Travelodge Sheffield Central: what do users think?

Joshua Gifford: Great location for the railway station, friendly staff, and very cheap. The rooms are surprisingly large. You do have to pay for WiFi though and could do with being able to open the window more.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 4/5 | Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great value …More

JO Syms: Stayed for 3 nights in 2 separate trips during the 2023 snooker fortnight.Rooms - Odd numbered rooms face onto the noisy tram line and traffic noise. As the double glazed window wasn't good at keeping out the noise I changed for an even number room which was much quieter but the view out of the window is of just a large brick wall.Room lighting - rather dim , not much natural light due to the wall outside and the actual room lights are at best adequate.Shower was nice with good water pressure.Breakfast - Good , Cooked Food (I had hash brown, bacon and sausage) was hot. Orange Juice was a bit watery.Location - is right next to a good, secure car park which you can get a 50% discount code off the Travelodge website. N.B Car Park has to be paid for via the Car Park operators website before you arrive.Hotel is close to a noisy pub (Norfolk Arms), Most direct route to Crucible theatre / City Centre shops is up a 200m road (Dixon Lane) with disused shops. Dixon Lane is lit ok but is a bit daunting at night as the area has a few dodgy looking people wandering around!Overall decent value for money and would stay again
Glen: Perfect if visiting city centre as 10 min walk into it , beware car parking charges , my car was parked there for 26 hours and I was charged £28 . No discount from hotel .Rooms: 3/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 4/5Hotel highlights Great value …More

Andrew Liversidge: Staff wouldn't let us check in as they 'didn't feel comfortable' letting us stay as I first went in alone (as a 17 year old) before then bringing in my dad who was also meant to be staying so we could check in the room before leaving for the day, they then even refused us check in even with both of us there. Ridiculous as we now have to drive the hour and a half back journey we made to get there first, as well as not knowing whether we'll even get our money back.
SHARNA NELSON: Room was OK. One light not working. No sockets near bed. Shower was amazingly hot. There was a bath too. Usual kettle tea coffee etc. Staff were really nice and helpful. Location was OK. Slightly noisy with the road but it does warn you before you book so expected.Walkability: 10min walk from Sheffield Station. Not ok with a todler and cases. Otherwise not too bad.Food & drinks: Breakfast was great. Full English. Continental. A lot of choice.
Dave Trousers: Standard Travelodge just like any other. The staff that we saw were all friendly and polite and the room was clean and comfortable.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great value …More
Rob Carroll: Professional friendly staff. Clean rooms with comfy beds. Would be better if they did a proper twin room which is the only downside. Couldn't fault all you can eat buffet breakfast.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 4/5Hotel highlights Quiet, Great value …More

Mercure Sheffield St Paul's Hotel & Spa: what do users think?

Magdalena: Pleasant hotel. Room big, beds comfortable (however on both nights I woke up with a dead arm, so not perfect…), pleasant shower, nice staff, pleasant bar area inside the hotel but also nice seating are outside of hotel. Good location, next to the park and next to the winter garden that you can see though the glass wall of the hotel! Nice view from the window and properly working air conditioning. Cookies for the coffee/tea provided :) Not the cleanest hotel though, we found various hair in the bathroom and dust on the floor. A bit of lack of professionalism and privacy protection. The cleaning service knocked to the door but didn’t announce themselves and we were sure that they were knocking to the other room so initially we didn’t say anything and they just opened the door when we definitely weren’t ready to have “guests”. They came back twice and opened the door once again despite of us shouting… Just unprofessional…. We made sure we locked ourselves after that incident:) There was no “don’t disturb” sign provided until that incident happened. The SPA experience was quite average. We went on the Saturday evening and it wasn’t very busy which was nice but there were just few lockers available after you pass the showers, so you have to carry your bags and leave them unattended when you are taking the shower, it was very strange. Swimming pool was pleasant and not too busy but everything around felt a bit dirty and not really well maintained. Make sure to bring flip flops as floor is extremely slippery and wet. The SPA is nice to have if you are already there but I wouldn’t book the hotel just to use the SPA. The SPA had swimming pool, very hot sauna, steam room, aroma room (steam room), cold shower room with ice in the sink (?), “the experience shower” which was … just a normal nice shower, sun beds, chairs, tables next to the swimming pool. No safe guards (but it was only 1.2m deep), no music, no jacuzzi or any bubbles :( Nice and pleasant stay but probably too expensive (120£ a night), for what you are getting :)

