Blue Velvet Shoes: what do users think?

Ana T: Went there today after so long. I bought so many shoes from this shop over the years and i also bring a lot of my friends to buy from them too. The quality is excellent and last for years. The colour never fades. They also have so many beautiful spring/summer colours, as well as the dark colours too. Blue velvet shoes Feel very comfy when wearing. The lady who assisted me today was super kind and helpful, i can’t remember her name although i asked her. Many thanks for the wonderfully service.

sarahjane shopatanna: I love this store.. I have been buying from them for many years. Great Quality.. Really helpfull staff... :)

Giusy: I bought a pair of white leather sneakers for every day casual wear called Alba which are very comfortable and lightweight. They are so stylish and the leather is so soft.Best deal found on sale.

A CDH: Favourite shoe shop in the world

Aneeka Peris: Finally a shop that makes shoes that are not only comfortable but look classy as well ! excellent service too :)

Michelle Ma: Terrible customer service of their admin team, which they start to throw the problem to the customer said that it’s my responsibility to reply while I made a phone call to them

nnierka99: Up to your choice

Agnieszka Grzymkowska: I love this store!

Crispins Shoes: what do users think?

Janet Muswell Hamilton: I’ve been a customer of Crispins since it opened in 1978 and I’m still as thrilled to visit the shop now as I was back then. As a teenager my larger size feet were depressing but Crispins gave me hope. I’m planning my next trip there this weekend and know I will pick up at least one pair of beautiful and comfortable shoes. Prices are comparable with higher quality high street, and what a joy that they will have your size! No pressure from sales people, so browsing is fun too. What are you waiting for?

Joanna Scott: What a game changer for me! Finding Crispíns has meant that I can always find the right shoe for the right occasion. I’m not in London but ordering online is straightforward and delivery is very quick. Needing a large size in shoes used to mean there was very little choice, but no longer! I highly recommend this shop.

G. “GiGi” Gerber: Crispins shoes... Best place in the UK to get stylist shoes for women with 9+ shoe size. I discovered this shop a couple of years ago and I am glad I did. There is so much to choose from every season. Excellent customer experience both in store and online.

Diane Hughes: Crispins Shoes are amazing. I have been a long term customer over many years. All their shoes and boots are very high quality and superb designs. I highly recommend Crispins Shoes.

Madeleine Moore: As a lady with large feet, it can be really difficult to find high-quality shoes in large sizes. Crispins are a real gem in this regard. A fantastic array of both occasion, dressy shoes as well as shoes for the office and every day. I really love the access to large sizes in brands such as Pretty Ballerinas that otherwise it would be nigh-on impossible to find. Cannot recommend Crispins highly enough!

UGG Piccadilly: what do users think?

Phoebe Rendell: Genuinely never had worse shopping customer service. I picked up the shoe I was looking for walked up to a member of staff and before I could even open my mouth to speak she started saying about how it’s the last size and when she actually let me get a word in I then proceeded to say do you have them in kids sizes and she responded, ‘no.. do you not think other people have tried that before you… do you really think you’re the first person to have thought of that,’ As someone who suffers with severe anxiety in these situations that was the worst way anyone could’ve gone about it. Someone needs to talk to there staff so rude!

Marc Walenberg: Very friendly staff, with extensive patience while many people were asking for their size at the same time. Made me so happy that I kept them on, keeping my feet warm while stralling through London 😃

Jas Mary: I bought 390£ stuff mentioning twice! that I am a student, so if she can apply student discount. She (dark skin lady) said yeah no prob 10%. When I paid I was in rush so I just paid and left. When I checked the bill 390£…Thanks for the student discount! Terrible! Happened on the 23rd November 2022! I will probably walk in the store and complain about it

Deborah Goldweis: It was a busy Saturday evening and the staff were efficient. I found what I needed and my size straight away. They were also very helpful at the till and I was able to use Klarna in store

Katia Stas: 4 members of staff where only one lady is doing all the work. Ive asked to get a different size from an employee, she looked at me like she doesn’t work here and asked her colleague to deal with my request. In the end they had no sizes there. Super rude and unwelcoming staff

OguzCan Manaz: The staff was very aggressive. we just bought shoes and left. We asked something afraid. It does not suit this brand at all. Employees should definitely receive training.

