Cavells Café Bar: what do users think?

Randy Hawley: The food is great! However, it does get a bit crowded since it is in the middle of town! It is possibly best to book a table if you are in a group of 3 or more! Get your table and enjoy the good food!

Lou Kellock: Excellent meals, excellent service from staff with a smile, polite staff too, excellent condition of cafe, warm and great atmosphere.Would recommend to others and will visit again

smootheditz: Called in here for lunch today. Lovely bar, staff very friendly and nothing too much trouble. Food was amazing.

Dawn Cullen: Perfect light lunch. Great service and staff. And the veg lasagne was delicious

Just Jaye: Nice food, reasonable prices. Clean and tidy inside. Various menu options depending on the time of day.

Gui Batista: really very good, stay 1 week in town and went there 3 times, good variety of beer and wonderful snacks

Ceri De'Ath: I work in the community and often bring my customers here for lunch as I can always rely on good service and great food at a reasonable price. Staff are always attentive and friendly, despite it being a city centre pub that can get quite busy. Highly recommend!

derek milne: Great pub in the centre of Sheffield, close to the City Hall. Had food and drinks before going to concert. Recommend them steak pie. Thumbs up to all the staff

Aimee Hindle: Went for a group booking, very accommodating, had food from both menus normal & christmas and was really nice. Good portion size.

Jason Francis: Plenty of different beers available and the staff seemed nice too. Overall a good pub
K. Peake: This was a lovely pub to go drinking at, with a vintage design as the name suggests added to by the chandeliers and wall decorations! The counter is beautifully presented, the staff are friendly and the upstairs seating area is more than sufficient. I had a refreshing bottle of Sol, sitting comfortably at a clean table!
Sian Hopkins-Smith: Popular Greene king pub in good location . Fish n chips was lovely
Ian Barrett: Great pub in the City centre. Good selection of beers and lagers. Nice food , though I could have done with more chillies on my Nacho.😋😋
Sharron Firth: A proper pub 5☆
Philip Lamb: Disappointed to find that they now only have 4 handpumps and only 3 in use, all with Green King beers. It's unlikely will that we go there again unless we want to eat.
Richard Bishop: Good pub, limited bar staff on day I attended which wasn't great.
Elky ,: 2 pints peroni buy one get one free ..cheapest quality brew all a sheff ...ace
Stephen Thomas: My favourite local pub.
Minimal Smith: When I was 17 and looked 25, I had a pint in the pub with my father (not here, I assure you) and thought woah hold back there good sir, how can anybody enjoy such a beverage. For many, their first experience with beer may not be enjoyable due to its bitter taste, but as they try different types of beers, they may find themselves starting to appreciate the complex flavour and aromas that it can offer. You know what, I don’t know where I was going with that. The venue, hub or social club if you’re from the south, if you will, was clean welcoming and certainly a treat to the senses. I was thrilled to see vinegar stocked in each of the boxes and found table five to be particularly enjoyable. The staff are attentive and enjoyed mild interaction, even baring with my friend whom claimed to work here in years gone by. He kept mentioning a husky, who judging by the staffs discontent had passed on to pastures new. Despite being incomprehensible yet the staff seemed to humour him. Great place you’ve got here.
Erin Lachlan: Great vibes from this pub, quick service from staff even though busy on a Saturday night! Didn’t eat but drinks were nice and not too expensive!
Abby-leigh S: Always amazing service from the staff here ☺️ food was spectacular as well! I ordered the vegetarian nut roast dinner and it was the best roast I've eaten in a long time - was fresh, crisp, filling, but healthy! The halloumi starter was unique but the crispiest bites I've ever eaten!Honestly superb! Will be visiting on a regular basis 😊
Liam Jones: Great pub! Friendly and always a good place for locals
Daphne D: It’s a really lovely pub. It’s quiet and cozy. Me and my friends are having a great time chatting and eating. We ordered some drinks which are nice, but the food is not great. I won’t recommend fish and chips. Maybe because I haven’t had it for a long time and I really wanted it, and it wasn’t as good as I thought? I like chicken wings though! I hope they can serve food faster in the future. We waited for quite a long time…
James Watson: Just a nice little friendly pub in Sheffield
Julia Allan: Would recommend the karaage chicken. Quick service. But not with a smile
Lesha Bright: Booked an area for my boyfs suprise bday. The service was amazing, the food was great and the venue was perfect. All our party were commenting on how fab the service was and how friendly everyone was! We were also adding more meals to our order, having already given a preorder, and they were so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Great stuff!
Graeme Panting: Smart city centre bar. Good atmosphere and plenty of choice with regards to beers and lagers. Not many proper pubs left in this country which offer a comfortable environment without resorting to to food. Will definitely be back.
Terri McDermott: The food was fantastic and delicious defo come again.
Anne Gartside: Comfy chairs

