Liam Bolger
Liam Bolger: Quiet. Quick and polite staff. Exactly what you want.
William Mole
William Mole: Superb service if somewhat stretched at times, staff are friendly, competent and approachable, and facilities are increasingly being modernised and upgraded. The only bug is parking space, nowhere near as bad as the Hallamshire, it can still present a problem for those in ill health and their carers, not to mention ancillary staffs access on a daily basis.
Alan Miller
Alan Miller: Excellent staff and fantastic hospital who recently looked after my wife. I have one complaint and that is parking. I came to visit and it took me over an hour to find a parking spot.
Blighty Expat
Blighty Expat: Highly competent surgeons, nurses and staff, they provide an amazing service in what is a stressful environment every day.
Simon Barlow

Roggy T
Roggy T: Just had icd replaced fantastic brilliant couldn't do enough for you
Angela Daley
Angela Daley: I have been saved more times than a bad sitcom at Northern General, to the point where some of the staff recognised me the last time I was rushed in! 🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️The cardiologist that have treated me in the past & saved my life are awesome! The nurses working within the NHS deserve a decent pay rise for their dedication to helping people recover from their illness whatever it may be.I don't stay for the food, (yeukky! 🤢) I stay to get better & entertain the staff! Lol!

Tony Haras
Tony Haras: I'm here for surgery. Hospital is clean and as per usual the staff are fantastic. Just a shame a percentage of the patience aren't of the same demeanor. One thing that aggregates me more than anything is the hospital not adhereing to it's no smoking policy. This goes for all the hospitals I have visited. Best thing is to set aside an area for patience to smoke away from the main entrances so others can actually enjoy a breath of fresh air if they are able.
Andy Sutton
Andy Sutton: Absolutely superb wing we all take the NHS for granted & it's not until you need the NHS that you realise what a superb job they do under difficult circumstances thankyou Chesterman Wing

Alan Cull
Alan Cull: The staff at Thornbury are of the highest order. I recently had a night in Mappin and the staff attention was superb. Thank you to all of you.
Hannah Saxby
Hannah Saxby: My whole Thornbury experience has been brilliant. From seeing the consultant on the outpatient's department, to dealing with pre assessment and in particular Sister Marley who has been impeccable with her constant updates following an unfortunate operation date cancellation out of her control. And then on the ward and down in theatres and recovery I can not fault them one bit.I took a while to come round in recovery but I felt so safe and cared for.The catering staff were so kind and went out of their way to make me an iced coffee which was gratefully received following my surgery.Everyone I came into contact with made the whole experience smooth and effective.Would definitely recommend.
Oliver Wilson
Oliver Wilson: I was taken very good care of - right from being collected from reception to being discharged. Nothing could have been any better. Thank you!
Liane Long
Liane Long: I received excellent care from the moment i arrived. All staff introduced themselves to me and treated me with respect throughout my stay, everything was explained to me regarding my procedure (partial knee replacement) discharge, physio, meal times, (the food was excellent) follow up. And my room was nice and clean too. I would fully recommend Thornbury Hospital and its wonderful caring team.
Richard Umpleby
Richard Umpleby: There was dried blood on side of bed and bed control - not very pleasant.Food was ok, maybe I expected a little bit more given private hospital. But extremely happy with the support and care I received from all the staff.
Kimberley France
Kimberley France: I had an operation at Thornbury on Wednesday and I have to say what a good experience it was.Unfortunately I had a small upset the day after and had to return. This is when good became fabulous. I had a Hannah and Hannah sandwich and they, while maintaining their professionalism, made me feel very at ease and welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and they were amazing while dealing with my pain and wound etc. Very knowledgeable, kind and thoughtful. Thank you Hannah's! X
M Richardson
M Richardson: My overall experience was absolutely as it should be. From entering to leaving the hospital I was treated with friendliness, kindness, understanding and professionalism. I was not worried about the operation but if I had been I’m sure the staff would have been there for me. I can’t thank everybody who helped me enough !!A big thank you !Martin
Elizabeth Lyon
Elizabeth Lyon: I was super impressed by the speed, efficiency of the whole process. As soon as the referral had left my GP, within afew days I already had a consultation booked with Dr Chapple.I was seen so quickly. The engagements with your clinical staff have also been exemplary. The staff have been kind, caring, reassuring and professional.I feel incredibly lucky that as an NHS patient, I was able to be referred into Thornbury Hospital. Amazing service. It makes me think about going completely private.Thankyou so so much to all the staff at Thornbury - I appreciate everything you have done.
W Ali

