Self Defence Central London: what do users think?

Ivan Dragoshinski: Just had a self defence session with Dee organized by my employer and I have to say that I am blown away how much we learned in a very short time /in 1.5 hours/. Very useful stuff, starting with the law and going through basic self defence techniques, psychological responses to attackers...etc.Thanks Dee, Respect!

Tim Johnson: KB Self Defense is a great, safe, inclusive and practical place to learn effective self defense. What's taught is simple and increases your confidence, leaving you feeling even more equipped to defend yourself by walking tall, calm but powerful!

Zuzanna Słonina: Amazing self-defence lessons. I train in other martial arts, but the truth is those never prepare you as well for situations that might happen in real life, when people don't play according to rules. Dee is a very experienced self-defence instructor and she makes sure you learn each move correctly and get enough time to practice. You can ask her about any possible scenario and she always knows just what to do - she's truly incredible.

Adam Goulding: It's a sad fact that self defence skills are required in the modern world, but unfortunately you never know when you might find yourself in a vulnerable position. However, with these classes, I feel like I've put myself in the best possible position to survive an attack, and for such a small financial investment, it's a no-brainer. The environment is safe, welcoming and fun, and the instructors run through a variety of techniques from a variety of different positions, while also hammering home the importance of repetition and muscle memory. Highly recommend these classes.

Ruth MacLeod: KB offer great self-defence classes - really helping you think about what you would do if you needed to defend yourself, but never intimidating you with it. You get to partner up with other people in the class to practice, which makes it a more supportive and relaxed way to learn, and all the instructors are great, really encouraging. It's empowering and helps you feel that bit safer.

Ρένα Γκοτζαή: , join the self defense classes in Central London. The teaching team is amazing, they take care of us, motivate us and are always smiling. The classes have improved my reflexes and have made more confident, but also careful and aware of the dangers and risks that I might experience in life. It's not only a self defense lesson, but a life's lesson too.

Sushil Nama: You always think you will be safe. But keeping in mind the things that have happened its highly important to know what to do when the situation arrives. Dee and Kelly KB self defense classes gives you that empowerment. They teach you the basics and makes you so confident. The classes are very informative and the class is full of vibrant young people who are ready to learn. I would recommend that everybody should go for this class.

Neil Edwards: KB Self Defence teaches you effective techniques for how to stay safe and defend yourself. The classes are female-run and taught, and not intimidating - they are friendly, safe, welcoming and inclusive. The classes really improve your confidence and make you feel that you won’t just freeze if you were to end up in a situation where you have to defend yourself in real life, which hopefully you won’t. The techniques are based on situations that you might find yourself in, like defending yourself from the ground, or if someone were to grab you, so they are practical and easy to understand. In today’s world it is important to know something about defending yourself and KB Self Defence really provides that.

Phoebe5448: Self Défense classes are more important now more than ever. For both men and women. The classes at KB Kickboxing are essential, easy to attend and very friendly to everyone, regardless of level. Very welcoming and interesting, and very open. Definitely recommend classes as it teaches you great skills.

kelly fiestas: A great place to learn how to defend yourself in case of an attack. It is taught by amazing instructors who genuinely care about your progress and your safety. Every class I learn a new way to get out of a dangerous situation. One of the things I love most is that I don't feel self-conscious; no one is looking and judging apart from the instructor who is there every step of the way to make sure you make the most of the experience.

Steve McCarthy: I've been attending the excellent KB Self Defence classes for many years. They are taught with the same passion and expertise as all the other classes at KB Fitness by instructors who really care for their students health and well-being, but in a fun, relaxed and non-intimidating atmosphere.Attending these classes has made me feel much more secure and confident when I'm out and about in todays unpredictable world, where random attacks seem to be ever increasing.I highly recommend them to all.

Beth Sadler: KB Self Defence classes are brilliant, I can't recommend them enough! The instructors are fantastic and the classes teach simple yet effective techniques to defend yourself if you are unlucky enough to be attacked. The classes also provide advice on the best ways to keep safe when you're out and about. Since attending the classes I have become much more aware of my surroundings and have gained in confidence.

