The ABBA Super Troupers exhibition immerses visitors through its music, lyrics, creative process and influence on the musical landscape of the 70s and 80s.

David Hockney at the National Portrait Gallery

David Hockney is known for his paintings of swimming pools as,
Portrait of an Artist, Peter Getting Out of Nick's Pool or A Bigger Splash, his most famous painting (photo above).

Since February 27, 2020, the National Portrait Gallery presents works less known to the general public of the British artist.

Through the exhibition David Hockney: Drawing from Life, the museum exhibits for the first time 150 drawings and more particularly self-portraits and portraits of four people close to Hockney: his mother, Laura Hockney, his muse Celia Birtwell, his friends Gregory Evans and Maurice Payne.

Trooping the color: the Queen's birthday in June

During a military parade called Trooping the Colour, the Horse Guards celebrate the birthday of Queen Elisabeth II. At 11:00 am, Queen Elisabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh go by coach to Horse Guard Parade to give the royal salute to the sound of “God Save the Queen”. Then at 12:52 and 13:00 p.m. cannon shots were fired at Green Park and the Tower of London. Finally at 13 p.m., the royal family appears on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to attend the flypast.

It is possible to attend all of these events for free, however if you wish to have a grandstand seat you will need to make a written request and pay £ 35.

The opening ceremony of Parlement which marks the beginning of the parliamentary session is held each year in May. The Queen delivers her speech in the House of Lords of the Palace of Westminster where she sets out the government's legislative program.

On this occasion, Queen Elisabeth II leaves the Buckingham Palace and travels to Westminster in a horse-drawn carriage accompanied by an escort of Horse Guards. This ritual attracts each year several thousand people eager to discover this very solemn ritual. If you wish to attend the ceremony, arrive no later than 10:00 a.m. and stand on the right sidewalk to see the Queen who is sitting on the same side in the coach.