Nadim Chidiac: Just like other shoppers we met there, we came to Piccadilly specifically for the UGG store, under the rain, only to be met by the worst bunch of shop attendants. The worst customer service ever. We got there at 17:23, well knowing that the store closes at 18;00, and the staff decided to close the store early. They refused to open the doors and were very rude to us. Not the kind of service one would expect in London.

Charlie EE: It’s the same happened to me as well. I came because it is said till 8pm open, and now it’s 6.30pm. They didn’t let me in because they had to close today earlier. It’s really bad customer service. Many customers claimed to front there door.

Beatrice Masci: A particular shop that sells particular colored and confortable shoes for people who want to be able to walk without suffering.

Bronwen C: Very busy shop on 26 Nov, queued to get in but once there, found Aaliya, friendly yet efficient lady who found what I was after. Thank you!

Clarks: what do users think?

Maizatul Akma: The staff were so helpful during my boots selection process. They cater for my needs and let me try em comfortably at my own pace. Again, I went there on a weekday with lesser crowd and much more chillax environment. Clarks never disappoint me yet. Gonna buy more from them!

Chris Lee: Came for online order collection. The staff received me was extremely rude. When I asked for my pair, she asked me the order number. So I started telling her the number. But she interrupted me immediately and rudely, insisting to look at my phone screen. It’s like “ordering” her customer to do things for her. This is the worst customer service I’ve experienced and the staff in Clark’s shop on Tottenham Court Road is way better than this person. She has to be retrained or sacked for such bad attitude. Please remember “never ever command your customers cos they are your customers”.

Cara L: Salesperson Lukman ignored me for several times when asking for shoes, gave me an attitude and talked to me like I am going to steal something. But was nice to white people when he answered their questions. I did not spend so much money on this kind of service. His attitude not only ruins my shopping experience but also damages the reputation of Clarks. It is totally unacceptable to treat customers differently just because of their skin color.

Susan Dickinson: There was a time when there was actually customer service. Alas no more. After placing an order for sandals which when I got home found wide width had been ordered. I duly rang and cancelled and found no refund had still been actioned 4 wks later. Tried to call store and it rang and rang, no answer. I had to ring Customer services to get it actioned. Is this why more and more shops are closing!!!

Danomi Sowi: Worst customer service ever among all Clarks store I have ever been to. First time being called a ‘lier’ in my whole life giving the fact they lied three times to me when I was in store. Blaming customers for unhappy experience and proudly saying ‘I found the excuse using your word so you won’t get anything’. Very rude to customers and say ‘that’s how we treat our customers’. Highly recommend to go to other Clarks stores.

Khaled Sabbah: There are many branches in London,, that is one of them ,, this store has a very good collection but a little bit expensive,, there is another store for Clark’s ,, you can find it on internet with the name (Clarks original) ,, it’s in a sub street from Oxford street ,, it has a wonderful fashionable collection,, but the prices are high to,,

Ali Mahmood: Amazing service by Jihan, very patient and went above and beyond to make sure we were able to get the products we need. Made it a very personable and pleasurable experience.

Carl Griffith: I bought a pair of shoes, but was very unhappy because in the sale the same pair of shoes, one tan in colour the other dark blue, was a £15 difference, the tan was the cheapest.

Timberland Retail London Oxford Street: what do users think?

Cnangle Nangle: Such a lovely shopping experience. The dark handsome salesman was so helpful and polite, rushing to the storeroom to get a boot in my size to try on so that I could purchase the ones that I wanted online. I bought some for my husband, I just wanted to buy something from this great person!

C G (Gilzy): Do not waste your time. I have had two orders cancelled without explanation. On both occasions I checked the site and the particular shoe is readily available in my chosen colour and size. Totally unacceptable and completely professional.

Tope Olayinka: The staff were lovely, manager included and I didn’t feel the pressure to buy anything. When it was time to buy, I was offered a discount and the correct products to look after my new boots. All in all a great experience 😊

Irshad Khan: Good collection. Caught it just in time for Black Friday sale. Plus they offered 10% on top for registering with them.