thomas speak: Stopped here during my wedding overall was really good stay. Unfortunately due to confusion with booking they tried to kick us out of our room midway through the stay but this was quickly sorted and the staff were very helpful. The room was clean. Breakfast was reasonable for the price. Ideally situated for the town hall.
Andrew Hobson: Love this hotel. We had the after event party from the World Snooker Championship. Well worth a visit if you are looking for a hotel in Sheffield.Hotel highlights Luxury, Kid-friendly, Great value …More
Olanzy Tone: A nice place
Nixi V: Staff were friendly & helpful. The room was spacious & the bed very comfortable. We were given the overnight stay with spa access as a gift, so overall experience was lovely but the treatments were all booked & this wasn't detailed on the voucher, as we would have prebooked, so we only used the basic facilities, which were pleasant but not overwhelming & clearer signage would've been good. The breakfast was delicious & lots of choice, although the machine coffee was disappointing. The biggest let down was the evening meal. The food had flavour but appeared to be from the freezer & the chips were undercooked.
Kevin Basnett: Beautiful hotel.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Zoe Yeates: A really lovely hotel, great bar & spacious rooms very clean too. Buffet style breakfast very tasty and plenty of it. The staff are helpful and we will definitely be going back at some point 👍🏼Rooms: Very spacious and clean
Ana-maria Croke: It really is such a great shame that this hotel has the most dated rooms. The bed linens are worn, the protectors are too small for the beds, the bathrooms are clean but shocking for the calibre of this hotel. Room service is awful and doesn't operate after 9pm. TV in my room too small for the room and if you wanted to change channel you had to get up to do so as the control didn't have the capability to cope with the distance. The hotel is in desperate need of a refurb. I have stayed twice and I absolutely will not stay again guests deserve better and so do the staff, they are all delightful and helpful but they should have somewhere better to work..
David Helliwell: As good as always. Love this hotel. Made to feel very welcome. Food is excellent. Just wanted a sandwich in the afternoon but had finished doing sandwiches. Made us a wonderful sandwich in any case.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Amanda Stephenson: Excellent stay. In the heart of the city centre so close to pubs, restaurants and theatresAlso car parking is very close by but equally it is not too far to the train station eitherNearby activities: Pubs theatres shops restaurantsWalkability: Centre of the city
Linzi Haughton: We have been looking forward to this trip away since Xmas. First night away from the kids in months and we were bitterly disappointed!!I applied for an upgrade and the room we wanted wasn't available so I called the hotel a week before to see what my options were. The guy I spoke to said we had been placed in a privilege room which had a bigger bed and soft drinks. I asked the cost of this and he said we had been upgraded for free. When we arrived not only was our room not ready at 3pm but we were told there was an extra charge. I asked why and was told because of the upgrade. I explained the situation and the receptionist basically shrugged her shoulders and asked if we would like to have our original room (no upgrade). When we finally got in the room we had no welcome letter, no menu,no do not not disturb sign (as stated on the wall) .Spa - reception told us to get robes from the spa, spa told us to go to reception. Facilities for the cost were pretty poor. 2nd day again we asked for robes and this time we were told we had to pay for them!Upon returning to the hotel after the theatre we were hungry as hadn't eaten. Asked advice from the receptionist who could only recommend McDonald's.The barman also told me they wouldn't do room service (for drinks) at that time 11.30pm.I spoke to a few other guests who had also experienced various problems, no heating in the room, TV not working.....We felt very deflated when we left.
John Southworth: Excellent stay, setting and facilities were superbRooms: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury …More
Colin Naylor: The location of the Mercure in Sheffield is superb, especially if you are visiting the Crucible theatre. The spa facilities are great and they have a sauna, a steam room and an ice room; where, if you wish, you can douse yourself with ice whilst in an ice cold shower. What bliss! My room was a bit warm as the thermostatic control on the wall didn't seem to do anything; but they took this on board when I checked out.
Julie Arnull: Started to visit crucible and the location is perfect. Can even watch the TV coverage in the winter Gardens from the hotel. Staff were all lovely. Bar was pleasant and airy.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
jon lunn: Very nice hotel, will need refurbishing soon, lounge chairs definitely need throwing away & new ones placed inStaff all organised great breakfast as ever
Keith Foster: First timer to stay in the city centre of Sheffield. The hotel is ideally located, with the bar and restaurant area overlooking the winter garden, which adds a great feel to the experience. The rooms are spacious and well equipped and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Kid-friendly …More
Rebecca Isaacs: Me and my mom came for a spa day and had a lovely time!! Both had a treatment and used the spa facilities. Lovely staff and location the spa just needs a bit of tlc in my opinion. I would definitely come back though as it was a lovely day. I would also do the afternoon tea next time. Would have stayed longer if booked that. Can't wait to come again.

