KRAV MAGA PLYMOUTH: what do users think?
sean clarke: Started 4 weeks ago and I love it, amazing…..
Aude Pérusseau-Lambert: Have a great time going to the classes. Brian is a fantastic instructor, pushing us to improve. In Plymouth, about half of the group are women! I have never felt intimidated to take part. Worth having a try ;)
Chris: Great instructor, great mix of people, exactly what I was looking for in the sessions.
Chris Wood: Great classes with a really welcoming bunch of people, and with great instruction. I'd really recommend coming along and giving it a go.
Pip: Brian is a great instructor. Since starting a few months ago I feel a lot safer walking around on my own. This is the best form of self defence I've ever found. I highly recommend Krav Maga with Brian to everyone
Marcus Setters: I am sure there is plenty of good insights to learn from Krav Maga (judging by the excellent reviews that I totally respect). Unfortunately I had a poor booking/customer service experience.I was looking to book for a first time session for Monday 29th August 2022. I was fully aware that this was a bank holiday (since this would be a day off work for me) but it was showing as a date of availability for a training session on the website. When I booked, it said the date was confirmed. Then a few minutes later, I got an email saying that the date had changed (now to one I was not available). Thinking this was a glitch, I rearranged for the date back for the 29th. The same thing happened twice more. Then, I got a call directly from the instructor and I found myself being reprimanded (like a child being told off) while being asked to stop rearranging the dates that are not available in a demanding way (this was also sent in a text). The instructor then explained that there would be no training on bank holiday and that I will have to arrange for another date.I do understand that bank holidays are for having time off. However, this should have been displayed on the booking website because it showed the 29th as available. If the instructor had been more polite about the situation and not demanding, then I would understand. As a result of this experience I was put off.
Maria Arghyrou: Learnt so much already in a few sessions, the group is very welcoming to all. There is a range of ages and abilities already attending.Brian is committed in teaching this realistic way to defend yourself, it will give a person the best chance for survival, is fun and keeps you fit too.
Danny Mac: Learning Krav Maga is giving me confidence in handling bad situations and is very rewarding mentally and physically. Everyone is very welcoming and make you feel part of a great Club. Of course, it is vital to have great training and our Instructor Brian is highly skilled and will push you above and beyond what you think you are capable of.
Molly Ubsdell: Positive:Professionalism,QualityFelt really welcome, even entering at a beginner level. Great fun, while also learning important skills.
Cat: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueMy Krav Maga lessons with Bri are excellent. Bri genuinely wants to give the best training for his students and goes the extra mile for them.
Daniel Lunn: Fantastic club and the instructor Bri is very knowledgeable and down to earth. Felt very welcome from the start as there is a great community feel.
Michael Sumner: Positive:ProfessionalismGreat experience and training! Being in the military previously it is really tough which is great! And very practical takeaways too! - Michael S
James Newton: Excellent training from an extremely skilled and professional instructor, with a great team ethic and a friendly welcoming environment. Would recommend to anybody at all levels of fitness.
Nicky Stokes: During lockdown, online training continued with a variety of striking and fitness sessions. Each session was delivered professionally and although tough at times was designed to test not only fitness and perseverance- a skill necessary to practise Krav Maga. Brian is a great instructor with a variety of knowledge both in combative skills and fitness training.
Witold Synowski: Great trainer and great team. Krav Maga is an amazing combat system . Highly recommended!!!Vito
Kate Charlick: Such an excellent club to be a part of. Superb instructor, and a great family spirit.
Dale Kendrick: I only started with this club 2 weeks ago, and was hesitant weather it would be for me or not, as I turned up on my tod without knowing anyone.Brian, Dave and the whole group are very welcoming and professional. The class is a balanced mix of skill sets and fitness, a few months here and SAS selection would be a walk in the park!!!!!
Agentc Syzygy: If you want to join a club that teaches you to control dangerous everyday situations, to fight and survive, look no further. You'll learn all sorts of useful techniques from the best instructor, the team is great, training is always challenging (no matter what level of fitness you are at) and it all comes with just the right amount of laugh and banter mixed in. Come and join us! Best decision you'll ever make :)
Jonny Walker: Experienced, intense but friendly instructor. Highly recommended for anyone looking to gain some serious self defence experience
Alan Andrews: Krav Maga is truly an excellent system of self defence and great way to keep fit.Plymouth is, truly an excellent club, with Brian and Dave both being amazing instructors. The training atmosphere is really friendly, fun and no egos. Really is a great bunch to train with.
