Holiday Inn Portsmouth, an IHG Hotel: what do users think?
Olafemi Xavier: A good stay at this Holidays Inn. The main thing I think requires improvement is that some of the upholstery and furniture look a bit battered. Otherwise the staff were very friendly, the room was comfortable and the food was good.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Quiet …More
Chris Dadswell: Great location, easy to get to harbour. Plenty of space on the ground floor. Nice friendly staffRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Caro Bush: I have been using the pool facilities for a number of months for my babies swimming lessons which are amazing but not cheap, however the pool facilities are absolutely filthy. I have complained to reception numerous times as well as other users.Women's changing room constantly smells of urine, mass amounts of hair everywhere clogging drains and the floor is covered in thick black water continuously.I only use the facility as I'm restricted by work else if I was a paying to stay there I would walk out and get my money back.I have attached a photo of my babies towel after briefly sitting on the floor. Disgusting.
allison wilkinson: Absolutely loved this hotel. We had a great time. The family room was so spacious with comfortable beds. The breakfast was fantastic, piping hot food from the buffet. Lovely staffRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury …More
Derek Tweedie: No working aircon in my room. Supplied with a fan. Luckily it's a bit cooler today, Breakfast is good with lots of choices, continental or full English, toast, cereals etc. Has a spa and swimming pool, but I didn't get the chance to use it.Great location, right near the seafront.
Paul Shilston: Tired and outdated. Looks awful from outside. Breakfast was good, staff not that friendlyRooms: 3/5|Service: 2/5|Location: 3/5 …More

Tom Tom: Lovely stay! Staff were lovely, nice facilities, nice food.Rooms: Lots of spaceNearby activities: Beach And PierFood & drinks: Breakfast has a wide range.
Guybabu: Family staycation over the bank holiday weekendRooms: Clean . daily serviced. Tea and coffee facilities. Air-conditioned. Thin walls-can be disturbed by people’s activity on corridor or other room doors closing. Ironing facilities in room but no fridge.Nearby activities: Walking distance to seafront under 10 minutes. Lots of open spaces for picnics. Near historic sites.Food & drinks: Good breakfast spread. Queueing when it became busy as the area was smallNoteworthy details: Had refreshments at reception on check-in – most welcome.Timely repair of blocked sinkSmall /compact health club areaTight and limited parking. However, voucher available for street parking for same cost.
Michael Slade: Well positioned..easy access to Southsea sea front..Rooms: Clean, well maintained, good bathroom facilitiesRooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 4/5Hotel highlights Great view …More
Kevin Emberson: It's O.K. for sightseeing.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 4/5Hotel highlights Quiet, Kid-friendly, Great value …More
Lesley Buchan: Basic hotel for the cost with breakfast. Bathroom is ridiculously small. Big shower, toilet is placed to close to wash basin. Nearly put my eye out on the basin tap. Won't stay here againRooms: 1/5|Location: 3/5 …More
Jose Looker: Very nice
Double D: This was actually a hard review to write. The staff, location and food are all great but it’s let down by the cleanliness standards and general tiredness of the place. The gym and pool changing rooms in particular need a revamp. IHG should look to invest to bring it back up to top standards but I suppose it is only a 3 star.

