Sew It With Love: what do users think?

D S: Danuta is an excellent teacher. Clear whole class explanations and very good individual attention. And she is a lovely person whose pleasure in sharing her skills is clear. My wife was delighted with her new skirt!! Thank you!

Marybeth “Embers” Ali: Really helpful class, Danuta was patient & knowledgeable.

James Peters: I attended the Complete Beginners Course in April 2023. It was fantastic! Brianna, the tutor, was really knowledgable and able to explain things in a clear way. The course totally demystified the world of sewing and I came away feeling I had learned a new skill. I can't wait to learn more and have booked another course in May.

Gabriella Krite: I did the "complete beginner's sewing course" with Danuta. Really enjoyed it. Danuta was a great an patient teacher. Learned things very quickly and we got stuck in straight away.

Li Tan: Helpful tips and interactive class. Highly recommended it.

Magdalena S: I’d highly recommend this place to anyone who would like to learn how to sew or needed help with their personal project like myself. I’ve originally enrolled to Essential Alternation course which left me knowing how to alter my trousers, change zips etc. After enjoying the classes I’ve booked few 1-1 sessions with Danuta and honestly can’t recommend her enough. During our time together not only I was able to gain necessary skills to finish the project I was working on but also left with the enormous amount of knowledge. Danuta is incredibly skilled and always does her best to help you make the product the way you’ve imagined. On top of that she is a very patient and encouraging tutor. These classes were probably the best investment I’ve made in awhile!

Nu: Had my first sewing session yesterday and Donica was an absolute star! I’m a complete beginning with zero sewing experience and Donica guided us through the entire process of using a sewing machine. I had a lot of fun and I can now confidently say that sewing isn’t that daunting once you get the hang of it! I can’t wait to show my nan what I made 🤩

Femke Strietman: , and it's also in a lovely creative space. Would 100% recommend!

Amy Murphy: The perfect course. I learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed it. Each step was so clear and Joana have individual attention to every person throughout.

Márcia Dias: Great sewing courses, friendly and patient tutors. Would definitely recommend Sew It With Love if you want to start sewing.

Neha Jaiswal: Enjoyed every minute of COMPLETE BEGINNERS SEWING COURSE .Joanna was so helpful, clear with her instructions and patiently answered all the queries !Definitely a must try if you are thinking of taking up Sewing.

Nicola O'Shaughnessy: I have just completed the weekend beginners class, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I entered as a complete beginner having not used a sewing machine for 35 years, and by the end of the weekend I had made a cushion cover, tote bag and a skirt. Our guide for the course was Joana, and she was a wonderful teacher. I will be booking further classes in order to expand on the skills I have learnt, and am in the process of buying my own sewing machine. Cannot wait to continue this sewing journey. Highly recommend. If you’re thinking about it, go on and treat yourself you won’t regret it.

Candida Flowers: Brilliant course. I really feel my skills have improved so much during the course. Danuta was incredibly patient and extremely knowledgeable and as the class size is small she could help all of us individually. Thank you

Aurelia Specker: and I really enjoyed it! The pace of the class is well suited for complete beginners, as well as for those who already have a little sewing experience. It was very satisfying to make a button down cushion, a tote bag, and a skirt in just two days. The skirt fits well and I am very happy with it. Rehana took the time to explain everything in detail and provided 1:1 support to everyone on the course. I would recommend it!

Saturday Sewing Session: what do users think?

K Dixon: Had a great introductory sewing class with Rehana, who was an excellent tutor. She was very patient and managed to convey a lot of complex information in a coherent fashion. I feel inspired to sew, but I definitely need a lot more practice! It was great that we all came away with a gorgeous make up bag that we could say we made at the end of it.

Jenny O'Connor: This just popped up on my feed.Had an amazing sewing basics workshop 7 years ago and still love sewing to this day ! Thanks!

Bogan Bingo: Bought a class for my wife and she loved it! Very friendly and helpful.

Alex Elgar: I have now done 2 short courses with Arianna - the class size is so small that you practically get 1-1 tuition, Arianna is lovely, her studio is fab. I really loved these courses and will hopefully be going back for more!

Marta Rossi: I loved the total beginner bootcamp! Our teacher Rehana was super nice and patient - having gone there with zero clue on how to even thread a needle, I came away with a few pretty items I made myself including PJ bottoms. I'd definitely love to take more classes there once I have more experience!

Annemarie Campbell: Hi I have ringing and emailing you. I need to inquire about sewing lessons. Is there an alternative contact number or email? Best wishes thanks

E: A really great day of learning, a nice group of people and Arianna is a brilliant teacher - I would highly recommend doing one!

