Milton Keynes University Hospital: what do users think?
Keith Rattray: Maple Clinic is such a reassuring part of the hospital care. Everyone is helpful, friendly and approachable particularly Elenor, Mimi, Lettie, Drs Yusaf Patrick and Robin Kearney. They have infinite patience and understanding. Thank you all so much
Silmara Capito: I went on Saturday at 3 am , with toothpain , it was quiet, no one patient there, the receptionist asked my data, and moved to an other side to measure my temperature and pressure, after that said to wait they would call on the screen my name, less the 5 minutes the doctor called my name, she asked what I was feeling, how long that, said they didn’t have dentistry, but requested to I open my mouth and saw the tooth, asked wich drug I had took, I said paracetamol and ibuprofen, and she said it would not solve, and then prescribed 2 painkillers, and said I could get it in all chemist in Milton Keynes , and suggested to find a dentist as soon as possible to solve the tooth, I was really feeling pain, the only negative point as foreign is : why has not medication in the hospital or chemist open 24 h there?
Martyn Slater: I wanted to let everyone know I accepted liability in my case MS v Milton Keynes hospital on the 25/05/23… I’ve figured out I have a personality disorder (BPD) and under extreme stress I disconnect and go psychotic and that’s what happened and I was looking to pass the blame… thank you for helping me
Ness: *UPDATE* PALS complaint was put in in May 2022. PHSO have told me that they responded to this complaint in August 2022 however I never received their response. I've been waiting to hear back from PHSO since Feb 2023 now.Awful hospital. Just don't go here.Gynaecology main number never answer the phones. Service is appalling, dismissive doctors. After basically killing me in what should have been a routine surgery they provide an "investigation" of the matter on a 2 page (1 paragraph) document. Disgusting. The only people who should get pay rises at this hospital are the nurses, porters, kitchen and cleaning staff. Will be writing a detailed complaint to PALS as soon as possible.I haven't heard anything good about this hospital from people's relatives and friends who have had 'care' there.
doug futers: I had a steroid injection yesterday in the Main X-Ray department, it’s worked 100% I’m so happy
John Reilly: A/E was a trial my wife and I spent 12 hours there. We put up with it stoically because it was obvious the hospital was very busy. (Tues 9/5). She was triaged and was having treatment while there. We also had a couple of consultations with a doctor. My wife ended up staying for 4 days. Overall staff , care, food and drink all excellent. The only confusing thing is all the different coloured uniforms as it would be nice to know who your dealing with.
Missy Reviews UK (LuLuVlogs): A few days ago I was reading my GP medical records, and I noticed multiple letters from Consultant Neurologist Dr Richard Butterworth, labelling me with a Psychiatric and Psychological illness, without medical evidence. He sent multiple letters to my GP, Cardiologist, and Neurologist. I was not copied into the letter I was unaware of this Consultant diagnosis. I’m shocked, his opinion is negligent. I have reported this Consultant to the Complaints Department, GMC, and PHSO.I have requested the letters are removed from my medical records immediately.None of the other Consultants at the Trust have diagnosed psychiatric and psychological illness.I hope this will be resolved soon 😞 🤦‍♀️
Zuzanna Tracz: I waited 5 hours in the emergency department just to be sent to the urgent help, where I waited another 4 hours with no one really telling me what was going on, despite my severe pain. No one told me what am I waiting for or for how about long is it going to be. People who came in after me were given help before, and when I asked why was it so I did not get any answer, since the nurse started “answering” when I was in the middle of my question. At the end I ended up with anxiety attack caused by severe pain, lack of food and stress. I would not recommend anyone to come in there EVER. 1 star is waaay to much. The most traumatic experience of my life.
Wahidur Rahman: MINUS ZERO STARS! Shocking experience at this hospital. O courtesy or care at all. The midwifes are appalling and miserable. My wife had the worst treatment ever whilst giving birth. We were left at the labour ward for hours after giving birth with no one checking on my wife or the baby. We had to call midwifes to check our babies temperature ( they were rude). Without our consent or knowledge they got a trainee midwife to stitch up my wife WITHOUT any anaesthetic. Few minutes of stitching up took an hour as the main midwife was instructing the trainee who was getting it wrong. For 45 minutes my wife went through agony worse then birth it self. The screams are still in my ear! I controlled my anger so my wife could make it through. I have never seen anything like this! I am baffled to how the stitching up was worse then giving birth. I am all for training new midwifes but do this with patients that give consent and someone that has taken epidural. When we spoke up the main midwife took over and finished the stitching in few minutes. It was like my wife was their guinea pig doing trail and error. Maybe they didnt like us as we are asian. My wifes pain and agony was worse then when she gave birth. We had our first baby in London so we know the difference in service. This was unbelievably poor. We had to ask for everything like checking our babies temperature to giving us milk. Gave birth at 12:40pm and was still in labour ward without anyone checking us until 9pm (have evidence) without food or water! Until i went out to complain then all of a sudden it was first class service. The lead sister was here trying to listen now all of sudden when i made a scene (she was rude earlier) Name Becky Hobbs. I let them know that i will be making a formal complaint maybe thats why their attitude changed. The midwife that was assisting with the birth came to see us at the end name Sarah. We asked her if she could assist us with dressing our new born. Her reply was “my shift is finished” . I couldn’t believe my eyes and shes a midwife. By the evening we got a midwife covering from maternity ward who was so lovely. She manages the maternity ward. If only all midwifes were like her. Forgotten her name but very bubbly person, informative, caring and helpful. She needs recognition. More midwifes like her is needed at this hospital. Hospital requires quality checks on the way they treat their patients. This is just a review and so long the complaint is going to be even longer. I hope no one has to go through what we went through ever!
