Sheffield Canoe Club: what do users think?

Richard Shepherdson: A great club, with a very welcoming atmosphere. Experienced paddlers spend time with you no matter what your level. Teaching the basics, and then encouraging you to push yourself, but never to go beyond what you are happy with. With tuition given at both the river and the pool as well as longer day trips out to other locations and events, there is something for everyone. With all equipment and tuition included in the paltry cost, it’s a no brainer. Definitely 5 star.

Emily Bush: Absolutely love being a part of Sheffield Canoe Club. They are a great group of people who support you whether you are a beginner or an advanced paddler. They have pool, river sessions and trips to go on too! It really recommend them as a club to join in Sheffield.

Joanne Duke: A fantastic club to be associated with. Suitable for all ages and we try to accommodate everyone who visits. Very friendly bunch of people, whether you visit the River at Oughtibridge on a Sunday morning or Hillsborough leisure Centre on a Friday evening. 😊

Stuart Elliott: Really nice bunch of people. Fun for all the family coached by experienced instructors, all kit provided very reasonably priced. Come and have a go.

matthew lane: Friendly club running sessions on a white water section of the River Don and pool sessions at Hillsborough. Leisure Centre.

Mat O'Connell: Lovely group of folk. Very supportive and helpful, experienced crew. Both sessions are well worth a go.

Peak Underbank Residential & Activity Centre, Sheffield: what do users think?

Katie Haxby: James, Nathan, Megan, Aiden and Morgan were amazing for our school group. Our coach was over three hours late and James and his team stayed and kept the children entertained and had great games good to go. James drove one of our staff to pick up some food for our group too. The activities were fantastic and the children learned so much. Thank you to the whole team!

jumbo lox: Love this place , perfect for walking, fishing, and kayaks, the centre is so helpful and have loads of activities available.

Alignsports Holistic: The girls had a fantastic week at the holiday club and we all thoroughly enjoyed the sup lesson, the staff are so friendly and helpful, we will definitely be returning.

William Veats: Great place to experience outdoor activities with highly motivated, experienced staff in a very safe location.

Nick: My 2 boys had parties here and had fantastic times. One did kayaking with Nathan (loved it, learning skills, playing games and even got to jump into the reservoir at the end). My second did bushcraft with Nathan and Tom. The weather was a wet and miserable day but they had an awesome time learning how to start fires, scavenging for resources and they were happy the whole time. Would recommend and will probably use them again next year for a new activity.

Julie Doubleday: We had a fabulous morning kayaking at Underbank today with our instructor Will. Both the kids (11 and 8) and the adults loved it. We played a fun game of tag, paddled the length of the reservoir and our eldest son enjoyed a few swims as well! We will be back soon!

Lee Green: James, In conclusion to the canoeing event that you provided for our Scout group on Saturday 11th I would like to give to following feedback. Communication. Thorough out this whole event has been excellent, quick responses from all your team weather that be admin, finance, and your team at Underbank. When organising such events from our perspective as volunteers communication is critical. As volunteers we sometimes don’t have the time, we would like to spend organising such events so the fact everything was quick and easy all the better. Facilities. Were spot on, we could not have asked for more, everything that we needed you had. It was nice after the event that the Scouts had the opportunity to get changed and dried off (which is not always the case at some events) was a big bonus and the tuck shop also went down a treat, I do think our Scouts bought out the whole shop. The event itself. Was an all-round success, we have had nothing but praise and thank you from our Scouts. A big thank you to Nathan and Tom for showing our Scouts all the ins and outs of canoeing. From the feed back we have had form the Scouts I think they enjoyed the kayaking more than the canoeing, but I think this was more down to the wind as they all seemed to struggle with me included. They also really enjoyed the capsize drills and trying out the different methods and different types of canoes. Scouts and water always go down well. A couple of negatives from some of the younger Scouts was that a full day was a little to long for them, but I think that was just the age of them. Speaking with Tom after the event he mentioned that we might be able to get British Canoeing “Start Award and Discover Award” certificates is this something that you can look into for us as it would be a great way to reward our Scouts. Finally with agreement with Nathan and Tom all but two of our Scouts have managed to achieve level 1 and 2 paddle sports badges. So again, a big thank you to the two of them. So, on behalf of 229th Greenhill Methodist Scouts, thank you. Regards, Lee