Barry Wilson
Barry Wilson: The attention to detail, friendliness of staff and the entire process was exceptional
Christine Brightmore
Christine Brightmore: Everyone from porters, catering, physio, nurses and anaesthetist were very friendly and helpful.

Linda Civitillo: I saw both Dr Niki Baxter and Mr A Baxter / received treatment and I can highly recommend both of them excellent treatment and after care
Josh Blastland
Josh Blastland: Wow what can I say this is one of the best hospitals I've ever been to the staff was out of this world you can ring the bell 20 times in 5 minutes and nothing is to much trouble, with my traveling the distance I had no visitors but I had a porter there called Ashley instead of just ditching me in a room he sat with me having no more calls we had a laugh he sat me up brought my dinner to me, and had visits from both physiotherapist's visit me to make sure I could use the crutches and making sure my leg brace was comfortable. Just brilliant thank you so so much
lisa blastland
lisa blastland: My son Joshua recently came in 4 an operation on knee, was spotlessly clean, very kind welcoming staff, food was well prepared and of excellent quality, special thankyou to the brilliant porter Ashley who took time out to help n sit with Joshua and spent time with him as he had no visitors due to distance, made Joshua's stay more pleasant, thankyou to all staff, hope they enjoyed the chocolates xx
Daniel Harrington
Daniel Harrington: I was put at ease throughout, all the staff were friendly and helpful, Lynn was particularly helpful and the ladies during the procedure, Diana and Michelle were very comforting during an uncomfortable procedure. I will never use the NHS again if I can and will recommend your staff and facilities
L R
L R: Surgery cancelled twice so far.First time with just 18 hours notice.Second time being seconds before going into theatre after being on the ward for 6 hours. Not a nice experience when suffering with anxiety and mentally preparing yourself for the operation. Not to mention the time booked off work and planning support/childcare!Hoping it’s third time lucky!UPDATE: change from 1 star to 4 stars (would be 5 stars if not cancelled twice).Surgery went ahead after the third attempt. All staff were kind and attentive. Happy with how my procedure went.Room was clean and comfortable.
linzi malone
linzi malone: I had a procedure at Thornbury yesterday. Fantastic care from the moment I walked in until the minute I left . I'd like to highlight Julie (nurse) and Dan (cook) . They clearly care about their patients and this can be seen in their actions . They are a credit to the hospital and the ward .I would strongly recommend this hospital for any procedure.Fantastic consultant, brilliant nurses and superb staff .
Emma Harris
Emma Harris: I cannot fault any part of the service. The service was personal and professional in equal measures. I highly recommend Thornbury Hospital.