Hopper; Coffee House, Bar & Kitchen: what do users think?

David Rees: Without a doubt my new favorite coffee shop in Sheffield! My party of 6 ordered various dishes from their brunch and lunch menu and they were all superb, beautifully prepared food with real flavour. The pancakes and the New Yorker sandwich were particular highlights. Their cakes were fantastic too - the lemon polenta cake alone is worth a trip. Very friendly staff, great atmosphere. Will be going again as soon as possible!

S H: Great place, tasty food and lovely staff. I definitely recommend the wild mushrooms on toast, they are a delight!

Charlotte: Really good coffee! Food is delicious but some things quite pricey

David Shepherd: Lovely summer event for tea/supper out. Welcome and service at Hopper warm and friendly as usual. Always look forward to eating here. Summer evening menu. Large sharing platter and spicy wedges with harissa mayo. Like every meal we have had here it was first class. Nicely prepared and presented. Great flavours! The harissa mayo has a surprising kick to it, goes well with the wedges.

Jennifer M: Excellent varied menu. Our lunch was delicious followed by a very good cup of coffee. Friendly and cheerful folks serving, made for a relaxed, friendly, atmosphere.
Jenny Coe: Enjoyed a coffee in here, offered plant based milk and had a lovely cappuccinoService: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Ezra Hill: Love this place. Staff are super friendly and the food and coffee are just too good.

The vibe is still nice. Hopefully it will pick up once the summer menu comes back aroundFood: 2/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Steve Dalton: Lovely little eatery. Food was of good quality, although there was nothing ground breaking about the menu. Be prepared to wait to be seated.Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Kevin Smith: Only been there for cake and coffee so far but both are fantastic as are the friendly, welcoming staff! thumbs up Nice atmosphere and great music a bonus! 😀
Sara C: Went there for the 1st time and sadly due to the rude staff don't think I will visit again. I had a coffee which was so so and the ambiance was nothing special. A staff member seemed quite keen for us to go, took our plates literally after my friends last bite and then was like I will get the bill without asking. I appreciate that you may want people out if it is busy or close to closing, both of which it was not.
Lydia Anderson: Wonderful as always! Lovely food lovely peopleFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

calmer2016: We visited the Bessemer on a Friday afternoon. Very comfortable seating and spacious. The staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the food I ordered, BBQ burger and chips were not as good as I hoped it would be. That was a let down. But overall we enjoyed our visit. Thank you

Stewart: Awful drinks, the worst pint of moonshine I've ever tasted.
steven oxley: Great pub with great music
Anthony Shah: Looked a decent pub. Busy as you would expect, few drinks, bought a pint thought go outside have a cigarette, doorman says you can't take your drink outside put it there! Pointed to a shelf. Fair enough I thought. Had my cigarette came back in just as the glass collector poured my drink in to a bucket! Said that's my pint to be told you can't leave it there, I said the doorman said to leave it there , his answer take it up with the doorman... so really don't buy a drink in there and don't listen to the doorman. Will definitely not be going back there...