Florence Diss: 2 hours in and I have a gorgeous dress for my 3year old despite being a complete beginner. What satisfaction after spending all day behind a pc. Thank you SSS for your amazing skills and patience.

Melissa Mercer: but the teaching is excellent and I came out with the most gorgeous dress which I actually wear and LOVE! Will have to book again for the cushions in time for Christmas. Thanks so much!

Ellaine Bedford: Love the studio and the classes.

Tony Rutherford: I bought this for my wife as a pressie and she loved it! The customer service was brilliant and they went above and beyond to make the day really lovely. Excellent and she nailed the sewing!!

Alex Birtles: Amazing session with the lovely Joelle learning to make cushions. Small, personal and lots of fun, came away feeling confident with my new skill plus a lovely cushion I'd made. Will be booking to go back in 2016 to learn to make piped cushions.

Rebecca Lovegrove: I left Arianna's studio feeling inspired and confident to carry on and try new projects on my own! Really recommend this class. Thanks for a great day. Rebecca

Sew Pretty - Sewing Classes & Courses: what do users think?

PJ: Really enjoyed my class today, Katya was great. Looking forward to going back to more classes.

Gina Wiley: Had such a lovely class!!! I did the beginners course and I bought a sewing machine. So proud of what we made and the studio is beautiful. Recommend to anyone learning !

Lubna SA: My daughter attended a birthday party here and she really loved it.

Angelique Rathmann: Such a great place to learn how to sew. Had the best time at the beginners class and immediately signed up for the intermediate class. Great atmosphere and very good learning techniques! Highly recommend this place no matter the age!

Simon: cushion cover. Lovely garden workshop setting and hospitality. Thank you.

Virginia Utley: I attended a wonderful lesson on making a Roman blind. So satisfying coming away with the sample blind I had made. Really clear instruction from Katya with follow up notes. I highly recommend this fun and helpful class.

Tara Chasteau: I've been wanting to have some lessons for ages and was lucky enough to have received some Sew Pretty Vouchers for Christmas.I had enough for a 4 hour private lesson and it was a totally fabulous afternoon. I'm a sort of intermediate beginner and wanted to learn some bits and bobs and Katya allowed me to pick and choose, demonstrated techniques, guided me when I was practising and all in all I left desperate to get home and try out all of my skills. I'm already planning a return for one of the soft furnishings classes. Thank you so much - A truly wonderful afternoon.

Robyn Taylor: Katya was the perfect choice for my wedding dress adjustments. She did a great job with adjusting the hem of my wedding dress and customised another dress with my leftover cuttings of the dress lace. I’m so happy with both dresses! She made everything easy and was reasonable with the price. Would recommend to others and contact again for future needs! Thank you!

Sharon: Sew Pretty have amazing classes. Katya is such a wonderful, patient, knowledgable teacher. I throughly enjoy her classes and highly recommended Sew Pretty.

Stacey Collett: My daughter attended the kids sewing club today and she has not stopped talking about it since the second I picked her up. She had the best day, made three sewing projects and is absolutely thrilled with herself! I bought this as her birthday present and I’m so glad I did! Thank you so much for helping me give her the best gift! ❤️

Ellie Lucy: Amazing 4 weeks on the Sew Complete course. I progressed from not being able to navigate a sewing machine to being able to make a cushion cover, skirt, and I have even begun making clothing for my dog to keep her warm. I also met some lovely ladies and it became a lovely Wednesday evening activity which I'll miss! Thank you Sophie and Katya for your guidance and I'll be getting some classes in the diary to continue progressing my sewing skills!

Hannah Taylor: Had an hour online one-to-one class. Although it was a short amount of time, the class was super useful! Katya was prepared and could guide me around my machine and accessories even from afar. She shared a lot of advice and approaches. A great one off gift for a sewing beginner and I'd definitely be interested in further classes.

Debsi Doos: Signed up for the stretchy dress and enjoyed myself so much I went on to do the trousers then the channel jacket, which all came out great.Learning from Kataya is wonderful, she is so patient, but firm and really explains the whys and whatnots. This experience has inspired me and given me confidence, and you get to meet some lovely people and have a laugh too. Also had Sophie teach one lesson to cover for Kataya, who was also lovely and a good teacher. I love that the classes are small as it seems more one to one and we all learn at the same pace.

