Brook Place Apartments, Sheffield, United Kingdom: what do users think?
Jeremy Fry
Jeremy Fry: We spent 18 months living at Brook Place ahead of going travelling. We loved the place - the location is perfect, the apartments are well designed with a great contemporary feel and have good sized kitchens and bathrooms. As a new building the heat insulation is superb so we rarely needed the heating even in the depths of winter. Grainger is a highly professional company with a great team of staff who are always welcoming and friendly. Add in the roof terrace, gym, bike storage, concierge for parcel delivery and it’s probably hard to beat.
Response: Hi Jeremy, thank you so much for your positive review. We are glad you enjoyed your time at Brook Place and wish you all the best for the future, your kind comments have been shared with the team. Thank you from all at Brook Place, Sheffield,
Martin Lever
Martin Lever: Stayed here for 7 months 2020-21. Manager Mark and front of house staff were really helpful throughout. Thanks to them for excellent service and attention to detail. The apartments are well appointed, close to the city centre (walking 10mins) and 1 min from the action on Ecclesall Rd. My studio flat was warm in winter and my heating bills were very low during this period. Was sorry to leave Brook Place, enjoyed my time there and would highly recommend to anyone thinking of moving in.
Response: Hi Martin, thank you so much for your kind, positive and informative review, we hope that you are well, if you ever return to Sheffield, please feel free to pop in and catch up. Thank you from all the team @ Brook Place, Sheffield

Angélica Cabello: My husband and I moved to these apartments last year looking for a centric and spacious place. We didn’t find what we had on our mind, we found more than that! Brook place has given us a home, a warm place to come after a cold day. A place to start our family. A place where we found great friends that became family. Everyone in the administrative area has been lovely, very responsive, responsible and caring. Alejandro Escobar, our administrative agent in Brook Place, was the reason we decided to move here as he is very honest and great to help you find what you are looking for. Him and all the team have been always the best with us. I highly recommend this place to live!
Response: Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review Angelica. We will be pleased to pass this onto Mark, Alejandro, Mia, Emma and Bev, as they love nothing more than making sure our residents are happy in their homes. We hope to see you soon now we can enjoy our amenity spaces again, Kind regards Leanne
Someone
Someone: The level of service I have received from Emma at Brook place has been above and beyond! She stayed late to help us with our check in even though we arrived late at night and nothing has been too much trouble since. These are lovely flats with great on site facilities. The gym and communal work space is kept clean and has all new equipment. Due to Covid the team have done well to set up sanitation areas. All the team have been very friendly and welcoming which has made moving to a new city much easier. Emma thank you for everything you have done and always with a smile!
Response: Welcome to Brook Place! Thank you so much for your kind and positive review, we will ensure this is shared with Emma and the team! We hope you enjoy your stay at Brook Place :-)

Joseph Welch
Joseph Welch: The amenities, staff and buildings are really good. Staff in particular are excellent.Only issue I had in my time here is that it's a bit annoying that the communal spaces are closed early and all day on Sundays, basically makes them unusable for hosting and renders the large kitchen completely pointless.
Devika Bapat
Devika Bapat: This absolutely amazing place to stay. The staff is also very helpful. Very clean building and amazing common place

Ragnhild Yndestad: I moved here in September, and have only positive experiences. Beautiful facilities and the staff is so lovely. I have a certain phobia against bees, and when two came through my open window I could not get them out. I told the reception, and they were so nice and understanding and came and helped me, gently taking the bees back outside. I'd given more than five stars if I could:)
Vegangie ALS
Vegangie ALS: I'm in the application process at the moment for this place and the staff have been so helpful, respond quickly and are very understanding. Very easy to communicate with :)
Asmaa Saad
Asmaa Saad: We 've been living in Brook Place for almost a year now and we're loving it. The apartment is very cosy and the building is secure and tidy. We feel at home and happy here thanks to the wonderful efforts from everyone in the residential team.
Ines Klepic
Ines Klepic: So happy with our experience at Brook Place! My partner and I have been living here for almost a year now, and can confidently say that this has been the best place we’ve lived at! Beautiful facilities, always clean and well maintained. The terraces are one of the best things about this place, there are lovely lounges, tables and bean bags to relax and socialise, as well as table tenis, big outdoor chess board and football table! At the ground floor there are more common social areas which are very stylish, as well as a lovely clean gym! And ofcourse the staff - this place wouldn’t be what it is if it wasn’t for the always helpful staff who put so much effort into making it nice for their residents. Really could not recommend this place more!

