Martin McAssey Glass: what do users think?
sue withey: Excellent teaching, friendly class, great resources.
Andrew Wardlaw: Martins courses are absolutely brilliant! Fantastic instruction and you have some great pieces to go home with. I did the 12 week stained glass course and loved it. Will be coming back to do more! Thanks Martin!
Carmen Andradas: Wow, what a fun day the Fused Glass workshop is. We recently attended this as a group of four family members. This workshop really is suitable for all ages, our group ranged from 24-80.We were all total beginners to Fused Glass, but this didn't matter as everything was clearly explained by Martin. We tried different processes and different products through the day, making coasters, bowls and sun catchers. No question was too much for Martin, and the size of the group meant he was able to help when needed. We all really enjoyed the workshop and thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
Patrick Crowley: This was my first ever stained glass course, having been inspired to try this field from a previous mosaic glass course.I found this course to be excellent in building my skills from novice to having produced three pieces of work by the end of the course using the various techniques listed. It has been a great outlet for my creativity and I have found the lessons very enjoyable, a place where I can just switch off from the outside world and be in the creative zone for a few hours each week. All tools are supplied on the course and a thorough instruction is given in how to use them and any safety procedures to follow. The workshop is modern, purpose-built, well located with parking and accessible by public transport.Martin is a great instructor, offering good quality teaching, advice on all aspects including on my own end project and gave me good encouragement throughout the course which built my confidence further.I would not hesitate to recommend this course and I have already booked for my second course in 2023.I also did the one day scrap glass course with Kate Billington this Autumn which I would also highly recommend.Kate is a great teacher, all materials are supplied and we managed to cram in all the techniques and steps leading to a completed scrap glass mosaic piece by the end of the day. It was a great way to utilise spare small stained glass pieces to make another beautiful object!
Gabbie Pattison: I am about to start my fourth course, it is extremely enjoyable and addictive and a great way to make new friends.Martin is an excellent tutor with superb subject knowledge, he knows when to step back and let you have space, but equally knows when to be there with encouragement or advice.I can highly recommend the course to anyone wanting to try a new venture, or to hone their skills.
Meghan New: I had such a great time in this course, I genuinely looked forward to it every week and was great for me to take some time out of my hectic life and concentrate on something just for me. It really helped me with my mental health and gave me something to focus on.Martin is a knowledgeable and approachable teacher, I was comfortable from the start and he was always available for help if needed. His teaching style would suit all types of learners and everyone would benefit from this.I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a new hobby or just taking some time for themselves. I have learnt some valuable skills and I have even continued to make stained glass art at home.Martin - thank you so much for bringing a calmness and confidence out in me I didn't know I had! This is much appreciated and I am very grateful.
Claire: Have been wanting to have a go at fused glass for some time and this was worth the wait. Martins workshop is spacious and comfortable. As a beginner I found the instruction pitched just right and had no trouble following it to create my pieces. There was a lot of choice of glass and colours so you can let your imagination go for it. I hope to go back again to have another go
Gemma Perkins: I absolutely loved the full day workshop making tiffany glass flowers. I had never done glass cutting before but by the end I'd made a gorgeous bouquet of flowers (see picture).Kate, who led the workshop, was an excellent instructor. She let the people who knew what they were doing get on and use the equipment whilst she taught us the step by steps to: cutting glass, grinding edges, applying copper tape, soldering, adding embellishments, staining the solder and waxing our finished pieces.I thoroughly enjoyed the day and am really pleased with what I got to take home. Would highly recommend.
Kelly Marsden: Fantastic one day workshop. Complete beginner and made a beautiful stained glass piece.
Alfonsi Violette: On my one-day traditional stained glass workshop experience: Absolutely brilliant workshop and courses offered in Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet! I Challenging, inspiring and great fun, with -icing on the cake- the pleasure and satisfaction of bringing home what you have managed to put together during the class/workshop! Kate was a brilliant tutor throughout: precise, attentive, dynamic, funny and full of tips! Looking forward to doing more with Martin McAssey Glass. The location is beautiful and the prices very affordable!
Lise Sproson: I attended the 10 week course and highly recommend it. Martin is always able to provide each student with the advice and support they individually require and the group feeling is calm and light hearted. Such a lovely setting at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet.I learnt all of the skills described and have 3 lovely items to keep.Free secure parking and a drink of your choice each evening.I will be doing more courses
David Slater: I've been several times to the weekly stained glass workshops, and the one day glass-painting course, and the experience is consistently good. Teaching (by both Martin and Kate) is excellent, the studio well equipped and the atmosphere friendly. Highly recommended.
Sophie Priest: A brilliant class making stained glass windows. Knowledgeable helpful tutor and lovely location
yvonne newton: Loving Martin's classes 👍
carys hutton: Very enjoyable glass fusing course led by Martin. Martin is clearly very experienced and shared lots of techniques with the class. We were able to make a number of pieces in the day. I've booked to go on the same course again later in the year.
Rebecca Barnes: Attended the one day fused glass workshop. Very enjoyable day. Martin was an excellent tutor. We had the opportunity to make multiple pieces. All materials and tools provided. Would highly recommend
Lynn Jones: Fused glass Christmas Decoration workshopReally enjoyed this workshop, there was just the right amount of tuition, support and independent working opportunities. All materials were provided and you could follow the demonstration given or develop your own ideas.
jane grubb: Attended a course on scrap glass mosaics. It was fantastic. Kate was very patient, supportive and very informative. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and would highly recommend the course.
Deborah Garvican: Kate was a brilliant tutor. We learnt the skills needed to make a traditional stained glass sun catcher. Highly recommended.
Andy Widdison: Really fantastic day. Didn’t think I would be able to do the stain glass window I made.
Hannah Stiver: I took a one day traditional stained class course with Kate and was hooked! I then did the 10 week beginners course with Martin and loved it! A great way to spend an evening a week, would definitely recommend
