The Ginger Pig: what do users think?

Carolyn Watson: Oh, the fabled sausage roll from The Ginger Pig. I’m so glad I visited to buy one of their gorgeous traditional sausage rolls. Although I only managed to get about half way through one, because I wanted to leave room for other tastes at Borough Market, I was really impressed with how delicious it was. Pastry was flaky and buttery, but sturdy enough to envelop the hefty portion of nicely seasoned sausage meat. Warm, moist and decadent, these sausage rolls are a must-get. I’d love to return to try the lamb sausage roll on my next trip to the market.

Claudette: Now I love butchers pies/scotch eggs etc I hunt them down. So I was really looking forward to this one as heard good things online. So was very sad to give such a low rating. Everything in the cabinet looked freshly baked, there was a queue. The product was very nicely wrapped Ordered a traditional sausage roll for £5, expensive but it is very big so could be shared, plus it is central London. But pretty sure that was not what I was given, there was an overpowering tang to the meat which I was not expecting. Plus the pastry tasted of cheese (now I love a cheese straw) but this was much stronger and I found it very difficult to eat. Unfortunately I had to rush to work, otherwise I would of gone back. Looking at my photos now, I am thinking that I was given a pork and stilton one by mistake? Big thanks to the owner at Ginger Pig, I picked up my replacement traditional sausage roll yesterday. Warm filling and tasty and great customer service - much appreciated!!!
Response: Hi Claudette, we are incredibly sorry you experienced this, we always want you to have a great time when shopping with us and would love to offer you a traditional sausage roll free of charge on your next visit to Borough Market. This should not have happened, and we do hope you can accept our sincere apologies. Best Wishes, Ellie

Marissa Dingler: This place is delicious. Definitely grab a sausage roll from here. The spicy one really isn’t that spicy, and it was definitely our favorite. The dough is flaky and delicious, and the filling isn’t dry at all! We only had the sausage rolls, so I can’t speak about anything. If you’re at the market, and need something to eat, you won’t regret this!

Sherry Wu: Very girthy and tasty sausage roll! Meat was well cooked, not too dry, and the pastry on the outside was crisp to give it more variety in texture. Definitely would give it a try if you have never had it before.
Response: We are so glad you enjoyed them Sherry!

Alexey Subach: Such a warm and delicious sausage roll! I had the traditional one and it was very flavourful, definitely not dry, and with a generous amount of meat inside. It’s a great value for money to have a snack for two people. Nothing extraordinary but still I recommend trying this roll if you are around
Response: Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review, Alexey!

M C: Happy, helpful staff. You can watch the butcher’s at work on the fine array of meats. I bought a Black pudding scotch egg. A Quail scotch egg. Traditional sausage roll and a Pork Stilton sausage roll. Warmed them up in the oven for 10 mins, then scoffed the lot!

Fab R: Initially, I only queued up as the line at the Ginger Pig was slightly shorter than other shops on the market. Thankfully I did - the sausage rolls were absolutely fantastic. Perfect taste and texture, highly recommended. I also had a Scottish Egg which was very nice as well. Had I not moved on, I would have gone back to get additional rolls for taking home (as several other customer wisely did that queued up with me).
Response: Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review, we're so pleased you loved our sausage rolls and scotch eggs!

Alan Tan: The window of sausage rolls and the long queue would attract any curious foodie. The sausage roll is generous. I recommend to share with somebody if u want to leave room for other good things in the market

Jason Santos: Two words: ‘Sausage Roll’ 🤤 Simply the best sausage rolls anyone could ask for, packed with meat, flaky buttery pastry and full of flavour...Get one of these while you walk around deciding what to have next. Delicious & enjoy everyone!

Macken Brothers Butcher: what do users think?

Mark Girling: I dont live in the area but walked in for some pork chops. Fab service, great quality meat choices on offer. Small line of loyal customers which is always a good sign.

DavidGourley1: We had heard about a butchers in Chiswick that sells exotic meats (eg kangaroo, ostrich). Having worked out that the butcher in question is Macken Brothers, and impressed with their website, we paid a visit, albeit we are not locals. The website lists exotic meats that are available and says they can be ordered. We duly enquired and were dealt with, I rather thought, in somewhat flippant manner, with joshing about Skippy and so on. No confirmation that exotic meats can be ordered. We might well have placed an order had the chap there offered to take one but he seemed unaware of what their website says in this regard. Not the professional approach promised on the website.