Mira Toncar: It's absolutely great bar, great atmosphere with amazing staff and great beers, gin, cocktails. Highly recommended! Really nice bar. Just been here again and agan and not want give bad review but today is very bad here, no understand why people take dog inside pub(((( I like dog, especially with garlic souce))) but when I want enjoy nice drink in great bar or pub and smelly dog always stay in my way when I want order drink or go to toilet is very terrible!!! Of course dog owner don't think about other customers in pub((((( typically. Take dog for walk in pub, what a idiots. Yes, sad today about this but drink and staff still great, hope I can come here again without smelly dog. And now another wrong think, why we accept people go in with your own food, smelly kebab, etc(((((( disgusting, really. I change my mind and now can say, sadly, not recommended this pub(((((( definitely I know I don't have answer from you but really we are keeping your business down(((((Come here again after this bad experience, from March 2023 and seems to be better and better. Bar stuff smile and very friendly, some new beers ( Pravha) what is great taste, so, I can say now....I recommended this little pub. Especially if work this pretty blonde girl, so friendly and very professional.
Dominic Ridler: Great pub. Lots of good beers on tab and a cosy atmosphere. A great pub for before a match at Bramall Lane, too.
Maria Bee Art: Love this place for cocktails, also can take your own takeaway in! X
Charlie Oxley: Hugely underrated bar on Ecclesall, brilliant choice of beers, lagers and gins. As a bonus, and in case you arent convinced yet, the arctic monkeys left signature on the wall.
matthew brierley: Fantastic experience, superb drinks range, excellent cocktail range, only wish I had more time to stay and enjoy a wonderful relaxing atmosphere
Thomas Blower: Very friendly, welcoming atmosphere with a fun open mic - would highly recommend!
Rebecca Stewart: Always good vibes
Aaron Harris: Weird cliquey place… sort your staff out too not allowed to finish your drink either
Mark Staniforth: Congenial
Ines dCueto: Nice place to have a drink! The only thing is that they only serve beer but if you are a beer lover, then this is the best place for you!
Ivan Marsden: Great bar! Nuff said.
Daniel Stahl: Portland House has the right kind of vibe for a more crafty brew or gin outing. It is one of my first recommends whenever looking to grab a beer over some good conversation. Especially good for Beavertown Brewery fans.
Richard “riktking” Mapley: A lovely pint of neck oil sat in the sunshine outside.
Stuart Robertson: Friendly bar staff, quick service, decent beer range
mark arnall: Great atmosphere and staff with wide range of drinks
AJ: One of my favourite bars in the area. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Lots of high seating which I prefer in bars.
Iane Andrade: Bom.
Dragos Ionescu: Really good beer selection
Blend CIC: This place is great! The service Molly and Dave provide and the drinks range is brilliant.
Christopher Dixon: Awful atmosphere, beer choice isn't great and the owner isn't a nice person. Other places on Eccalsall Road are far better than this. Don't waste your money here.