Ryan Reid: Great Self defence classes, I learnt a wide variety of self defence techniques ranging from choke releases to joint locks and defensive strikes. Instructors are very professional and also give advice on situations where self defence would be appropriate and practical tips on how to avoid situations from escalating. Highly recommended especially for anyone living in a big city like London

Frederike Beyer: . The techniques are easy to learn and the instructors always show different alternatives for different situations. It's a great way to feel safer and boost confidence. The classes are really enjoyable, too, everyone's very friendly and you get to try out everything in different ways.

Catherine C: I'm so glad I found self defence at KB Fitness! It's such a welcoming school where all shapes and sizes etc are welcome - you'll immediately feel put at ease by the super-friendly instructors. I really can't recommend it highly enough!

Jane Hamilton: I've really enjoyed taking the Self Defence classes at KB Fitness, they are taught really well and it's easy to learn the techniques. Everyone is very friendly, and the instructors are really approachable and supportive. Definitely a good investment, throughly recommended.

Jess Baker: I'm really impressed with the KB Fitness Self Defence classes. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, so you are put at your ease even when brand new.The techniques taught are simple and effective, and the excellent instructors give plenty of individual attention to each student. The classes cover a lot e.g. grab releases, floor defence and weapon defence. With clear instruction and lots of practical work, it's fun and engaging and you learn a lot. The basics are revised as new techniques are added, so you develop the skills more and more as the weeks go on.As well as the physical techniques, you're given advice on conflict-avoidance and general safety. Being reminded to walk tall and pay good attention to your surroundings, coupled with the skills you learn, has an immediate impact on how confident you feel.I highly recommend KB Fitness Self Defence.

sue pindar: Would highly recommend KB Fitness Self Defence classes. All Instructors are highly qualified, use very clear teaching techniques and always very helpful. Taught in a very safe manner and safe environment. Prices are very reasonable, such a small price to pay to protect yourself and loved ones.

Fotini Giantsiou: Great self defence classes at KB Fitness. Safe environment with great instructors where you get to learn simple but effective techniques that you can apply in real life situations. There are new techniques at every class however there is appropriate repetition to give us plenty of practice to become confident at the different techniques. Highly recommended.

Cathryn dela Rosa-Knight: KB Fitness is a fantastic Martial Arts school with wonderful and highly skilled teachers and where anyone of abilities can join. The school is ego free, very welcoming and you leave class stress free with a smile on your face!I have been taking self defence classes with the school and the classes are hands on. We are taught how to defend ourselves and remove ourselves from situations with specific techniques that can be applied to the outside world. The instructors are wonderful and they make sure that you get the techniques correctly and are very encouraging! You learn so much after a class!!I definitely feel much safer, more aware and confident knowing that I can protect myself. Urban Fit & Fearless | self defence - urban krav maga | London: what do users think?

K S: Fantastic workshops, boosting confidence, core strength and fitness at the same time - they accommodate any fitness levels and it is always a friendly group of fellow trainees around to support you. Patrice cares, helps and gives his best 👌 highly recommended

Chess Galea: Really really good classes. Knowledgeable, patient and attentive instructor

Dasha Dubovitskaya: and have started to understand the basic underlying fundamentals that explain the logic of self-defence moves – movement, momentum, leverage points, etc. I’ve also, somehow, without realising, lost my fear of sparring – because sparring techniques get introduced gradually and sensibly, at an early stage. For krav maga practitioners who are put off by the word “urban” – please don’t be! Urban is where it’s at! This system introduces much needed modifications to the classic krav maga curriculum, including much more thorough groundwork

Alexandra Panduru: The lessons are well paced and explained. They are easy to understand and follow, even for complete beginners.

Adriatik Hasanaj: I joined Krav Maga classes on February 2018 with Patric and since then i turned up nearly every season and I really enjoyed ,i do quite bit of sport but this is one of the best one ,and best move and and best experience, on he’s classes is everything self defence, cardio reall good work out, and Patric he has very well set up high intens 1:30 minutes training every session, good technique and good trainer/ instructor, so me personally I really highly recommend to everyone which is thinking to start something new this year or Tim’s coming try Krav Maga .Urban Fit &Fearless /Self Defence,so ones again highly recommended this place and you want be Disappointed.

