Visit the Sea Life Aquarium in London

The Sea life Aquarium is renowned for its great diversity of marine species such as sharks, penguins, octopuses and the popular anemonefish. This family activity will introduce children to the wonders of the marine world and educate adults about the preservation of our oceans.

Presentation of the Sea Life Aquarium

With over 500 aquatic species from all over the world, the London Aquarium is home to one of the largest collections of marine specimens in Europe divided into 14 thematic areas. Each of them represents a different biotope: lakes, oceans and rivers. The largest basin rises over 3 floors and contains 1 million liters of water where 12 species of sharks such as tiger, zebra, guitar or black tip sharks evolve.

A fun activity that appeals to children is feeding fish which is held several times a day.

What are the strengths of the Sea Life Aquarium?

- Many activities for children such as interactive pools where the little ones can stroke or touch seashells, starfish but above all rays!

- Rare or impressive aquatic species such as the cuba crocodile, sharks, leopard rays, piranhas, seahorses, leaf fish ...

- The Shark Walk is the largest pool in Sea Life. On 3 levels amidst the statues of Easter Island, 16 species of sharks and rays come together. Take advantage of the glass tunnel, to discover the rays from an unusual angle !!!

- The Ice Adventure brings together gentoo penguins in an Antarctic setting with an interior temperature of 8 ° Celsius. Protected by a glass, you will see them moving on the pack ice or swimming in the basin. Which is the opportunity to see them more closely!

Sea Life Aquarium: my review

In my opinion, a visit to the London Aquarium will appeal more to children than adults. The little ones will be amazed by the Cuban sharks, rays and crocodile. Amused by clownfish and gentoo penguins.

For my part, I regretted that there are few reef aquariums with fish and multicolored corals. Overall the aquariums are dark and we hope to see more tropical species for traveling!

On the other hand, I fell in love with the pre-Columbian environment of the large basin where sharks and manta rays swim around the statues of Easter Island and the whale skeleton.

Finally, visiting Sea Life can be unpleasant during busy crowds. The aquarium becomes noisy and the aisles are overrun with strollers making access to the pools difficult.

When to visit the Sea Life Aquarium?

Visiting Sea Life when it's raining in London is a great way to stay dry and keep the kids busy. They will undoubtedly be more receptive to this kind of activity than a visit to the museum. However, the other side of the coin for this good plan can be the high attendance of the place. To escape the world, avoid going to Sea Life during school holidays and opt for a visit in the morning when it opens or at the end of the afternoon.

How long does it take to visit the Sea Life Aquarium?

If you are with your family, allow up to 2 hours for a visit, while the children discover fun activities, watch the fish being fed, or watch certain videos. For my part, I visited Sea Life in 1h15 taking the time to take photos and contemplate the rays and sharks.