Hotel Mercure Sheffield Kenwood Hall & Spa: what do users think?

iPhone Timer: I recently stayed here for one night. I’m going to list the pros and cons. Pros: - Lovely staff - Spa was great. I had the entire spa to myself and the jacuzzi had great water pressure and was relaxing. Spent about 40 minutes in there. Go in the morning (8am on Weekends) to get it to yourself. - Rooms were good enough. I had a good nights rest; I couldn’t really hear anyone from the other rooms so I wasn’t disturbed. - Shower Pressure was amazing. It was strong. - Showers had freezing cold water. I’m a bit of an oddball as I like showering with cold water, so when the water was extremely cold, that was a plus in my books. The water can be warm and hot too, don’t worry lol. - The location is also really good. It’s not too far away which means that I ordered food to the hotel. The delivery driver found the hotel easily. Cons: - On arrival, I had to wait around 5-6 minutes for a receptionist to be at the front desk. This happened again when I wanted to ask a question. You need to wait around a bit for someone to appear. Theres no bell or anything. - Steam room could be hotter. - Shower knob kept coming off. - Pillows could be firmer. - Rooms did look tired, but that’s not a big problem.
Purple Teapot: 1 family room for 2 people, 1 privilege room for 1 person. Privilege room was superb. Family room was okay. Hotel is generally looking a bit shabby these days. There was a problem with noise on the afternoon/evening of arrival. Very very loud music, clapping and shouting was a real hindrance to getting any rest.Breakfast was moved from the spacious dining room to the cramped Laura Ashely Cafe and spread over several rooms and located further away. Rather a nuisance to get your food and for the waiters to replace anything. The plates were stone cold making the food go cold before you could eat it.
Brendan Wragg: We had our Presentation evening here.Good location, amazing grounds.Only criticism for us was lack of bar staff. .
Denise Wilson: One night stay with friends. Room had everything we needed, but unfortunately it was not very clean. There was a gigantic cobweb on the wall, scuff marks and curling wallpaper. Helpful staff on reception. Breakfasts nice but basic.Rooms: 2/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 4/5Hotel highlights Quiet …More
Hannah's Adventures in Nature: I was disappointed with this Hotel. Maybe we were just unlucky with the location of our room (and the fact that there was a wedding on our second night) but my goodness the noise level was loud. Luckily I was tired and had my rain machine with me which managed to drown out the disco, but I can understand why there are other people complaining in reviews about this issue (that I stupidly hadn't read before booking because I was more focused on the location than anything else). Our room was a standard size. The bathroom absolutely stank like when you go in motorway services toilets - it wasn't pleasant. The lighting in the room was a bit odd too - no lights on the ceiling, just lamps next to the bed.Breakfast was OK, but the buffet was small. My mushrooms were cold too.For a hotel that has over 500 rooms the swimming pool is TINY. As soon as there are, I'd say 4 adults in it, it felt too busy, and as for doing any actual swimming, I managed 5 breast strokes from one side to the other. The jacuzzi is tiny too, as are the saunas. I'm not really sure why other people are raving about these in other reviews - I felt like these facilities really let the hotel down, especially as its got "spa" in its name (I mean, I have been to quite a few spa hotels and maybe I've just been spoilt by the quality of those but I expect more than what this hotel really had to offer). They were also fully booked for massages when I rang so I ended up booking with someone locally instead (and did not regret it). Also, the bar area is weird. There's a sort of sitting area in front of the bar (which is small and hardly seemed to be staffed) and then another seating area with a TV screen. It didn't feel like a welcoming area, and when there is a large group sat down, the noise levels were too high for me. I didn't feel comfortable to just sit and lounge and chat.So the main saving grace for me about this hotel, is that the location is good, there are some nice local pubs nearby and other facilities. But overall, I don't think I'll be booking here again anytime soon.
Amy Mallender: The room was covered in dust, bathroom was mouldy and had seen better days, sun bleached chair also covered in dust and broken draws! Exactly what you expect when you pay £116 / night. Clearly the room had not been used for a while and had just thrown together! There is no excuse for a room to not be clean! Oh and the bed was really old and the mattress was terrible, we left at 6.45 to go home and get some sleep. What a shame as the actual building is stunning and the area and setting were to die for!
Ifedi Ohiaeri: Lodged in one of the Privilege bedrooms. Was very nice & spacious. Most of the TV channels were glitching though.Had breakfast before checking out and I loved it.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great view, Quiet …More

Ieva Issa: Avoid at all costs, shocking customer service! My husband had a business stay at this so-called hotel. He was charged twice and they refuse to refund the money even after admitting their mistake. He has spoken to multiple people, they have a record of charging him wrongfully and still asking him to provide card details which you'd think they already have on their system (which they do!). This has now been officially passed on to trading standards and the bank is also dealing with returning the payment. Very unprofessional. Do not choose this place for the sake of your own sanity.