Northern General Hospital: what do users think?
Katie marie Pendlebury
Katie marie Pendlebury: I would care to thank all of the staff and most of all Paul Brewer who performed my father's surgery. My mother would like to thank everyone as well including a big thank you to Priya who has been caring for my dad the 2 days he has been in the hospital . I owe it all to Paul Brewer for executing this to a fantastic standard and preventing my dad from being paralysed. Thank you so so so much. Xxx
Sandra Norman
Sandra Norman: My son Dean Pendlebury wishes to thank Paul Brewer who performed his surgery and nurse Priya..who has given Dean excellent care the past 2 days..Dean's family cannot thank you enough xxx
David Hacker
David Hacker: Came to visit a friend in NGH arrived at 9.45 at 11.45 still hadn't found anywhere to park. Must have tried every carpark on site no joy. Our friend is in the spinal unit where there is a carpark in front so thought sit and wait after waiting 45 minutes and not one person came out,a parking warden came checking cars and said it's a nightmare as most of the spaces are taken by staff that shouldn't be parking there. So frustrating as we had travelled over 30 miles to see a friend and we couldn't park. Please please sort this out, if this what regular visitors have to deal with it's horrific.
Julie Myers
Julie Myers: Great place lucky to have a great hospital
Ernie More
Ernie More: Great plesent staff
spider girl
spider girl: Doctor ignored every word I said.
valerie ekeogu
valerie ekeogu: The hospital is very big, their staff are friendly and helpful.
Mohammed Yasin
Mohammed Yasin: Caring staff
Claire Robinson
Claire Robinson: My GP arranged for me to have an ultrasound here and it couldn't have been a better experience under the circumstances. There was a 10 minute waiting time and two scans took about 10-15 minutes. Leanna and Julie could not have been any nicer - both so calm, patient and understanding. A huge thanks to them both.
Rachel Higgins-Kay
Rachel Higgins-Kay: Nursing staff are phenomenal. A&E staff ridiculously overrun and getting abuse but amazing. Firth 6, day nurses (Simon and a student called Esther) were fantastic and couldn't do enough. The doctors, however, were less than ideal. Wouldn't listen to problems and were just pushing people out of the door without assessing properly. It would be a 0 star rating if wasn't for the incredible nursing team. They need much more than a 15% pay rise.
SuSpiCiouS TV
SuSpiCiouS TV: Full whit homeless people that smells like dead !!! Can't wait for a treatment while 10 ppl are keep begging for money !!!
John Hunt
John Hunt: It's a hospital. Nothing much you can add to that really. Car parking is absolute rubbish. Nowhere near enough of it so arrive way before your appointment so you can get parked up.
norva va
norva va: The worst place I have ever been. Waiting for 7 hours....ent up with another infection
Sandra Tenytė
Sandra Tenytė: Very good service. First time I got so quick treatment in UK. It took only 20min to get help.
Sheila
Sheila: I recently had a colonoscopy at the Northern General. I chose gas and air instead of sedation. It wasn't painful, just uncomfortable. The staff were amazing, constantly checking I was doing OK. I was even given coffee and biscuits afterwards. I was put at ease the whole time. Thank you everyone.
David Fox
David Fox: Good
Ray Hodgson
Ray Hodgson: Today i have taken a friend to the Eye imaging hub we first went to Hallamshire to be told moved to the general on getting to the main entrance we where given directions to the wrong department so another map and a walk to find the right place we came to a fence so we looked for someone to direct us eventually finding the lady that used to work in the building before it was converted to the eye imaging up why there is no sign of Job. I haven’t got a clue we didn’t see a sign anti-war nearly on top of the building. We were late for the appointment. We were lucky with the staff so my friend because I could’ve refused. This is what cost the NHS money because people cannot find the department. They are looking for a very frustrating afternoon from arriving an hour early for an appointment to get in there 3/ quarters of an hour late.
gareth buxton
gareth buxton: If it wasnt for the staff at this hospital. I wouldnt be here writing this now. 2 hours from making my 999 call i was treated for a heart attack and on a ward recovering. I wouldnt be here if it wasnt for the speed and expertise of all the cardic team on the 30th of jan. Problems with the nhs come from higher up not from the hard work of doctors, nurses, paramedics, and all the faces we see. These work miracles every day
Ethan Romney
Ethan Romney: There service is awful and they have no idea of personal space asking to go toilet having to argue with them so they come up with I should go toilet in a bucket while they can see me .
Che Kelly
Che Kelly: This is not my experience but one of my familys. They only gave him 2 options for food which he didn't like so he resived nothing. He had a fan and they took it away. Horrible service and rude staff.
Joanne Shepherd (JoBone)
Joanne Shepherd (JoBone): Cardiology was a piece of cake 👍 all the staff looked after Mum.