Maxim Boiko: Very recommended, great friendly people and instructor.

Olga A: Patrice is a great teacher, involved and helpful in explaining if something is unclear. On the classes you can learn how to self defence with many tactics and advices. During 90 minutes you won't have any time to be boring. Just take a bottle of water because it will be absolutely necessary and enjoy!

Lorelie Lim: I did few classes with Patrice few years back and it was a very good experience. I was a beginner and I was introduced to do program comfortably. I enjoyed every class and learned a lot!

I never thought that a short thin woman like me can defend herself from the attack of a guy. Right now I feel more confident and stronger. Cant recommend this class enough.

Katrina C: I’ve only been to a few classes but intend to keep it up. Patrice & Ricky are attentive and make it safe & fun to learn. You can tell they’re passionate about making self defence accessible to all. Highly recommend. I think every woman especially would feel more confident out & about, armed with some of their techniques. Keep up the great work 💪🏽

Doesn’t matter if you are beginner or have some martial art experience in the past - here you learn how to protect yourself in all real scenarios - kicking, choking, knife attack, two attackers, stick attack, front and back attack etc. The good point is that we not only learn how to fight but also how to behave in high level of stress situations. All in safe and very professional conditions.

I feel more calm, energized, and confident than ever before and there is a strong sense of camaraderie and community in this group. It's also great value for the money that you pay. The community spirit here is tangible, with a group of supportive and friendly individuals who share a common goal of self-improvement.Each instructor brings a unique energy to the mat, making every class an adventure in its own right. Brixton Krav Maga - FEKM: what do users think?

Thomas Sheridan: Would definitely recommend signing up to Krav Maga classes in Brixton! Learned some valuable self-defence techniques over the last few months. Simon and co were very helpful and good teachers, plus the class is always good fun to attend and the people were easy to get along with.

Richard Peacock: Really enjoyed my experience at Brixton Krav Maga - only regret not getting to the classes more often before leaving London. They get you to work hard, but Simon and the other instructors are friendly, clear and immeasurably patient and understanding. Before going, I'd felt intimidated by the idea of martial arts/self-defence, but there's a great mix of people of all ages, genders, backgrounds and experience levels, which, along with the welcoming instructors, really helps to create classes that feel inclusive and welcoming.

Dhruv Sharan: Simon and his team are great motivators and teachers. There's something for everyone here; hard hitters, polite punchers and charming conversationalists. Great intro to self-defence, especially if you're not in the best shape to begin with.

Stephen Hunt: An extremely well run self defence group with excellent teaching. Multiple sessions running throughout the week ensure you're not tied to a particular day and you can attend as few/many as you want. The sessions themselves are practical and combine warm ups, training techniques, sparring and applying what you've learnt. The classes appear to appeal to all types as age, height, fitness and gender does not hinder people from doing any of the activities and people can progress at their own pace. All in all a great workout.

Victoria Atadini: . Practical and clear classes, accessible prices, friendly instructors & kravists.Diverse, bringing people from all around the world together, helping each other to exceed our own expectations - club that is proud to see us advancing & growing as we grow with them.A place to feel welcomed and improve our physical, mental and emotional health & strength. It gives us the confidence we need - whether for a day to day situation or for an actual confrontation.Best choice ever.

Niccy Lin: I trained as a yellow belt in Simon’s class for a couple years and it’s nothing short of brilliant. I needed to demonstrate a fight reel for stunt acting and Simon kindly took time out to choreograph multiple fight sequences trained me and helped with all the filming. He’s not only an incredible instructor but brilliantly patient in taking time to boost my confidence and push me to achieve more than I initially thought myself capable of. His classes make you feel strong, safe and teach you amazing muscle memory in defence. You couldn’t find a better place to train at any level.

Ainoa Černohorský: professional, friendly and inclusive. It's a really good learning environment and an opportunity to meet new people from all over London. I feel incredibly lucky that this was my first choice as a club to learn krav 🏼

Andres Fernandez: A wonderful place to train -- combining fitness, relevant self-defense techniques, and sparring. Great instructors.