Vasileios Filippidis: Good meat quality. Fast service . They do not give a detailed note on weight / price .

Ivan Kushlick: I was one of those who queued for hours on the 23rd Dec and was more than happy with the result. Rodney took a special order for me by phone the day before and had it for me the next day with a big smile. The preparation of my order was perfect and the product itself was absolutely delicious. This is the true definition of a great butcher. They work hard and deliver to the highest standards. Thank you Rodney!

Andrey Nikolaev: Can be hit and miss. One day bought awesome lamb, last Saturday was sold terrible stuff - had to through all away. Unacceptable. Should have watched and checked every piece packed.

Liisi Tambur: Meat there is good and all, but today after work I went past the butchers on the way home. I was there at 17.42 (supposed to close at 6pm) to be told at door that they are closed. Just wanted a quick buy of chicken breast for tonights dinner. Been carrying my own container all the way from home to work just to buy the meat there. Bit disappointing. If its 6pm on website, then it should be 6pm closing.

The Ginger Pig: what do users think?

Anna Lukacs: They have wide range of meat and they present it very well in their shop window (… as you can see in the pictures.) I am sure if you are not vegetarian … 😉 you will be impressed about it.

Jasmine Ria Singh-Poon: Excellent meat and knowledgeable butchers. There is one butcher who is exceptionally friendly, he gives little presents to my dog and has made some excellent suggestions on what we should buy.

Dawn Branigan: Love this place. Good husbandry in practice. Also an awesome deli! Not cheap but food is ethically managed and tasty. A real feel good experience

Alan Eagle: Yes rather pricey but you receive superb quality meat great advice and service. Are happy to cut joints to a desired weight and if b you need something difficult to find in other retails they will order usually Friday for the following week. Great service and cheerful and helpful staff.Their front shop window a work of butchery art

Sharman Walker: My son & I have made a visit from Hertfordshire & just had to go into this first class butchers. The staff are so friendly & obliging. Their meat pies are to die for. The meat is so tender & the pastry melts in your mouth. We also bought their calves liver, for which is difficult to get. Will be tasting this tonight. My first time in this butchers BUT definitely not my last. Highly recommended. Thanks to all ☯️

Henry Haxby: Fantastic quality meat! I would rate five star but I find that the prices are a bit too high. I can appreciate that quality and price are relative to each other but the price is still a little steep. Other than that, great selection of meat and cuts. The store is always kept clean and the service is friendly.

Liza Moon: I have always found the service to be wonderful, as helpful as can be. The quality of the meat seems very good and the cleanliness of the shop is impressive. Generally speaking, I am a big fan!

Steve Smith: You really do get what you pay for. Highly skilled staff serving the best quality meats

Susie Kerr: What a lovely bunch bringing the “local” feel back to our high streets with great quality meat. I forgot my purse and before I’d even asked Benedito offered that I come back and pay the following day. A true gesture of good honest trust. More of that in the world please 🙌🏻🌟 the beef was super tasty too! #eatlocal #smalltraders #qualityoverquantity

Wild Beef: what do users think?

Daniela M: Amazing ! They sell only organic english beef. We bough a kilo of Topside cut we made a great roast beef ! We followed the cooking instructions he gave us: Season the meat with salt and pepper an little oil 180 c oven mark for 15 Min each side (30 Min Total for the size of a Kilo cut) It was tender and very very testy meat ! We have found our trusty roast beef cut supply!

Parsa Khavand: Got some lovely well priced hanger steak, mince and organic eggs. I love the ethos behind the farm, exactly how meat should be done. I will be visiting each time I go to borough market. Keep up the good work

Flo: If I visit the BM I always try to visit this stall. Quality of products is excellent, final taste incredible, and Richard and Liz are amazing kind people, ready to share a smile, a chat, and few tips. Great value as well. Highly recommended.

Peter Bullock: Saturday 16/12/17 Just as the stalls were closing I bought some Minute steaks from the Wild Beef stall from a very tired bearded gentleman. Cheer up! We enjoyed them this evening and agreed my previous loyalty has to shift! The beef is so full of flavour, very reasnobly priced and I wish I had bought some more. Excellent. Thoroughly recomended.

