Sew It With Love: what do users think?

Nicola O'Shaughnessy: I have just completed the weekend beginners class, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I entered as a complete beginner having not used a sewing machine for 35 years, and by the end of the weekend I had made a cushion cover, tote bag and a skirt. Our guide for the course was Joana, and she was a wonderful teacher. I will be booking further classes in order to expand on the skills I have learnt, and am in the process of buying my own sewing machine. Cannot wait to continue this sewing journey. Highly recommend. If you’re thinking about it, go on and treat yourself you won’t regret it.
Response: Thank you for your lovely feedback Nicola! So glad you enjoyed Joana's teaching and pleased to hear you will be continuing your sewing journey :)

Aurelia Specker: I took the Complete Beginners Sewing Course (taught by Rehana) and I really enjoyed it! The pace of the class is well suited for complete beginners, as well as for those who already have a little sewing experience. It was very satisfying to make a button down cushion, a tote bag, and a skirt in just two days. The skirt fits well and I am very happy with it. Rehana took the time to explain everything in detail and provided 1:1 support to everyone on the course. I would recommend it!
Response: Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review. It's really appreciated. Enjoy wearing your skirt :) Rehana + team Sew it with Love x

Catherine Hawkins: I did the beginner course where you make a skirt on the third and fourth week. Olivia was great and able to respond to all the small group’s needs and I learned loads. Feel confident about tackling new things and will be back to develop further. Cathy
Response: Thank you Cathy for taking the time to leave us a lovely review. Really pleased you enjoyed the teaching and the course. We look forward to welcoming you back to the studio sometime. Team Sew it with Love x

Lauren Walker: I really enjoyed my class at Sew It With Love, Olivia was brilliant and it was a great intro to sewing. The room was a little hot but not much you can do about that in the English summer! Thank you Olivia!
Response: Thanks for your review Lauren and thanks for bearing with the studio warmth...hopefully we don't experience rocketing temperatures again! Rehana & the Sew it with Love team x

Candida Flowers: Brilliant course. I really feel my skills have improved so much during the course. Danuta was incredibly patient and extremely knowledgeable and as the class size is small she could help all of us individually. Thank you
Response: Thank you for taking the time to leave us a lovely review. Really pleased to hear you enjoyed Danuta's teaching. Warmest regards, Rehana & the team x

Amy Murphy: The perfect course. I learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed it. Each step was so clear and Joana have individual attention to every person throughout.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to leave us a positive review. Really pleased to hear you enjoyed Joana's teaching :) Rehana & the Sew it with Love team x

Sew Pretty - Sewing Classes & Courses Wimbledon: what do users think?

Elizabeth Fauconnier-Bank: Katya kindly squeezed me in with short notice to help alter my wedding dress after my wedding had been postponed a couple of times. She altered the length and darts plus added an extra button and hook & eye to make the dress feel extra secure. All done on time and really happy with the final results, thank you!

Julia Baggott: I was given a sewing machine as a gift but was totally stuck on where to start with using it, so I signed up on a whim for a month of beginner’s classes. Katya is a wonderful teacher and the class provides a great atmosphere to learn with a few others but few enough that you can always get 1:1 attention when you need it. Once I’d finished the first one, I immediately signed up for the intermediate class which I’m enjoying even more. I’d thoroughly recommend to anyone looking to get started ❤️

Debsi Doos: Signed up for the stretchy dress and enjoyed myself so much I went on to do the trousers then the channel jacket, which all came out great. Learning from Kataya is wonderful, she is so patient, but firm and really explains the whys and whatnots. This experience has inspired me and given me confidence, and you get to meet some lovely people and have a laugh too. Also had Sophie teach one lesson to cover for Kataya, who was also lovely and a good teacher. I love that the classes are small as it seems more one to one and we all learn at the same pace.

R F: Pros: Very cute place, good location, nice project, knowledgeable teacher (don’t recall her name (it wasn’t katya but one of her other teachers)), fun projects. I do recommend. Cons: Teacher didn’t schedule enough time for anyone to finish the project. She pressured me into a bigger size (it’s too big & unwearable) and to make shorts (which I don’t wear & don’t like) so I wasted the pricey fabric and there wasn’t enough left to make the pj pants I wanted. I sensed it would have not been received well if I had challenged her opinion. So it ended up being a waste of money. Conclusion: Overall I do recommend as my experience had good points because I did get a decent refresher course. My advice is to go for it, it’s fun, but trust your intuition on your size and what you want to make & not be pressured into something that you know isn’t right (again, it wasn’t Katya).
Response: Can you tell me when you did the class? Was it a course or a one off PJ's. There are three teachers leading adults classes, so it will be helpful to have further information. Your feedback is valuable Regards

M I: Katya is an amazing teacher. She tailored the class to my needs and covered all details of the blind making process in just 3h, explaining different types of finish and fabrics, which would work well for my particular project. I highly recommend Katya, and I truly enjoyed my time at her cozy sewing studio. Nice place to learn.

