Great Northern Hotel: what do users think?
Ian Gregory: Be alright if they didn't let asylum seekers take over it. I won't be returning if it opens.Rooms: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Location: 1/5 …More
DS: Asylum Seekers in this hotel wouldn't stay
Hannah Daly: Wouldn't give them a 1 starRooms: 1/5|Service: 2/5|Location: 1/5 …More
Kitty Phoenix: Avoid like the plague, like so many UK hotels recently, it seems to have lost its way.Rooms: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Location: 1/5 …More
The Master: This hotel, like many “Best Westerns” is an absolute disgrace. Run down, lack of staff and general sense of grot. Avoid at all costs, although you won’t be able to stay here any time soon as it’s yet another from the chain being used by Serco..Be careful if using the nearby Waitrose, the current residents of this hotel have decided that’s also free to them!
Lisa Bland: Lovely hotel close to amenities, only let down was too many stairs
Ward Simpson: Tv didn’t work in the room. They said they would fix it so I went out to meet friends. When I came back mid evening it still didn’t work. I was given a different room. Guess what? The tv didn’t work!! I was told to like it or lump it. Delightful??!! I lumped it.Rooms: 3/5|Service: 1/5|Location: 3/5 …More
claire reader: Great location right near train station and stopsRooms: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Elaine Grogan: DO NOT VISIT THIS HOTEL. The corridors smell of old cigarette smoke and rooms are grubby but that's not the worst. Firstly the car park is ticketed in and out. There is no daily rate for guests so, although the rate for 24hrs is £15 for Mon- Fri and £5 for Sat - Sun, you pay every time you go out so you end up paying much more. We paid £5 for overnight then £1 an hour when we came back in the afternoon then overnight on Sun -Mon we got charged £17. Again, that's not the worst. On arrival, we were told breakfast was from 8am till 10am. On Saturday, we went down and were treated to the most awful, overcooked, dried up full English we have ever encountered. It looked and tasted like it had been cooked the night before and left in an oven. On Sunday, we came down to be told they'd run out of milk so only black tea and coffee was available and cereal would have to be dry. There is a Waitrose 30 seconds walk away from the hotel! I tried waffles that day- they were sugar waffles from a packet. On Monday, we went down at 9.10am to find the place closed. I asked about breakfast and was told it was 7am till 9am on weekdays. When I said we weren't told that, the receptionist said sorry, you should have been. No offer to get us so much as a bowl of cereal. I didn't argue about it because the breakfasts we'd already had weren't worth the effort. This hotel makes Fawlty Towers look 5 star- at least it was clean! This hotel could be so much more with a central location right next to shops and the train station, but lazy disinterested staff and shambolic mismanagement make it an expensive joke of an establishment. We used Tesco Clubcard points to pay for the hotel so didn't pay any physical money - even then, we were overcharged. This hotel doesn't deserve even one star. There really should be a zero star option.
Peter Carpenter: Great location just outside of the station.Service: 3/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Veronica B: Old, dusty uncomfortable room. Dark and cold. Tired.Staff however were lovely and worked hard to look after the group I was with.Rooms: 1/5|Service: 3/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Colin Astley: Room upgradeRooms: 4/5|Service: 1/5|Location: 3/5 …More
Gillian: The rooms are rather spacious for king size room. It's fairly handy being right across the rd from the train station and also a 2 second walk to Waitrose. 5 minute walk to town centre, which is good. Also next door us the police station.Safety: The stair railing is weak at the bottom of the stairs case, no staff actually mentioned it but it could cause an accident !Noteworthy details: The main entrance is quite cramped with fairly quick revolving doors...be careful !
Maria Leel: I'd love to give this hotel a better review. Sadly I had two badly disturbed nights. The first due to a drunken argument outside my window and the second due to a couple very publicly splitting up at 2am in the corridor outside my room. The key cards sporadically stop working which locked me out of my room twice and the actual hotel once. Also, the bathroom sink blocked on my final morning. However, the staff are lovely and the hotel itself is retains its historic railway charm.
Kimberley: They are so understaffed it's ridiculous, one staff memeber for bookong, working the bar etc, our room wasn't set up and they hadn't put the travel cot up for our toddler and got told they wouldn't be able to put one up till 10pm it wasn't put up till half 10 we travelled two hours to get here and he wanted to sleep. The breakfast was good but a lot of it wasn't available no waffles not vegetarian Sausages for the veggie breakfast. The light in the bathroom was hanging off the beds were extremely uncomfortable. I definitely won't be staying again. The room was pretty but so many faults for the rest of the hotel.
JDM chaz: If I could give this place a negative zero rating I would, absolutely disgraceful place, keep your money and spend it at the local Travelodge or Premier Inn instead, that would feel like the Ritz compared to this place. I paid good money for a room for the night which was dirty and rundown and not worth the £80ish pounds paid, long wait at breakfast for food and then the bread was stale for my apparently freshly made sandwich, this was run by a man who I then discovered was the manager.Thankfully for us there were good food places to eat across the road, so for lunch and evening meals we chose to eat at the city centre. The car park and grounds are absolutely full of rats, they are not at all scared of humans and will just come right up to you. These are not small rats either! At night it is like being in a horror film they are absolutely everywhere outside the hotel in the grounds and car parks and right outside the doors. The outside area is very unkempt and due to being dirty with glasses and old food left out, is even more an attraction for the homeless and the rats. There seems to be very poor management here, I think this once beautiful hotel could do with a whole new refresh of management and staff. Embarassment to the Best Western brand.