Tim Hampson: Thank you for the lovely brisket and the cooking advice.

Syed Uddin: As a tourist, Gabby made us feel very welcome and made sure the service was perfect :) the food is amazing, big portion and gourmet quality :) thanks again Gabby!

Natalie: Lovely place to grab your meats and some pantry and fresh veggies. It’s a firm favourite for us and our Doggo Rex really enjoys his bones and beef mince from Ginger Pig. The staff are lovely and always happy to advice how to cook items or help you choose if you’re stuck for choice.

Jet Donnelly: I’ve been going to ginger pig for 6 years and they’ve never failed to meet my expectations. Friendly and knowledgable staff, amazing selection of protein, amazing hand made sausages and the prepared food section out the back has the hands down best sausage rolls you’ll ever taste. All their protein is wrapped plastic free, which is a huge plus. Keep it up lads! 🥩

George Love: Tasty local butcher for any roast you want! Delicious pies and fresh sausage rolls are on offer too.

Dave Edwards: Great quality meat and expert advice from super friendly staff.
Response: Thanks for great review Dave!

Clare Sloane: The best butcher in London! The meat from here is amazing particularly the steak and sausages. Everyone comments when we pick up sausages from Ginger Pig that they are best sausages they have ever tasted. The huge pies are delicious and the sausage rolls are out of this world. Staff are always really friendly and always helpful when we ask for any tips on how to cook the meat. We wouldn’t go to any other butcher!

Joe A. Rice: Amazing modern butchers with old school knowledge. I see a few bad reviews on here but from my experience, Ginger Pig go above and beyond to rectify any problems that may have happened and deal with them professionally, keeping everybody happy. Don’t be afraid of the knives, they are really sweet!

Adam Nadvornik: Super clean, friendly butchers with excellent quality of meat. Burgers are to die for!

Sebastian Braidot: Superstar butcher. The meat is unbelievably tasty and the staff very friendly and helpful. Last time I had a 850g cote de boeuf and it was delicious.

Andrea White: Great butchers! I went in to buy some stewing beef and they were really helpful with advising me which cut of beef to buy with great detail! The beef was stunning, so tender and flavoursome. Very friendly staff, would strongly recommend!

The Ealing Butcher & Charcutier London: what do users think?

James Thompson: Amazing butchers! Has an incredible selection of meat and cheese. Andy, Dave and the other staff are always very helpful and friendly. Would totally recommend. Best Butcher in London.

Evstratios Alisafakis: Great variate of quality meats. Try the sirloin roll! perfect for Sunday lunch. Also scotch eggs are awesome.

Gwenno Haf Hughes: Always have the best quality steaks here - and have had amazing sausage rolls and scotch eggs in the past!! They also have amazing looking meals such as Mini-Beef Wellingtons that I hope to try soon!! Staff are great and are also full of advice and tips! Such a quality butcher!!

Umyara Fernandez: You pay a little bit more but you know you are buying quality. All animals are free range, local and welfare. The place is very clean and the counter meats invites you to buy everything as everything looks nice. The meat is also very tasty! The staff working there is fine, David is definitely the friendliest, the rest could be a bit more amicable.

David Gwin: An absolutely brilliant butcher. Until this opened we had to travel to Northfields for a proper butcher and this was good, but this is better. The choice of food available is great quality and with one exception (more later and this is a positive feedback), I have always been impressed by the results that I have had by cooking. The range of meat available is impressive and you spot the quality difference from what you can buy from a supermarket. Yes you pay more, but this is worth it. It is also worth noting that this does far more than meat. Cheese and wine are also available and are of equally great quality. Now, back to the one exception. I bought a piece of lamb, that I roasted and was not happy with the results. I mentioned it in passing when I was in making another purchase, as I tend to provide feedback and usually it is positive. The attention I received was fabulous and there was genuine concern, even though the shop was empty (so not trying to impress anyone other than me)! Cannot praise the service highly enough.

