Golden Union: Quality Fish & Chips in Soho

Opened in 2008, Golden Union is a fish & chip restaurant located in the Soho district, not far from the famous shopping streets of Regent Street and Oxford Street. Ideally located, Golden Union is an address not to be missed in the neighborhood, especially if you are shopping!

Presentation of the Golden Union restaurant?

At Golden Union, the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed! The decor is retro with tiled walls, vintage-style wooden tables and chairs. A juke box is available to customers who can choose the music they want to listen to free of charge.

As for the service, it is fast, efficient and all with a smile!

The presentation is simple and unadorned, but it doesn't matter, since the taste and the quality are there! Indeed, at Golden Union the watchwords are freshness and tradition! The fish are delivered daily from UK waters and the potatoes are delivered weekly from the east of England.

The batter is made from beer giving the fish & chips a light and crispy coating. Another point, the restaurant communicates on the fact that it changes the frying oil at least four times a week, thus giving fish & chips less fatty and of better quality.

The knife-cut fries are light and go well with the homemade tartar sauce. We might regret the absence of peas, but maybe that's a detail!

Besides cod, the Golden Union also offers haddock, plaice, shark, saithe… and many other things as fish! Do not hesitate to consult the menu.

How much does a Fish & Chips cost at Golden Union?

Count £ 12.50 for a cod fish & chips for a small portion which is already generous, and £ 13.95 for a large portion. To this must be added 12,50% for the service.

However, comparing the prices with other fish & chip restaurants that I have tested, such as Fish, Poppies, Mayfair Chippy and Rock Sole Plaice, it is Golden Union that offers one of the best value for money! The setting is certainly less chic than the others but is nonetheless unpleasant.

Good plan to eat at Golden Union

For the same quality and pay less, the best plan is to buy your take-away fish & chips (from £ 7). However, the restaurant does not have a terrace, you will have to taste it in the street ...