Moka Plays: Not particularly impressed with Ward 23. My friend got hit by a car, resulting in 2 broken arms and a broken leg amongst a few other things. I have visited him near every day since admittance 5/6 weeks ago and the care he has been receiving is an absolutejoke. He keeps waiting 3+ hours for liquid medication when his pain level is going up as his shattered shoulder is trying to heal. I've physically heard nurses tell him to do (insert task here) himself when he's not physically able to, because "he did it earlier"... Yes because you keep telling him to "be more independent" despite him not being able to do the task without severe pain. Speaking of discharge even though he can't even lift a cup of water. Not helping him eat because he could scratch his chin, no thats not how it works. Waiting nearly 2 hrs to help when he needed the bathroom is far from acceptable. He's not an unreasonable patient, he's a polite man and it's just awful to see nurses who obviously don't want to be there. Don't stay there if you're going to provide sub-par care! I will be filling a more formal complaint because it's disgusting to see a man with 2 broken arms being told to do X, Y and Z that require the use of his arms when he cannot.
Aranab Ray: My wife had a Planned C section at MKUH on 29th March and we were a bit antsy about the facilities and arrangements based on the feedback from those who had first hand experience at the hospital. On the D day we arrived in time and to our pleasant surprise everything was so meticulously planned and orchestrated that I must say this hospital has the best in class facilities and the world’s best staff. The mid wives deserve special mention and each one of them made our stay at the hospital wonderful. Two points of improvement: 1. The staff to patient ratio can be improved as otherwise there is an extremely heavy burden in the already strained staff members. 2. Most of the patients( vaginal birth as well as c section) who were operated had post operative infection and antibiotics were started a bit late. It would be better if antibiotics are started as a preventive measure just after the operation as this would arrest any infection early. Probably this needs a professional review. I am suggesting based on what I witnessed.kudos once again to the great staff and hats off to the midwives.
Kathy Burnell: I was only in overnight but this is giving the opportunity to say this hospital ranks at the top .All staff are kind and understanding .I have been an outpatient ,had day surgery and an in patient for knee op,at all times the staff were lovely .With all the NHS has to contend with ,this hospital is excellent .
Jim: My Elderly mother was treated in the most appalling way by a Heomatolgist who never even wished to see her. My mother provided private blood test results to her NHS GP in order for him to refer to a Heomatolgist for suspected Multiple Myeloma. The Heomatolgist wrote back to my mother's GP and issued advice to look for Melononma but she did not request to see my mother in clinic prior to issuing inaccurate and dangerous advice for the wrong medical condition. (The blood test to which the Heomatologist issued advice on was a Myeloma Screen). A concern was raised with PALS and the Heomatolgist made an appointment to see my mother but refused to arrange tests that would rule out Multiple Myeloma. A Formal Complaint was submitted by my mother on 27th June 2022 as the Heomatolgist interfered in my mother's prescribed medications while at the same time refusing to see my mother in her clinic. The Complaint was acknowledged as is evidenced in this photo by the Complaints Manager but as of April 2023, No written response has been received. Any contact I've had with the hospital to chase up progress has been met with denial of any complaint they were aware of.
Antony Lamb: George Tenovici the most kindest and most understanding Surgeon you can ask for. For someone who struggles with awful anxiety and pulled out of the surgery on the a few occasions George was very supportive towards me. Due to my anxiety and the consultations I had with George I could only let him do the surgery, so when the hospital reallocated me to another consultant it was extremely tough so George stepped back in and he did the surgery for me. I am extremely grateful the way he looked after me and supported me over the last year and the way he cared for me during my surgery and before hand. I remember before going to under for thr surgery he rubbing my arm saying everything will be ok. I wouldn't of had this surgery without him and can't thank him enough. Highly recommended for patients who struggle with mental health
Julia Cave: Recently had knee replacement surgery here. Lovely caring staff, nothing was too much trouble and the care was second to none. First follow up appointment today, and again the best experience. I cannot fault this hospital, they are the best!
