Tom Rowe: Have dealt with AVS over the years and found them very good. However, ordered some trellis, fencePosts, postfix and a couple of fence caps for delivery on the 19th June.(SDN-0520111). Late on thatWe checked it was being delivered. We were told it had not been put on the lorry. They said they would ask the delivery driver nicely if he would deliver it late that day or it would be the following Monday.He did deliver the materials except the two fence caps. He stated they would be with us Monday. Nothing happened. Rang this Monday said they would drop them off at 5.30pm as one of them lived in Werrington. Nothing happened. Rang the next day said they would drop them off, Nothing happened.Rang today the 1st of July stated that chap who was going to drop them off has left. Someone would drop them off at about 6pm leaving them by the back door. Nothing has happened. It is only two caps but it is the principle. Hope someone from AVS Management is reading this but doubt it. Not very efficient and very dissatisfied. Lucky to get one star

Thomas Buchan: I ordered sharp sand on the 4th May and was informed of the 10-15 day delay, which passed and no delivery. I contacted them through email asking where my order is and was responded promptly the next day that they had rescheduled delivery for the 28th May, 9 days after the original date. The 28th passed and still no delivery and I emailed to no response and called which was resolved into a full refund.The money I paid left my account within a few days of the original order, which seems unacceptable given known troubles due to the Covid-19 pandemic and they may be facing staff and stock shortage, however that is inexcusable for the service I have received. No matter the shortage of staff, it should not take over a month and if they do not have any in stock, they should not try and sell it like it is and should inform the customer that it is out of stock to let them decide what they would like to do.

Shane Redman: If I could could give less than a 1 star rating I would.We ordered paint from them a month ago and we expected a long delivery time due to cover-19 but we were given a delivery date of the 8th May. This date came and went with no delivery and no further contact to let us know why there was no delivery. We emailed in to see what had happened and received a reply from a Greg Bailey (Regional Sales Manager North) who told us the delivery would be made the next day (Tuesday 12th May). Again the date came and passed with no delivery or contact.We have since emailed and phoned repeatedly, leaving voicemails on the unanswered phones, with no reply from anyone. We will be seeking a refund but suspect this business is unlikely to handle that well. It feels much like a scam. First time we used this company and certainly the last. Only positive is we can now ensure no-one we know gives them the opportunity to provide such poor service to them.

shirley knights: We had a resin driveway installed on 11/12/2018, with a 10 year guarantee, costing over £3500.In around early 2021 a patch at the front of the driveway eroded and the stone spilled out onto the pavement. We sent an email to Shaun on 26/03/21 about the issue. He replied to advise that someone would visit to assess. He asked if there had been diesel spilt on this area, or we had been ‘dry steering’ our car on it, to which the answer was no in both cases.We didn’t hear anything for a while and made numerous phone calls leaving messages.On 16/11/21 we sent another email to note the issue and the lack of response. Shaun replied, noting no record of the contact and indicating he would arrange for someone to visit and assess.On 30/11/21 he emailed to say that poor weather prevented any work and he would be in touch.We emailed again on 29/03/22 to query progress and again on 13/04/22, with no reply.We made phone calls leaving messages with no response, so emailed again on 31/10/22.Ashley from Peterborough Improvements got in touch to note Shaun’s illness.She emailed on 01/11/22 to note she would get someone to visit to assess.On 07/11/22 we emailed again to query progress and have not had a reply.We made numerous phone calls throughout these times, usually ending leaving a message with an admin person who would pass the message on, or on an answer machine.We even called at the office last week but no one was there, stuff was dumped inside, and it doesn’t look like it’s being used as an office anymore.Usually we try to resolve matters rather than resorting to a critical review but our frustration with the situation has provoked us to this.The driveway installation seemed good quality and the information that the company sent at the begin seemed to promise this. The 10 year guarantee would also seem to suggest the company’s confidence in its product. But if you don’t want to provide a service to back up your guarantee, then it seems to be a very good way for a company to dodge its responsibility by just not being available or failing to respond. Jeff poe: Had a drive way gate installed in April after several week delay, which was ok and communication was good. In August sent emails to the admin and Sean Festherstone, managing director, as it was pulling away from the house and other issues, never heard back. Contacted them again in October via email and calling and haven’t heard anything. All I was asking was someone to come around have a look and secure and fix it but no response. Very disappointed as they had good reviews and was hoping to use them for other jobs we needed doing.Edit to response: the pictures asked for were sent on 2.11.22 as requested, followed up with an email on 15.11.22 with the pictures and further followed up with a phone call on the 31.11.22.My request started back at in August, whilst I’m sorry to hear about Shaun, I’m not aware the company has closed as I’ve contacted the admin by phone and email several times since August.I was told back on 2.11.22 via email that you were going to send someone around (which is signed as Shaun) but there has been no further response or follow up despite me chasing this. The only real follow up was the response to this review on 4.12.22. So other than Shaun I have no named person to deal with.Whilst I will agree about woods movement, the gate was only installed for 4 months when I first contacted you and would have been helpful to send someone around back in August when I first raised this.It’s more than dropped, the post has pulled away from the house and isn’t secure as I described in the email I sent.31.12.22 - still no updates or further communication from Peterborough Improvements