Madeleine C: Excellent. I went to the 2 hour intro course. Very well structured evening, fast paced, rapid learning & application of skills, super friendly but very serious at the same time. A good mix of total newbies and more experienced through to highly skilled people who were all very generous and helpful with the first timers!Update # 2I’m now two months in and can happily report that I’m probably the fittest I’ve ever been in my life and despite being a basically non sporty person, this is the first time I’ve ever felt encouraged and empowered to participate in sport. Do it!Update #39 months down the line: still going and feeling now that “I do a sport” which also enables me to walk confidently around London as a woman without fear.

Melissa Jensen Labiano: who give you personalised advice, so you are constantly improving your skills and abilities.

Peter M (Peter): Great club very friendly and good training for a beginner

Jose Maria Herrador: Krav Maga class was a highly rewarding experience that left me feeling more confident and prepared to defend myself in real-life situations. The combination of practical techniques, expert instruction, and a supportive atmosphere made for an unforgettable learning experience. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned martial artist, I would highly recommend giving Krav Maga a try. It just might save your life one day.The class was led by an exceptionally skilled instructor who exuded confidence and expertise in Krav Maga. Their extensive background in martial arts and self-defense was evident from the way they conducted the class. They were patient yet assertive, ensuring that each participant understood the techniques thoroughly.Jose M. Herrador

Ema Jarosiewicz: I really enjoy the classes here. The teaching is excellent and they made me feel very welcome.

Lillian Auma: The club is a fantastic place to learn self defence, keep fit and have fun. It is run by a fantastic and dedicated instructor Simon. A very inspiring instructor with experience for many years. I can’t believe the level of fitness, strength, determination and confidence I have achieved. This is all due to the teaching styles of Simon the instructor, he is simply the best. The club is going from strength to strength. The location is easily accessible by public transport but also has parking facilities. Members are friendly and supportive encouraging team spirit. Many people are joining on a weekly basis, with progress visible through the coloured belts on display from white to black belts.

Brian MacDonald: I've recently joined this club and can highly recommend it. Simon and the instructor team are very helpful and friendly. It is not intimidating for new students and they are very open to having new joiners of all ages. As an older student they stress to go at your own pace. I recommend for women as well as it's really good to learn self defense here.

richard sullivan: I joined Brixton Krav Maga around8 months ago and can highly recommend them to anyone wanting to learn some self defence and get fit!The experience of Simon and his instructor team are outstanding, a really good mix of physical exercise and learning many different self defence skills In a very friendly fun atmosphereWith the emphasis on people learning at their own pace and ability.I find everyone there very friendlyAnd encouraging, a great mix of all age groups and ability, can highly recommend Simon and Brixton Krav Maga.

Leonardo Fernandes: I had a very good experience with Simon and Brixton Krav Maga. Recommend to beginners and people that want to go back to it as it will give you some real life self-defence skills.

Georgia Clarke: Went to an adults introductory session not knowing much about Krav Maga but hoping to learn some basic self defence. My expectations were exceeded. It was a busy and vibrant class. Simon is a fantastic instructor and packed in a huge amount of learning into a beginner class! Really enjoyed, though I’m sure I’ll be a little sore tomorrow!

Naomi J: The team of practitioners were very attentive and patient

If you want to learn how to defend yourself against singular or multiple attackers, the psychology/physical movement behind the people that attack & also have fun around like minded people, this is the place for you.

Hydraholix Productions: Been going to classes for about half a year now and absolutely love it. Very supportive environment with a great group of guys and women helping you every step of the way.You change partners often during the class and get to work with everyone. I've definitely been feeling a lot more confident in myself and being out in about in London since taking the classes too - so would highly recommend!

Weapon Base: Awesome martial art taught be equally awesome instructors. I highly recommend checking these guys out.

Emanuela Bajeski: I have been training with Urban Escrima Self Defence for 2 years now and absolutely love it. I first started by attending a taster session which is for those who have never been before. Having never done any self defence or martial arts i was not sure what to expect. However, the Instructor team and other students are great, it is a very friendly atmosphere and welcoming. The training is always fun as every class is different. I am 3rd grade now and we train a lot of unarmed self defence as well as learning weapon defence. The things i have learned so far are invaluable to me. I highly recommend training with Urban Escrima Self Defence and trying them out for yourself; I am sure you will get just as much enjoyment as i have.