Park Hill Flats: what do users think?
稲垣碩人
稲垣碩人: I went to Park Hill on Tuesday. I saw appearances and aisle of this building. It is changing. It is changing from old to new. Its appearance is colourful and beautiful. It’s being modernized. In addition to, if you go up to floor, you can see beautiful scenery of Sheffield. One of interesting things is graffiti. It says “I love you. Will U marry me?” It is romantic. However, it has bad things. One of them is openness. We can see inside of rooms because the windows of this building are very big. Residents can’t do things near the windows. Rooms isn’t big. Many British people have big body. Therefore, you may feel cramped. I don’t recommend this building for living. You should choose the room by thinking how comfort it is, not by how beautiful it is. However, you can go to CityCentre easily from this building. If you want to go CityCentre frequently, this building is good for you.
Eliot Collins
Eliot Collins: Previously a site of back to back houses, the current brutalist construction was completed in 1961 as affordable housing. There is an exhibition about it in Weston Park Museum. The council moved tenants into the flats near their neighbours from the houses there before to maintain the sense of community. Although it was listed as Grade II in 1998, many people have low opinions of the buildings due to their state of apparent disrepair and neglect. The new renovations by Urban Splash are set to be finished in 2022. They stripped and rebuilt much of the building, cladding it in the iconic red, orange and yellow. There is commercial space on the ground floor and a new park near the railway station too.

Rich Deerdog
Rich Deerdog: Iconic flats, mostly now refurbished. You may recognise them from various films over the years.Looming presence over the city. Not shy. Modern classic.

Abdulrahman Almuhaidib
Abdulrahman Almuhaidib: On the 13th of August 2019, I went there with my class and we went to the top floor to enjoy the view of the entire city of Sheffield. The compound is famous for being so big and in one of the highest areas in the city. There are more than 1000 houses other than offices.Park Hill has a very nice view of the entire city. The place seems luxurious one. I liked the glass lift.On the other hand, I didn't like the idea of putting the corridor on the view. People at their offices and houses would like to see the view from wherever they are. Why do they have to get out of their houses to enjoy the view?Personally, I think it's neither worth visiting nor a nice place to live in. I really don't suggest coming if you are afraid of heights, someone had an unpleasant time :)
Nomura Mitsuki
Nomura Mitsuki: I went to Park Hill with my classmates and my teachers. Park Hill is famous because it has history and is colorful and beautiful. When we went to it, we went up and looked landscape which can be seen from it. We took a lot of photos.Good thing is very beautiful about it. It is big and colorful. So many people live in it. Many years ago, " I like you, will U marry me? " was written here. It is near the Sheffield station. So it is easy for people who live in it to go to somewhere. There are many bugs, for example, bee, mosquito and so on. I don't like them. So if I have lived in it, I would clear it of them.It is a great place in Sheffield, therefore, I recommend people to live in it and it is suitable for person who likes height, landscape and history and doesn't mind that there are many bugs.

Chapel House Apartments: what do users think?
Jodie
Jodie: DON'T LIVE HERE. There's always something wrong with the building and sometimes these things happen more than once so it seems like nobody really fixes the issue. For example, when it rains heavily it leaks through the washroom ceiling and also down the corridor outside people's flats (This has happened a few times). Dodgy front door to the building, laundry facilities don't work time and time again, issues like the leaking rain water/corridor flooding are reported and then they close the issue when nothing has actually been done (meaning issues can happen again). Even if it's urgent you'll probably have to wait a while.- Changing owners of the building means you will have no idea who to contact about specific things and you'll have to ring/email around to try and find out who deals with what (sometimes you don't get an answer).