Travers Valerie: Very busy . Huge sandwiches with salad dressing . Good real aleService: 3/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Matt Wilson: This place is fantastic, it's a complete contradiction of itself, admittedly we stayed last summer and id not got round to reviewing it, the room was tired but clean, the staff were great, the bar stayed open all damn night and the Sunday roast was good enough to cure that last bit. You'd not be suprised if Basil Fawlty was behind the counter shouting at Manuel but that was part of the charm. Its cheap, the locations great, it's got parking and did I mention the bar stays open all night? It's a 1 star 5 star hotel 👍
Gemma Annies: Very nice hotel. 2 min walk to the Historic Dockyard. 5 mins from Gunwharf Quays shopping centre. We stayed in room 14. Was clean and comfortable. We did not have a sea view but I can only imagine how lovely that would have been since you can see HMS Warrior from the door step!!The breakfast room is gorgeous. Bright and airy. Buffet hot breakfast on our first morning and staff were happy to cook a separate vegetarian breakfast for me. We were told on day 2 the buffet was a trial but I think it worked really well. Day 2 was table service.Staff were really friendly. Happy to let me have a jug of fresh milk for my cuppa in the room. The car park is quite small and took some manoeuvring to park but considering that you're right on the front - any free parking is a big plus.We look forward to returning!Rooms: Clean. Plenty of tea/coffee/hot chocolate.Nearby activities: Close to the Historic Dockyard and Gunwarf Quays shopping centre (Vue cinema, bowling, lots of restaurants).About a 15-20 min walk to the town centre.
Ted Finlay: Great hotel, perfect location , very cleanAmazing breakfast,Good staff made us feel at homeRooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great view, Quiet, Great value …More
Lesley Wilson: I slept well ate well and staff were attentativeRooms: Room very clean and comfyNearby activities: Shops pubs places of interest near bySafety: Felt very safeWalkability: Everything you need on the doorstepFood & drinks: Breakfast was all freshly cooked and staff were very efficient. Dining room was quite spectacular to look at
Jeferonis: Localización ideal para conocer la historia de Portsmouth, habitaciones cómodas, precio acorde, personal amable y un muy buen restaurante.
Michael Ballack: The staff was very friendly and helpful. Proximity to the historic dock is the biggest plus. I had a saggy bed, the walls of my room were so thin that I was woken up at 5:30 am by the neighbors talking. On the first floor is a fire door that bangs loudly when someone walks through it. The bathroom was very modern, but there was no shelf for a toiletry bag, razor, toothbrush, etc. (there was definitely enough space for a small chest of drawers/a table). Breakfast choices were limited, food was ok.
Gaynor Deacon: Nearby activities: 5 mins to the historic dockyardWalkability: Right opposite the portsmouth Harbour station and coach depot. Very convenient.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Quiet …More
Rudraksh Gaur: Absolutely horrible food. Wouldn't recommend. The first two courses were so bad that I had to cancel the third one. The restaurant was completely empty too and there was no music.
Kate Holcombe: Outstanding food, a real hidden gem
Jonathan Collins: Lovely friendly hotel, just a bit overpriced and the room we were in needs some updating. Jodie at reception gave us a warm and friendly welcome and went the extra mile to make our stay special. Thank you Jodie and the team at Keppel’s Head Hotel.

Premier Inn Portsmouth City Centre hotel: what do users think?
Jeff Tann: Great central location. Ideal if you're going to the Guildhall and shops nearby. Parking deal with nearby car park 200 yards away. Only niggle was there were 5 or 6 couples waiting to check in at 14.45 and receptionist made everyone wait till the official check in time of 15:00 even though most of the rooms would have been ready. Room was clean and comfortable as always with Premier Inn. Breakfast was very good.
Sue Spiller: Very helpful staff, nice room. But next to and level with a train track! Make sure you ask for room on the other side.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 3/5 …More
Tony C: well located, within 15 min walk to Gunwharf Quays where they are many branded outlets. the hms warrior is beautiful nearby. the multi story carpark is 3 min away and £4.50 per day is reasonable. large cars will have difficulty going up a level as the lane is narrow.Rooms: we had a room facing the railway, so it was noisy at night and morning evening with window closed. air cond room but with window sealed. the room was really hot and with bad stuffy smell when we arrived. had customer service to turn air cond high and cold while keep the room door open. after a couple of hour, the room wss good to use.
Claire Williams: Love a cold room to that it was and central only stayed one night but would defo stay againRooms: Aircon brilliant
Richard West: Good position. 2 minutes from the train station.Fantastic Aircon .Rooms: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Quiet, Kid-friendly, Great value …More
Nikki Caron: If you actually want to sleep.. DONT STAY HERE.if you don’t want to feel like a train is coming through your window… DONT STAY HERE.if you don’t want to hear constant, and I really do mean constant banging, doors slamming, feet tapping, all night, from every angle, in the hallways, from the rooms next door and above.. DONT STAY HERE.That all sounds so dramatic but it’s was hands down the worst night sleep in the noisest hotel I have ever had.. and I was one a club rep in magaluf so that tells you everything about how noisy it is here.Lights flickering constantly in my room so felt like I was in a rave by the time I went to bed. I had been on the road since 4am so thought It wouldn’t matter and I would sleep, but my goodness that was not happening! Also, it’s not overly obvious that the car park is actually a dodgy multi story car park not attached to the hotel a short walk away and you have to get the parking ticket punched by the hotel to get it for about 60% off, just a tad annoying and didn’t really like leaving my car there all night. The ONLY saving grace, was the one lady on reception who was lovely on arrival. If you actually want sleep, stay a little further out somewhere else.. anywhere else.
mark james: A basic hotel with no parking food not to bad, but id prefer staying somewhere else.Rooms: 2/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 3/5 …More