Nikki Keeley

Alex Edwards
Alex Edwards: I had a Septorhinoplasty operation at Claremont Private Hospital in Sheffield in September 2021 at the cost of £6000 with Mr Dujon and Mr Parker. The results are very poor and I'm extremely disappointed. In consultation both surgeons promised me that a revision surgery would be done if the results were poor. This reassurance was the ONLY reason I went ahead. After the surgery they didn't honour this .commitment.The follow up appointments are a joke, five minutes at the most where your concerns are met with arrogant disinterest.I've tried to raise my concerns with the hospital director who launched an "Investigation" which amounted to nothing but a whitewash, they Investigate themselves and find no wrong doing? Well imagine that. When you try to follow up you get ghosted by the hospital director.I would advise anyone who is thinking about using this hospital or these surgeons, DON'T.
Maddie B
Maddie B: I had a brain and neck mri scan today and going in i felt a little nervous as i had never had one before. The lovely lady who reassured me and held my hand into the machine was an angel. It was over very fast and i felt comfortable and safe. Thankyou very much to all for a pleasurable experience.🖤

Gail Cross
Gail Cross: Just back from a total hip replacement. Absolutely faultless experience. All staff attentive, efficient, reassuring, professional. Food superb. Sara was my nurse as I was discharged. Just a level of excellence I haven’t experienced before.
javid aktar
javid aktar: I've had 2xrays on my left ankle and a Bony lump was picked up on the xrays.I went to spire hospital to have a mri scan the consultant MARK DAVIS SAID HE CAN'T SEE NOTHING ,Amazing. I've been to spire 3 times now and today I was told I need to get another scan done,me and my doctor can CLEARLY SEE THE BONY LUMP. THIS CLOWN SHOULDN'T BE A CONSULTANT he should be performing in the circus. This so called consultant has a Bad attitude and AND WAS VERY UNHELPFUL.
Jane Angell
Jane Angell: Always brilliant. Staff lovely and caring
Henry
Henry: Excellent! Staff helpful and friendly, professional service, free parking, nice and warm building (wintertime), tea and coffee. Very good all round.
John Belk
John Belk: Admitted for day surgery for a hernia repair. The facilities were good and all the staff conducted business with a nice smile and professional communication. Cant fault the service, keep up the good wirk.
Anne Hunter
Anne Hunter: I attended an appointment with Mr Bacon Neurosurgeon after being referred urgently from the NHS. I had been in excruciating pain for months in my lumbar region and had an urgent MRI at Barnsley Hospital September 30th for Cauda Equine Syndrome due to the red flags. The doctor Gabriella in A and E was brilliant and very caring and explained that good news it was not CES but a definite risk due to herniated discs and narrowing of the lumbar vertebrae and the nerves being so close and I should be seen urgently by a surgeon to assess this and pain relief. I must also attend A and E urgently should the numbness in the saddle region happened again.Forward to November 15th - should have been 17th with orthopaedic surgeon changed to neurosurgeon - receptionists very courteous.Mr Bacon called me into his room, didn’t introduce himself and before I had chance to sit down confirmed my age, what allergies I had, what had happened and when I tried to explain the history he stopped me and said only recent. 2 minutes top at this point. He did not ask where pain was, the extent or had I had any treatment, no examination either even though I was struggling to walk and crying with pain. He ignored my total distress and brought up MRI and patronisingly explained it and said it isn’t CES I can’t help you which he repeated several times. He dismissed my attempt to say I knew it wasn’t CES but had been referred for the discs and risk of CES not for CES and when I asked if I should attend A and E again if I got red flags he said there was no point. He said he would write to the GP for a referral to the musculoskeletal clinic. Moreover he also dismissed the report by the MRI doctor as generic. It didn’t even look like my scan. He just repeated again it’s not CES. I asked what I could do to stop the unceasing pain he shrugged his shoulders and said swim. Explained couldn’t do that yet due to total knee replacement in June so he said walk in water I can’t help you. I was so