D. W.: A smaller, one floor store (as opposed to the Regent street branch, which has two floors). Helpful and patient staff who are happy to give recommendations as to product longevity, aftercare products and material quality of the footwear themselves.

Ali: If you want to buy clothes better go to another timberland store, this store doesn’t have a trying room. Well it’s more of a shoe store anyway ,, but I did end up buying a shirt. It’s a cute shop with super nice employees

Deependra Magarde: Ekiel from timberland Oxford street was really helpful in trying d shoes. Amazing experience.

Shoban Shan: The gentleman who claims to be the store manager thinks he owns Timberland worldwide to pitch out new purchase & return policies and not bothered to accept or respect customers’ decision towards item disinterest within the 30 days return period. Voided my return item and reason for 6 days. I think he’s a scam to the high segment market and his aggressiveness while dealing this matter couldn’t be tolerated. Avoid your time with the slightly aged, more than average tanned complexion, lean person to have a better experience as the customer in this store.

The British Boot Company: what do users think?

Szabolcs Szili: Hi Bootlovers! I have got this pair of Vintage Gladiator Beauties today. High quality proper British shoes & boots in this tiny, stylish shop. Nick is very helpful guy who sold this nice one for me. Highly recommended shop anyone who likes quality made, durable and stylish shoes & boots. Thank You

Belliott: This has got to be one of my favourite stores in London, or maybe in the whole world. It’s a small independent family-run business with an amazingly wide selection of boots. The moment I stepped into the store I felt very welcomed by the two lads. The selection they have is amazing and they sell some awesome rare vintage pairs. Nick is very knowledgeable and passionate about boots, which clearly shows. He was helpful and provided excellent personal care, attention and advice. I was looking for a pair of black Solovairs, but one of them was just a tiny bit too tight. Nick was kind enough to put it in a stretcher for a few minutes, which made a world’s difference. I’ve just purchased the perfect boot. Thanks again for the help and expertise. I will definitely come back again!
Response: Hi Belliott, Thank you for leaving a great review! It was our pleasure to help you find best pair of shoes. We're glad you had a great experience! It's important for us that the customer walks out of the shop with shoes they are very happy with. You are very welcome any time in our shop in Camden Town! :)

Tanori Group: Came in to the store via a recommendation, left it with a pair of stompers that are one of a kind! Would have left with another pair, but sizes were limited. Colin was amazing! He meticulously took me through several pairs of shoes, walked me through my paces (pun intended 😁), extremely knowledgeable, and we eventually landed on probably the best Docs I have ever owned. Once I put them on, the leather hugged against my feet and ankles. They were so comfortable! I have worn Docs and Solovair since 91, and have gone through my standard pairs and colors, but hands down, these are my favorites. The custom and vintage selection is solid. Sizes vary, so this is hit or miss, but the selection is desirable. I came in from L.A. so If one can make it to the store, I highly recommended it, such a great experience. Looking at a few other pairs online, as well as, will be heading back in to the store sometime later this year for another pair or two!
Response: Thanks for your amazing review, we hope you're enjoying your very rare Vintage Dr martens. Hope to see you again in the shop later on in the year. All the best Nick.

Michael & Kristine paulsen: I have been a loyal Dr Marten wearer for over 30 years and it has always been a dream of mine to someday visit the British Boot Company in London. I have two adult Children that are now loyal to the Dr Marten brand along with Solovair. My Wife and Daughter came to London 8 years ago and purchased a pair of Solovair’s for me that I still wear to this day. Flash forward to 2022 my Wife and I planned a trip to London, on my to do list was to visit the British Boot Company and purchase a pair of Made in England Dr Martens. When we arrived they had just opened and we were the first customers of the day, the gentleman working was beyond helpful and knowledgeable and was willing to look through the store and basement for the right size for me as I have big feet so finding a pair in my size is difficult. 5 minutes in the basement and he re-emerged with a pair of vintage NOS Red Dr Martens, perfect size, in fact they are identical to a pair I had outgrown as a young adult, some would say it was meant to be! I would highly recommend that if you are a hardcore Dr Marten lover to visit the British Boot Company. Nothing but Love for this place and I will be back.
Response: wow Michael & Kristine, thank you! that was a very kind review. We're trying our best as a small family business. It's great to hear that you had a five-star experience purchasing vintage Dr Martens! The knowledge that it meets our shop fan's standards means the world to us. We look forward to seeing you again!

