Located directly opposite the stunning Theatre Royal, Josephine’s is a delightfully intimate and elegant restaurant. We open from 9am* and serve breakfast, with our Eggs Benedict and Full English Breakfasts setting the highest standards. All enjoyed with a choice of 35 finest loose leaf teas (we also do Nespresso coffee)

Lunch and Brunch through to 5pm (8pm some nights) take in everything from traditional dishes such as Steak & Ale Pie, Caesar Salad, Beef Bourguignon and of course our legendary Afternoon Tea.

Although we make a lot of things ourselves, we have no problem buying in the best of the best. From Wiltshire ham produced by suppliers to the Royal Family, Dukes Hill, to award winning products from Owen Taylor. Pies made by a small independent family producer and of course our own dishes made on our premises. Josephine’s is about the finest food, traditional dishes and proper sized portions.

Head on. It’s as simple as that. Being independent we can adapt and make changes quickly. So we’ve notice a huge drop in morning footfall and currently open slightly later during the week (see current opening times). However, we’ve also noticed people still come out later and want good quality places to eat, so we’re now staying open until up to 8pm Saturdays and 15 mins before any shows at Theatre Royal or Concert Hall (depending on shows/bookings).

Because energy is such a huge cost burden we do not open until slightly later – currently 11am but we are ready to open at 10am when conditions improve. There’s just no point lighting up an empty street!