Andrew Woodcock: We booked in for the canoeing today as a family of four. James the instructor was excellent, took us around the lake at a nice pace for us as learners and we played a few games between the two canoes that we had (two people share a canoe). We arrived early just to make sure we could get there on time and James was very accommodating. Suggest taking a spare pair of clothes and towels for afterwards. Our youngest jumped in at the end and we are loved it!

fred Levitt: Wow what a lovely place to visit for a few hours

Stunning area for walking. Lovely pub a short walk away. Finally the owners are really lovely, friendly, helpful people. Thankyou Debbie, we had a lovely time

D Nuttall: Friendly centre, fantastic access into the beautiful Peak district, lovely historic farmhouse accommodation highly recommend for all groups.

Tom Leighton: Went here for a stag, and was perfect. Plenty of sleeping space (sleeps approx 30) in a number of rooms with generally 6/8 bunks per room. Good sized dining room and a bar area for chilling if needed. Table tennis, darts and table football in a games room. Plenty of fridges. The kitchen is compact for the number of guests, but perfectly adequate with a large gas hob and oven for cooking on. Lovely owners, and very enjoyable activities organised and run by the owners. We did weaseling which was very enjoyable (and only a 5 mins drive away), and the obstacle course which was on the site! Thinking of coming again next year!

Alex Smith: Really nice people who go above and beyond to make sure you have a great time. Seem very comfortable with hosting a large stag.

John-Paul McPartlin: Amazing venue for a large group, lots of space, great facilities, amazing owners, and a fantastic location both for the outdoors and not far from Sheffield itself.

James Corrigan: Set in the breathtaking scenery of the Peaks, Parson House is a lovely place to stay. Owners are two of the friendliest people you are likely to meet.

Howl Bushcraft-Greno Woods: what do users think?
Felipe Lobos: Terrible experience
Ben: Can’t recommend these guys enough, one of my main worries was food, what a mistake that turned out to be! You will be fed like a king on these courses, the quantity but also variety of food that Jamie (main dude) can cook on a fire is mind blowing! We literally had a chocolate cake (in a pot, in a bigger pot with water, hanging over the fire) for dessert.Food aside, really friendly bunch and you leaned all sorts re: Bushcraft, as you would expect.I have been on the 3 day Bushcraft course in the woods near Sheffield, and also the 5 day wild camping and canoe expedition in Scotland, I loved both and want more!
Kevin Ebbs: Just visit and do it - you won't regret it. Professional, knowledgeable, friendly.
Adam Tkacz: Great weekend. Jamie is knowledgeable, patient and shares his expertise in a really positive manner. Highly recommended.
rod Whiting: Just enjoyed a brilliant weekend on the Lightfoot Air Hunter Course. I learned so much without feeling I was 'under instruction'. This was a well thought out course, delivered in a laid back but thoroughly professional manner by Jamie and Steve. Thoroughly recommended.
Joanne Gordon: Great course. Lots to try at home. JD was very knowledgeable about the subject and wild plants.
Sharon Scott: absolutely brilliant fantastic course we'll worth the money great experience
perry shaw: Well organized, as in-depth as you want, as enthusiastic as the clients are. Thoroughly enjoyable experience
Ryan 81: Amazing company
Tobias Mitchell: Jamie and Max are welcoming, knowledgeable and excellent campfire chefs who expertly introduce you to their woodland home and open your eyes to everything it has to offer.
Jamie Dakota: Join us on a course and enjoy nature up close
Gary Edwards: Excellent day with Jamie doing business bushcraft , would recommend
Sally Leeming: Bought a night in the woods for my son and his dad for Christmas. They absolutely loved every minute of it. My 10 year old can’t stop talking about it. They came home filthy but so excited to tell me all they had learned and how much fun they had. Memories that will last a lifetime. Huge thank you Jamie.