Edward Goldstein: This shop not only has vintage boots made in England the experience shopping there was amazing. You tell them what you are looking for and they come back with amazing boots. Like they got into the deepest recess of your mind and found not what you said but what you didn’t know existed. 3 of us walked in with only 1 wanting a pair and 3 of us left with a pair and 1 with 2 pairs. I will fly back to shop here! From CA

Brett Adams: This place is awesome and I love it. I luckily stumbled on it visiting London for the first time. Authentic is the best way to describe it. Nick helped me pick out a pair of original gripfast steel toe shoes that were apparently 1 of 12 pairs made in this beautiful burgundy rub off color. I can’t speak highly enough about the shop or the shoes I bought. I can’t wait to get back, but in the meantime they ship to the US so hell yes for British Boot Company.
Response: Hi Brett, it’s great to hear from you again, glad you’re loving your Burgundy Rub off 3 hole Gripfast shoes, they’re pretty awesome aren’t they? It was myself who sold them to you in the shop the other week, really nice meeting you guys and chatting. If you’re ever in town again please stop by for a catch up, looking forward to seeing you again soon, all the best Nick Roumana.

James Chapman: I have been a customer of this store for over 12 years. Meaning I have actually been in there about 5 times. (and have been meaning to write this review for years…) Why so few times? Because the boots are fantastically hard wearing. I wear Grinders Motorcycle boots nearly every day and each pair lasts me 2-4 years. They do need to be re-soled/heeled every 6-12 months (depending on wear) but the core boot is solid. Unlike any number of cheap knock-offs which are glued together rather than stitched and will entirely fall apart these will maintain. And, as per the Samuel Vimes “Boots theory”, the initial outlay will save money over time. And they will give you fine advice on how to keep and care for them. As such I rock up every few years to replace my boots (I generally have two pair on the go- a “dress pair” and a “working” pair. When the later finally gives up the ghost the dress become working and I get a new pair), if you know what you want it is worth phoning up in advance to ensure they have your size in- if not they can order it in. The only place to find such quality products. Recommended.

AL GARDNER: The expertise of the staff & quality of the products make this the go to shop in London for quality, British made footwear. Step back in time and speak to shop employees whom are helpful, personal and of course knowledgeable, you can feel they are doing the job they love and that enthusiasm is priceless to me, the consumer. I personally dealt with Colin , he selected the prefect size for me in the most beautiful boots I’ve owned for a long long time. However, I had the pleasure of speaking to Nick, the owner also, again the enthusiasm and dedication, well we can all learn from these guys, second to none. If I was you I would be heading to this shop asap because if you love boots , your missing out on something if you don’t visit these guys.

S Pots: I left the store with this amazing pair of gripfast shoes. One of a kind 90s stock! Nick was really helpful and passionate about all the shoes. He could tell a lot about each brands backstory. It was a lovely experience and I will definitely come back here.

ALDO Shoes: what do users think?

Fatima: Don’t shop there, it’s not safe.My phone got stolen at Aldo yesterday, they said they don’t have cameras, JUST HOW? Also the team made me feel what happened to me was so normal and it happens everyday.

exquisite shoe wholesaler: Order, affordable, work together

Steve Hunter: Bought shoes for work and for one of the first times decided to treat myself to some ‘better quality’ shoes from a ‘better brand’. Shoes fell apart within a month. Customer services very unhelpful. If you are going to buy shoes from Aldo make sure you do so online, they won’t last any longer, but they might be half interested in trying to help with your return.

Neelamraj Singh: Had bad experience at store as staffs are very rude to customers.

Marek matuszak: Great service!! Special Thank you for Kornelia! I am very happy with purchasing...

Adil Khan: Yesterday my cousion buy shoe for my wife from aldo lahore she dont like it and we contact to aldo for refund and refuse to refund bad customer service they dont know how to speak customer shop guy say to if we do refund customer anytime customer come ask for refund any shoe shop in world they do refund first time i face this kind of problem in my life if this company that they have listen to customer problem yesterday i call customer service explain them problem and they not help as i keep explaining and he cut my call saying he cant ear me what a joke they should do refund than customer happily come back to shop and buy items

Hristo Zlatarev: Top location, friendly staff. Walked in with defective Aldo shoes on which I had bought online. Explained the situation to the staff and two friendly girls immediately took care of it. Brought out a few pairs of the same shoes for me to check and try. I took one, slipped into them and walked off. As simple as that!