Eleni Tsartsali: Excellent butcher. Quality meat and great variety of choices. Highly recommended

Aurore: I had a spicy lamb sausage roll from this butcher and I don’t have the words to describe how delicious it was. It felt like going back to childhood and tasting things for the first time again. Thank you so much for this time travel experience and your amazing sausage roll. I highly recommend this place and will come back very often.
Response: What a lovely review, thanks so much Aurore, we're glad we could evoke such wonderful memories!

Chester Boy: What has happened to the sausage rolls ! Went to this place today and bought 5 sausage rolls ! And they were lovely before! What has happened! The first and lasting thing you get is this pungent and overpowering taste of cheese ! Since when do you use cheese to make sausage rolls ! Towards the end I couldn’t even finish one because it was so strong in cheese taste it was vile! It was totally overpowering! The whole taste of the lovely sausage meat and the pastry was just strong cheese in nature! It actually made me gag towards the end ! Ruined a masterpiece! They are just not the same !
Response: Hi Chester Boy, we're incredibly sorry to hear this and we're investigating this internally. We'd like to discuss further with you, would you be happy to e-mail us at enquiries@thegingerpig.co.uk so we can chat further?

Ola Durojaiye: Sumptuous sausage roll. I will find it impossible to view any other sausage roll as I used to.🤔
Response: We are so pleased you enjoyed it Ola, thanks for a great review!

yvonne simpson: The very best butchers/deli in London. Their bacon and pasties are unbelievable. I travel from the Cotswolds to purchase the best meat products and cuts from here.
Response: Thanks so much Yvonne - that's a long round-trip, we really appreciate it!

Andreea Mihailescu: Amazing service The best quality meat that my husband has ever tasted and he knows his meat 🍖 😋 😜. Great hygiene standards and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeably about the products they are offering. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Response: Thanks for such a great review Andreea, glad your husband enjoyed it too!

Mike Clark: Visited in order to do an evening butchery course; I couldn’t recommend it more highly. The course was well delivered, and very fun. I learned a lot and had a very enjoyable evening. As you would expect, the meat was absolutely superb, and they were very generous with portions and indeed with wine... The butcher shop itself is a great place to get high quality aged beef at a reasonable price - totally trackable from farm to plate!

Ionela Mihaela: Outstanding products, excellent quality of fresh meats that cook beautifully. Very friendly and helpful staff, i would highly recommend to anyone!!!
Response: We are so pleased you have had such a great experience, thanks for the review Ionela!

Adriana Sercau: Delicious meat and sausages ,also staff is wonderful and really helpful. I highly recommend this place to all .
Response: Thanks for a lovely review Adriana, we hope to see you back again soon!

Ben Nicholson: Took part in the butchery class Saturday night and had a brilliant time. The butchers were amazing. Funny, charismatic, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. We all started pretty shy but by the end of the night(and a glass of wine down) I felt relaxed and ready to give it a go at home. The shop itself is easy to find, beautiful to look at and be in, and a treasure trove of top quality meats, condiments and knives. Fully recommend this shop and the butchery course, I went by myself but I think it would be amazing with your partner as well.

Wendy Leung: We bought merguez, pot pies and cornish pasties...so delicious. They sell marvelous aged beef!

Martin Milton: I highly recommend the chicken breast stuffed with goats cheese I purchased from the window today, which is always well stocked and looks amazing. I’ve not seen it before and thought I’d give it a go. The unsolicited cooking instructions given by staff were flawless, fool proof and gratefully received as the end result was a tasty, beautifully seasoned, tender, juicy piece of chicken cooked to perfection. Throughly enjoy every mouthful.

Chloë vD: Friendly staff and excellent service! Would highly recommend them. I ordered a beautiful Christmas tree from them last year, so I bought one again this year. As I live nearby, they delivered it to my house for free. However, this time the tree ended up being bigger than expected. They picked it up for me again and returned it to their shop. Amazing service!!

Will CS: Defrauded my girlfriend. I asked for three 1-inch thick sirloin steaks, which my girlfriend went to pick up, and sadly trusted them enough to not check the pack. They charged her £17 and when I opened them, I found 3 thin cut old steaks, with even some extra bits of fat thrown in separately to bulk up the weight (see photos). 579g so they charged her £29.30 per kilo for old steak! Avoid.

ian stewart: Fantastic butcher shop.Tried the beef stir fry and it was so good I shall not be making it myself again. They use the best beef and get the accompanying ingredients spot on ; not too spicy or hot , just right. Well done the girls there.

