Randell Guitar Tuition & Repair: what do users think?

Rhodri Jones: even at higher speeds than the original track!! extremely pleased too with all the setup jobs and services he's done on my guitars throughout the years :

Mark: I took my new Vintage V100 Les Paul to Ian for a full set up to get my guitar feeling and playing the way I want it to and couldn't be happier with the results. Now with a lower action and levelled out frets the guitar is more comfortable and easier to play as well as sounding great. Thank you very much.

Hoyabembe Band Account: then Ian Randell is your man! I took my bass in to Ian this month as the action was slightly off, it was impossible to tune and it needed a bit of TLC after the abuse of gig life… Ian changed the strings for me, polished it up an absolute beaut and set the action spot on! All in 2 days ! My bass feels sooo nice to play now, looks good, smells good, tunes perfectly! Don’t worry if you’re not 100% sure on what work needs doing, you’re in safe hands with Ian, he’ll know straight away! I’ll be bringing my next one to you soon Ian, look out ! And thanks again 😁Michelle P

Kieran Tozer: If I have bought a new guitar the first thing I do is take it to Ian. He has done work on all of my guitars and I couldn’t recommend him enough! Always friendly and personable, if you need any work done to your guitars this is the place to go.

greg yates: Ian did an absolutely fantastic job on my Gibson SG. I was having problems with the the guitar constantly going out of tune as well as it needing work on the fret board and correcting the action. Within a few minutes he knew what needed to be done to get the guitar sounding how it should. I got the guitar back a few days later and it now plays better than it did when it was new. Great service with a lot of craft and care put in. I could not be happier!

Jack Moate: Fantastic service and super reliable. Your guitar will thank you

Ali -: Randall was very informative right off the bat and gave me much reassurance. I could tell right away he knew his stuff and receiving my guitar back after the set up only confirmed this. Not only did he fix it but he also made specific adjustments and even made my guitar look better than when I first bought it! Would 100% recommend.

Nick Jones: Ian is totally amazing the best guitar luthier I have used in my 35 year career his knowledge and enthusiasm is endless 10 out of 10 do yourself a favour and give your guitar a treat !!!!!!

Huw Pring: Went to Ian for the second time to fix a broken neck of one of my guitars. I need to keep them in their cases! He has done another great job. The break is cleanly fixed with a great spray job . Plays as well as it did before with no change of action . Last fix was over ten years ago and that guitar is still going strong, with no movement. Sure this new one will be the same. Fully recommended.

Esox84: An absolute wizard. Has taken my cheapest guitar and made it the one I pick up first. Brilliant service.

Jaimie Hemmings: Restored an old neglected guitar of mine to look brand new and so far plays amazing, did it super quick too.

Dylan Tucker: Took my guitar to get fixed today, he spent all day fixing it for me and it was very cheap. He was very friendly and easy to talk to. Will definitely be going to him again if I have any other issues.

Owain Canniff: Fantastic guitar teacher with a wide range of knowledge to teach. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to learn or advance their playing!

Tanaka: Helped me sort out a crackling issue with my acoustic guitar very quickly, giving plenty of tips on guitar maintenance to help me keep my guitar sounding great. All in all; very friendly and hospitable, and provides excellent, speedy service!

Malc Ryder: I contacted Ian Randell after seeing his web site which was located near me.I have just bought my first guitar after never even picking one up before and tried learning how to play it. However I noticed that the strings were very high and the pressure of the steel strings on my fingers were causing very painful calluses on top of my calluses.Ian pointed out the problem regarding the action and for a small price lowered the action and fitted new strings. I have received the guitar back and it is now so much easier to play.Ian is a very accommodating person who understood my need and carried out the work to a high quality.Due to Ian’s nature and his professionalism I have now booked lessons with him and am looking forward to my first next week.

Robin Cleave: Had my PRS serviced and set up and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Plays like a dream. Would recommend to anyone.

Martin Uglow: Since being taught by Ian to play guitar, I have always gone back to him for guitar servicing. His guitar servicing is professional and prompt. He always takes time to discuss any needs, to ascertain the precise nature of guitar remediation. He is inspirational in his love of various guitar playing styles and chatting to him, you can't fail to be engaged by his enthusiasm. I thoroughly recommend him, both as a guitar mechanic and tutor. Martin U, Saltash, Cornwall.