Beauchief Golf Club: what do users think?
Chrissy Witney: I attended a function here and everything was fine. The buffet was nice and the staff friendly and helpful.
George Gibson: Course in great condition considering the lateness of the year. Clubhouse staff very welcoming and good menu choice.
JOHN HALLETT: Great course
Peshang Abubakr: The best and the best barber shop
Martyn Cheetham: Nice golf course nice staff. Freindly atmosphere.
Alex Taylor: If I could give 0 stars i would. Charging £24 with 6 winter greens and water logged fairways is a disgrace. We noticed the flag at half mast. We assume some one had died from a heart attack when you told them it was £24.I know it’s off season golf but it feels like the course has been abandoned and you can’t be charging full price when Birley is 10 times better condition and only £10
Craig whittaker: Very muddy and lots of temp greens this time of year but still very playable and enjoyable
David Wetherall: Not much time to look around, was on a course held here
Steven Chapman: The golf club, is, old and needs a refresh, but the staff Are very friendly and welcoming so top marks for that, im not a golfer so can't comment on the coarse, but pop in for a Coffee and a chat the staff Are lovely 👍
John Green Green: Been a member for 30 years a great course in summer not too good in winter. A little gem. Play it in the summer it's great test of golf.
Richard Walker: Very pretentious everyone seems to think they are entitled at this course and if you think your going to get round in under 4 hours think again! There is numerous amounts of 4 balls that are over 80 and like to make the most of every minute on the course. Normally we can get round most in 3 hours max but we abandoned the course on the 14th hole after 4hours and 30 mins. Course is lovely just ashame about the members and people running the tee times
Tom Cantwell: They should rename it the "Royal" Beauchief due to its regal beauty. Best municipal course in Sheffield with breathtaking views, tricky par 3s and a lovely water hole.
Keith Fletcher: Loved it
Kamika Peart-Manning: Some people leave their dogs unattended, straying on the path while playing golf. That is totally unacceptable. You can't put people lives at risk like that for your enjoyment. That's selfish!
Danielle Brough: Nice course
Lewis Bower: Fantastic municipal. The greens could have some work but for the price you pay you can not argue at all.
Andrew Anderson: Just using venue for meeting for and drink available.
Gerard Murphy: Lovely place for golf and conversation.
Gary Wetherill: Good for a municipal
DEAN BUTLER: Excellent course, very well maintained with some lovely and interesting holes.
Roger Hart: Had evening meal by arrangement for a partyLarge portion, mediocre food. Pathways ,& steps. dangerous at night, one member of party fell.