frederick ramsden: Great place to go to watch the match. Excellent food and great deals. Love the new lunch menu, I had the steak and cheese ciabatta and it was cooked just right and tasted great. Great value for money on both food and drink. Staff always serve with a smile 😃 can't wait to be back!
David Kinlin: I am a regular here and it is by far the best pub on crookes! The staff are always helpful and treat me like part of the family. Always a smile when I come in and a pint to be had. Emily and Katie are especially excellent, always there to help with excellent advice and great drinks to recommend. Can’t get enough of the place! Can’t wait to come back and see everyone. The Thursday quiz is especially great with Dan or Emily at the helm! Great job guys!
Abena Bonsu: Disgusting rude mannered middle aged staff member she is. Dark haired and skinny. Only one bartender has ruined the ball experience as a semi regular I was disgusted when I was spoken to in a very rude abrupt passive aggressive manner. I simply asked her if what is inside a zombie and if she can make my zombie pitcher a bit stronger as everytime I've had a cocktail here it's tasted like juice. Before she made the drink she waffled on very aggressively and angrily about UK measures which is fair enough but her undertone and anger behind it wasn't necessary. She tutted her teeth and walked off in a tempered strop. She then came back and with the wrong pitcher/ drink. I did doubt the colour of the drink. I tasted it and it was a Pina colada so I confronted another bar staff about it and he kindly made me the right one. Her attitude was still stinking when I came back and didn't even apologize. She is rude and deserves a personality assessment as well as how to handle customer service in the correct manner. Being stressed isn't an excuse or choose a job you enjoy rather than being miserable in a job you hate and passing your anger onto customers isn't fair. I will never ever visit this pub again. You have lost a customer.
Tom Newman: Been couple of times, always people in but plenty of space too. Good selection, fair prices. Dog friendly
Michelle Smyth: Amazing food highly recommendstaff extremely helpfulClean and great atmosphere
Theresa Hanson: Staff & customers are very friendly, foods brilliant
James Szemeti: Not a place for a quiet pint and chat with mates, too noisy. Not the cheapest eithet
Shaun Connelly: Lovely pub, great service and food 😁👍
Louise -: Banging pub, do not skip this place if you’re a student! Good size beer garden and good atmosphere inside. Staff are great and food is hearty. Dog friendly too
Hannah Middleton: Nice little pub! Nice beer garden out the back! Good pub grub. It's a really well presented pub, nicely decorated, board games, plenty of big tvs if you want to watch sports, little doggy station! Cute!
Russell Jubb: The food is bloody lovely, always a warm welcome at the ball. Pleasant staff. If your looking for a good night out I would definitely recommend giving the ball a try!!!
Jake Sampson: We visited for the Motown night and it was amazing! Great live entertainment and a great atmosphere! The staff were very quick with service and were very polite and helpful sorting us a table and recommending drinks and food. The small plates were delicious too! Can’t wait to come back for the next live event!
Anna Wilson: Amazing pub, amazing staff, fast becoming my local. Best pub in crookes with great events and always something to do
Janet Richardson: Great selection of real ales

William Harrison: Call in at least twice a month with my wife when Sheffield United are at home. Plenty of staff on, good service and plenty of good beers to chose from. Good value pub food too. Recommend.
Geoff Rhodes: Nice pub with some real ales
Luke Green: A bit pricey but a good atmosphere
Shaun: Food is some of the best pub food in Sheffield, with a few unique twists. Went here about 5 years ago and the food was sh*t. When here on the corronation, and wasn't expecting much ..... but when it arrived it was well cooked big portions for the price, interesting sides . They had chopped large sausage instead of chips....everything was nice.....the wings where had alto of batter but it was crispy and well seasoned .....there's alot of bad pubs in Sheffield....this definitely isn't one
David Burkhardt: Lovely traditional city centre pub - a traditionally built characterful brick built building in a sea of concrete! Good selection of well kept real ales at average city prices. Not eaten there but good varied menu available. Staff friendly and helpful, I had a problem with a drunkard outside on the street and the owner/manager came straight out to help. Attractive outdoor area. Clean & fresh toilets. Would recommend.
Richard Parker: Great pub call for a pint or 2 every weekend
Gary Storey: Ale selection is improving....could be a 4 if same on next visit
Warren C: Sneaked in, Preston Away fan. Decent ales, and those bun/ pasty things they do are absolutely delicious.
Andrew Miles: Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and the biggest chicken burger I've seen in my life. Highly recommended 👌
Alicia Kirkland: Came here for a meal on Saturday the staff were all friendly and super helpful i am lactose intolerant and they helped me make sure there would be no dairy in my food i had fish and chips and it was super tasty would definitely come back
Juan Thornes: Good pub
Ricky Stephenson: Wicked food and a great selection of ice cold beer.
raymond may: Nice pint and no loud music so our lot was able to talk and here one another
Stephen Mullen: Good Pint, good stake and ale pie. Wish they still did rabbit pie, that was the bomb
Kelly Vali: Although it was a Friday evening that we were there, it was fairly quiet and we managed to get our drinks order in quickly and find a seat. Staff were friendly and facilities clean
Lisa Martin: Whats happened to the nice food here ? As a frequent visitor here I came with 3 friends for food tonight .The food was microwaved rubbish . I ordered the ‘ foot long ‘ sausage , chips and curry sauce . I got 7 chips a very chewy and dry ( not a foot long ) sausage and cold mushy peas which i sent back .I had to go to the bar again to ask where my onion rings were as they had been forgotten .My friends had frozen yorkshire puddings and chewy chicken 🤢. Certainly wont be eating here again . The bar staff are usually very polite but tonight they had a very ‘ Cant be bothered ‘ attitude. No sorry about your cold peas or sorry about your missed items . They never asked how the meal was either when they took the 1/2 full plates away. The pub was also very cold tonight .
Peter Shearman: Not bad prices for food & drink in a pub in the city. Staff hard working. Would visit again.
Mike Douglas: Fantastic real ale pub
Jane Newton: Good atmosphere friendly bar staff great service good selection on food.
Chris Stuart: Pleasantly cheerful with helpful & smiles all around... the staff are definitely great at customer service!
susan cox: Great food, good prices, friendly staff. Will definitely go there again. Love the sign outside that says, unattended children will be given espresso coffees and a free ferret! 😂