Stevid (HolyEmpire1): It's okay, and the rooms near reception and function rooms may be good.Heaven help you if they put you at the far end of the hotel on the 2nd or 3rd floors. You step through a portal to the 1980s. Very dated and crying out for a refurb.Rooms: 2/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 3/5Hotel highlights Quiet, Great value …More
Joanne Khurram: Spa morning was lovely, really nice start to the day! Amazing facials given by Becky and Sally.. extremely relaxing, great facial, lovely, friendly and professional!Service: 4/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Gill Stenning: Very comfy bed.Staff all very helpful and friendly.Rooms could have more soft furnishings - pictures etc, otherwise very comfortable
Paul Green: The room had a broken television screen, a lamp with no light bulb and a large tear in the carpet. But the room was comfortable, and spacious. The bed was very soft, sinking into it as soon as you sit/lay on it.The grounds were beautiful, and a stroll around the fishing lake is a must.No food at breakfast is labelled for anyone with allergies or any intolerance, so this could be looked into. The swimming pool is okay, with a small popular hot tub. The sauna is, well, a sauna!
Sooraj Ashraf: Really cosy and very nice location. Lakeview, lawn, dog park, spa, outdoor geodesic dome. Really liked the venue.Never stayed here, came for an event. So dont know about the rooms. The common bathrooms were mediocre.
Laura Fox: I visited the spa recently, I had a treatment by sally which was brilliant. However the spa wasn’t relaxing… there was lots of people using the facilities, including children splashing in the pool which didn’t make this a relaxing day which I’d really looked forward to. The pool area is very tired and in need of some cleaning and repairs. There is tiles missing from the pool & rusty brown marks which don’t look nice. The changing room showers had razor blades left in there and lots of hair. We were one of the first to use the facilities so it makes me wonder how long this had been there? Just needs a clean round.
Rich W: We attended a community event hosted by the hotel. Cream teas were on offer. We thought it would be rude not to. There was a slow queue. I was then given the hot drinks in takeaway cups. I asked for a slimline tonic for my toddler (see image). I noted it was rung up as 'pint of lemonade'. I queried the price as it was £5!!! I was assured that was correct. I then did that very British thing of not wanting to make a fuss at the head of quite a long queue. So i paid and took the drinks to where I had indicated we would be seated. The scones would be brought over shortly. We waited. Then we waited a bit more. After about 15 minutes i went to ask about the scones. They would be brought straight over. They were not. After about 25 minutes people sitting near me were served their cream teas with an apology for the service delay. I realised they had been about four places behind me in the queue. So i asked the member of staff who brought those teas over where my scones were. About five minutes later one plate was brought over. I pointed out that i had ordered two cream teas. The staff member stomped off. After a few more minutes she returned and wordlessly thumped another plate of scones onto the table so hard that the dusting of sugary stuff jumped in the air. I realised there were no knives or napkins, so had to return again to the bar for those. So there we go. £5 for 125ml of slimline tonic ( i am a tital mug for not saying 'no thanks'). Appalling service in general.
Joe Kemp: Need of quite a lot of work to bring it up to standard. Old rooms, poor information about the spa, cleanliness could have been better, lack of staff in reception and bar and strange smells in hallway outside our room. Possibly damp. Won't be staying again. A shame as a great location that could do so much better.Rooms: 2/5|Service: 3/5|Location: 4/5 …More

DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield Park: what do users think?

David: Excellent stay at this well positioned hotel within easy reach of the Peak District. The staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble in their aim to ensure you have a great time. Breakfast had a really good selection and evening dinner was equally of a high standard with service from the staff second to none! A big thanks to Rebecca and Will on reception who really go the extra mile with such amazing customer focus not normally experienced these days. We will definitely be back soon to enjoy this hotel once again with the help of its first class staff!

Julien Bernard Jean-Denis: Great location for a nice weekend in the Peak District. Everything was alright with the room except that the door of the fridge cabinet was found broken. The access to the swimming pool is no longer free for the adult guests: GBP 5.00 per adult per hour (you now need to book in advance) - kids go free. The quality of the food at the restaurant is fabulous, but the overall experience was a little bit diminished because of the presence of numerous flies in the dining room - not sure if this is a seasonal phenomenon or whether this is due to high temperatures of this summer).