TOTAL KRAV MAGA - Hammersmith: what do users think?

Eva Szokol-Humay: very good classes at an easy to get to location

R: I can assure you this is the place to start. I had the pleasure of having Nick as my instructor during my time there and I felt at home instantly. The experience level is varied aswell for those who have prior knowledge too. You get stuck in from the very start and it's always an intense session but you leave feeling very accomplished and confident in yourself with Nick's 5* guidance and enthusiasm. I hope to return if my timetable changes as I'm already missing it and it's just been a few days! Thank you so much for your lessons Total Krav Maga!

gary matthews: Great crowd, great times.

Mohamed Muradi: It’s Always a Pleasure training with the expert level 4 nick Maison wonderful teacher with a lot of experience

Thomas Tang: This is the most professional, comprehensive and friendly self-defence class I've ever come across. The instructors are highly skilled and experienced in teaching all levels. If you are looking to get fit, increase confidence or protect your loved one, THIS IS IT!

Sonia P: Motivating and enjoyable classes led by professional and supportive TKM instructors where you gain the skills and knowledge of real life situations. I would definitely recommend the classes to anyone considering joining the club.

Hristo Modesov Kostov: Excellent classes with great instructors !!

TimDefoWood: As an experienced Martial Artist and with experience in the Police I had a great experience yesterday at this Krav Maga class. The instructor took time to warm up the class appropriately, identifying anyone with injuries or medical issues and suggesting appropriate exercises for them. We then ran through a mixture of exercise and games based warm-ups which ensured we all had suitable time to limber up.Then came time for the training itself, practical application for defence against a punch with pressure testing to ensure we could perform at speed, in a controlled environment. The supervision was superb but I was most impressed by the detailed knowledge of the law surrounding appropriate force and self defence, whilst highlighting that the best action is always to "GET AWAY"I would thoroughly recommend this class, and I look forward to more sessions.

Dean Mac: Thursday class with Martina or Rob, both amazing instructors, you will get a high intensity workout routine mixed with step by step techniques in Krav Maga. Good size room for training with air con & shower facilities

Ben Jones: Consistently excellent class with a friendly atmosphere for all levels from complete beginner. A good balance of fitness training and realistic self-defence techniques. I would recommend to anyone interested in self defence.

Marian Siwiak: Great instructor, who finds time to improve everyone's performance. Great group, helping each other.

SKMA Hapkido (School of Korean Martial Arts): what do users think?

Stephanie Nada Succar: Best place to learn self defence. Myself and my kids all learn Hapkido with master Sung since 5 years. We have learned so much and feel so much more confident. Recommended 100%Stephanie

Jiyoung Cha: and other best instructors. They are very helpful and paying attention to individuals. Not only kickings & punchings, but you can also learn practical techniques during the class which is very useful :-

Natalia Li: Very well organised school with a strong following. Master Sung is a multi-discipline martial artist who can teach all ages and abilities and classes are always intense but fun.

Andrew Hamilton-Thomas: After having gained a 1st dan blackbelt in the Korean martial art of Taekwondo I wanted to compliment my acquired skills by learning a 'practical' martial art without having to significantly alter my korean based style of kicking. After some research I came across Master Sung's SKMA dojo and my time and investment thus far has been worth every penny! You have some martial art schools that are 'mickey mouse' outfits but Master Sung's SKMA Hapkido club is the real deal! It is well organised, professionally run with a great team of blackbelts to assist beginners as well as intermediates. More over you are taught a well balanced, practical martial art that doesn't focus solely on one particular area such as kicks or throws etc but is well rounded to give the user an option for many scenarios where survival through unarmed combat is a possibility. I would recommend anyone wanting to learning practical self defence to get in contact with Master Sung

Neil Burbage: Xen-Do Martial Arts is a fantastic place to train, and if you put in the effort, you can achieve amazing things.I have been coming to classes for six months and have made real progress in learning the art of Kickboxing. The Sensei is first-rate and provide an outstanding quality of training whether for a group or personal class.Baker Street dojo is a fun and friendly place to practice and socialise whilst getting those impressive results.Joining Xen-Do and signing up for two classes per week were the two best decisions I made this year. Ouss.

