User FAQs

The main attraction to the area is the man made boating lake which has pedal boats available for hire. There is also a large and very popular children's play area with equipment for all ages, including a zip wire, sand pit, and water area.

Canoe Lake is known as a swan's nursery, with mute swans choosing it as one of their sites in the Solent. Up to 60 juveniles can congregate here for comfort and security during the winter. Bread can be harmful for the swans, so wheat grain is a healthier alternative available at the nearby cafe.

There are many sports facilities available at the park, ranging from a putting green, grass and tarmac tennis courts, to a basketball court. Further east, there is St. Helen's Cricket Field and Southsea Mini-Links, a challenging 9-hole golf course.

Visitors can enjoy free entry to Portsmouth's Natural History Museum at Cumberland House, which tells the story of the wild things of the riverbank, marshes, woods, and urban areas of Portsmouth. The museum also features an aquarium and butterfly house (only in the summer).

Visitors can work up an appetite for cake or brunch at the Tenth Hole Pitch and Putt, or explore eateries at CourtX, which is home to international tournament standard tennis courts. Additionally, there is a cafe located nearby at Canoe Lake for refreshments.