Jim Petrie: Great Instructors and fantastic group of people. Very welcoming to someone new and didn't matter that I am not exactly an athlete! I was made to feel.like.a part of the club straight away. Would recommend this club to anybody and everybody who wants train hard and get fitter, stronger and doesn't want to be made to feel inadequate! Thanks Plymouth Krav Maga team.

Macmillan Martial Arts Academy: what do users think?
Mike Foster: I was privileged enough to have attended Danny’s recent seminar in Market Harborough - I learnt some quality techniques and thought Danny’s teaching style was relaxed and easy to understand. His Gracie Jiu Jitsu is obviously top class - well recommended. Respect 🥋- uss.
Andy Bull: Excellent instruction and tuition wish I'd started years ago
Adrian Barber: Learnt alot at the seminar
robin joseph: The only thing I’m not happy about is not joining sooner. The teaching is world-class and the attitude to training is exactly as it should be - open and friendly, respectful to everyone. It doesn’t matter if you’re a total novice or a top-level fighter, everybody will learn, grow and improve themselves from every class. Cannot recommend them highly enough, I feel very lucky to be able to train here.
david bryant: Wonderful warm welcome to my shy and anxious 9 year-old. He struggles physically, but the huge smile he gave me at the end of the taster session. Priceless.
William Nel-Barker: I've now been training at Macmillan Martial Arts Academy for just over 3 years, and I can say with certainty that signing up to my first class was one of the best decisions I've ever made.MacMillans is a professional, welcoming, clean martial arts school with a family atmosphere. The level of technical knowledge is unmatched by any academies in the area, and Professor Danny Macmillan Jr, who received his black belt from the legendary Royce Gracie, is one of the best jiu jitsu coaches in the world.I've also had the privilege of being involved in some of the kids classes, where I have witnessed first hand the confidence that children develop from the lessons, while in a safe and fun environment.I would strongly recommend joining this academy to anyone who is looking to learn self defense, join a family of students, develop the mental fortitude and confidence to improve every aspect of your life.
Andrew: Been training here for a few years, very welcoming, top class instructor, and always great atmosphere to train in
Scott Rigby: Fantastic place awesome teacher with friendly helpful students. I started 3 months ago and haven’t looked back
Team Sclounst: Would'nt go anywhere else! Staff are brilliant and the training is second to none!
Gavin Seymour: Great learning environment and teaching
Martyn Souch: Partially in reply to the review below. My son and daughter (4 & 7) have been attending Macmillan Martial Arts Academy for just over a year. They love it, and as a parent couldn't be happier with the classes which not only teach basic throws and positions; but also discipline, focus, and the value of perseverance and competition. They don't force you to buy their gi (only ask that it's white); offer free taster sessions where your children can wear their own clothes; the facility is fully matted with plenty of room; and the purple belt (Richy) that often takes the classes is genuinely excellent with the children. They have never cancelled a class since we have attended, and if training a 4 year old isn't catering for beginners, I'm not sure what is.If you are considering a jiu-jitsu/self defence class for your little one I HIGHLY recommend you take them along for a free taster session and see for yourself.
Angela Nicholls: My 9 and 11 year old both love the Ju jitsu classes and the teachers are amazing. I’ve done the womens 6 week self defense class as well, Can’t rate them highly enough.
Kathryn Breckell: Great staff who are really knowledgeable and approachable.
Kayleigh Arthurs: Amazing Academy. Our daughter loves attending classes and her confidence has increased significantly.
Billy: I found myself spiritually training at MMAA, the teaching level is world class, the facilities are clean and spacious, and the team are all out to help each other and grow together, highly recommend anybody interested in self defence to come and attend a trial class to witness the academies excellence for themselves.
Ty Hilton: Absolutely fantastic place. Self defence, self discipline & self care, perfect place to learn it all. Friendly environment with world class teaching.
Iwan Eifion Jones: Top gym led by a top coach 🥋
robin humphreys: If you’re looking for martial arts for adults or kids in Plymouth, look no further. Top quality facility, friendly and helpful staff and the head instructor is one of the top instructors in the country 👍
Keith Williams: Had an amazing welcom at this dojo from Danny and his team, and had an even better training session. Will definitely be going back soon.