Simon Johnson: We have just had our garage converted by the guys and they have been brilliant.Rather than waiting months for a start date they managed to start the work within a few weeks and everything was done in stages over a number of weeks - stud work, insulation, plastering, Bi-Folds etc.Jimmy and the guys were very polite with a good sense of humour and the work completed is to a very high standard.The end result is a lovely warm office that is a joy to work from.Would most certainly recommend Peterborough Improvements for any garage conversion work.Service:General construction

Susan Bly: I am very disappointed with Peterborough Improvements. A good and reputable company is one that puts things right in the event their work is not up to their normal standard. I have repeatedly emailed and left messages with customer services asking for our resin bound driveway to be repaired but it appears that my requests are now being ignored. Therefore, I am left to either put up with a driveway for which I paid over £4k which is crumbling in some areas, to assess the possibility of legal action or to pay another reputable company to make the repair. Two of the installation team did come to look at the problem about a year ago and admitted the crumbling should not be happening but it appears the company are unwilling to rectify the issue.So, having received an immediate google response here from Peterborough Improvements, I responded by email with my thanks for the offer of a repair and details of when it would be convenient for us. Quite a while later two of the installers came unannounced to our property and spoke to my husband who understood Shaun would be in touch further. However, we have received no further contact. Shaun has previously suggested the lack of communication is due to internet issues but I have repeatedly requested communication by telephone which the company has not made.I have always been polite and civil with this company, simply asking for their help. I emailed on completion of our driveway to thank them and was asked to write a google review which I did not do at the time as I forgot I had log in details. Thankfully, I did not as my review would have been rather different then to what it is now! I have not been able to see the guarantee to which Shaun refers. The possibility of damage caused by dry steering was mentioned by Shaun but in my recollection only after the installation. We would have been concerned by that as we have an extremely short driveway and it can be difficult to avoid dry steering.So, following our experience it appears wise to avoid this company unless you have thousands of pounds to waste on a driveway that is unfit for purpose and for which the company is unwilling to discuss any remedial action.SO TO COMPLETE THIS REVIEW - At long last our driveway was repaired yesterday, free of charge. The men who came appeared to do as good a repair as is possible and were extremely polite and helpful. It is of course impossible for me to say whether the repair will stay good as due to our position dry steering cannot always be avoided. Shaun informed me that he/his company have sent many emails to us in reply to my contacts by telephone to customer services and email and he suggested that the problem lies with our internet provider as we have not received most of them. Surely with that knowledge the most productive and reliable solution would have been to make a telephone call to us as I often requested.Service:Driveway replacement

I initially hired another company to do a garage conversion for me which I waited over 4 months for them to start but even after giving them a further 4 weeks passed their supposed start date, nothing had been done. When I approached Peterborough Improvments, Shaun came round within a couple of days and started work within 2 weeks of paying the deposit. Graeme Terelinck: Shaun, Darren and the team did an outstanding job of installing our resin driveway. They explained every aspect of the job which left NO nasty surprises. They even let me improve on their service by installing a 4 metre compass which I had built and shaped. Although we had to wait a while for the actual resin due to supply issues that were out of Shaun’s control, he kept us up to date the best he could and did all the edging, under base, manhole covers and prep work early on. We are more than happy with the final result and wouldn’t need to recommend them as their work speaks highly for itself👍🏻. Our driveway is the talking point of all our neighbours