Church's London Regent St.: what do users think?

Rogier Holla: I was in for an unpleasant surprise. I have owned over 20 bespoke Church’s shoes 👞 over the years. This Summer I wanted to buy another pair, but the price had tripled (!) and gone from expensive but worth the quality to seriously overpriced. New shoes different from the traditional models. It seems Church’s is abandoning its honest workmanship and tries to reinvent itself as a luxury fashion brand

Fida Isaji: Great store. Advice is suberb and Im glad I went to the store rather than ordering online. Crockett & Jones near by.

Zestyut: Really good customer service. But It’s interesting that if the shoes are handmade in Northampton, the price has gone up £200 over last year. In the sale (30% off) a pair of shoes was £500. The same pair 2 years ago in a half-price sale was £250.

Teresa Griffith: My dh loves their shoes. Bought a couple of pairs of loafers in the sale. Their sandals were one of only 13 pairs unsold worldwide, which meant they would not be going in the sale. He snapped them up anyway - and is in love with them!

Valentina Genualdi: My first England shoes

Pierre Rousseau: The worst customer service you can imagine. Shop assistant sits on her phone with her feet almost on the counter. Make no attempt to help or get up. Truly bad!

Khaled Sabbah: Has a unique models, very very good collection, very different models with very pretty Colors

Jand A: Staff are useless and don’t care at all, the first time there was some small celeb who was in there and the staff ignored me to talk to this guy. I was so fed up I just walked out. The second time I went in, the staff were more interested in chatting to their friends about where they’re going out that night rather than me who was waiting there like a lemon trying to buy a pair of shoes. Needless to say I didn’t bother buying anything.

Blake Parkinson: Was served by a guy called Harry who was brilliant! Super helpful and offered his opinion on a pair of shoes I could decided between.

Chris Taylor: Younger guy in there very chilled and good sense of humour. Got a great range of Clark’s Originals as expected from the name. No fuss.

John Richard Hewitt: Monty was fantastic. Great service.

Eltego Mcparker: Shopped there twice... Met Ed today, knows his Clarks....

Deniz Dervish: Fantastic service. The boys are great

Red Wing Shoe Store: what do users think?

Ben Nicholson: I had been looking at Iron Rangers for some time, but was unsure about sizing after reading online etc and wanted to be cautious with my purchase. So I went in store, and within 2 minutes the shop assistants had kindly measured my size and found a very comfortable fit. Excellent store, really glad I came!
Response: Great having you visit us Ben enjoy your boots

Henry Whittington: Ok, the boots are good; worth every penny and last forever, if you take care of them right. But just buy them online. The staff here are rubbish, have zero energy and are apparently not at all interested in what they sell. I can see all the boots online, buy them all online, I just dropped into the shop is to get a little more information or help with a choice. But nope: one word answers, total lack of engagement, and a snooty attitude. I went in fully prepared to spend £300 on a pair of boots, I left five minutes later having spent nothing. Way to sell, Red Wing.

Konrad Skura: Super positive shopping experience, had a nice chat with the lads, got all my questions answered and happily walked out with a pair of Iron Rangers. It was definitely worth traveling all the way there. Highly recommended!
Response: Thank you Konrad enjoy your boots

Oleksiy Anokhin: I bought 3 pairs here within last 12 months (Iron Ranger, Moc Toe, Blacksmith). A solid store with a good choice. The guy there is a bit grumpy :), but nobody is perfect :). Will likely buy my fourth pair there again :)

Jeff Atkinson: Bought a pair of Moc toes today.Knowledgeable & friendly young lady who dealt with me.Great boots. Thankyou for everything.
Response: Thank you Jeff glad you enjoyed your experience with Belle and the Red Wing Team