Chris Jones: Amazing academy! Elite level coaching. Highly recommend 👌 👍
billy charles: Great coach, super friendly, highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn jujitsu

Flo Martial Arts: what do users think?
Marmalade Skanks: Flo is an excellent gym, top notch facilities with a friendly and welcoming team. Coaches are sound, there’s a decent range of sparring partners of different abilities, a nice big, good quality, mat and an overall good feel. Enjoyed the times I trained there, thanks for the rolls 🤙
Chris: Amazing facilities, the best coaches and great group of people to train with.Got my two boys signed up. Very positive
Elliot Grey: Very friendly, easy joining most fun I have had in ages 💪💪💪
Danny Saxby: What you'll notice first when walking in to Flo is how clean and tidy everything is - not always the case with other gyms. Being on time, being respectful, training light and focusing on technique; all this flows (pun intended) from the ethos of the folks in charge. They're not teaching you what to train, but how to train - a far more important lesson. Can't recommend it enough, especially for youngsters!
jon dailey: Amazing facility and great team. Be hard pushed to find better. Highly recommended
Adz Lison: Flo Martial Arts is the best Martial Arts facility in the South West. It expresses its premium set up with outstanding instructors. With its head coach Kenny Baker at the helm.If you or your children are looking for a place to train or start training. This is it.Five Stars *****
Kenneth Donnelly: Fantastic facility. Clean, friendly, welcoming and with no egos. Instruction is world class with an emphasis on safety. Great gym, staff and members make for a great experience. Strongly recommend joining.
Neo: A professional, friendly, and safe place to train. Clean and modern training facility that caters to everyone from children, to competitive fighters, to oldies like me who are just trying to stay physically and mentally healthy. Incremental exposure to BJJ training via the 101 class. Not just thrown in at the deep end. Knowledgeable instructors. A range of payment plans to suit personal circumstances. I train BJJ just twice a week and my past year at Flo has still been a very worthwhile investment.
Russ Conway: Positive:Professionalism,QualityI have been in hundreds of gyms over the years. Flo is without doubt one of the best there is. Great facility, open mats and equipment. However, what really makes it is the training ethos and attitude with no egos and plenty of world class instruction from top martial artists.. best there is.
Demon Hunter: Very good professional gym, has multiple paths that you can chose to train, very good coaches, everyone is very friendly, kind and considerate with the fact that some people might take longer to learn, they have good competition classes which can compete with everywhere, it is the cleanest gym I've ever been to, and they make all new people feel very welcome. I would 100% encourage anyone that wants to train to come here .
John Heath: Positive:ProfessionalismBeen a member of Flo for a while now. Great place to train. Friendly staff and members too. I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone wishing to get fit or try martial arts for the first time. Great set-up and value for money too.
Barnaby Gillett: One of the cleanest Gyms I been to great teachings and great facilities. Nice safe place for beginners to get involved
Ross Taylor: Extremely welcoming and without doubt the best facilities in the South West!! - not like some Martial Arts Gyms which can feel Cliquee
ben stewart: Hands down the best facilities for striking or ground work in Plymouth, maybe even the South West. Competitive training but accessible for at all ability levels. Scaled membership rates, dedicated seperate areas for striking and bjj, boxing ring AND cage, viewing area, large M&F changing rooms with showers. Quality coaches for bjj (2 black belts), judo, karate, kickboxing, boxing, wrestling and MMA. Also caters for kids and women only bjj classes. On top of that there's a strength and conditioning suite with cardio equipment, personal training, yoga classes and an on-site physio. It can't be beaten.
FERNANDA Agostini: Great facilities, bur rude unwelcoming staff let's it down. High membership prices too
Joe Vaisey: Good
Janners Mugs: Excellent martial arts centre for the whole family. Very clean, very friendly, very welcoming. Emphasis is on a safe family environment where looking after your training partner is engrained in the culture.
Laurie Weller: With some of the best facilities in the south west this is the premier location for mma practitioners of all levels. Good staff. Nice people .great coaching and outstanding facilities.
Lee Cannon: Very friendly place to go. You will find a new family hear. Lovely place to take the kids for children's classes. Somthing for all ages