Duke Toastey of Towcester: Been here a few times AandE is good, people are friendly, however this place clearly needs better funding.Edit: 03/2023After visiting this place for an emergency surgery in which I had to stay for 2 nights I have to say that the staff on the wards where extremely understanding and patience with everyone, they took time to explain the surgery’s and risks as well as assistance with recovery.
Donna Clift: Hi I've been in this hospital a good few times and I would go back again, they really look after you x
Selina: Absolutely awful place, i was taken into ane yesterday by 2 lovely ambulance crew who were sent by 111 due to a severely distended abdomen, in absolute agony and suffering despite being on long term very strong pain relief for other conditions that wasn’t helping this pain.I have a history of specialist diagnosed complex medical conditions and problems ( which Mk hospital have negligently missed over the years and I’ve had to be seen by tertiary more specialist hospitals in Oxford and London to get the right diagnosis and care) which could cause the pain if in a severe flare or other conditions linked with it.I sat for 6 hours almost to be told loudly and aggressively by the vile ane dr there was nothing wrong with me I had no medical conditions in general and there was nothing wrong with me today despite the agony and distended abdomen and pain under my left rib running into my back.He also snapped at me that despite medical proof, that my conditions were my opinion as was me saying he was being dismissive despite medical proof of my conditions being given in by the ambulance crew and unnecessarily rude to me.He also then proceeded to tell me that unless I was going to literally drop dead in the next 3 minutes or need to be in theatre right now this second that I don’t need to be here.He then oddly told me he would stand up in court and state the fact I have no medical conditions as far as he is concerned - left me in tears to be told I have nothing medically wrong with me when I have and to be dismissed and made out to be a fantasist.I avoid Mk hospital ane like the plague normally now before this because of the way they are dismissive even to the point my cardiologist at mk has had to write me a clear and strict care plan to use when needing to come to ane to avoid me being fobbed off and yet I was subjected to this abuse and dismissive rude attitude yesterday.I fully intend to take this further with the cqc, gmc, legally if needs be and to go to the papers if I have to because these sort of so called professionals need to be held to account for making false allegations and demeaning statements towards patients and being dismissive rude and abusive - at the very least I want a full in person and written apology from this rude individual and full in person and written acknowledgment that he is wrong and acknowledgment by him and the hospital I do have these conditions I have been diagnosed with and assurances I won’t ever be spoken to and treated like that ever again. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Pep Gov: Ambulance come as my heart was racing due to my antipsychotics. Ambulance said I had to go hospital. Doctors were amazing!! Was told to stay to see a specialist, but due to my mental state I ran off. Wish I had of stayed now. What a great service at A&E
Jah Kevo: This was the worst experience I had in a hospital I hated been in this hospital from the day I was admitted. The maternity service department and the antenatal labour ward are a joke. The care was horrible, with no staff to look after the patients I understand there’s no enough staff in the NHS but surely reassurance would have attributed to our anxiety. I got admitted at 6pm and the first midwife to attend to me was at 11pm!! Having had inductions paused in between for more than 24 hours because of no staff and lack of proper effective communication. How can an expectant woman have her second prostin inserted at 10am and not be reviewed until after 24 hours because of lack of staff. I mean this staff don’t expect us to go and baby sit the beds it’s better to leave us stay at home than make us feel so frustrated whilst in the hospitals. More over they had cancelled the induction dates for more than twice before accepting to admit me. There’s was Only one consultant to review all the women in antenatal, postnatal and labour ward from Wednesday till Saturday. On top of that Mixing antenatal patients together with postnatal patients in the same ward and bays was not good enough and to make it worse transferring induction patients into triage area where other women are coming in and out with complications. It was traumatic to even think I will be next because they didn’t even monitor the baby for more than 12 hours at one point and with no doctor to review for more than 24 hours.Don't get me wrong one or two midwives were caring but others even forgot that patients need to be fed, informed of their care, some were even very racist with no empathy like midwife Louisa from CMK Avebury community who never made it easy for us.I personally encountered some times where I thought why she is so horrible and yet allowed to work in such a department. To a point where when you try to explain to her certain things she says you are lying as a patient. I just wish she will never have to be in such a situation where she will receive the nasty care she delivers to people especially from minority communities. In short I wouldn’t recommend Milton Keynes maternity department to anyone I have shared my horrible experience and many people have stated it’s been horrible like this for ages with even worse outcomes . Someone needs to take action and change this.
