PureGym Reading Caversham Road: what do users think?
Rory Cantellow: PureGym Caversham. First trip here as Basingstoke Road closed for refurb. Impressed. Like the layout. Interesting clientele - different to the Basingstoke OG gang for sure. Equipment and machines well placed. Functional area small and tight. Lots of equipment. Changing rooms a treck upstairs around the houses - bit like being in IKEA. Yeah. Like it. Bonus factor - a lot of posturing and questionable clothing. Hey, it’s the upper class part of Reading right? Good gym. Good atmosphere. Recommended. Ample parking out the back.
ferry shah: Positive:QualityAre the reviews answered by the manager of the gym or by someone superior. ?
Dirthouse: 10x better than the Basingstoke Road branch. However… as with all PureGyms, the spray bottles are always empty. And having minimal staff/automated services really does not work.
Anca D: Value for money. And if you go at the right times of the day, not crowded
Abdul Sheikh: I lost my AirPods case in the gym around 22:00 pm 19th May it was a case in one of the treadmills and has 1 right AirPod if anyone has found it could they please contact me
Ibi Naeem: Great place and great people
Matt Evans: So many machines out of order. Seated hamstring curl has been like it for months.
Michael Page: I like the puregym brand. This particular venue could really do with better ventilation though
David May: If Caversham Road one entrance almost inaccessible to pedestrians. Hence didn't join.
John Chalcroft: Great love it easy parking 👍
Tom LEE: Good place for people to do the gym and physical exercise. There have sufficient parking spaces. Also, you can reach city centre and railway station with throwing stone distance.
David Jurca: This gym has too many memberships ... the space is very small ... every time you have to wait to be able to use something... 👎
David Ahern: Best one of their gyms I’ve been to. Clean and tidy. Plenty of equipment. Staff very friendly. Loads of parking space. Doesn’t smell like a lot of the other ones
julien menu: Simple and efficient, good prize
Ayman Awan: If u wanna get suffocated to death, this is the place. Too many wana be Arnie’s at this place..Cleanliness is below Zero.
Kyle Hobbs: Very clean tired upto date place love working out there only problem is with the people who manage the car park
Damian Damisn: Worst gym i have ever seen. Poor condition of equipment, low quality training machines. Impossible to train properly as the gym is always busy. I don't recommend this place.
Niecey: Massage chairs never worked. Spray bottles always empty. Ceiling always leaking. Had to walk through a pitch black alley way to get to the gym. Didn't feel safe. Cancelled membership.
Simon Maloney: By far the best for quality of equipment/space and service level!
Jenny K: Good gym with lots of equipment and friendly staff. There is a lack of floor space to stretch and it can be busy in Jan and certain evenings throughout the year but if you are flexible in your workout then I have never had trouble getting on equipment. Very reasonably priced and classes included.
Kelly UK: Clean, well equipped gym. Good value for money

PureGym Reading Basingstoke Road: what do users think?
Tamuka Muvevi: Affordable prices and a variety of gym equipment though they neglect the basics like sanity in the toilets. Overally it's a good gym but I'd rather go to PureGym Caversham
Nathan Holland: Not as clean as it could be!!
Amy Puddephatt: Usually like it here. Main complaint previously is the festival sound levels some trainers do during classes which, as someone generally using the gym, means I need to have my headphones on the highest volume (not good for the ears) to hear my own music or podcasts.I understand the gym is under renovation but we were misled to believe we could still work out there.I mean, you can if you go super early morning & don’t mind waiting for the one rowing machine, but that’s a stretch.I would’ve been nice to have been offered free access to another PureGym nearby while renovations are going on as the gym on Basingstoke road is, frankly, unusable right now. We’ve now had to pay for the Plus membership, out our own pocket, to actually be able to work out in another PureGym.Terrible on the PureGym management to do this & not provide adequate compensation to customers.
Kenneth Critcher: Undergoing renovation works!
Fran Mullany: Usually good, but due to the refurbishment half the machines aren't plugged in. There's no signs on them telling you this though - seems like a lack of planning and communication from the staff.
Yukesh Gurung: Great place to workout with lots of equipments easily accessible and lots of parking spaces.
christopher neil: Update, June 23Many machines simply turned off, won't operate. No soap in the bathroomsRenovation ongoing in the gym. Fine, but a lot of equipment and space not available, so why charge people this month? The gym itself is fine, but the BASICS are neglected. No soap in the bathroom, one working water fountain. Infuriating.Lots of rules on the wall, not enforced. Bags and coats all over the floor. When there is a class on (almost all the time) the music is so loud you can't hear your own music even at max volume. There is no dividing wall. The crowd you get at a gym depends on the environment you create. If you have to step over bags and coats all the time why bother at all.