distressed and he didn’t even ask if I was ok or say sorry. Nothing. As I left he said it was good news it wasn’t CES and I said yes I knew it wasn’t. When I got back in the car collapsed and sobbed. I am asking for a second opinion but belief had I paid I may have been treated differently. I lost hope of getting my life back and felt like giving up. Why did take 40 minutes to get to Claremount to spend less than 15 minutes with an arrogant, rude surgeon when he could have said had he reviewed his list save me the bother of travelling and cruel treatment. Why because I hoped this man could help me. He treated me in a disrespectful and callous manner. I was and am very saddened by my treatment and suspect nothing would be done about it.
douglas griffiths
douglas griffiths: I was in claremont hospital last week (5th nov) to have my branch block done by Dr. Bendinger (facet joint injections) and i have nothing but praise for the staff and from when i first walked in, the receptionist made me feel welcome, i was seen in my allocated time, and i felt amazing after the injections, i had been struggling with lower back pain for over 2yrs, so i just want to say thank you to all staff, Dr Bendinger and his staff in theatre and Darren for wheeling me in theatre and Tracy who took my blood pressure and made me feel at ease, i apologise if i missed someone out, now that Dr Bendinger knows that is where the pain was hopefully i get into Claremont again to cut the nerves what started the problem soon. Very Kind Regards Douglas Griffiths.
Sarah Louise
Sarah Louise: I had spinal surgery here under the NHS and I could not fault it. My treatment was amazing, the Dr's, nurse's, consultants, health care assistants, cleaners, reception staff, porters, and everyone else I had contact with were fantastic. The private rooms are exceptional, especially the ones with the woodland view, definitely takes your mind off the pain for a while ☺️ The room was immaculately clean, with private en suite. The meals were restaurant quality, homemade soup etc. Nothing was too much trouble and I would definitely choose this hospital again
Rayraro
Rayraro: Amputated the wrong leg
leonard johnson
leonard johnson: I received treatment on my spine at Claremont it was a while ago , around 2010 and I had been in so much pain from damage to t7 that I honestly became suicidal, it was torture daily for between 10 to 15 hrs every day for 20 yrs and I had given up hope of reprieve. Then I got sent to Claremont to see a spinal surgeon whose first words were ‘ you must be in an incredible amount of pain’ and began work. This man literally saved my life, I was given a new treatment called radiotherapy and the next day the pain was gone…! Not completely but it made it possible for me to control.. the dr told me it would last a year but wasn’t sure because it was still so new and I would be more than happy to inform him it lasted until a year or so ago..! It was amazing and I’d like to thank the doctor and Claremont for that decade of relative peace.. yours eternally grateful. L.E.Johnson..
William Norman
William Norman: From the moment i arrived at the hospital the service was second to non the staff were kind curious and profetional.I was in for a spinal procedure with Mr lee breakwell a man who is a legend in his field and now i know why he was so nice and cairing he explained every step the procidure went flawlessley even though my situation may have been a little tricky. he has genuinely changed my life for the better. And i dont have the words to thank him enough. Also the anesthetist whos name evades me was a great guy kept me calm and re assured and also pain free and i cant remember a thing as it should beThe nursing and catering staff were exemplary they made me feel welcome happy well fed and also safe a special shout out to Pam who went above and beyond the call of duty.I would personally like to thank everyone at clairmont for a great and sucsessfull stay and i will never look anywere els for treatment
Evelyn
Evelyn: Booked the soonest appointment for my heart and cancelled one with thornbury.. only to be told a week later it was being cancelled. Now re-booking with Thornbury, but I have to wait even later to be seen due to this unconvince. Poor and they don't care. :)
Michael Allen
Michael Allen: I cannot thank the whole hospital team for the care and compassion shown to my mum who went in for an operation yesterday , well done all .
