Matt & Phreds Jazz Club: what do users think?
Yulong Lin: Great drinks and amazing live jazz music! I was there on Mon and Tue where there was free entry, and I really enjoyed myself!Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Carl Ayres: Open mic night. Had some talented musicians playing. Great atmosphere and will visit againService: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Paul Hollingworth: First time for drinks and music, and it was an enjoyable time. Definitely going againService: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
P&J Purcell: We love going to Matt & Phreds when we visit Manchester and listening to the music. Last night we decided to have some pizza. We ordered at 8:00 but did not get our pizzas until 11:00! Incredibly bad! Despite asking our waiter numerous times where our meal was he was unable to get the cook to move any faster. We were not even offered a refund after waiting 3 hours for our meal. I have never had such a bad experience waiting for food in all my life. If we hadn’t purposely come for the band we would have demanded a refund and walked out.I love the music but I will never eat there again!!!!!!
Lee Morrissey: Pretends to be a late bar but kicks you out early. Service is decent, bouncers are terrible.Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 1/5 …More
Martin Farrow: Wonderful evening out here listening to the live band. It's cool laid back and the sound system is loud enough to enjoy the experience without being deafening.Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Hamzah Hamid: One of my favourite small venues in Manchester, seen some great bands and groups performing here. Service was good, drinks are nice, and great to see some food offers too (though I haven't tried the pizzas yet).Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Vicki Campbell: Just caught the end of burlesque showVery uniqueDef go backService: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Jan Booth: If you are in Manchester this is a must, always an amazing time at Matt & Phreds.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Paul J Wilson: Great place to have a drink and listen to love music!!
Ryan Warr: Fantastic experience. We booked a table a day in advance and got one of the last ones at the far end away from the stage. It wasn't an issue as they had a TV showing a live view of the stage and we could still hear the music easily. If you want a table close to the front I recommend enquiring at least a few days in advance. We saw the Back Chat Brass Band and loved it, they played many well-known songs that got the crowd involved. Always a fun time coming here!
mark Connolly: Brilliant experience
Mary Clark: Matt and Phreds is a great venue. There are tables and chairs for your comfort, but doesn't stop people having a dance. The staff are speedy, helpful and smiley. Nice non-alcoholic beer. I went to their late night Saturday night session and saw the brilliant Suboptimal. My only worry is the toilets are upstairs; no good for people who struggle. If ever I see a band I want to see AND they're at Matt and Phreds then it's a double thumbs up from me.
Andrew Fachau: A long time ago I frequented this place. It was more couches and dirtier then. That wasn't necessarily a good thing. Walked in and it felt friendly and cool and like a place I could easily spend time in again. Most of the staff seemed young, which came as a surprise to me (my prejudices and the creep of father time, obv) but they were friendly and efficient. The music was nice and chilled and the drinks flowed. I was only there killing time before a gig but could easily have slipped into a night of it there and not worried. It was nice to reacquaint myself with an old haunt and realise that not everywhere in town has been exorcised and turned inside out for some footballer's wet dream.
Kathryn Thomas: Friendly and relaxing place. Will go again.
Robert Walker: Great atmosphere.
Rachel Harper: Cozy club in the northern quarter. Pizzas, cocktails friendly staff, all round great venue.
John Celestus: I love the vibe the food and the staff there. Such a beautiful little place
Divine Star: Great mix of music from Jazz, Blues and everything in-between. There are plenty of free events to attend and with regular 'Happy Hour's', a good choice of freshly cooked food. You can be sure to have a good time.
Howie A. D: What a lovely atmosphere, and lovely little venue.. the pizza, free pizza during happy was fab, the music was fab and the cocktails were fab. Definitely will be going again once the opportunity arrives again..Had a lovely evening with my daughter on this who loves the cello..

The Spinning Top: what do users think?
muesician #123: Perfect music venue
LID George: What a lovely little find, a little lived in lounge esque proper live music pub. For the locals but very inviting and we felt right at home. Good music choices - The Smiths, the Cure all being sung along to. Looks to be a blues festival venue in September - would defo come back for that.
Ian Fielding: Great little venue, 4 superb bands, 1 not quite upto the job PA!Keep up the great work guys, I'll be back for another gig soon
james graham: Great place. Nice drinks, lots of live music. The owners obviously love music
Michael Harrison: Great range of local real ales, fine lagers and ciders..Great for live music, supporting up and coming local bands, good for private functions.
Tony Welsby: Great little pub serving a wide selection of craft beers, real ales and other beverages. Also has a cracking live music scene too. I’ve been a number of times and never disappointed.
Damian Carrington: Great bar
Richard Bendall: Great beer and great music!
ms vivienne Landers: The landlord Mike always make people welcome. Listened to a band called The Reedcutters
george amos: Great music, good atmosphere and decent beer
Beverley Nicholls: When to watch a band bax rafter enjoyed it very much will go again the wine was good as well 👍
Andy Traverse: Brilliant friendly live music venue.
Alan Neill: Our first visit was during the Stockport Blues Festival, had a great day there, not a huge place but a good atmosphere for live music. Let down by the flimsy plastic cutlery you get with your pie & chips, for all of us it shattered into the meal when you used it and I cut my thumb. The other reason I've only given it 3 stars is the draught beer was foul. Stockport is unique in having its own independent brewery 'ROBINSONS' why weren't you promoting that ! I know tastes differ but 'Robbies' is a well established and popular ale. I hope you consider it. The festival was well organized and we shall certainly return next year and before that if we can get a decent pint, Chesters or canned Boddingtons would do. People have complained about difficulty in parking. A couple of side-streets along 'Station road & Railway Road you'll find the main precinct with a huge car park which is a short walk to the club.
Barrie O'Dell: Lovely, small, old fashioned blues club. Always worth a visit if you are in the area. Small range of draught beers, but virtually, every spirit known to man!
Matthew Barker: Awesome live music venue
Julian Homer: I've been in here several times and always has a great night because I love live music. They started an open mic night on a Thursday which I went to and it was great! The beers are good and the guys that run it are ace. It's a real highlight of Stockport and everyone I've spoken to in there have always been well down to earth.
Gerard Devney: Fab old school venue with a real rock n roll vibe and good ale. The acts are top notch too
Ian Dowe: Very good
gary smith: Great music venue , Saw Sandraiser here last night , A dish on tables asking for contribution to pay band ! BRILLIANT ! I'LL GLADLY DO THIS AT GIGS
Paul Williams: Great place for live music
T. H.: Great bar, nice staff. Good choice in drinks. Fab entertainment. Properly loud too.