Alexandra Logan: Katya was a fantastic teacher, the class was a lovely environment and we all helped each other to produce the most wonderful pjs. Feeling a lot more confident with my sewing, and going to continue to take Sew Pretty classes to upskill.

Jenny Stobbs: Katya fitted my wedding dress and did an incredible job. This included securing/fixing beading, changing the cleavage, moving cups, shortening and taking in.Highly recommend!

Ophélie Chauveau: Had a workshop offered by my friend for my birthday to make a cushion cover. I learnt a lot and went home with a beautiful cover made by myself. I now feel more confident to try other projects by myself. Lot of basic skills and support throughout. Katya is very friendly and made everyone feel at ease.

Alice “Alice Clover Stories” Clover: My daughter has absolutely loved the sewing class. She created the most amazing bucket hat and now wants to become a fashion designer. She is thriving and so full of enthusiasm and counts down the days until the next class. Thank you for creating this magical space for our children to learn and develop their skills.
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words - they mean so much to the team who will be over the moon they’ve inspired your daughter and taught her sewing skills🌞

Clementine Macmillan-Scott: My 8 year old daughter and her friends had a wonderful couple of hours learning how to use a sewing machine and designing and making tote bags. They were so happy and excited with their creations when we picked them up and we will definitely be returning for more classes as soon as we can!
Response: Dear Clementine, thank you so much for your kind review, the girls were delightful and so focussed on learning a new skill. Their finished self lined Liberty fabric bags with striped straps were so well made and a great stylish fashion accessory for children and adults alike. We would love to see you all again! Full gratitude, Caroline x

Christine Hewitt: My 10 year old son has always loved fashion and very much had his own style. I thought joining the ‘ready to wear’ class would be a great way for him to express himself. He absolutely loved the classes and turns out to be quite handy on a sewing machine. After 12 weeks he produced a top and a pair of shorts.. made from scratch! Such a proud moment. He has since graduated to the next class up which is concentrating on design and fabric. He feels challenged each week and truly excited about what he is learning and achieving. We are thrilled he found The Fashion school!

Sarah Jackson: Fashion School is such a great place for children to learn - my daughter has loved the holiday classes, and is really looking forward to the work Fashion School is going to do with her school. Caroline is simply brilliant – she gets the balance of enthusiasm, skill and respect just right. All the other staff are lovely too – all know their stuff and are great role models as to what’s good about sewing. The children really learn how to sew, think and design independently. It’s incredibly empowering to be able to make and adapt your own clothes, and I’ve seen my daughter’s confidence, skill and interest grow. We are so lucky to have Fashion School here, it’s a fantastic local resource. I love it - I want to sign up for a class myself!
Response: Wow - Thank you so much Sarah! What a super review and thank you for inviting us into the community and enabling us to make contact with Christchurch school and hold sustainable fashion/sewing summer term classes there. Your daughter is very much part of The Fashion School family and we love her determination and style!

Arabella Isca: My daughter and I attended an awesome sewing workshop during the summer, focusing on sustainability and recycling. It was the first experience of this kind for my 6 yo daughter, she really enjoyed it, and she would like to attend other similar classes and/or workshops. Thank you Caroline and your brilliant team!
Response: Dear Arabella, thanks so much for taking the time to write us a review all the way from Italy! we love our international visitors in the summer. We are so pleased you enjoyed making sustainable fashion and up cycling with us, such an important message and the future of design in theses fast changing times. we loved having you - please come again! Best wishes, Caroline

H T: My son loves his weekly class at The Fashion School. The teachers are great. His interest in fashion is taken seriously and nurtured. He loves illustrating new ideas and practicing his sewing skills at home between sessions. The ability to work towards an Arts Award during the course is a huge bonus. Highly recommended.
Response: Hello H T! Thank you so much for your review. We love getting boys sewing and designing at The Fashion School, yessss! We're also so delighted to hear that your son is enjoying his lessons and it has sparked his sewing skills outside of the class as well. Just great to hear drawing and sewing techniques learned here are being used outside the studio. That's what we're about! Thank you, Caroline

Oscar Stark: My daughter loves attending the Fashion School & learning how to design, pattern cut, sew & create her own unique garments. Great teachers, lovely setting, beautiful location, well-connected with the fashion world & valuing sustainable fashion.
Response: That's such a great review, we're delighted you recognise we direct children to think sustainably about fashion from the onset and the experienced team loved running the workshop. Thank you,, Caroline

Storm Copestake: My daughter loves every second of her fashion workshops. She has been attending holiday workshops for 2 years and I am always so impressed with how much she learns, and how beautifully her garments turn out! Thank you again Caroline and team.
Response: Hello there Storm and daughter! We are so lucky to have you onboard and so pleased you have experienced The Fashion School at both our Chelsea and Brighton studios. it is so rewarding seeing your daughter blossom into such a well balanced creative person as she learns new skills and explores her own fashion creativity. See you both soon! Caroline x