The Gateway - Apartments for Rent in Sheffield: what do users think?
A B
A B: Flats were okay inside, high ceilings which were attractive. The neighborhood is DODGY, you can hear smackheads screaming at each other all night. Right opposite the massive roundabout so always noisy from sirens, car horns and general traffic. Rent was raised three times in one year, in the middle of COVID, while a significant amount of people were on furlough; due to the various issues affecting the building (plumbing, electrical issues, damp), some rent prices have come down because they are desperate for tenants, but don't be sucked in - they will go up again any time they feel they can get away with it. Left after two years on principle. Overall, seriously not worth the hassle. Just ask one of the dozen property managers who have left over the last few years alone due to the stress and terrible management.
John Floren
John Floren: Easy to get to for drop off & pick up, just off main roundabout. Parking limited
Michal Slominski
Michal Slominski: Nice and clean :)
Danny Roberts
Danny Roberts: My personal experience so far (6 months) have been very pleasant, reading the other reviews its the opposite of what i've experienced so far. One thing to note is that its often difficult to brand a company a bad name when it could well be an employee at the time in post. The current staff Gina and co (including the cleaners) have all been extremely friendly and helpful in all issues. My heater in the living room packed in and they had someone out to fix within a few days. Sounds like some terrible past employees rather than a bad business. Everything I've needed has been met swiftly and efficiently. The apartments themselves are finished to a really high quality and although on the upper end of the market price wise, provide enough value to justify. The roof terrace is a nice addition which I believe there may be some plans to run events in the summer.
Karl Finch
Karl Finch: My partner and I have recently relocated having lived in The Gateway Sheffield for 2 years and we would highly recommend them to anybody. They have excellent, furbished flats with a modern design to them. We especially liked the cleanliness feel they offer and are reasonably priced. This was important as we moved here following university as we became working professionals. We found many others in the same position and hence had no disturbances throughout our time here.We did move from the first floor to third floor after 1 year and the quality of flat didn't differ. If we were to return to Sheffield, it would certainly be on our go-to lists for a place to live.
Tonydoyle Doyle
Tonydoyle Doyle: Easy access not easy to find off the huge park roundabout
John Steed
John Steed: A good place to have a good treat

Nicola Piano (Nico18n): Vicino ad un fiume. Pulito e servito da mezzi pubblici.
Life is Beautiful
Life is Beautiful: Apartments are nice, marketing of the company is superlative, they will convince you to rent the apartment. But maintenance is pathetic and the so called manager and maintenance person of the building will keep absconding. Even if they are there, they would not be able to timely solve your issues. You would start living with your issues and leave the place when your contract is over. It should be called The Gateway to hell.

Wez Brown: Nice apartments but the company that run it are really not good at all. Very disrespectful and will leave you very frustrated if anything goes wrong.
Louise Dance
Louise Dance: Lived in this place for a year now. Had it’s ups and downs when moving into the building, however that was expected seeing as we were the first tenants in the flat. But when the new manager of the building took over, it changed a lot and things started to pick up and get fixed, he’s been helpful and a lot more organised at sorting the building issues out!Overall the flats are bright and well set out. The carparking area is secured and spacious and key fob accessed. It’s be a great place to live for my final year of uni!
Ann Onymous
Ann Onymous: These people are literally the worst landlords with which I have ever had to contend. They took over from the previous landlords over a year ago, and I had nothing but trouble from them. The extractor fans in the bathrooms stopped working so I had black mould growing everywhere. They gave me multiple dates of when repair men would come, and none did. It took them 9 MONTHS to get someone to come and look at the mould which was a health hazard. I had it from my doctor that this could be what aggravated my asthma. This is a completely incompetent company that clearly only cares about your money and nothing else.I could go on and on with reasons they were absoutle garbage. Do your self a favour and DO NOT live in this building. There are dozens of other apartment buildings in Sheffield; pick any of them. A cardboard box under a bridge would be better for you than this complex. DO NOT LIVE HERE!