Oscar Whiteford: Positive:QualityWow! What a skilled human, he certainly knows his way around a guitar and will make any guitar sing!! Reasonably priced aswell x

Gary Hawkins BMus (Hons) DipABRSM MISM - Piano Teacher / Pianist: what do users think?

chocca logs: We came to Gary from a recommendation as my son’s piano teacher became unwell and could not teach anymore. My son had started his diploma and it was very difficult to find a teacher that was able to teach him, as I said through recommendation we found Gary, we did have to wait a few months for him as he is normally fully booked. My son had his first complimentary lesson and really enjoyed it. Gary is a fun teacher who makes the lesson fly by and you also get to hear fascinating stories from his time in music school. Gary does not expect you to practice for hours as he said it’s the quality of practice rather than the quantity which suited my teenage son to a tee. My son passed his diploma with a very high merit which he was exceptionally pleased about. I would recommend Gary as he has a lovely teaching style and if you find something difficult he can show you another way.

Steve Eds: Gary is a fantastic teacher, pianist and and an all round lovely person. Upbeat, happy and so enthusiastic. My son has been having lessons for around 9 months now and really looks forward to every lesson. Gary is very professional but makes lessons fun as well. Gary is very encouraging and adaptable. He has come up with some Fantastic ideas with my son to enable him to fit piano practice in with his busy school/homework and sports schedule. I would highly recommend Gary.

Anne Kalas: Gary teaches my two grand children. I do sit in on the lessons, which must be off putting for him, because l am a retired music teacher! He is patient, funny, always praising and positive. My two really enjoy their lessons and are making good propress. He is also a whizz at the tech side of things, which is ideal. He is skilled in all musical styles and I do not hesitate to recommend him. 🎶🎶

Ted Williams: Gary is a wonderful teacher! My daughter has been learning with Gary for the last 8 months, she enjoys her lessons and is making great progress!

Rose Bonner: I have been having lessons with Gary for about 9 months now and have thoroughly enjoyed my learning experience. As an adult who has completed grades in the past, Gary adapts his teaching and is really flexible around my varied work schedule. Highly recommend!

Casey Davey: Gary is teaching me piano and I am really pleased with the sessions he explains everything really well and he always allows me time and listens to me I have learnt so much

Jacek Garbacz: amazing piano teacher. has been teaching my son for last 6 months. very good approach to children and flexible with program.

Rebecca: I highly recommend Gary as a piano teacher. Very professional, quick to respond, always punctual and fully devoted to his students. His lessons were the ultimate highlight of my week and something I always looked forward to. I loved his open and friendly nature, as well as him being full of energy and always smiling. He was great at explaining and I found he broke things down really well to my level of understanding. Gary's passion for music made me come away from each lesson feeling really enthused, inspired. I loved that it was so easy to talk to him and ask him all my questions, doubts, etc. He was always there to help, support, advise and encourage. I have learnt so much from Gary and honestly can't recommend him highly enough. ♪♫♪♫

Anna Rutherford: Gary is truly amazing! He inspires my daughter each & every week. He even makes what should be the “boring bits” so much fun that she is progressing quickly. I can’t recommend him highly enough. I might even take it up!

oopse100: Positive:Communication,ProfessionalismBoth of my children have been with Gary for awhile now. Really happy with the lessons. 😊

Paul Highton: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityI have taken piano lessons with Gary for the past year and found him to be both flexible in his teaching approach and very understanding. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to any of my family or friends that wanted to learn.

Clara McNeill: I have recently returned to piano after a few years, Gary could not have been more helpful or patient. I feel so much for confident playing, and have really enjoyed getting back to 'pick-up and play' music as well as spending more time to more complex pieces.Even over Zoom Gary can point out areas to improve and I've really enjoyed adding more musicality to my favourite works.

J Ashton: Gary is a fantastic piano teacher. I found out about the lessons through FB. My daughter has been doing piano lessons ever since. My decision to chose him over other piano teachers was based on many principles.1. He’s very professional- The lessons are always on time and he is courteous.2. He speaks my child’s language- Gary speaks in a way that my daughter understands. No matter how complex the music piece seems, somehow he patiently breaks it down to her.3. He’s an enthusiastic and extremely experience musician/pianist- There are times he plays an additional piece of music for us. This has helped my daughter’s imagination as she often tries to freestyle to create her own masterpiece when we are at home.4. Although he pushes her to do well, he also understands when she’s not up to it. He’ll therefore find a diversion that would get her confidence back up again.5. The classes are fun. My daughter gets bored very quickly but somehow she manages to stay focus and happy throughout her lessons.6. He assisted in not only recommending the piano for purchase but also was kind enough to help us set it up. This shows a lot about his character and the efforts he’s willing to put in for his students learning.I recommend Gary for piano lessons for any age. He’s a wonderful person and his passion for music shines through each music session.

Charlotte Smith: I started my piano lessons with Gary in September last year as a complete beginner. I cannot recommend Gary enough, he is a fantastic teacher, who always puts a smile on my face. 4 months down the line and I cannot believe how much I have learnt! I have constant support and encouragement whether that is through face to face or virtual lessons. The lessons are always fun and engaging, I am able to choose what area of music I would like to learn whilst still being taught the technical elements. Thanks Gary!

