There are some great healthy eating choices as well as traditional meals. They cater for vegetarians as well as meat eaters. My cousin Val and her Mum used to come here & Val introduced me to the delights of Bartella's! The staff are really friendly & helpful & will look after you!

Jennifer Tasker: The staff were welcoming, polite and catered for multiple allergies, which meant everyone in my family could have a drink and cake. Zoe Dale: This is a special and beautiful little gem of a place but more so for the atmosphere and surroundings that are unique and endearing and not so much for the food (lunches) better as a tea and cake experience than substantial food (especially Jacket potatoes) quite a waste really tiny potato just done in the microwave. It's a bit pot luck if they are open so can't really plan easily so if planning to meet up with friends I always bear in mind that there's always the chance that you they haven't managed to open or closed early.

Pete Ne: Took my daughter for her birthday for a nice lunch as read the positive reviews. We were told the fish and chicken strips not available (no reason) so we went the chicken cesar sandwich and the club....both came with single slice of processed chicken a piece of lettuce and a couple of crisps. Service was miserable and the food was really poor. Very disappointing and NOT what we were expecting or indeed hoping for. Felt like i had let my daughter down...thanks The Eccentric Englishmen...i can see why you call yourself eccentric...processed chicken!!!
Matt Smith: We entered into this Alice in Wonderland grotto as it looked so enticing from outside, and it didnt disappoint inside, all manner of interesting memorabilia, trinkets and excerpts from the book on pictures end even chair covers!Very warm welcome by the owner(?) and we were seated immediately although the table hadnt been cleared from the previous customers....it was done fairly quickly.From then on, the service was not as good.We ordered a pot of tea for 2, seeing all sorts of wonderful teapots on the other tables, a posh fish finger sandwich and a bacon, brie and cranberry panini, both these came with crisps and salad.The tea arrived soon, first big problem, the pictured tea pot is impossible to pour without filling the saucer and table with tea too. Luckily, we had a box of tissues so mopped up as the staff were busy with themselves. Pouring the tea for a 2nd cup involved another tissue to catch the errant tea....the spout of the pot really does not lend itself for practical use.The food on arrival was very tasty, well presented and the fish finger sandwich was excellent. Unfortunately, no cutlery or napkin was provided..so it was fingers only and another tissue from our box. The waitress didnt return to the table until the very end.When we asked for the bill, it was brought over swiftly, amount spoken and card reader presented, I thought perhaps the waitress was playing the part of the Queen, however, as she didnt say anything else, not even "off with their heads", perhaps she was just having an off day, certainly not buying into the fun concept of the cafe bar. As we left, we turned to say goodbye, ignored again by our waitress, luckily, the young lady behind the bar gave a pleasant smile and wished us goodbye.Concept, confusing and service didnt reflect it.Food good, tea...what was in the cups, good.

Lisa Walsh: My preferred coffee is a Flat White because of its size and lack of foam.I paid £3.00 for a takeaway.When it was handed to me I presumed that the cup was well insulated because it didn't need an additional cup holder.The coffee tasted ok but there was at least a cm of foam and it was immediately drinkable, just over warm.I'm so annoyed at so called Baristas who make every coffee exactly the same.I won't be wasting any more money here.

Long Purple hair: I don’t know whether this place is still open. It is a hidden gem of Northampton. Step into a world of fantasy. It’s so cozy and the detail inside is absolutely delightful. Friendly staff. The food is beautiful. Love how the food was decorated and displayed. I bought cappuccino and had a mozzarella pesto sandwich, it came with salad and crisps. Good portions, very filling. The sandwich displayed in a basket like in red riding hood and an apple. The cafe interior is like escaping into one of Harry Potter books. Floating candles, jack and the beanstalk, Cinderella's shoe, careful you might end up in my novel sign. The atmosphere is very relaxing. Good value for money. I will definitely be coming here again. And there's parking outside. Don't forget to buy a ticket. I always find eating in a big city, can be intimidating and deciding where to go hard. If you love reading, this place is a great place to go and you'll fit in. It's retro and cool. Everyone please make sure you give the Magic Bean Emporium a chance. For someone like me who lives outside Northampton, this place is a real asset to Northampton. Keep up the great work!
Phil Halson: This coffee shop is downstairs at Northampton railway station (AKA Castle station). It was previously located on St Giles Street. At time of my visit it had only just opened in its new location, so expect things to get even better. The coffee is fantastic, and I suspect all the other drinks are too.