Will: I nipped here for a family dinner recently having last visited over 10 years ago.. not much has changed but there are a good couple of Lagers on draught and the menu is simple but was tasty and more than adequate when it arrived. The sun was out but it was pretty windy so as much as the outdoor terrace looked inviting I quickly retreated inside! A decent family pub if you want to nip for something to eat and not spend much. Would visit again if it was part of an invitation from friends but probably wouldn’t be my first choice of S10 pubs.
Megan Malcolmson: We came here after a trip to the Peak District, it was rather busy however managed to get a table and got told the food would be 40 mins - 1hour wait. We thought this was fine as it was bank holiday so understood some delays can happen. We had an autistic child and a 1 year told therefore after 1hour 20mins, we asked how long it would be, to them be told it’ll be 15 mins and offered us a free drink as an apology. We then got our food 1 hour and 50 mins after ordering, for it to come back either not cooked or too overly cooked. The fries with the burger meal, the kids meals and on its own were barely cooked - quite hard and the steak (ordered medium) came well done , very tough and was dry. Along with this the vegetarian burger meat patty was crumbling apart because it was burnt. We called a member of staff over who rudely advised we only had been waiting 20 mins over the expected time as a response, therefore we asked him to get the order ticket and he corrected himself. He kept apologising for the food, and advised he couldn’t re fund us and could only re cook the steak(nothing else as there was various other errors) - he did even say himseld he wouldn’t pay for what we had given him. we asked for a refund instead as we had had a pregnant lady, two unrested children with us - as one is Autistic, it isn’t easy to wait much longer. We felt the staff knew the issues around the meal, as we had paid £96 - the wait was unacceptable and the meal placed infront of us was appauling. On top of this, the lack of understanding for families and the rudeness displayed when questioning a customer on their wait time was certainly not good service. I would not waste your money coming here again

Roland Palmer-Jones: Seemed quiet on a Saturday afternoon in February. Very friendly - they changed the TV channel for us. Dog was welcome, plenty of water bowls. Food was very good. Only a few veggie options, but I really appreciated a good home made bean burger, so much better than the pretend meat that many places offer these days. The chef was genuinely interested in whether we had enjoyed our meal, which is a good sign.Well kept beer - I had a nice pint of Landlord.Vegetarian options: Nicely cooked, tasty real food not pretend meatParking: Plenty
Steph Anderson: Food was good when I went at lunch time. However this evening it was very poor.Parking: Plenty of space