Patrick: We have been scammed when coming outside from the UK in the place we were supposed to stay for our holidays in Southampton. Due to cruise ships that night all hotels have been booked out and the next available hotel was this Premier Inn in Portsmouth. Desperate for having a place to sleep with a toddler we headed again with the taxi there. Tired and in disbelieve what has happened to my family and me we were welcomed warm, understanding and very professionally by the young lady called Gabriella on the check in desk who immediately sorted us out. I explained our circumstances and she went the extra mile with a smile to make sure we are in best hands. She even had an agreement with her manager to let us have a complimentary breakfast hence the fact we had such a terrible day. She provided an excellent service which we appreciate so much. Thank you again Gabriella. You rock!!!!!!
David Clark: Have had previous issues with Premier Inn, and would not use them again if they paid me.Rooms: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Location: 1/5 …More
S Travers (The Huntress): Convenient location in the heart of Portsmouth however it’s literally right next door to the train station and therefore a noisy place, particularly up until around 2am with trains. Other than than, it’s a Premier Inn, mid/m-budget offerings but nice enough place to get your head down for the night.

Robin: Fabulous historical house. Quirky and tasteful with a great host.Has rooms with en suites, a bar and provides a delicious continental breakfast with smoked salmon and peeled boiled eggs, plus homemade Pasta del Nata, which are Portuguese Custard Tarts, delicious. Brilliant location just 10 minutes walk from the centre and they provide a parking voucher for 24 hours. Will certainly stay again.

The property is exceptional and has been loving upgraded whilst maintaining the historic beauty in tacked. The room I had was pleasant and had all you could need for a short stay. Comfy bed and nice bathroom. All clean and the addition of a sofa and seating and mini bar all very welcome. The host was equally welcoming. In summer months the garden is a real treat too. Will definitely return the next time I’m in Portsmouth.

Ian and Alex are amazing hosts, always ready to suggest a restaurant, a trip, or have a nice chat over drinks in their lovely bar about the historic events that took place there. Thank you!

Ashley Meredith: We had our wedding reception here on Friday 16th, it was absolutely fantastic! Irene and her team went above and beyond to make the day special and I can’t thank them enough. The Elizabeth room is stunning, the garden is beautiful and a perfect place for everyone to enjoy the sun, take photos and drink whilst Irene and the team changed the room from dinner ready for the partyWe thoroughly enjoyed the queens and we will be back to reminisce our special dayThank you all, it was the most perfect day!
Candy Bourgeois: Duke's Bar was just what we were looking for on our visit to Portsmouth. Beautiful views, good food & drink and friendly staff!Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Susan Petrie: The meal cost £22.00The first course was chicken with shared bowls of vegetables. By the time they came to me there were hardly any left - not enough! I chose fresh fruit desert which was three very small pieces of fresh fruit. A rip.off.Service: 3/5|Location: 3/5 …More
Sarah Barton: It is lovely to see this grand building looking beautiful again. Can only comment on public areas on foyer floor. Staff very attentive ...here for a work meeting on a very hot day. Plenty of iced water provided throughout the day. I would only question why the sandwich lunch was put out an hour before needed, uncovered, when so hot. Otherwise, an excellent venue for various work or personal occasions in my opinion.
Ryan Copping: Went for Afternoon Tea with family as part of our joint Wedding Anniversary celebrations, and the Service and Food was very disappointing compared to when we went in March 2023. Had to ask 3 times for extra sandwiches which eventually arrived 30 mins later, and also had to get up and speak to staff for glasses of champagne and extra tea. There was plenty of staff on duty but they were not attentive at all. Hence, a disappointing experience.

Marion Naish: Really lovely place, food was excellent ,staff really good especially Mia and Dana.Food & drinks: Excellent
Alison Kitching: Room nice but wardrobe no second handle, bath had damage one that could have been easily fixed. Parking a nightmare I think just from experience we paid £200 we can normally get a sea view for that price. Just don't feel it was value for moneyRooms: Ok but damage bath, shabby shek? If luxury for £200 not even a box of tissues. Owners said they had read my review and not happy they had also looked at my trip advisor account I hope they looked at my revisedfor the isle of Mann hotelWalkability: Easy walk to Southsea beach
Joe Freeman: Fantastic hotel, beautiful rooms, superb customer service and very nice food.Rooms: Rooms decorated to a very high standardFood & drinks: Excellent food, quality is very high particularly the breakfast
Wayne Smith: Room was beautiful, large, very clean, warm and good value.Staff were very pleasant, efficient and helpful.Breakfast was from a menu. I had a cook breakfast; it was nicely cooked and the ingredients tasted fresh.Walkability: The Southsea pebble beach is less than 5 minute walk away. There are a number of restaurants serving food from around the world 10 minutes walk away (walking up Florence Road away from the beach)
Aisha O: I was disappointed because I paid for a Superior SuperKing, but was given a double room. The double room was okay in terms of looks however the breakfast was really small. The staff was really good to keep our luggage while we explored the city after we checked out.
Angela Sharpling: Another wonderful stay. Rooms are beautifully decorated and a decent size perfect for a comfortable night. Breakfast excellent with a great choice to set you up for a day exploring Southsea/Portsmouth.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Quiet …More