Mark Betteridge: Great traditional butcher. Decent meat at a fair price. On my last visit I bought a turkey for a Thanksgiving dinner. Ordered on the phone on Tuesday and collected on Thursday. The bit I liked the most was that they were happy to talk about how best to cook it and even threw in a thermometer to make sure it was cooked perfectly.

Vittorio Sandri: I asked for an aged steak they gave me a piece that was not aged at all, had terrible texture (was almost impossible to chew). The bone attached to the meat was so long that it was impossible to fit it in any casserole leaving the steak flat. The meat was cut in 4 pieces and kept together by a band. I am sorry but this is not acceptable, especially for £20 pounds. You have to be respectful of clients and listen to what they are asking.
Response: Hello Vittorio, we remember you coming into the shop yesterday evening, what you asked for was a rib eye steak, then changed your mind and asked for a ribeye on the bone to which my colleague offered you a tomahawk steak, which you said would be great. If the bone was to long we would of been happy to cut the bone shorter if you had requested. The tomahawks are not cut into pieces and then held together with bands,The sting around the steak is there to hold the steaks shape. Tomahawk steaks are ment to be fried or done in the oven they are not really a casserole steak.

Robert Bowen: One of my favorite butchers in the world. Always come here when I’m in the area. Fresh, delicious meat and nice pies and sausage rolls too.

patricia roberts: I found this butchers a few weeks ago on a work trip. I was astonished at how reasonably priced they where and good the beef tasted. I brought my partner with me yesterday to get our weekly meat shop. The customer service was excellent, they were polite and offered great service and advice. We are both black and both times we received excellent service.

Lucy Read (FoodieForce): How butchers used to be, a great selection of high quality meat at good honest prices for what you are getting. The queues are there for a reason

Benjamin Verheijden: Good prices usually but got overcharged today and was told I wasn’t. Apparently, 670gr of ox cheek at £14.55/kg costs £14.59. Because “their scales are in grams but the prices isn’t”. Even though it’s clearly £14.55kg. 🤷🏼‍♂️
Response: Hello Benjamin Apologies just seen your review, I remember having a conversation with you about the scales being in grams and kilos and the pricing tickets showing both 1lb price and kilo price, although I do belive that you had more then 670grm of ox cheek, if you could bring your receipt in I'll be more then happy to take a look and see if there was an error on our part

Az: The selection and quality of meat is unbelievable. Staff are friendly, polite, knowledgeable and willing to help advise on what is suitable for your cooking exploits. Highly recommended

marcia walters: Love the minted lamb chops and chicken potions, however, the customer service can be a bit hit and miss. I find the owner and the older male members of staff friendly and helpful. There are couple of members of staff who in my opinion could do with a lesson in good manners. One female member of staff I find quite rude and abrupt and the other is a young ignorant and inarticulate blonde man Both of these characters have left me feeling quite uncomfortable after being served by either of them. Good manners cost nothing.

Neil Hogg: We buy chickens from here - the yellow corn fed French ones and Creedy Carver birds from Devon. Both are really excellent. Other items can be a bit "wholesale packaged", but we have had good dry cured bacon and steak too.

Tim Beaver: Total shambles - ordered online and received an order confirmation with a PDF invoice and order number. When I enquired where my order was I was told there was no record of my order and the guy I needed to speak to had knocked off early.

My Switch Shop: Have been a customer before, the chicken that time was perfect however this time, they just forward me over chicken they brought from muscle food. with the original muscle food packaging. Not like last time. really poor from a company I raved about.

Chris Kelly: Excellent meat, and amazing customer service. A good website with a wide range of meats, cuts, etc. Fantastic offers. Customer service was brilliant.

Elliot Theis: Best butcher in the area by far. Good selection of high quality meat. The staff are very helpful.
Response: Hi Elliot, thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review, we really appreciate it. Look forward to seeing you in the shop sometime soon!

Nia Lloyds: Amazing quality products and the butchers are so friendly and full of charm .
Response: Thanks so much for your taking the time to leave a review, Nia - we appreciate it!