Thomas Ewart: I bought a pair of Iron Rangers from the shop (highly recommend going in and trying on, I had to size down a whole size), and received fantastic and knowledgeable service. Upon returning home (Scotland) had an issue with one of the boots so contacted the shop. James, the store manager picked this up and everything resolved promptly and with constant communications. Perfect! Outstanding boots and outstanding service.
Response: Thank you Thomas enjoy your boots

Rob Escott: Let me start by saying a "MASSIVE THANK YOU" to Charlie!!! Thank you for sorting everything out for me, I really do appreciate it!!! The staff at the shop are amazingly friendly, helpful, polite and professional!! Especially Charlie, who I already mentioned, top bloke!!! The boots are of superb quality, very durable and look fantastic!!! I have a few pairs of Red Wing boots and they really are top notch!! They are definitely worth the extra bit of cash, you will end up saving yourself money with the durability and longevity of these excellent boots from a great reliable company!!! Thanks again guys!!! Rob.

Lorraine Davies: Fabulous courteous old fashioned service- the way it should be! Helpful, polite and friendly, took the trouble to help us thoroughly, making sure we were happy with our purchase, the fit, style and colour of the shoes. Top quality all leather brogues, even offering a re soling service upon request. Assistant was extremely knowledgeable, measuring ones foot correctly and presenting different sizes without complaint. Not pretentious as some can be- made to feel welcome and valued. Extremely well made footwear , we are very pleased indeed and will return for further colours in the same style. Most comfortable well fitting shoes we have purchased for my sons awkward shaped feet! Very thoughtful assistant even polished them for us before expertly packing them in the stylish box. Five star service and products, well worth the money spent.

Zhu Qiang: I bought a pair of shoes in this shop. The lady in this shop is very nice. However, I want to say my experience is not very well, as the quality of the shoes was not as good as it is supported to be, considering its price. Hence, I went to the shop three times to exchange a good pair. Anyway. The lady is quite nice, she may be the primary reason I give 4 stars for this shop.

Sanat Misra: Excellent service. I had my old shoes refurbished that have come back as new. I had a couple of requests including the addition of a double sole - Ilaria at the store was very helpful at the store and got this done for me. Thank you!

John Hellinikakis: Good service and nice shopping environment. But shoe prices have risen 40% in the last few months and are now poor value.

Church's London Brompton Road: what do users think?

Rogier Holla: I was in for an unpleasant surprise. I have owned over 20 bespoke Church’s shoes 👞 over the years. This Summer I wanted to buy another pair, but the price had tripled (!) and gone from expensive but worth the quality to seriously overpriced. New shoes different from the traditional models. It seems Church’s is abandoning its honest workmanship and tries to reinvent itself as a luxury fashion brand

Kristen Belt: Helpful employees and beautiful selection of high quality shoes!

Leonor Coyle: I want to provide a five star review for Ruben at the Knightsbridge store. He was so wonderful assisting me long distance in my attempt to find a pair of Kelsey Sandals sold out in my size on line. He communicated with me throughout his efforts to find them at another store (currently closed) and was always so polite, courteous and warm. Thank you Ruben! Leonor Coyle

Frederick C. Guzman: This is one of my favorite shoe shops as they offer a very good selection and good designs.

Nathanael Macdonald: Great customer service and the best shoes in England

Dean Robinson: Friendly staff and excellent quality shoes

benoit grocq: Rude, unprofessional staff, even buying a pair of shoes. A shame for a store of this standing.

Sanders x John Rushton Shoes: what do users think?

Daniel Quantrell: This is what a shoe shop should be like - after years of trying to find good shoes elsewhere I have always been disappointed with the craftmanship of what I have purchased, which I can understand when buying a cheap shoe, however many retailers charge high prices for a shoe which is poorly constructed and uses poor quality materials. I purchased a pair of boots from John in March of this year and, whilst being pricey - you most certainly get what you pay for - excellent craftmanship from long standing suppliers sold by folks who know everything about their products. 9 months on and I could not be happier with the purchase and am certain that these boots will outlast me. In the long run, with proper care as advised from John, these will certainly work out cheaper than what is sold on the high street. 100% satisfied with every aspect of my purchase and, should I require any other footwear going forward, John will most certainly be my first port of call.

Dermot McLaughlin: Will never send you wrong, bought my first pair from him in 2005, still wear them. He sold me a lovely pair of AE beefroll loafers which I lost along the way....much regretted. No longer live in the UK and somwish I had access to a shop of this quality.