Noor Rhijnsburger: Overpriced, bland and soggy toasted sandwich (£5.95 including a bag of crisps we did not ask for). No toilet. We could use the toilet of the kind neighbors (Bread and Butter) and felt sad we didn't just go there for lunch, much better options and cosier.
Thujina Nathan: Harry potter themed cafe. Lots of varied hot and cold drinks such as milkshakes and coffees. They had some nice seasonal options such as pumpkin spice and creme brulee. A bit overpriced for what it is, but still a cute spot for coffee.

Nothing bad, but disappointing given the hype.
H: Amazing food, fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff. If the special is the maple bacon melt, then get it. A pocket sized break from reality, with a mind towards the environment and offers student discount on top.

The food and cakes included were all so tasty and fresh, it was very clean and quirky inside, worth the money, and the staff were all so friendly and polite, we were all very pleased and enjoyed our time there 😊

Jim Bob: I grew up near here, but moved away 20 years ago. So, on a recent visit back home I popped in with my uncle for bite to eat. We decided on a couple of all-day breakfasts and were not disappointed. Good food and the staff were lovely too. We had a good chat after eating and would definitely like to call in next time we're around.

Colin D: I can not speak highly enough of Rachael and her team. We had take away afternoon tea for a family celebration. It was amazing and made the day very special. They even coped with 2 celiacs and one gluten/dairy intolerant vegetarian. The food was lovely, fresh and good value for money. The staff so friendly, helpful and amazing. Can highly recommend.
Cheryl Archer: Thank you for helping make our bride to be's Hen Do special. Your staff where very accommodating and assisted us with hiding our bags, so they weren't in our pictures too ❤️. We were assisted with setting up decorations ect and the food was amazing. We had two ladies in our party who where Vegan and Vegiterian and they both enjoyed their food. The reason for the 4 stars is, we booked afternoon tea with prosecco and we where not provided any drinks other than tea/coffee. However we where only charged for afternoon tea so that was fine, no-one seemed to miss it. Also when we requested to take some pictures we was told "No" and asked to wait until turnover was complete. Other than the above we all enjoyed our time with you. Thanks again.
Risha Popat: Although the food here is good and they cater for Vegan and Gluten-Free, the service is shockingly diabolical! No manners from the staff from booking to arrival. Coffee and tea is unlimited but no one checks in enough to gain advantage of this perk. Staff serve you without a smile, they then walk out and shut the door and pop in every 15 mins or so. We arrived for a hen event and asked for a group photo and were told "no". There's way more about the customer service I could highlight but I think they need to start with the basics of smiling and not being so darn rude in their tone and maybe care a little about the guests. Especially when celebrating huge memorable events. Would never go again.

Jamal Ali: Terrible experience, it was early in the morning, the guy at the tell taking orders was very aggressive and the manager was rude. It would have been ideal if they warmed the pastry for us, it would have seemed like a bit fresh. We just wanted to catch up with a light breakfast and coffee, but they come to you and ask you if you can free the table, which was the first time in my life I have ever experienced at a coffee across the world. I just had a bad experience at Esquires Northampton

Lola Minney: I went with a friend & we ordered 2 vegan breakfasts. After waiting for about 30 minutes we asked if they knew where our food was & the ticket had gotten lost, so they hadn’t started making our food. We ended up waiting for about 1hr5mins for our breakfasts, which did not have our additional add-ons.The manager then came to apologise and offered us one donut as compensation. We didn’t feel that was fair & asked for a refund on our food as it was pretty cold and the wait had been incredibly long, but were told that wasn’t an option (which was disappointing as the wait and quality was sub-par). The manager then went on to blame the staff because they were so many new starters, which felt incredibly unprofessional. Disappointing and would not recommend.