Elizabeth Fauconnier-Bank: Katya kindly squeezed me in with short notice to help alter my wedding dress after my wedding had been postponed a couple of times. She altered the length and darts plus added an extra button and hook & eye to make the dress feel extra secure. All done on time and really happy with the final results, thank you!

Julia Baggott: I was given a sewing machine as a gift but was totally stuck on where to start with using it, so I signed up on a whim for a month of beginner’s classes. Katya is a wonderful teacher and the class provides a great atmosphere to learn with a few others but few enough that you can always get 1:1 attention when you need it.Once I’d finished the first one, I immediately signed up for the intermediate class which I’m enjoying even more. I’d thoroughly recommend to anyone looking to get started ❤️

Alexandra Logan: Katya was a fantastic teacher, the class was a lovely environment and we all helped each other to produce the most wonderful pjs. Feeling a lot more confident with my sewing, and going to continue to take Sew Pretty classes to upskill.

Jenny Stobbs: Katya fitted my wedding dress and did an incredible job. This included securing/fixing beading, changing the cleavage, moving cups, shortening and taking in.Highly recommend!

M I: Katya is an amazing teacher. She tailored the class to my needs and covered all details of the blind making process in just 3h, explaining different types of finish and fabrics, which would work well for my particular project. I highly recommend Katya, and I truly enjoyed my time at her cozy sewing studio. Nice place to learn.

Eloise H: Brilliant here! Highly recommend.

Aneta: I was today...very friendly and professional place. Katya tutor answered so many questions. She had a helpful hand all time. Really recommend. Thank you

Helen Mayor: Great place, lovely staff! Had becki and she was excellent. She explained everything and was very patient! Will definitely go back for more lessons!

Stephanie K: Good atmosphere, friendly and relaxed. The teacher was also very helpful and of great help, learning was easy and taught in a nice and detail way.i did the beginner course as an introduction and really loved it.i will recommend

Ray Stitch: what do users think?

ROAR FITNESS HEALTH: to ensure my project came out as I wanted.I arrived to the class, with my organza cut for the dress making class. A bit of a risk, but she put me at ease and I felt anything was possible. Giving myself additional work - slightly diverting from the project, she was more than happy to show me additional skills including French seams and bindings.If I could i would be there every day!Cups of tea and coffee flowed, I felt more like I was at a mates house gossiping. However we all got our heads down and pushed through a good 9 hrs sewing session.I’ll 100% be back and already shared the love with sew ;

Jennifer Powell: I attended the one day 'Pattern Cutting with Alice Prier - Perfect Fit Trousers Block' course. As an intermediate sewer, I had disastrous results making trousers in the past, but found this course to be excellent. It was like being let into the 'Magic Circle' world of pattern cutting secrets, which turned out to be not that difficult and not that secret! Alice is an excellent tutor and I ended the course with a perfectly fitting trouser block and the knowledge to use the pattern to make many styles of trousers in the future.

Nicole Barrah: Lovely little craft shop with a good range of fabric and haberdashery

Gillian Spark: Beautiful range of fabric and superb service - very fast delivery

Alex Mai Thanh Nhan: Lovely sewing class with a really helpful teacher

NICK J: Incredible store with lots and lots of fabrics, patterns, sewing essentials. Well worth visiting

Felix Russell: Phenomenal range of sewing patterns. Super nice staff. Excellent atmosphere. Will come back many times I'm sure

Lex Wood: Just love this store ! Great selection of fabrics, and haberdashery - and helpful and friendly staff ...

Nikola Sariyski: A great selection of fabrics. Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. There are sewing classes hosted on the premises which gives it a nice buzz. Lots of trims and patterns available as well. Some of the patterns are made up to try on/ check out before purchasing which I thought was great. Fabric swatches are available in packs all over the place which can be super helpful when looping for a fabric pairing or when patch-working like in my case. Definitely worth the trip from south London.

Kate Redman: Fabulous class. Would highly recommend. Plan to book myself onto the 6 week course

Lisa Farrell: from the beautiful fabric and pattern I purchased at Ray and Stitch in July. I am so happy with the quality. And to the woman

cheekyhandmades: what do users think?

Jean Kitson: Excellent teacher, and a lovely space to learn new skills in a very relaxed and inclusive way.

Number 32: Highly recommended, she fixed my machines after being told by machine repair shops that it wasn't possible! Two of my Bernina machines were running without any input from the pedal. Texted Cheeky Handmades who replied saying that it was a quick fix - and she wasn't wrong. She fixed them both in an hour, serviced them, fixed a blown fuse, and replaced missing parts, all for £90 together.Really friendly with great customer service; I love her philosophy of repairing old machines and delivering on that philosophy. It's been a couple months and both machine are still working perfectly. Thank you Cheeky Handmades!