Rob Forbes: We stay in one of the newer room which was nice and clean. The hotel is spacious with lots of parking. Located outside of Sheffield, so was quiet. Barbara Smith: I was very fortunate to win an afternoon tea in the Marco Pierre White restaurant at the Double Tree by Hilton in Sheffield for King Charles 3 Coronation. We arrived for our allotted time and was met by the lovely Rebecca. She showed us to our table and took our drink order. We were served our afternoon tea which was very nice with a selection of sandwiches, scones, jam and cream. A selection of lovely cakes(which we had to take home) and macaroons, all washed down with a glass of Prosecco. Also on the table were Coronation decorations and a beautiful keepsake cloth napkin embroidered with the Coronation logo. A wonderful keepsake for such a special occasion. The whole event was wonderful and my Hubby and I enjoyed it immensely.Thankyou so much and special thanks to Rebecca for looking after us so well. illremember thistime: My in-laws stayed here for a quick visit and had a bad experience. They got in late due to cancelled trains and despite letting the hotel know in advance had to wait a good 10 minutes before anybody showed up.They booked a room with a queen bed and were given a double in a room with non functioning heating, which they failed to fix.At least they were moved to a new room, which was fine.To top it all off they were charged an extra £200 with no explanation (only realized after they got the credit card bill)Edit:Looks like they refunded the money
Ian Rockett: Had afternoon tea at Marco Pierre White restaurant was very very lovely. Would recommend. Very clean and staff lovely.

Terrible thing Management controls the room temperature from the front desk!!! They say they don't but they were asking us "what temperature do you want" and it would change on wall gage . Well as you know it varies - we wanted control. We were SO uncomfortable and miserable ALL night, just exhausted from not being in control, too hot, too cold, NO fan we like the sound. Terrible policy to save money and lie about it. Shame on them.Breakfast was standard for a Double Tree, nice, breakfast staff was friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable and shower was nice but I'm so disappointed.

Casa Hotel: what do users think?

Cleantha K: This has been one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff are incredible, helpful and a pleasure to talk to, not forgetting to mention how they go above and beyond. The food in the restaurant is delightful too. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed at a hotel where I feel so welcome. It’s an absolute privilege to stay here. The rooms are very reasonably priced for the service you get and how clean your room will be too. I will definitely be staying again.

The girl in the bar (sorry; didn’t catch her name) was an amazing mixologist and Emily (in the restaurant) was helpful, professional and knowledgeable beyond her years! Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Bath area was spic clean, and loved the fact there was an actual shower area rather than a bathtub. Well thought interiors. Just a couple of plug points beside the bed would have been very convenient.Rooms: Cozy rooms, comfortable beds.Food & drinks: We could have only the breakfast. Top notch stuff on whatever was there. Perfect Poached were made when requested.
James Strickland: I honestly cant praise this hotel and all the staff enough. Have visited often whilst working in the area so I know its not a fluke :)Rooms: High quality, comfortable and inspiringFood & drinks: Outstanding menu and quality preparation and presentation.

As was the food which lots of people complimented.Thank you again

Anne-Marie Halford: Was at nieces baby christening been here previously staff very professional and helpfulNearby activities: Shops and food outlets all within walking distance
Ash Hayes-Kowalczyk: We stayed one night at Casa in a Balcony Hot Tub Suite to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately we were unable to use and enjoy the hot tub for most of the evening as some of guests at the hotel (part of a function the hotel had on) were shouting and smoking cannabis. We were then woken in the morning by other guests constantly knocking on doors and slamming doors.Unable to recommend. We won’t be returning.

Anna Augustin: Allan and Barbara Campbell are wonderful hosts and we were looked after very well, so we had a magnificent stay at Cowclose Farm in May 2019. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the breakfasts (with very good homemade bread) are really delicious (Barbara's homemade marmalade is smashing!) and the views of the rolling Derbyshire countryside are breathtaking. We highly recommend this place!!!
Jack Carvey: Very nice, clean and tidy, couldn't complain, Barbara, had made some nice tarts as well for our stay, would come back again!
Carol Milner: Had a really lovely overnight stay here in the bed and breakfast after attending a local wedding! We were given tea and cake upon our arrival, which was homemade by Barbara! The room had lovely views out of both windows and the largest king size bed I have ever seen. It was so comfy we both had a great nights sleep. Home cooked breakfast the next morning was absolutely delicious and Barbara and her husband Allan couldn’t have been more welcoming - would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay as a base for walking or just relaxing in the countryside. There’s a great little pub just over the road too which serves really good food so all in all a very well situated place to stay!

Fresh milk daily in your room was a lovely touch too, especially because I had a toddler. The TV could do with an upgrade though.
