This beautiful garden at Coton Manor occupies a hillside position extending down from the 17th century manor house constructed of mellow Northamptonshire stone. The 10 acre garden has luxuriant borders that will delight the plant enthusiast while everyone will enjoy the garden’s charm and special atmosphere, with colour and interest throughout the seasons. Beyond the garden is a magical five acre bluebell wood and a wildflower meadow.

The Stableyard Cafe serves homemade lunches and teas when the garden is open. The extensive nursery has over a thousand varieties of plants, many of which are unusual and are propagated from the garden.

4worldlovers: Cottesbrooke Hall and Gardens, situated in Northamptonshire, boasts award-winning gardens, and the internationally renowned Woolavington Collection of sporting art, along with fine furniture and porcelain. It remains the beautiful home of the Macdonald-Buchanan family.

The house was built for Sir John Langham, between 1702 and 1712, in the Queen Anne style by Francis Smith of Warwick. Featuring beautiful rose-coloured brickwork, it shines like a jewel amongst its stunning backdrop of parkland, lakes, vistas, bridges and ha-has.

Our gardens, former winners of the coveted Christies and Historic Houses Association “Garden of the Year Award”, are a constant source of innovation and development – from the formal gardens that surround the Hall and to the Wild Garden, which flanks a meandering stream where acers, spring bulbs and gunneras create a romantic and tranquil air.

The estate, which has the village of Cottesbrooke at its heart, is a traditional agricultural estate with wheat and barley as the main crops, but is placing increased emphasis on environmental stewardship and conservation. Part of the arable acreage is dedicated to the provision of habitat for wildlife, including 120 kilometres of hedgerows, 35 hectares of wild bird seed for the winter feeding of farmland birds, and 26 hectares of pollen and nectar for butterflies, bees and other pollinators. It also has an exciting, ongoing tree planting programme across its many small woods.