Dave Raval: Really kind and friendly, Jennie gave me advice on how to fix a Frister Rossman Cub4 and introduced me to the best local repair shop for the job. Highly recommended, lovely person and skilled too.

Saneesha McNairn: Absolutely Amazing

María Teresa Lussón Santos: Really thankful to Jennie. Very friendly and she is a genius with sewing machine. She fix my Frister & Rossman Cup7 plus she teach me how to do it. I’m so satisfied with her services. Thank you!

Luise Vormittag: Since Jennie serviced my sewing machine it has been working like a dream. It has never run this smoothly, not even when it was new. It’s as if Jennie managed to bring out the true potential of my machine, that I had previously thought of as rather mediocre. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Suzannah Gartside: I’d highly recommend Jennie, to teach you anything about sewing. Very experienced and patient! Oh yes she also fixed my old sewing machine for me!

Rosie Bryant: Got my machine back up and running in no time! Friendly, efficient and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend.

Her teaching skills are outstanding! I feel very comfortable with her and I improved rapidly!I always look forward to my next lesson.

L L H: I started with Debbie long time ago and I loved it, it gave me that kick I need it to keep me going on sewing more and be courageous to try new things on my own. Debbie is so lovely, friendly and fun. You can do new projects from zero or adjust your own clothes, she is there to show you the way for each step. The environment at Debbie’s sewing classes is so friendly, diverse, interesting, you will meet so many regular people in the classes. I really really loved it and I recommend to anyone who is just starting on sewing or want some help with their own project that already working on it.

Caroline Parr: Please note - all workshops are cancelled with immediate effect as Craig remains in hospital. Thank you for your understanding.

Sophie Lantreibecq: Hi all, if you have a class booked with Craig or if you are trying to contact him - the Fashion Box is closed until further notice, as Craig is unfortunately unwell.

Lauranne Heres: I’ve now attended 3 classes at Fashion Box, and attended a private lesson as part of a birthday gift for my mother. Craig is super nice, so patient and explains everything really well.I have ADHD and often get distracted by what others are doing, or I don’t listen properly but he always takes the time to show something again if I’ve lost the plot. He also helps out if you’ve made a mistake and is very knowledgeable about different fabrics and styles.Craig has helped me copy shorts and a dress so that I can make a version myself. I also took his Hawaiian shirt and sweatshirt classes and learnt a lot there too.

Tanisha Brown-The Lord's Child: After my first sewing class with Craig on 1/8/22 which I made a dress, I was then able to use my own sewing machine for the first time and I shorten my trousers which I am wearing to dinner tonight. I have looked on TFB website and have learnt there are a lot more classes available which I will sure booked another for about Sepetmber or as soon as I have time. Thanks Craig our tutor who is such a warm pahhhhumbled

Shelley Morris: Did the ‘make a dress in a day’ with Craig and it was brilliant. It was so well structured and run, and sooooo satisfying to be able to get the dress finished in a day. I was so buzzing at the end I left my coat behind by accident! Looking forward to doing more courses soon!

Jade Cardoso: This place is amazing! Craig is a great teacher, I always leave his classes feeling super proud of what I've just created. He takes the time to answer all of your questions and gives you little hints on how to better your skills, the best places to buy fabric as well as tips on who will win The Great British Sewing Bee 😁Can't wait to sign up to my next course!

Cecilia Brogi: : he also shared troubleshooting strategies and top tips to quickly solve

Marc Levi: I would certainly recommend booking a few sessions with Craig or joining one of the group sessions!

Rob Slade: My mate and I went to the Hawaiian Shirt workshop. We had such a great time and both walked away with a shirt each that we're both so proud of. Craig made each step really simple!

Fabrications: what do users think?

Emma Baker: I can highly recommend the beginners sewing class. It's a small group, really well structured and well explained. Spent the morning grasping the basics and the afternoon completing on our own project which we left with. Barley is a patient, very clear and inspiring teacher. Really enjoyable way to start your sewing journey!

Alyssa Edkins: Came here to buy some thread and elastic, the man at the counter was so helpful and gave me some suggestions on where I could go buy some fabric, though they do have a small selection! Will come again and look at doing some classes!

ZIP studio: I did the beginners sewing class 2 and just like part 1 it was EXCELLENT. We covered zips, button holes, bias binding AND made a wearable garment all expertly guided by Barley who is an incredible teacher - patient, hands-on and a fountain of knowledge + encouragement. Save yourself hours of frustration scouring YouTube videos and book this class at once! So much care taken to create a supportive learning space - Thank you Barley 3 3 3

clément cousin: Great recommendations for the beginner that I am and lovely service.Thanks.

