Helma van den Berg: A small hour with the subway, then a five minute walk, and you are in the oasis the royal botanic gardens are. The place is large and well equipped with cafe’s and restrooms, also for people in wheelchairs. If your focus is on flowers and plants, trees, or exotic greenery in the glass houses, you will find something that suits you. We especially liked the many greenhouses with their secluded corners. Very much a recommendation. Only thing is when you enter you are a bit pushed to give a contribution on top of the entry fee. Would be nice to ask for it instead of almost demanding it.

All just 30 minutes from Central London.Home to an exotic rainforest the palm house, discover different climate zones at the Princess of Wales Conservatory or look at the giant lily pads at the water lily house. Orestis -: The greenhouse features a set of automatically operated blinds that prevent it from overheating when the sun is too hot for the plants together with a system that blows a continuous stream of cool air over the plants. The main design aim of the house is to allow maximum light transmission.

Dave Yahia: Brilliant, something for all ages