Velocity Tower: what do users think?
William Zhao
William Zhao: The place where I lived in between 2016 and 2017. The location is convenient. On the other hand, it’s noisy and air polluted for the reason of this building is next to a very busy ring road roundabout.
Jeff Green
Jeff Green: Ibis. Pretty central, a decent, well stocked bar. A continental buffet for breakfast, lovely staff and decent, clean and spacious rooms.
A B
A B: -2 lifts often out of service-hard to get in touch with TIR even through based at the bottom of the building-had my post stolen multiple times with no drive to solve issues by TIR-TIR lettings seem to pass off blame onto the owner, who im sure passes off blame back to them-requested a camera be placed in the post room to solve issues and was told that this was 'out of their hands' and that they 'had done all they can'-not had my windows washed in the 8 months i lived there-no concierge service as advertised, much of property not as advertised
José Feliciano
José Feliciano: The worst property management in Sheffield, don't live in here.
Isham Mohamed Iqbal
Isham Mohamed Iqbal: ⭐⭐ for the building, which requires renovation.⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the Tir Lettings, they are extremely busy however helpful.
Ben
Ben: Overpriced and bad management. Both lifts are frequently out of order so expect to walk up 15+ flights of stairs regularly. Ones been out of order for months now and no update from management.Post repeatedly stolen and expect a couple break ins a year. The one remaining lift is dirty. No more concierge service, yet rent has gone up.Utilities bill tariffs go up regularly without warning.Locked into ask4 internet provider.Car park is expensive and messy (used as storage).tir lettings are a joke.
Joanna Kemp
Joanna Kemp: Very nice apartments. Expensive for what they are but the views are lovely and the central location is exceedingly useful.Staff do not seem to communicate with one another. My car parking space was reassigned to other people 3 times during my 6 month tenancy. When I raised issues I would get told "yes, we'll sort it" by staff but then not have the issues resolved.Good for a short work tenancy but would not want this as my main residence.
Alicia Smith
Alicia Smith: Great location and nice apartments although small. Dan from J Tomlinson was extremely helpful throughout my tenancy but the lettings room were a huge disappointment. Slow and unclear responses from the staff leading to confusion and financial hardship for myself as debts were built due to their ambiguous emails.
Ali Hameed
Ali Hameed: Nice building
Sabrina Wong
Sabrina Wong: Not worth the price. Extremely poor service from the managers of the building downstairs, ”the letting rooms.” Whenever I paid my electricity bill or had any queries they would act as if I was inconveniencing them. Just generally rude people (except for Frank, the concierge). The flat needed a lot of maintenance when I first moved in. I occupied the flat for 3 1/2 months and they are charging me £620 from my deposit to redecorate and clean the flat (painting over “marks” on the wall / to reseal the bath / to clean up DUST) as seen in the pictures. Considering the state of the flat when I moved in, I believe they will just pocket this money for themselves. Absolute joke. Trying to take advantage of young students. I would definitely recommend to stay away.
Sam Sheardown
Sam Sheardown: The flats are poor quality, broken and scruffy furniture and not willing to chage itManagement are very poor and even talk badly of there own colleagues when they are not there.Lifts always brokenHad a pre move out inspection, was told everything was fine and I wouldn’t be charged anything. (All my stuff was out and flat had been cleaned)Once moved out they charge me £400+ chargesIf you want to extend your tennacy it’s £180Much better flats available in Sheffield.
Billy Dean
Billy Dean: A good location but horrible place to live. Moved in to a filthy apartment, poorly maintained and when we left it was even cleaner than when we got it. Despite this we were charged a £90 fee deducted from our deposit for menial ‘cleaning’ and a WALL repainting. But worst of all are the lettings room who manage the building, poor communication, appallingly high charges and generally rude people. I honestly believe this money has been taken and they won’t even repaint the room and will just pocket that money - considering the state we received the flat in. Also smells like toilet and bin everywhere....
Lex B
Lex B: They used to offer personal broadband that was outsourced and subscription based. Excellent. Now, they offer building wide free wifi. It is disgusting, shockingly slow, choppy, laggy. It is 2018... broadband should not be like this. So frustrating.