Alexander Kartun-Giles: Expensive but good quality. Lots of nice rare cuts of steak like T-bone. Also lamb sausages, partridge, haggis, homemade cornish pasties, burgers, and so on. Would recommend despite the price.

Caroline Cassidy: My father, Michael Macpherson, and I shop here almost daily, very friendly staff and amazing meat! We’re sad to hear the Deli Counter is closing, we will really miss Mary, she’s such a lovely person, always cheerful and welcoming and she’s a wonderful cook, we have our freezer stocked with her delicious bolognaise sauce, chicken stew and chicken soup and often eat her rare roast beef and hams.

Bella Verdemela: Best butcher in town. Free Range meat and poultry are exceptional quality and top-class. They do excellent pies and have a wide variety. My favourites are Chicken and Leek as well as Beef and Mushroom. Special mentions are sausages and bacon. Very tasty and great texture but not salty like the ones you buy from supermarket. In my opinion they are better value for money and better quality than Moen and Sons (another butcher with a huge following) in Clapham. Ginger Pig is clean and organised and the service is attentive and efficient. A great plus is they open on Sunday!

Y S: Food is good, atmosphere is good but extremely poor shop practice, twice I have gone in to buy something and twice it was measured on scale and given the price, then they wrap it up in their “packaging” paper, weigh it again and magically the price goes up, obviously I have paid both times since it’s only like a 0.20p increase, but the prices for the products are already high and I would have expected these “tricks” wouldn’t form a part of a butchers...

Paul Maxey: Decent Butcher shop.

Nicolas Bonvin: Bought some sausages from here today, they were amazing also all made in house. The staff is very friendly and they have an extremely good selection of cuts. Will definitely be coming back !!

Alex Cass: Love this place - Gavin is just so kind and welcoming. Great quality and good value (I have no idea why there is a queue outside the ginger pig to pay through the nose when this place is here). Bethnal Green sausages are not to be missed! Summer bbq not complete without them!

Siu Yen Lo: Exceptional and warm service from the butchers here. Gavin is always ready to advise on things and happy to suggest alternatives. There is a large range of high quality cuts to choose from and their store made sausages are the best ever, try them and you won’t be happy with anything less. Quite a good selection of poultry to choose from too, poussin, game birds when in season, and at least 2-3 types of whole chickens, some corn-fed, some herb-fed. If they don’t have something you want, the team is ready to advise you which day of the week to come back to get it, and you can place orders for collection too. On the counter there is also specialty honeys, smoked garlic, duck and chicken eggs, locally sourced preserves/chutneys/sauces/etc, and the usual marinades and pantry staples. I love this shop and cannot recommend it enough; thank you Gavin and team.

Joe Jackson: An excellent range of meat and other provisions. Helpful staff who always happy to have a chat about whatever needs you might have for a creative dinner.

Jonathan Leader Maynard: Brilliant butchers, helpful friendly staff, and reasonable prices. Everything a quality butcher should be.

MarkLowther: Visited yesterday bought some Sirloin steak, bacon and Pork chop. Have eaten half of the Sirloin and some of the bacon. Absolutely first class both items, this has been a revelation in terms of flavour and quality. Will go back and see if I can pick up some sweetbreads!

Emily Burrett: The best butchers in the area. The quality, variety, taste and price of meat is excellent. The chicken kebabs and burgers are just the best! The staff are always so friendly and go out of their way to help, give you good advice on how to cook your meat or recommend you alternative cuts of meat for the dish you are cooking. We only buy our meat from here now and have recommended this to many local friends, who are also now repeat customers. Would highly recommend Peckovers!

The Hampstead Butcher & Providore: what do users think?

Gaston B: I Have been looking for a butcher that could cut the meat like my butcher did in Uruguay. Really happy I found this butcher! Top quality! Thanks Patrick!
Response: Thank you Gaston for your 5-star review and feedback 👍

Jerome G: Some people might be tempted to say they are the best butcher in London... Reality or approximation?? I don’t know But definitely a place where you see at a glance the meat is of high quality choice. Inside there is also a large choice of « épicerie «
Response: Thanks J G for your review and 5-star rating. We certainly try to be up there with the best 👍