Simon: Well maintained hotel with nice spa facilities and breakfast buffet for a good price.Rooms: Cheapest of the rooms comes with TV and kettle, hair dryer and iron. Bathroom while small has a very strong shower which I liked. Large window helps it feel it had greater space.Food & drinks: A buffet style breakfast was on offer which has the usual bread/toast bacon egg sausage beans and hash browns for the hot meal side of things, whilst there was also fruit slices, cereal and yogurt with cold drinks on tap. As the food is layed out for lengthy amounts of time it won't beat a freshly cooked meal but that isn't the point as it's a quick and easy breakfast and it wasn't at all busy in the morning.

Sara: Nice hotel. Great restaurant.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Peter Lee: Got to stay here for a night why on business so only a one night stayReception/ WelcomeI arrived late into the evening and when getting to the hotel I got warm welcome from a women on reception (sorry can’t remember her name) and was much needed as I had a rough travel so that friendly warm welcome made my day. Also from checking out the reception team was so friendly.RoomThe room was towards the back of the hotel and the corridors seem long but I promise they are not I found me room and was surprised on the size. As it was nice a big.The bed was comfortable and overall the room served its need for the few hours I was there. A massive 10/10 for the housekeeping team the room was spotless and when walking down the corridor in the morning I got a morning welcome from them loved this.Food and BeverageI had dinner in the restaurant and it was tasty and came out hot and delicious. For the prices they are reasonable and where the hotel is you can’t really pop out anywhere else so having this and the vast selection was perfect.I also had breakfast in the morning and this was also good and tasty set me up for my long day ahead.OverallA great stay and would stay again. The hotel is a short drive from the station and there is taxis outside it cost me around £13 but that’s expected. This is a great hotel to stay in when visiting Peterborough so highly recommend it

jamieleewilkins: Even though the rooms were very similar to other hotel room layout this was by far the cleanest and in the best condition that I have stayed in for a long time. the staff in arrival and in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful.with free on site parking and free access to WiFi it is definitely a hotel I will stay at again. Just on a side note as I was travelling alone for work, i brought my gaming console and had no problem connecting to the WiFi and the large TV in the room.Rooms: very clean and tidy and in great conditionFood & drinks: the soup was very nice but unfortunately as I don't like pepper there was too much pepper in it for me and it over powered the flavour, my chicken burger and fries was also very nice. and there was a great selection for breakfast in the morning.
Robert Bedford: Good hotel just off the A1 . Good service. friendly staff.Good food . Good for business conference meetings.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 4/5 …More