Harl wing: 5/5 great place in Portsmouth
Nikos Lazos: Ωραία ξενοδοχείο με καλή τοποθεσία και ωραίο πρωινό. Ωστόσο τα δωμάτια ήταν λίγο μικρά.
Susanne Bierbaumer: Very special Bed and Breakfast in Portsmouth - they renovated several buildings - we were at Sumer set house right across the street to the Breakfast bar - they had a variety of delicious food to choose. The concierge was so nice - we came with a camper an - so the access to a parking place was not easy to find in the street - so the manager removed his car! Walking distance to many restaurants an the sea with pier.
Mrs GC MG: Lovely clean spacious room Plenty of choice for breakfast.Staff very helpful.Parking is a problem as very limited Room was pricey but due to Goodwood Festival of Speed everywhere the same Definitely will return and recommendRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More

Dame: Pros - Beautiful spacious room. Very clean and comfortable. Modern bathroom with a large shower. Excellent breakfast choices, all well cooked. Very good location for the hovercraft and not far for major shopping in Portsmouth.Cons - The rooms are in a separate building to the reception and dining room. There are stairs everywhere so not good if you struggle. Parking is a major issue. The hotel has a few spaces but most is on street and difficult to find. The in room spa is a great idea but the masseuse was late with no apology. The set up was hurried and felt stressful and the massage was average.
Caroline Martins: This hotel advertises its self as boutique. We did not experience a boutique hotel. We were placed in one of the outlying houses. The room was fairly big. But the toilet was separate from the bathroom with no sink. It was like a cubby hole. So small that you had to back into it and sit straight on the toilet. There is no fridge, no coffee machine, no free water. The decoration was pretty, the chests of draws were cute. However. It lacks professional finish, there are wonky plug sockets on the wall for the TV. The light switches are not attractive or subtle and the wires are not chases into the wall. Just covered by plastic covering. There's no light over the tucked away mirror. The radiator was a little rusty, as was the shaving mirror. This hotel room would be fine and a good price if it was £80. At £185.00 through hotels.com very overpriced, maybe we could have found it at a better price? There were no luxuries but the room was clean, the bed comfortable.Would we stay here again? No. Not unless they stepped up to living up to their promises.
Adrian Quick: A great find.Comfortable and clean rooms, lovely breakfast and very helpful staff

First impressions was a cheap hostel, the smell of cats pee at entrance, the audacity to sign a waiver not to smoke in room when the bathroom smells of smoke!! Beer bottles and tins on balcony. A wardrobe that couldn't be used as a table and chairs was in front!! Water stains on ceiling and rock hard beds. Don't bother! Budget hotel, not worth the money!!
Ashley Weller: Clean. Poor facilities. Quiet.
mike hayward: One of the worse places I've stayed. Room was massively overpriced for a tiny box room which had 2 beds squashed in, advertised wifi but that wasn't working the entire stay. We wasnt given fresh bedding or towels all week and when we asked for a clean room all they gave us was one towel and some toilet paper, would not stay again the room should be worth £25 a night not £75
Coby Andrews: Rooms are clean and spacious. No noice leaking from other rooms. Great place to get a good night's sleep.
Akhil Bane: Stayed at the Portsmouth Inn for months as it was really peaceful and the staff was really nice and helpful.. would gladly stay again anytime
David Sayers: Basic prices, basic rooms. Homely place, no breakfast but 10 mintes walk from everywhere! Clean, cosy, just what we needed for a few days stay. Would we come back? Yes.
Patrick Touhy: Very cheap. You get what you pay for.
Noe Elisa: Awful
Jonathan Chadwick: Lovely homely hotel near the centre of Portsmouth.
Mo Man: Simple rooms at an affordable price... clean and comfortable, but relatively small - does exactly what it says on the tin - don't expect swish, but somewhere to put your head down for the night... they don't serve breakfast, but the pub "the Chambers" near by was great for that.Rooms: 3/5|Service: 2/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Sarah Bebb: Basic, clean friendly staff
Louise James: For a budget hotel.it was very clean.
