Sara Rye: . It is an asset to the community. More clarity in its management would be beneficial.

CGP: Wonderful & Magical..🎊💖

Michael Spring (Jez): Choose the right course and you won't be disappointed. You'll struggle. You'll swear. You'll wonder how people can do it. But persevere and you'll have an experience that's priceless. I started here when I retired and despite some setbacks, I've loved it. Keeps you alive and stretched.

Gerrard Russell: Superb Art Gallery with very good lighting and a great cafe. The Artwork on display at the moment is by Atsuko Saito who is a very accomplished Japanese artist living in London. Really precise beautiful paintings.

Sarah Wilson: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Value

Ori Altarace: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueWhat a community! Besides the amazing facilities they have some of the most dedicated teachers and staff. I feel inspired after every visit.

Charles Salmon: Wonderful. I've never painted or drawn since I was 12 many decades ago. I went to a beginners class then on to a more advanced class. The teachers are patient talented and teach you everything from mixing colours, applying the paint perspective etc. After 2 years I'm not bad.

Kevin Murphy: Kevertonkevana@gmail.com

Claire Diamond: Been taking classes part time for several years at HSOA. Painting, ceramics, jewellery. Lovely place, very talented teachers at very reasonable prices. A jewel in north London. Come and see for yourself. Lovely café as well where you can enjoy exhibited arts for students and local artists.

Art Courses London: what do users think?

S C: Went to Stephen for some one-to-one tuition as I am self taught in portraiture and wanted some ideas on how to further develop my own style. Stephen has a wealth of knowledge, is sensitive and very skilled in facilitation. I came away with more space and possibility to try new things out. I attended a one day drawing class with Stephen first which was a very enjoyable day. The atmosphere he creates uplifts your ability from the get go, so he subtly pushes your potential by seemingly doing nothing. Highly recommended!

Clare Sayer: This was a fantastic course to get me started – and take the 'fear' out of painting! Stephen is a great teacher and I really enjoyed the sessions. Would definitely recommend – I'm looking forward to booking another course.

Salma Bora: Stephen is a very good teacher. His instructions are constructive and encouraging.

Sally Dufty: Had a great “Exploring Abstract art course with Stephen at Art Courses. It was good to try something different, Stephen is an inspiration , very approachable and gives good feedback . It was fun and friendly with good biscuits !I would highly recommend these classes and I am hoping to do another course this summer.

Elle Dormer: Stephen is a lovely and helpful teacher and I've really enjoyed his courses. He is generous with his time and knowledge, tailoring advice and suggestions for each person in the class, and always encouraging and constructive. Highly recommend!

Emma Balcomb: I took the introduction to acrylics course in Nov 2022 and absolutely loved it. Stephen adjusted the course to our needs, was extremely engaging and his tuition is excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and can't wait to do another one. 100% recommend!

Liz Bunton: At Stephen’s suggestion, I took the Introduction to Abstraction course not only to learn & practice some abstract art but as a potential way of gaining confidence to pick up a paintbrush instead of my default pencil and charcoal. It worked! Stephen is a great teacher. His classes and courses are all great fun and you’ll learn a lot. Highly recommended.

George Rana: Brilliant tutor who cultivates a fantastic and creative mindset from the offset. In each of the lessons you're taught to get paint on the canvas and solve problems, something all painters should be doing. I have waisted too much time reading books about theory and in 4 weeks produced more work than the previous 3 years!!! Have booked more courses later this year.

Andrew Godfrey: Thoroughly enjoyed it and grew. Did the beginners course for acrylics. Never done it. Always curious. Nervous about the material, the process and the techniques. Turns out everyone was in that boat. Phew. Stephen was engaging, fun, informative and supportive. The environment and approach made you feel like an artist, not a rookie. I learnt about terminology, hacks, and styles. Also got a bonus experiment with oil on canvas. Would recommend. Also, don't slack on the paints. I did. I ended going back to the art shop 3 times.

Sheila Hearsum: I did a course this Summer, and I enjoyed it and felt I learnt a lot in a short time.

Chris Gunter: Great- supportive and friendly atmosphere. Stephen is incredibly knowledgeable and nuturing.

Denise VH: I really enjoyed my course with Stephen! It was the first time I tried oil painting and Stephen was a great teacher, very supportive and encouraging. He gives you freedom to express your own ideas and at the same time he helps you push your boundaries to explore what you are capable of, definitely a fantastic experience, totally recommended it

Katherine Duffy: I recently completed the oils and acrylics course after not painting in over 10 years. Stephen helped me to rediscover my love for painting! I enjoyed showing up to his classes and being fully engaged, the time would fly by. Stephen is as hands on as you want him to be and always provides really sound advice. If you want to fine tune your skill, you’re a beginner or you want a dedicated 3 hours per week of uninterrupted painting then I highly recommend signing up to a course!

Countess Laski: Fab classes!