Sophie Wilson: My daughter had been wanting to do a class like this for ages and since day one, has thoroughly enjoyed it and been thrilled at the things she has made and learnt. Caroline is such a warm, caring and fun teacher which makes the class even more enjoyable. I have loved seeing my daughter coming home brimming over with creative enthusiasm at everything she is learning and making. Highly recommend for anyone, adults and children.
Response: Sophie this is wonderful thanks for taking the time to review us. We love having your daughter here and I am so excited to see her first design project emerge over the next few weeks. She has such enthusiasm and is SO ORGANISED!! I just loved the fact she came by with her grannie to show her The Fashion School, it was a delight to meet her. L L H: I started with Debbie long time ago and I loved it, it gave me that kick I need it to keep me going on sewing more and be courageous to try new things on my own. Debbie is so lovely, friendly and fun. You can do new projects from zero or adjust your own clothes, she is there to show you the way for each step. The environment at Debbie’s sewing classes is so friendly, diverse, interesting, you will meet so many regular people in the classes. I really really loved it and I recommend to anyone who is just starting on sewing or want some help with their own project that already working on it.

Eva Patkova: Fantastic classes! The teacher is professional, yet friendly with great sense of humour. She explains things clearly and makes sure you understand. Her teaching style is excellent! Her teaching skills are outstanding! I feel very comfortable with her and I improved rapidly! I always look forward to my next lesson.

A Google User: I am extremely lucky to have found Sew what? First impression, the cosy studio has everything you need, beautifully organised and welcoming. The price for the classes are very good value for money. Ever lasting impression, Debbie is an amazing teacher with adults and children, warm and inspiring. I was looking to make a baby blanket for a gift. Debbie taught me to sow for the first time, patiently and full of encouragement. In 5 classes I had a gift worthy quilted blanket, a lovely experience and the privilege of meeting Debbie and fellow students.

Marta Franco: Debbie is an amazing teacher. She explains in detail the rationale behind each technique so it makes it easy to remember. I totally recommend a few lessons at sew what and you’ll find skills you once thought you never had.

Laura Basile: I am so glad I found Sew What?. Debbie is a competent, energetic and inspiring teacher. The atmosphere at the sewing cafe` is relaxed and focused at the same time, and she manages to give one-2-one attention to everyone. Hayley Cattlin: Highly recommend. Debbie is a fantastic teacher, balancing her class perfectly and communicating every detail.

Izzy Larner: I truly love the classes Make Mee Studio put on. The teachers are so incredibly patient and friendly, and instil you with confidence from the very first lesson. I have no real experience with sewing but have already made a skirt and pair of trousers which friends have complimented me on! They are also so understanding about life sometimes getting in the way, and have been happy to accommodate ways for me to catch up missed lessons. Absolutely recommended!
Response: Aww thank you! Always a pleasure to teach you Izzy. :)

Kc1012 Mart: Make Mee Studio was my first encounter of going to sewing lessons and it was the best experience ever. I have attend around 4 -5 course from sewing my first skirt, lean how copying my favourite clothes by drafting my own patterns, how to use a sewer/ overlocker, but I don’t think I have mentioned all of the courses I have attended. The teachers are amazing and very very patient and are will to help no matter what. It’s a great place to learn and it’s a safe and comfortable environment. Sew Much Fun: what do users think?

Magic Village: This shop is quite unique, a pastel-coloured modern haberdashery in the heart of Primrose Hill, catering for the expert dressmaker, the crafts person and the fashion student who wants to learn something practical.

Nayla Noren: I have been coming here for 6 years. I love sew much fun. Roz is great. There is a real sense of freedom with what you can make. I really recommend this. From beginners to experienced. You can also come up with your own ideas for what to make and Roz help you make it a reality.

jackie browne: Travelled over London today -saturday- to go to this shop. I arrived at 3.30 pm -2 hours before closing time. Naturally the shop was shut. Sew little fun. How can a business operate effectively by ignoring its own opening times? Shame on you. What else do you disrespect? What else should we be unwise to trust?

Ari Leskela: Small craft shop close to Camden area London. Really enthusiastic shopkeeper!

Alysa Gamet: I’m really grateful for your help

Polina Aboody: Lovely store! Friendly staff. Got a great starter kit for children.

Mark Paterson: Fabulous place.. a sewing school in the basement but the ground floor shop sells stuff for the serious dressmaker. Very knowledgeable owner.

Kirsten Westlake: Amazingly knowledgeable owner, goregeous fabrics and fun, sociable classes. Highly recommend it!

Ty One: Not very much stock or selection, also very expensive. Lady who works in their is very friendly and helpful.