kevin cox: As much as I enjoy a sleep in on a Saturday there is nothing more invigorating than the “learn to spar” session at Baker Street dojo. The clue is in the name this is where you can sharpen up your skills without fear of getting unnecessarily injured. Under the expert supervision of sensei uri with his rapier sharp wit and Sensei Kuba, always ready to give some one on one advice and encouragement. The sessions always have a good cross section of grades and ages so everyone gets a chance to learn something new. So what are you waiting for come on down.

Renato Cecini: I really enjoy my time at Xen Do Baker Street and I would strongly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a friendly and professional place where to train in martial arts. The instructors are extremely helpful. I am always looking forward to the next class. Ouss

James Donkin: Xendo Baker St is a blooming marvellous place. I go here on my work lunch breaks for a proper workout that's demanding but also has a practical purpose. Great friendly teachers who know exactly how hard to push in a martial art that builds confidence and flexibility. Can't recommend more highly, Sensei Kuba is an excellent teacher

Kama: I highly recommend this club. It is fantastic! All the senseis are super, very experienced and highly skilled, very dedicated and kind at the same time. I love it!

Mayra Sofía: Today I had my 1rst. class and it was fantastic. I have no experience in this sport so I was a bit scared, but the Professor Kuba has been very patient and technical so has made me progress rapidly in just one hour. I will definitely recommend it!

vita: Almost 2 years since I joined Xen-Do, and this was truly one of the best decisions I’ve made! ♥️The Sensei team is made up of some of the loveliest of people I’ve met, all of whom have a great sense of humour, which makes even the toughest of sessions super fun. You can feel their passion for they do, and to me that’s key to providing valuable guidance, but also making classes very enjoyable. Special shoutouts to Senseis Kuba, Yuri, Ammo, Ri & Jess!At Xen-Do, we’re all like a big family: the students too are amazing people to train with, and are always super helpful, supportive and fun. I literally look forward to every class I go to!Finally, the workouts themselves are fantastic, targeting the full body and really increasing the stamina. 💪 I only wish we practised a little more defence moves, as I feel that the primary focus of our classes is the attack. In all honesty though, I can't recommend this dojo enough for anyone looking to start their martial arts training. Sign up to the trial class! You won’t regret it!

Sumeet Arora: Have been training here for a few months now and I am loving it! Have improved my fitness and overall balance and skills. Highly recommended!

Omar Mohammed: Is the best DO-Jo in London highly recommend it must try and get your fitness and skills high in the sky Ouss .

Scheilly Tsilova: Great sensei and great training! Improves my balance and endurance in a few months and not only do you train but you learn how to defend yourself ! You can actually feel yourself progressing! Couldn’t recommend more. I enrolled 4 of my friends already and they love it!

Jon Ellesmere: Xen-Do School of Martial Arts has been helping me improve my confidence, self-discipline, and determination to succeed. I would always feel good whenever I attend training classes and leaving the dojo inspired and feeling good. I always share this great experience with my family and friends, and they are so happy to see me in this active sport. I spoke to my dad and mom a few days ago and they mentioned that I got this habit and trait to do martial arts from my dad, which really made me so happy as it all makes sense now, and why I love doing kickboxing. Xen-Do School of Martial Arts has contributed to my success in life and I’m truly looking forward to each and every classes. Huge thanks to all the Senseis. Big shout out to Sensei Yuri, Sensei Kuba, Sensei Joe, Sensie Rijana and all the other Senseis who have fun and patient in teaching me. I also got the once in a blue moon chance to see Master Raf, Sensie Anthony, Sensie Kuba, Sensie Richard, Sensei Luca and all the other Senseis one Thursday afternoon which I’ll never forget. I had got the front seat watching and witnessing them spar and do some pad work. Amazing! I enjoyed every bit of it. Ouss 🙏🏻

Josh Jaegle: Very good dojo with hard and effective training sessions. They teach a style of kickboxing most optimised for self defence