팍알렌: Pros: I generally found the staffs really nice. Laura who helped me with contract was very nice and helpful lady, the electrician guy was really friendly and also the concierge, Frank is really great and helpful guy. I live in high floor facing Waitrose so view is amazing. There's a decent underground car park and the lift is super fast. Also my neighbour seems to have people over occasionally but never had any noise issues whatsoever, so sound proof is great. And having a tons of electric sockets and ceiling lights is a big pro for me. The location is great too, 10mins walk to city centre, 5 mins to Moor market and 2 mins walk to Waitrose.Cons: I had a lot of maintenance issues. My water heater wasn't working properly so I had to get them changed 4 times. The little window by the bedroom to balcony didn't close properly so had to get them repaired. There was a water linkage in the sink and shower drain got clogged like 4 times. I'm a guy with short hair so that never happened in other apartments. Also Frank is a great guy but he's the only concierge in the building from Mon-Fri 9-6 which makes it hard to collect parcel or if you had any issues. So say you left your key fob in your room by mistake during weekend, if you had to call the office for help, they will charge you for that. I used to live in Velocity Village where we had 247 security so I wasn't happy with that for the price Ive paid. Like other people said, the lift often breaks and in fact, one of the lift has been broken for 2 weeks right now. The car park isn't too great for its price. The light in car park is motion sensitive that goes off in 3 mins so if you ever needed to do some cleaning, repairing or whatever with your car, it will be a hassle. Also the gate opening sound that you need to hear every time you step out of ur car to open it, will tear out your ear drums. Its like chalkboard scratching sound x100.So overall, posh looking apartment with okey price, great staffs but not so good maintenance.
Spencer Mack
Spencer Mack: Frank, the concierge, is always willing to help. The same could never be said for The Lettings Room, the managers of the building. They are condescending and, at times, out right rude. Do not expect much from them. The building itself is nice although, not maintained effectively. The lifts are often broken and take weeks to fix. That being said, the location in Sheffield is amazing. Close to everything you'll need and transport links nearby to places farther away.
Drew Foster
Drew Foster: I f i could give this place 0 stars i would. shoddy building work, no heating so you need to buy lots of blankets for winter, no ventilation system and it traps heat in summer to the point its 40 degrees inside when 24 outside. water leakages from any rain, the lifts are usually not working for months on end, so a potential 21 flight climb with shopping. no running water for several days during the last year. Not nearly air tight with holes leading outside around windows and doors. Boilers break all the time/ don't work. no access to meter readings. You're not allowed to change any of your suppliers. The management 'the lettings room' down on the ground floor will try to take as much fro you as possible, they won't help with any problems and will always find a loophole to get around trouble leaving you to have to make do. Parking is £60 on top of rent which is extortionately high for 1 bedroom apartments. The only good thing was frank the doorman, although because the lettings room made him do the odd jobs around the building he wasn't regularly at his desk if you had an issue. I implore you to look down one of the roads surrounding the tower as they are just as close to the city, much cheaper and nicer. Especially if you're a foreign student or just a first time renter for that matter. Its a horrid place and i wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy.
June Z
June Z: Many facilities such as lifts are broken much of the time. You don't want to leave in a high rise without a lift. Nice looking from the outside. Piss poor service maintenance and quality on the inside.
Atul Ganorkar
Atul Ganorkar: Posh place to live.
Jonny White
Jonny White: Great location but building quality and services leave a lot to be desired.

Dun Works: what do users think?
Danny Nicholson
Danny Nicholson: Constant drilling every day from 8am due to the fact the building was rushed up and flammable insulation was used. You can tell the flats we're rushed up when you go inside your room too. Paint splashed everywhere, marks on the walls. Many people who live in the flats are also very up themselves! Not a friendly community of people told live with for the most part. Mental health plummeted drastically while staying here!
Chris Jenkin
Chris Jenkin: I really enjoy listening to them drilling into the walls non-stop all day because they cheaped out when building the place and used flammable insulation. Very cool and good for my mental health!