Rafal Maka: very good place to get rid of calories
Dirthouse: Due for a major upgrade. Overly busy and the weights never get put away in the correct place - it’s a dying art. Also; need a pre-workout? Need a protein shake? Well the vending machines never work.
F Clarke: The staff are basically window dressing and there's not really anyone keeping any sort of order but its a gym
Vish B: Very crowded and not so well maintained.
liviu mihaita: Very unhappy incident,my friend’s car along with my personal belongings has been broken and lost every item left inside of it. It happened 1 hour ago. Please do something with car park in terms of surveillance !
Shilton Angwabu: I'm dropping my rating for a few reasons;Firstly, there has been an alarming number of car break ins. I'm a victim. I complained to staff last year when it happened and advised for a security light/camera to be installed by the side parking. Nothing has been done and same thing keeps happening.Secondly, the water fountain upstairs has been blocked for more than a week now and instead to stop people from using it or sorting it out, it's still filled with filthy water. This is unacceptable to say the least.Management should please do something.
Mya Sialwiindi: Always clean, the times I go mean I don't always have to wait to use the machines or they are always available. A wife choice of equipment. Only reason why it's not 5* is because there is no pool and sauna. Great otherwise
S D: Great gym. Spend 5/6 times a week there. Well kept, good selection of machines
Kurt Boyd: Good gym. Only downside is alot of people don't re-rack their weights. Could also use a boxing bag.
Umar Khan: Free parking, convenient location and can do grocery shopping from the Lidl outside.Update: have changed it from 5 stars to 2 stars! Like others have mentioned, the standards are going down! The downstairs water fountain has been out of order for months now which is ridiculous! Should be a 5 mins plumber job! Some of the machines are out of order and it's been like this for some time now!If it continues like this, will have to consider terminating the membership!
J D: Updated with some new machines and bench press equipments and very well organised and have listened to the customers feedbacks and feels good to join back again.
Paula: I used to love this gym but lately it has truly been going down the hill. The equipment is old, not maintained well, not great selection either and most importantly only one tap with drinking water works. One has been broken for months and pipes stink. Sorry had to be done as I know people complain but nothing is done about it
Harpreet Singh: 24 hr gym. Equipment is good. Only bad park is lack of plates and how people can't put the weights back on the back properly. But that's to do with the user's I guess. More direction should be make from staff to users
David Keeling: Plenty of equipment, always clean and tidy

SportsPark: what do users think?
Stephen Nottage: Used for squash. Courts in good condition
Varun Dhanwani: Pocket friendly place. Just 1.05 pounds entry fee
James Cooper-Lloyd: A fairly good gym close to the centre of campus, however as others have said, it gets very cramped once past 4-5PM. The music is also extremely loud and bass heavy which is a distractions. For some reason the treadmills limit the amount of time you can spend on them so I often have to rush to get the miles in which has led to almost constant foot injuries. In summary, it’s an ok gym for casual goers or short cardio sessions and 1st years with not much better to do, but for anyone else will be a stuffy, hot and loud experience.
Roopal S.: I love the pilâtes, yoga and Zumba classes. Great community.
Penguin: Tea was good and the nice man let me have a free biscuit
Leila Davis: Lovely clean and modern facilities
Ali Shihab: Lovely place, two floors in the gym, nice spacious locker room and locker options. Prices are also good and they are opened 8-10 and 8-9 on weekends. Haven't explored everything but there is no swimming pool is what I know. Workers are lovely, cooperate, and nice to talk to.
Ollie Leat: A really good gym with a decent variety of machines and lots of classes available. However, it does feel like it lacks some space when it gets busy particularly in the evening. I’d recommend going earlier in the day if you want an uninterrupted workout.
Max Tingay-Holt: The gym is way too small for a UNIVERSITY gym. It either needs changing to have more equipment or needs to be open for longer because once you hit 4/5 o’clock, there’s not much point in going until 9 but because it closes at 10, you’re workout has to be rushed a little. Only reason it gets 2 stars is due to its ease of access, especially for a first year student
Amarachi Udechi: I love what am seeing
Amy H: Nice sports centre but i think the facilities (i.e toilets and changing rooms) are very basic compared to other gyms. Hence only 3 stars.
Stuart: Great place
Rodolph Warot: Great sport facilities & a warm welcome.
Tom LEE: Staff are friendly and helpful. Sufficient parking spaces are provided for users. Cafe is located near the entrance to indoor sports hall.