Rapid Horizons - Outdoor Adventure: what do users think?
Jana Titova: Great fun, personalised approach, friendly team and exciting experience. John did great job introducing us to kayaking basics whilst ensuring we had good time in a safe environment. My friend who did it for the first time ever and isn't particularly good swimmer also enjoyed herself. Having some previous experience, I found the advices and explanations of verious techniques super helpful, so got quite a lot out of the session.
Samantha Hodge: Brilliant experience. Coach collected us and took us to the starting point. All the equipment was provided. We had 2 instructors Sam and Emily who were really helpful and friendly. I was a little nervous as had never done this before, but they were really informative and encouraging. They also made it fun and challenging. Would highly recommended this company.
Richmal Wigglesworth-Anderson: Had a great experience kayaking with Sam and Gary, really helpful instruction and really fun to go down the river with them
Kirsty Harkness: Really enjoyed white water rafting on the RiverLots of fun and well organised
jack lesueur: I did a white water safety course with Jon on the Dee, he asked what our goals for the course was and he definitely went above and beyond to hep me achieve them and everyone else's on the course. the course was really fun and engaging couldn't recommend rapid horizons more.
Ben Nicholls: What a great experience. Thanks to the whole team for a great morning of fun.
Laurie Coldwell: My partner booked us onto kayaking down the rapids with these guys as a birthday treat for me. Great tuition and experience, friendly guys who went the extra mile to make a great morning.
David Hodson: Thank you Jon for a great time canoeing on Cromford canal. What a lovely location to be in. Although it rained throughout we were well equipped for the downpours and it all added to the experience. As possibly two of your more senior customers you made us relaxed and comfortable. We would highly recommend this activity to all ages and hope to be back with our wider family to try the range of activities you have on offer. We were pleased to identify a diving bird that we'd not seen before as a 'Little Grebe' or sometimes referred to as a 'Dabchick'. Thanks again David and Sally.
David de Caires Watson: Had an amazing time canoeing today. John was a brilliant instructor. Very friendly and professional. All the gear was good quality and we'll maintained. John really loves what he does and was even cleaning up rubbish from the river as he went.
Robbie Droach: Highly recommend this place, my partner and myself had Rick as instructor who really took his time to teach us all the techniques and gave us some fun challenges throughout the way. Rick also had great knowledge of the area and gave us some other recommendations of what to do whilst in the Peak District. Will 100% return soon, thanks Rapid Horizons team!
Sarah Hunter: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,ResponsivenessBrilliant afternoon kayaking down the river to Matlock Baths yesterday with my family. Kids loved it and I'm sure it's an experience they won't forget. 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Ahmed Gele: We had an amazing experience kayaking today!A great team at Rapid Horizon! Rick was our fantastic guide, who was a pleasure to be around; definitely made us feel at ease as first time kayakers.I would highly recommend visiting rapid horizons! Will definitely be visiting again in the future.
Lorna Roden: John and the team created the perfect morning activity as part of our hen do. It was relaxed and informal whilst being well organised. The canoeing was far more intrepid that we've done before and definitely was one of the best activities to do for a hen do! Even a light drizzle fo rain didn't deter our enjoyment!
Sam Bates: Amazing experience rafting on the White Water Course at Nottingham with Rapid Horizons. So much fun, very professional throughout and will definitely be going again!
Jonathan Leeding: Fantastic afternoon kayaking on the river Derwent. Our guide was great, providing a fun and safe paddle down the river. I would highly recommend. Nice touch that they were happy to take lots of pictures and share FOC after the paddle. They were incredibly accommodating in allowing us to move the date of our activity due to COVID. I would highly recommend.
Germaine Mcmichael: Just got back from the kayaking with rapid horizons ... myself and our team (14 in total) went and it was the best team day out .... Alex and John where absolutely fantastic.... i totally recommend the 5pm slot, it was so beautiful, our instructors where absolutely brilliant ... we will 100% be going back ... it took us a 4 hour round trip but so so worth it ... it is stunning there ... thankyou so much guys for making our team day one to really remember....Team Veggie Republic 💚
Aman: Website was terrible... location on the map was some random guys house...
Mike Brooke: What a wonderful experience this was, run by friendly and professional guides who made sure we felt safe the entire time.We decided to book a mornings Kayaking with Rapid Horizons and our trust paid off. The children and I spent two hours in the river enjoying the scenery, small rapids and learning new skills.I'd recommend this to anyone with children aged 7 and over or even stag and hen parties. It's an event for just about anyone and when we return to the Peak District we will be booking with Rapid Horizons again.
Russell Hunt: We took our children ages 8 and 11 on a wonderful canoe trip down the river Derwent with Rapid Horizons. The guide was patient, instructive and very personable. The children both agreed it was their favourite part of our 3-day trip to the Peak District. The kit had been disinfected for Covid and the instructors were attentive to the Covid requirements.
John Beattie: I recently went rafting in a group of 13 as part of a stag weekend. Excellent experience and all of us had a great time. The instructors were fun, enthusiastic and helped us get the most out of the time on the water. Everything ran to clockwork and would strongly recommend to others. Thanks guys
craig brumby: Had a fab time, myself and my daughter, rafting down the picturesque river Derwent in Derbyshire. Rick our experienced guide was very knowledgeable and fun to be on the water with but also kept the whole group very safe and assured. We had a lovely mixed group but we all had a lot of fun together. I/ we would recommend Rick & Rapid Horizons to one and all and I myself will returning for some kayaking tuition in the very near future.A big thank you to Rick & Rapid Horizons for a great rafting experience,Best wishes, Craig & Abi.