R M: This shop is a gem, I love it! The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and really care about quality shoes. They take their time to educate you about how to look after shoes so they last. I’ve never had anyone to teach me these things and ruined my first pair of quality shoes recently. I wish I had found this place earlier. I’ll only buy shoes from here from now on ! All the shoes in this shop are stylish and the place have a nice vibe about it. Best shoe shop in London!

Mitch Zyke: Very high quality shoe store, with a professional, knowledgeable and friendly staff. I spent a half hour talking with the owner, John, about shoe care, construction, and quality. It was quite an education. Next time I visit, I will most definitely buy a pair of shoes! ( my size was out of stock!!) but

Guy Trezona: One of the last remaining proper shoe shops in London. John is a wonderful man who knows his business inside out, and is a delight to talk to! Better advice cannot be found anywhere.

Jan Bass: I presume that buying in shop may very well be fine, but ordering something is rather hazardous. The fun I have had with Mr. Rushton himself is beyond comprehension. During my first order, I managed to receive: wrong shoes in the size I ordered and subsequently, the right shoes in a wrong size. And then a refund because I had enough. I did not manage to receive any compensation for the return shipping I had to pay and most of my e-mails were ignored. The whole thing took several months. During my second order, I went for two pairs of Cheaneys to try which fits better. One was fine but the pair that did fit better was missized (although the shoes were marked the same size, one was built on a smaller last). Quality control. Sent back both, nothing happened. Once again, nobody was answering my e-mails (although in the meantime, Mr. Rushton managed to assure me that this would, quote "Never happen again, I promise"), so I went for the phone. Eventually, after several calls urging them to send the replacement (it took a month or two, although the shipping is a matter of days) I received the correct shoes. What I failed to receive was a refund for the other pair that I had returned. A million telephone calls and e-mails later (Mr. Rushton ensures me that everything will be dealt with right away every time over the phone), I still do not have my money. It is more than half a year now since I returned my original order and although I still try, nothing happens. I suspect that the only reason I received a refund for my first order was that I had paid through Paypal, which offers an option to report a transaction... Oh well.

Crockett & Jones, 92 Jermyn Street: what do users think?

Adam King: Every time I go in here I have to withstand a really tedious hard sell from the shop assistant. On and on they go. This is supposed to be a top-end, high quality place. Give it a rest with the pushy, low-calibre salesmanship. Really puts me off going in, or buying anything.

Trillion Dollar: Picked up a velvet pair for the holidays. Salutation to Muji for her great insights, and dedication.

Gay Goat: Usually I get a good service with quality shoes. Today I got a terrible service and the shoes were damaged!! They gave me some story of this is how they come!! Absolutely disgusted!

Tanya Tsukrova: Bought a pair of shoes for my husband and received outstanding service. The consultant was extremely knowledgeable and helped us to make the right choice. The rest of the staff was very lovely too. Would recommend the store to anyone in a heartbeat, will be coming back for a pair of Chelsea boots for myself later.

Emilien Arnold: Outstanding service. I somehow got a small cut in my chelseas and thought I would go in for advice on how to fix it. Popped by and they immediately offered a complimentary repair, which was done within a few days. That is how you get loyal customers.

Farhoud Kazemi: Great shoes there are 2 Crocket and jones in jermyn street the big one very bad service and stuck up staff didnt even come to help so i walked out and spent my money in the smaller one great staff and much better service

Steven Hines: Great service and beautiful shoes. One of the very few independent shoe makers who take the time to distinguish and describe their different lasts, and use those to help fit shoes. The shoes themselves are very finely made and very comfortable. Bought a pair of boots last time and they felt great in my feet from the start. Service is excellent: attentive and helpful. Worth every penny.

David Head: One of the finest English shoe makers. Great store and great staff. Beautiful shoes.

Laurence Green: One of my favourite stores in London - they really are the best place to go if you want quality footware. The level of service here is impeccable and the staff are always incredibly attentive and responsive to your needs as a customer. They really make you feel valued and will offer fantastic advice. This is a brand that really cares about making a lifelong connection with a customer and I can guarantee once you buy one pair from them you will be back for more.