Dunja Noack: An excellent butcher with an excellent delicounter and some wonderful wines and goodies for the larder. We eat a lot less meat these days. But when we eat meat its a treat. And then it really pays to pay a little extra for good, organically sourced meat. These butchers know their suppliers, give advice, and have a wonderful selection. Highly recommeded
Response: Thank you Dunja for your review. We’re delighted that you enjoy shopping with us

Claudia C: Very good quality meat. I always buy here dry aged steaks and pancetta among other things. The service is exceptional and the staff is very respectful of covid rules.
Response: Thank you Claudia for your review and wonderful comments. See you again soon 👍

Ewelina Kanecka: Great quality meat, that taste delicious. You can taste the difference comparing to meat from supermarkets. Always helpful and very friendly staff. Products worth every penny.
Response: Thank you Ewalina for your 5-star review. We’re delighted that you enjoy what we do 👍

Michelle Bell: Wonderful butchers with great quality meat , their sausages are amazing. Staff are so friendly and helpful. The also do a wide range of products to complement the meat like Italian olive oils and wines. An asset to West Hampstead high Street and the community.
Response: Hi Michelle. Thanks for your post. Very much appreciated. Sorry for the delay. Google isn't always so easy!

diane: So lucky to have this place close by. Great to pick up a treat for yourself during lockdown! Great selection of cheeses, snacks and meats. Someone always says hello and they always give great advice. A very personable and lovely shop!
Response: thank you Diane for your lovely review. We look forward to seeing you again, soon 👍

Harry Heywood: The use of ‘butcher’ in their name is generous, if not entirely deceitful. Any meat I have had that is butchered has had shards of bone in, and the meat is priced to a level that I would expect at least a basic level of butchery The cold meats and cheese selection is however very good, but is somewhat offset by the unsolicited advice given every time I purchase any meat. Apparently my relatively youthful exterior gives me an air of ineptitude, which the staff never fail to capitalise on. I have been offered not only erroneous advice on whether I should be buying smoked or unsmoked pancetta, but also to what the internal temperature of my ribs should be. A butcher normally just deals with the preparation of a carcass, not the cooking. Judging by their ability with the former, I won’t be taking advice on the latter

Shaun Mac Eachen: I bought a medley of their sausages, they were so good l could hear them calling to me a night from the fridge .Great range of cheese, wine and of course some top notch meats. Friendly staff who always seem to be having a bit of banter.
Response: Thank you Shaun for your review. Delighted that you like what we do. See you again soon 👍👍

Baldwins Butchers Ltd London: what do users think?

Carl Dittberner: Bought a topside form here. Was an absolutely rubbish cut. When I unrolled the piece I discovered that I was made up of several pieces stuck together, the fat was not attached to the meat and just tied on. Rather buy from the Brazilian butchers, much better value for money.

Stephen Martin: After phoning several butchers for rose veal for osso buco without luck, Baldwins Butchers Ltd London came up trumps. Beautiful meat cut to order, very helpful and friendly. I also bought a smoked ham hock and French chicken while I was there - both delicious and very good value.

Peter Wassermann: Bit hit and miss this butchers is: bought some great topside there, great ribeye also, though at £40 per kilo that is what I would expect to pay for filet. Recent oxtail purchase was not fresh. Staff not always wearing masks either. Shame really, without much hassle this butchers could be great.

Francesco Lodolo: We have been customers of Baldwins Butchers for more than 10 years.Always smiley and nice guys, great meat and overall great customer experience. They have a great choice of even less common type of meat.Highly recommended and the best in the area.

Manuel Fischer: This is easily the best butcher I know in London. I have been buying there now for three years and simply everything is spot on. the meat for BBQ is amazing (sausages, ribs etc...), you can tell their steaks have been hung for a long while, the chicken is succulent. I could rave on for a while. Last but not least you can get a range of game or cuts you will never find in your supermarket.

Valentina Monaco: Great butcher! The meat is very fresh and the prices are fair.I noticed they also have a website for online shopping but, unfortunately, I have no clue how it works. When I try to add the items to the basket the website keeps asking me to choose the “product options”. But there aren’t product options to choose from…

Ben Bomford: Found the quality of the meet very average and the prices very high. Especially as they cant even provide any traceability such as type of animal which farm etc. If your prepared to pay such prices you are better off making the journey to ginger pig.
