Wimbledon & Putney Commons are designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation, providing an important home for wildlife and a place for visitors to relax.

During bird nesting season from 1 March to 31 August, visitors with dogs are asked to keep their charges under control. Dogs should be kept on a lead around ponds to protect wildfowl and on the plain to stay on mown paths and out of long grass.

Visitors can join the team as a Fundraising Manager to help care for and enhance the Commons for people and wildlife to enjoy. Additionally, gifting a year's membership to the Friends of Wimbledon & Putney Commons is a unique way to share love for the area.