Dan Amoah: Great sports centre. Good service
Danny Pitcher Enterprises: I'm sorry but the university gym ain't even it. It's too small, the lights are too dim, it's not fully equipped, it appears to be in a constant state of disarray with plates and bars all over the place. Not even worth the price I paid for. Management tried to upsell me at first and they refused to let me cancel until after 2 months.
Razvan Alin Chiuzbaian: This is just great, only play 6-a side footy there but it’s always great and now they have resurfaced the pitches which is so much better. It’s clean like no other pitch in Reading and staff is respectful as well.
S: Have VO2 Max membership and played on the tennis court the most, I have to say very bad tennis court management
Chaitanya Appana: Amazing Sports and Leisure center in the middle of the town!👏Their VO2 Max membership allows to book all indoor Badminton, Squash and Table Tennis courts to be booked Free!! Hardly any other center allows Free these days!Lot of Gym/Fitness classes to explore and lots of Parking 🅿️ around the Campus..
C G: Great little gym
Elli: Gym rooms are great

PureGym Reading Calcot: what do users think?
Lottie Heath: I enjoy this gym, very good range of equipment and even when busy at peak times I can get my workout done. Cleaner than other gyms I've been to in Reading. The only downside is that it is very warm, I was hot before I even started my work out, meaning I was ridiculously warm when working out. It needs to be kept cooler given people attend the gym to work out and get warm doing so!
Geoff O'Brien: Clean, plenty of workstations, good atmosphere. Can get busy during peak times but still enough equipment to find something else, if what you want is currently being used.
Sammy: Great gym, excellent selection of equipment.Laid out well and very clean
Krzysztof Przybyłowski: Good gym, lots of free parking spaces
kim cushing: PureGym Calcot is a fantastic gym.The classes delivered by Kay are of the highest standard. Kay’s energy is infectious, he pushes everyone to reach their full potential regardless of which class he is doing. His pump, spin, LBT and Sweat 30 are just the best!He is highly professional and knowledgeable, delivering incredible classes each and every time. He really makes you feel that your goals are totally achievable and you feel so strong and motivated to return time and time again! Thanks for your enthusiasm Kay!
Dan Rogerson: The showers are bloody freezing, especially when two people are using them at once
Adrian Licorish: Kayley and Tracey some of the best pt's in reading .Good clean and friendly gym enviroment
David May: Not happy with upstairs location. Decided against joining as too long a public transport journey
John Smith: Great gym. Friendly and all the equipment you need in v.good condition
Steven James: Good up to date range of workout equipment.Out of peak hours, there isn't a wait for equipment, and cleaning stations are easily accessible.Lockers are available you just need to provide a lock.Changing rooms are clean and tidy with additional lockers provided.Puregym is a nice environment to go and work out in.
Damian Oke: This gym is far too hot, the heat hits you as soon as you walk in, I have spoken with the staff who agree but for some bizarre reason the temperature is controlled by head office. It never used to be like this. I am now looking for a new gym because doing any kind of CV work in this heat is impossible unless you want to pass out. You can actually feel the heat blowing out of the air conditioning vents. Also the cable machines are always broken, there is usually only one out of three if them working so impossible to get on. It's a shame because apart from these issues the gym would be good.
Chris B: Great Atmosphere....clean...nice place
Josh Thomas: Slightly too small for the amount of users. Otherwise a good gym
Jack Somerville: Good gym, have equipment I need. Although I think there air conditioning needs sorting out as you can feel the heat hit you as soon as you walk in. Getting too hot before I’ve even started my workout, very uncomfortable atmosphere.
David Stopforth: Good value.
Ashley Scott: The Pump class is a great workout.
Pawel Pablo: Fantastic
FollowMyJourney: Edit: since I posted this review I have been very impressed, was very annoying having loads of broken machines but since they’ve done great, also when they do break they get fixed very quickly! Very happy and really impressed me!Old review: Well not the best experience so far £29.99 a month and 90% of the cable machines are broken! At peak times the gym is full of the type that do a set then rest on Facebook for ten minutes then do another set! If you want to do cardio great gym if you want to grow muscle well in the 6 weeks I have been 90% of the stuff is snapped!!! So annoyed went today and walked back out, and started looking for gyms local with better facilities, the Staff are very friendly such a shame it’s left to fall apart!
Jamie: Booked an induction class and instructor didn't even turn up. No staff to be found on the place eitherWaste of time
trust zadzi: It's the best place to shape your body.
Will Mead: Been there a few times and I can say that it is a great gym. There is a wide range of dumbel weights and plenty of benches.