David Morris: We have stayed in this hotel a few times and we like it. Good location, lots of parking, clean and tidy, decent breakfast and evening meals.Plus points are the friendly reception staff who are welcoming and have a good sense of humour. Charlie and Julia deserve a special mention.Negative marks for the bar though. On every visit the bar is slow. It shouldn't take 20 minutes to serve a large white wine because you can't find a glass. It's also nice if you order a tinned or bottled beer to have it poured for you, not put on the counter to pour yourself, especially at hotel prices. We have mentioned bar problems previously but nothings changed.Overall good, but please improve improve the bar staff service and quality.
Suzette Farrelly: Clean, friendly, and good service. Central for the city near to a beautiful park
Ansir Abbas: Good
Chris Hodgkin: We only popped in for breakfast, which was amazingHotel highlights Great value …More
Mark Russell: Very impressed with the set up here. I was training for two days so stayed here for the night as well. Reception were very professional on arrival. The team kept all the food and drink coming all day during the training. The room was very comfortable and quiet which meant I got a good nights sleep.Very excellent experience I will be back when in the area again.
Phillip Topping: Well what can I say other than FANTASTIC, from check in to check out the service from all of the staff at the hotel was faultless. We were hosting a Planner event at the hotel and nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they catered to our every need, even the maintenance guy provided me with some screws I'd left at home. The Buckingham suite was great for the event with everything (except a PA system) you could need and the staff were always on hand to help.My partner and I had a lovely spacious family room that was clean and comfy and the robes and slippers were a nice touch andcame in handy for the evening 🤣.The hotel breakfast was plentiful and there was something for everyone and they had several milk alternatives which was great, especially for my partner who is lactose intolerant, I really enjoyed the smoothies and pancake machine and haven't seen these at hotel before.Special mention to Lilley on reception who seemed to be there pretty much 24/7, she was always smiling, welcoming and happy to help and is a credit to the hotel.
MICHAELA Rudd: Overall enjoyed our stay, but we had our breakfast delib9to our room and it was coldRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great value …More

Teige Osborne: Great stay at the Park Inn Raddisson, Peterborough Hotel. Comfy bed and clean room, all staff friendly and approachable, the restaurant onsite has something to suit most tastes. All this is good but what really impressed me was the Manager. Long story short I was rushing for a train and couldn't get a taxi, she said no worries I will take you! she got a colleague to cover reception and dropped me to the train station herself, talk about going over and beyond. Excellent service!
Marc Perris: The conference rooms was clean, tidy and the tea and coffee was well stocked and dinner was very nice and friendly staff too.Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
ANN MCKELVEY: Breakfast not of any decent level of quality.. luke warm once the 'hot' breakfast arrived.Very slow service.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 1/5|Location: 3/5 …More
Stewart Waugh: A business meeting review, didn’t stay over. This area is convenient for larger work gatherings. We met this week in one of the meeting rooms and we’re well looked after. The catering was all good quality whether breakfast or lunch options. The room was light and easy to see the screens etc.
Tori Sykes: Stayed here twice the first time was good the second was bad, second stay had a fire, got woken up at 12am because there was a small fire, staff was amazing at there job under pressure. Didn’t sleep well and no discount to anyone that paid for a full night sleep which was ruined, but everyone was staffRooms: 3/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Jackie Stevens: Good service. A good selection of choice at breakfast. Cooked breakfast was a bit disappointing.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Amelia Price: my favorite hotel is only here from time to time
Charlotte Tomlin: Great location, 10 mins walk to the station or middle of the city.Rooms were clean and comfy. Shower needs a bit of TLC as the handle to switch it off is very loose. Breakfast....wasn't worth the money and I'm really disappointed. Everything was either over cooked or looked too runny so that really put us off.I would stay here again but definitely not have the breakfast in the morning.
Luke Drewer: I was sitting into the lounge with a superior hang over, getting far too old to be challenging an ex marine to a vodka drink off when I couldn't but over hear the conversation next too me. The lady from the hotel was comforting a guest who was clearly going through a distressing time and had obviously had to deal with some things that no child or young adult should have to deal with or experience. Anyway, the member of staff and the stranger who clearly felt the compassion to help made me feel like these are the people we need in this world, kind and compassionate and she really was a credit to the hotel with how she handled the situation. Plus we were late for breakfast but the staff still made sure we had something to eat, which frankly I needed! Rooms were really nice and staff were so nice, I would stay here anytime I come up to Peterborough. Thank you.
Mo G: Good rooms, quality breakfast and great service from the staff. Hotel is also very clean
Andy Parsons: Stayed here for one night why attending Peterborough Cathedral. Friendy staff on arrival even meal plenty of it.This was I first time at staying a park Inn group Hotel.Rooms: Very nice spaceshus room comfortable bedNearby activities: Came and attended the advent service at Peterborough Cathedral.