Palace Speaks: We had a great one to one oil painting session with Stephen. Very happy with the session, we learned what we wanted to and more! Thoroughly recommended.

Kate O'Flynn: I had such a great time on the 'Exploring colour with acrylic and oil' course. Stephen was a brilliant tutor: engaging, incredibly knowledgeable and very encouraging! It was absolutely the kick start I needed to get back into painting, and I can't wait to do more courses!

Annabelle Sing: and try a different way of working than usual to challenge myself. Stephen is really approachable and gives good feedback and direction. I enjoyed the class very much, it was fun and not too formal or pretentious. If you are looking to improve your skills in a friendly environment, this is the place. Hoping to do join another course in the summer. Would definitely recommend!

Lou: So far I have attended 3 courses at Art Courses London and I have learnt so much. Stephen has a wealth of knowledge in techniques and artist references and offers encouragement and guidance through-out the session.I find Stephen to have a calm & cheerful persona and his teaching style has encouraged me to tap into/ start to recognise my talent and artist style. I would most definitely recommend any of his courses and I myself look forward to learning more.

James O'Hara: I attended a 4 week course with Art Courses London. I have been trying to learn to paint for about 4 years and I had some tutorials before but I was clueless. Stephen made the sessions fun, informative, he taught me the basics and I learned one thing each week that I found extremely helpful. I have a new found confidence in that I know where to start, before it was just guess and mess. I’m even getting impressed with my own work enough to enter three of my new creations into a group exhibition. I am really looking forward to to the next course in January 2022. Who knows by the end of that I might be the next Vincent Van Gogh with two ears.

J CG: Fantastic Art on display at graduation show. Fine art, mixed media as well as wood and stone carving works available to view and purchase.

Sushi Queen: Positive:QualityI’ve studied here many years ago ! I loved it

William Thorneycroft: Best art school I've been two, I mean, it's the only art school I've been to but it's still great.

Anshika Art: It seems very nice online. I would definitely like to study here.

Nikkie Pop: This is where they are breeding Artists and Art Conservators in harmony and happiness. An Artistic Heaven!

Oliver Epp: , and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It’s incredibly important to find a school that appreciates you. I am lucky enough to have benefitted from the generous donation made by the valued trustees, who support and believe in City & Guilds of London Art School; I was awarded the Painter-Stainer’s Scholarship, which has enabled me to focus on my practice without overbearing financial worries.Prior to my time at City & Guilds of London Art School I was an Art Scholar at Charterhouse School, and I have felt being here, in smaller community, seeking out advice and support has never been easier. It’s much more intimate, much more personal, and much less like a business. We get spoiled with tutor supervision, with regular tutorials. The other art schools I looked at before applying didn’t offer that. We have the opportunity to give feedback on the syllabus, and what happens at school evolves organically, through our regular meetings with the Board of Studies. It feels as if the course gets sculpted by our needs and interests.

Shelley Lane: , she is enthusiastic, endlessly patient and helpful. I have been with her for about a year and my painting and drawing have tremendously.

Phil Mason: , with which we are all delighted. We are very grateful to Sue for all she did to help Emma get there – it couldn’t have been done without her.

SM Shah: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,ValueExcellent online courses. Have done both drawing and watercolour and am making such progress. More than anything it was wonderful to follow these courses during lockdown. Still doing the drawing courses every week and look forward to each lesson with enthusiasm. It’s been great experimenting with different medium.

Sally Ostrowska: I have been attending Sue’s online art course for 2 terms. It works very well; she is a very patient teacher, very experienced in passing on her knowledge and a superb artist. Each online class is followed up with a YouTube video of the lesson so you can always refer back to an aspect of it that you may not have understood or to refresh your experience of the lesson. She loves receiving a photo of the work you have done each week and gives you feedback on it, this is most helpful and helps one to progress.Highly recommended.

Charlotte: As a complete beginner to watercolour I was really happy with my first painting, couldn't have done it without Sue's teaching. Really friendly, supportive and helpful class. I recommend it!

M King: A fantastic class. Sue is an excellent teacher. I am a complete beginner and I feel I have learnt a great deal.

Christopher Wallis: Sue is a superb artist and a sympathetic and encouraging teacher. I started going to her lessons about a year ago and I am delighted with the improvements I have made in my work, both in water colours and oils. It is all down to her! Chris Wallis

Debbie Lim: I think Sue is an excellent teacher. She explains the principles really well and guides you to improve your piece when you are struggling without being too prescriptive and can pinpoint exactly the areas of development. She is also very encouraging and approachable.

Ray Wells: I was definitely a 'senior novice' when it came to drawing & painting until I attended Sue's Art Lessons. I found her knowledge, spirit & enthusiasm in teaching all forms of art across the spectrum to both young and older students a true delight and joy.I can honestly say, my current interest in drawing & painting is all down to Sue's expert tutoring,Ray Wells

Helen O'Donnell: Fantastically fun and skilled teaching by Sue Cooper. If you fancy trying painting, this is the place for you

Melonie: Drawing a Story - a brilliant course with great teachers in a lovely location.

