We founded WAX Fitness in late 2014 to provide personal training in Portsmouth and Hampshire. I wanted to move away from the common format of training people on the same gym equipment as always and provide a varied yet fun training experience both inside the gym and outdoors using new and varied equipment. This provides the best combination of training using well established traditional gym training such as bench presses or deadlifts to new and intense exercises such as tyre flipping or weighted plate drags.

WAX Fitness offers personal training to a very wide range of clients from those who are highly committed and regularly compete in competitions such as iron man and cross training events, to people that want to simply be fit and healthy and might enter a race such as the Great South Run. We also work with people who need to lose weight and mums who want to get back in shape after having a baby. Portsmouth Outdoor boot camp workouts are a good option for all fitness levels, beginner to advanced. Our coaches will help beginners and offer regressions, while fitter participants can try more advanced boot camp workouts. But, everyone needs to give their best; that is the only rule.

Our outdoor exercises are very time-efficient, as group workouts last only one hour. But, boot camp training is intensive; you will be able to reach all of your fitness goals by doing a few short workouts per week.

I’ve trained heavily in a variant of sports in the last 40 years. I’ve lifted heavy loads as a nurse and at one point in my life I was a Fitness Instructor where I completed a university sports injury course, which enabled me to oversee and deal with injuries in my own martial arts club.

Since training with Karl and FSC I am highly impressed by his knowledge, guidance and professionalism in his one to one training approach. Due to auto immune issues and rotator cuff injuries I had lost my love for training and more or less gave up on it. However, since working with FSC I am no longer in pain, I’m stronger and more flexible than I ever have been. I think I am fitter than I ever have been and I’m very excited about entering the CrossFit Open.

I have trained at various gyms & CrossFit boxes over the years but fortitude has been the best of the bunch. The coaches are always enthusiastic & thorough in their teaching & encouragement throughout each class. They are approachable & offer advice all the time whether it be fitness or nutrition. The equipment in the gym is in excellent condition with additional space for accessory work & a lounge & kitchen for chilling before/after class.

I have never been stronger & my engine is improving all the time. I have been using a bespoke programme for a few months now & I can really tell the difference. Couldn’t recommend it enough.

I first started training with FSC online during lockdown before joining them in person once they opened. It has been by far the best gym experience I’ve had. Their coaching expertise is superb; I have made so much progress across all aspects of my training but my favourite thing has to be the community Karl and Paul have built. I’ve made friends for life and I can’t thank the coaches enough for how much they’ve improved my confidence.

Fortitude is by far the best CrossFit box I’ve been to. I’ve been lucky enough to experience several around the world. The level of coaching is outstanding, the team are not only exceptionally qualified, they are also super supportive and welcoming. I was super anxious when I joined and lacking in confidence, the team have empowered me to grow both in and out of the gym.