Nicole Phillips: The classes here are brilliant! I did the beginners sewing part 1 and 2, the quality, care and patience surpassed my expectations 10 fold! I cannot recommend the classes enough. If you are looking to learn how to sew or improve your skills this is the place for you.

Mumdood Passa: A friend and I both did the beginners evening sewing course with barley over 3 weeks. Cannot recommend it enough, barley is an excellent teacher and we both left the course feeling really confident about sewing and starting our own projects

Katie Goodwin: I attended 2 beginners sewing classes with Barley earlier this month and I couldn't recommend it enough. Barley is patience, so knowledgeable and clearly loves what she does. The classes were small and supportive and before you know it, you are exceeding your own sewing expectations. I cant believe how much I learnt in such a short amount of time. Looking forward to taking more classes here in the future!

Sonia Vivo Sarria: . The teacher is very patient, truly passionate teaching and sewing and I am feeling very cosy and nice in her classes. The company has great values like sustainability and social design. I highly recommend to try other people that after COVID feel like learning and meet new people. Really nice place, thank you :

Caroline Brooks: The door is extra wide and the staff are really friendly. Shop fully wheelchair accessible. Beware when booking workshops though, the workshop area is downstairs. Great place for gifts, craft advice, mending advice especially, yarn for sale, fabric & sewing machines, embroidery yarn, threads and a range of upcycled homewears, clothing and accessories.

Cathryn Gamble: Bought some wool and knitting needles to start me off on my new craft journey. Barley gave great tips and suggestions.

Make Mee Studio: what do users think?

James Banks: Loved doing classes at Make Mee - both "casual basics" and "making an Ilford jacket" - friendly and helpful tutors ready to give tips and advice throughout the session, a great start to my sewing journey

Claire Harding: Lovely local sewing studio - really friendly and relaxed, I had a great time at the Sewcial.

Izzy Larner: I truly love the classes Make Mee Studio put on. The teachers are so incredibly patient and friendly, and instil you with confidence from the very first lesson. I have no real experience with sewing but have already made a skirt and pair of trousers which friends have complimented me on! They are also so understanding about life sometimes getting in the way, and have been happy to accommodate ways for me to catch up missed lessons. Absolutely recommended!

Rosie Hattersley: The brilliant sewing teachers at Make Mee Studio got me into sewing again after not having done any since my teenage years. There's a combination of achievable projects you can dive right into - such as the copy your clothes, sewing a skirt or top taught sessions. If you're a returning sewist I really recommend the sewing surgery in which you bring your own sewing projects to work on independently with full backup and supportive advice on hand. These are ideal if you need to be sure of a great fit or are tackling tricky tasks such as making a jacket reversible - exactly what I ended up doing as an extension to the 'make your own bomber jacket' classes I took pre-lockdown.More confident sewers who just want to use the well equipped sewing studio and to bounce ideas off other creative stitchers will really enjoy the sewing socials and the time and space to focus on a project of your own.

Sarah: love coming to Make Mee, the teachers are fantastic and the joy of coming home with an item they have made themselves never gets old. I would highly recommend these classes for all kids.

Latanya Ramus: From the day Tayla has started she has loved every session, from making her first dress to her most recent completed item, her rucksack. Thank you Jamie, for making Tayla so comfortable and confident with Sewing.

Adam Jones: My daughter absolutely loves going to Make Mee studios! She has made some incredible pieces that she’d never have been able to do without help, and it’s her favourite activity. The staff are lovely and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Kc1012 Mart: Make Mee Studio was my first encounter of going to sewing lessons and it was the best experience ever. I have attend around 4 -5 course from sewing my first skirt, lean how copying my favourite clothes by drafting my own patterns, how to use a sewer/ overlocker, but I don’t think I have mentioned all of the courses I have attended. The teachers are amazing and very very patient and are will to help no matter what. It’s a great place to learn and it’s a safe and comfortable environment. I highly recommend Make Mee Studio if you want to learn how to sew and have a lot of fun doing so.

Catherine Wood: My daughters, now aged 11 and 9, have been going to Make Mee for a few years now and love it. They have many items in their wardrobes that they have made themselves and enjoy wearing. Jaime and Tracey are great and the ethos behind Make Mee is brilliant. Highly recommend.

Jake Sanders: Lovely staff. They are so patient and knowledgable.