Jason Bennett: I have been having lessons for approximately 6 months with Gary. I Have found him an extremely enthusiastic and professional teacher. He focuses on the actual needs of the student and, adapts his lessons to the individuals aspirations. He combines both a professional attitude and a friendly manner. He is extremely patient and an outstanding teacher. I would recommend Gary to anyone who wishes to play the piano, whether just for fun or to follow a more academic route. I continually contact Gary between lessons and he always promptly replies with advice and strategies. He is happy to receive videos of my progress and always replies with advice. I would not hesitate to recommend Gary to anyone. With the strange year that we all have experienced. Now is the time to start something new that perhaps lots of us would like to do but never get around to it. Give Gary a call.

selina liu: Positive:ProfessionalismGray taught my daughter Ellie the piano for nearly 3 months. He taught Ellie how to play and helped her find enough confidence. Thank you for giving my daughter a magical world. Ellie practices every day. Her favorite is Piano lessons every Monday. Thank you very much, you are the best.

Jack Harrington: Gary is a wonderful piano teacher and a talented pianist. I begun lessons as an adult with zero experience, but I've quickly made progress because of Gary's expertise. Gary is really friendly and patient, I always look forward to the lessons. I really felt like he took the time to understand what kind of music I wanted to play and identified my weaknesses and helped me overcome them. Really friendly guy, would recommend to everyone.

Alexander Ninnim: As a complete beginner I have been learning with Gary since March of this year. His approach is really friendly and I feel as if I have already learnt so much.Gary is really adaptable and personalises what I want to learn / play rather than to just teaching to some random qualification that as an amateur I would never use. I also never feel pressured if I am struggling with a piece or have not had enough time to practice in between our sessions. It is also great to have a teach who is extremely enthusiastic about piano in general and being able to recommend lots of ideas for my home piano setup.I would recommend Gary to anyone thinking about leaning the Piano or developing their skills.

SJ Performing Arts Plymouth: Gary has been teaching my 14 year old son music theory for a while now and i can honestly say my son absolutely loves his lessons, i highly recommend Gary

Rhythm Section Drum Tuition: what do users think?

tgc tgc: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value

Sarah Hunt: . His positive attitude is infectious

William Bennett: In the 8 years he taught me, Tim inspired an obsession with drums and music that led me to pursue music as a career. He explains technique clearly and has an amazing sense of groove, guiding me from Grade 3 to a Level 6 Diploma in Drum Kit Performance. He is ambitious for his students and knows how to reach their potential. A lovely guy that I can’t recommend enough for drummers at any level!

Stuart Watson: Tim is a great teacher with a really relaxed and friendly approach. He offers lots of different ideas and techniques to help you improve, as well as possessing an amazing and varied knowledge of music to help with further listening. Tim continued to teach in difficult circumstances through the lockdown period through Zoom lessons which allowed me to to continue to learn and play. It’s been a great year and a half working through some of the drum grades- thanks Tim!!

Elizabeth Webb: Iv been learning from Tim for just over a year. He is very patient which as an older learner, who is stuck in their ways, with little free time to practise, is a feat.I enjoy learning the drums as a therapeutic hobby, and Tim is a wonderful teacher.

MrRain8ow: My son has been taught by Tim for just over a year now and has developed massively, not just in his drumming ability, but also in confidence and mood, as he loves to be able to learn to play the songs and genre of music he likes. He was very pleased that Tim continued with online lessons throughout lockdown, and even sat his first drum exam during this time, achieving a merit, and is now well progressed in working towards the next level. Very highly recommended.

Jo: Tim has been teaching my son for about 12 months. My son absolutely loves his lessons....Tim exudes enthusiasm and encouragement. We were personally recommended to use Tim to teach my son. He is making great progress and is so enjoying drumming, largely due to Tim's teaching. When seeking to purchase some drumming equipment Tim went above and beyond in offering advice and guidance, which was greatly appreciated.

Sir Fix-a-lock: I have used Tim as my tutor now for a few years. I liked him instantly as he taught me the way I wanted to be taught and not the other way round. This has led me to advance in my skills whilst totally enjoying each session. Not only has he taught me to play but also advise me on my kit, ancillaries and help set up all the new bits I keep buying. I've also watched Tim at a few of his gigs and he can walk-the-walk for sure. If you want to progress at playing drums with total ease then Tim is definitely the man you should be calling.

Catherine Sorensen: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityTim is an excellent teacher! Professional, reliable, patient ... and good fun! Extremely impressed with his lessons and how he adapted immediately to Zoom lessons. The lessons were a ‘lock-down life line’ 😊

Oliver Smith: Impossible to fault Tim - My son has maintained his interest in the drums and made great progress - even over lock-down and teaching over Zoom due entirely to Tim's friendly approach, encouragement and enthusiasm.
