, I wondered past and had time to take a quick look. Nice cosy gallery for a quick visit and a break from the norm. They have a nice coffee shop and very friendly front of desk staff.

Russell Cutts: The major refurb this place had last year has really made a difference. The gallery is a great space and should be putting on some amazing modern art exhibitions over the coming years. The cafe is top notch and a good place to meet friends and catch up.

Javier Aguado Orea: Very good food, interesting exhibitions, but a city of this size deserves more spaces and larger venues

Gary Hughes: Lovely exhibition. Lots of interactive stuff that my daughter really enjoyed. She especially loved the interactive mask with sprouting fish!!! 👍

denis themenace: Just had lunch at Site Gallery cafe. Food was great. I could have happily eaten one of everything - soup, salad, sandwich, main course, cake - everything looked so appetising. Settled for Shakshuka - eggs baked in tomatoes, red peppers & spinach. Delicious. Will definitely return for more.
Jessica Wilson (sheaf_foodies): Lovely small gallery that's free ! Amazing cafe and cute little shop
Jake Simm: Generally good service and the coffee was lovely but the food left me wondering why I'd paid so much for so little and of moderate quality. Feels like it's making money on its 'look' alone in my opinion.
Fiona Moinuddin: Awesome gallery! Wonderfully curated shop..Great for gifts!
Dominica Wakelam: Our perfect brunch spot when in Sheffield. Will need another visit as the cakes looked gorgeous but was too full 😋
Steve Anwar: Great place, world class contemporary art with a top quality cafe. Great place to spend an hour on lunch.
Slawomir Gocek (lordsinu): All good 😊
slawomir gocek: All good 😊👍
Richard Moore: Very attentive staff, good coffee and a bright young atmosphere, what's not to like. The cakes look great and there is a very quirky gift shop hidden by the entrance, so do take a look.
Lorena Tolosa Selva: Cerrado fines de semana, parece interesante cuando haya algo!
Deborah Egan: Curatorial excellence
Chris Devoto: Fantastic place to eat, staff Great 1st class 👍
Allyson Dorsey: best gallery
Patrick Crowley: "Everything is different today" .. except the opening times apparently ... why don't you open on Tuesdays :-(
traps are NOT gay: Beautifully curated, small but ever-changing exhibitions
Danny: Small but nice, different exhibits on and the staff are friendly.
clare hughes: This place has fab food and great coffee.
Jayne Horsfield: The staff on the front are super lovely, didn't catch the name of the member of staff on today but she was very welcoming and informative! The exhibition space is small but very very impactful, would 100% visit again!
Beth Nicholson: I’ve been here a few times and they always have such a beautiful atmosphere and amazing exhibitions.

The National Videogame Museum: what do users think?
Mike Naylor: When you walk in, it doesn't look like there is enough to entertain you for 3 hours but once you've in you'll find that peice of your childhood and you'll not let it go.The displays feature some great exhibits of the history of gaming for when you need a break from the screen. You get a 3 hour slot and while it tends to be busy at the start of this it does quieten down a bit towards the end. They don't validate parking anymore and the NCP that is close by (Hartshead) is really expensive.I'd park in cheaper car parks and walk a little way, I recommend the car park at West Bar, its 5 minutes walk.
Luke Parnaby: Great afternoon with a class of Y6 children - all sorts of different games and an excellent workshop about building your own controller. Very nostalgic for the adults, too.
Gail Jepson: My son went here and as an avid gamer loved it. Loved seeing all the old console from years ago and also being able to play most of the games. Staff really nice and the place itself was very clean and tidy. Would recommend to anybody who's into gaming. Also I little gift shop there.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes …More
K. Peake: This was an amazing museum to visit, with exhibits about gaming and consoles through the decades! Games can also be played at no additional cost to the admission fee on PCs, consoles and arcades. They were all fun, including well-known ones and more obscure games! The staff welcomed us warmly to the museum, also giving a helping hand when some games were confusing.
Michael Féaux: Loads of fun playing games, really inspiring videos and a great nostalgia element for an 80s kid like me. They even have a power glove- It's so bad!
Claire Swain: Fantastic Place! Full of fun games. I love the retro games. The staff are friendly and helpful. The environment is disabled friendly. The tickets are very reasonable. naomi: lots of games, can spend plenty of time here so good price for time :)
Anton Lapinski: Me and my son loved it here. It's great how interactive the experience is, being hands on with so much history and being immersed in the game play was brilliant. Who wants to just look at old consoles through a sheet of glass and read what games they were famous for when here you can play the games yourself either bringing back memories or learning of their evolution. There's lots of space which makes the place feel airy, and unlike most arcades and videogame shops it doesn't have that unpleasant smell.I really enjoyed playing Time Crisis and would love to see more arcade machines like this in the museum.I was surprised to see that they had a range of consoles set up from 1 all the way up to 8 player. Which would be great if you went as a group.Entry fee for 3 hours is good value as you'd easily spend more than that in an arcade for half an hour's play.
Gareth Rawlings: It's a great place to play old videogames. But there is very little museum. We had a really good time and will probably go again to play the games. But there is very little on history.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes …More
Charlie Johnson: I went there with family. It was really fun and we took photos with the giant Sonic. Would go there again. Only problem was getting inside the buildingVisited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes …More
Cylia: Not a museum. Why don't you change the name to "National Videogame Arcade"? I wouldn't mind tickets being non refundable if they'd been cheaper. Honestly a big waste of time, just a sad room filled with loud children.Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More

As a 17c reenactor, it was such a pleasure to be able to get up and close to the items on display and feel free to explore all the books and crannies of the building. The 2 ladies at the front reception were very warm and welcoming and it was lovely to have a chat with them. They were very happy to answer any questions about the house and its artifacts as well as having good knowledge of the local area and its history in relation to the house.Wonderful example of the preservation of history and heritage.

I've been before to watch a historical knight battle and it was great! Its located in Meersbrooke park and is very close to a grassy hill with a view of the city. There are also 2 playgrounds; one behind it and one down the hill.I would definitely recommend visiting this place!
Steve Ralfe: Walking past and one of the volunteers chatted to me about the house and told me it was free to enter. Had a look around, it’s a cute old house with rooms arranged in period fashion, plus an open indoor space where they host small events, and also a small shop selling related items and work by local artists. The volunteers were very friendly and helpful. Highly worth a look if you’re nearby.