Annabel Kjar: I wanted to pass on how interesting, rich and supportive the course Mapping: Internal Landscapes under the tutelage of Perienne and Andrea has been, thank you!The content, the tutors, the guided activities as well as supportive community were very helpful in allowing me to develop new skills and new knowledge.

Jackie lewis: Going to be lost waiting for new courses to start in September. Such wonderful courses.

Aurora R: What a stunning online course! I took ‘Drawing, Collage and Poetry’ with Sophie and Rosie and got completely swept away by the engagement shown from both the teachers and the fellow students. A tight programme, a lot of exercises, inspirations, theory talks, groups discussions and very constructive feedbacks for each session. This went way further than my expectations! I can only highly recommend it! Thank you so much for this gift of a course.

Clare Muller: Learnt some really interesting new techniques- great courses and inspiring tutors!

Md mujeeb: Mohammed imran son of mohammed ghouse .. drive with confidence with her

Jeremy Rosen: Wonderful tutorials with extremely thoughtful preparation to help you improve your drawing skills and understanding. Would highly recommend as a place to learn for all those who are interested and motivated.

Sharmin K: Incredible School. Intuitive Teachers. Lovely atmosphere. My favourite place to be IN the whole World. I look forward to participating with you ALL again. Hopefully, very soon. I LOVE the Courses & the drop-in Classes 💖 THANK YOU, all, so much for everything you do 🙏 For continuously inspiring us, encouraging us, making us fall in love with ART all over again, time after time. I am VERY grateful to ALL of you.

Christian M: I loved doing the 5-day summer course. Great tutor, lovely fellow students and a very creative, encouraging atmosphere. Will defo do it again

yasemin Kascioglu: I enjoyed the 1 week, 1 pose course immensely, our tutor Claudia Carr taught us so much with great patience. I appreciated how the days were structured, looking and discussing references and images covering different topics of painting, then continuing to paint for the rest of the day. Claudia spent time walking around the room to discuss each person’s work. The studio itself was nice, we were painting during the heatwave so everything was done to keep the class as cool as possible. I do think the lighting is a problem, and was disappointed to see that the school doesn’t have any professional lighting. Thankfully our brilliant life model brought in one of his own, I hope the drawing school will invest in the future. In summary, I would definitely attend this course again, it was really enjoyable.

Josie Chadwick: Had a blast doing the "World Imagery in Art" with the Royal Drawing School. Great tutors, learnt loads and had a lot of fun. Very good attention given to each student. Tutors seem to be super interested in everyone's progress and to "meet us where we are".

Angela O' Connell: Excellent knowledgeable and gifted tutor and well run course. I thoroughly the course and learned a lot.

Maeve Martin: Summer School-Evening Flux and Flow; Ink and Watercolour at The Royal Drawing School- a superb course based on a diverse range of historical, modern and contemporary art references . Inspirational teaching with a balance between structured tasks and more experimental directions. Stephanie and Nicola are exceptionally knowledgeable practitioners. Many thanks, Maeve Martin

Gregory Thayer: Painting: Landscape, Gardens and Natural Forms; Summer ‘22. The course was very well taught, but please, please spend a little time revising the Materials List so that it conforms to what has been described for, and then what is required to fully participate in, each specific course. Time wasted using the wrong materials, or scrambling to obtain materials after the course begins, is magnified for these intensive courses. Otherwise, very good.

Heatherley School of Fine Art: what do users think?

Swati Sucharita Dash: My dream college

Leon van Zweel: What a lovely experience to see the students work. My wife really enjoys her art classes at Heatherleys and I enjoy watching the paintings and sculptures in a jovial atmosphere.

Dinx Jacobs: Heatherleys has been an empowering spring board for my further education and career. Most importantly my passion for art and its endless possibilities is ignited every time I walk into the building.

Mary Volk: I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Heatherley's to anyone either new to art, experienced at it in some way or who have been away from the practice for many years. The tutors are experienced and sympathetic and are wonderful teachers. Heatherley's welcomes everyone, from all walks of life and all ages. The most important thing for me is that it's a vibrant and friendly community of like minded people and fellow artists, and communities as such are hard to find these days. To be cherished.

Kati Aitken: who were all very professional and inspiring. Heatherleys takes pride in teaching drawing skills, but for me even more helpful was hearing from teachers what else is involved in a contemporary artist's life, as they all continue to do art themselves. When doing a full time course it's important to be self-motivated though, as there is a lot of work involved and three taught days per week translate to at least five days of painting if you want to get the most out of it. Also, it is obviously not possible to share the same artistic vision with each of your teachers but I think at Heatherleys you can develop your own vision and style quite freely.

Paulina P.: I have been coming to the school for years now, starting with part-time courses and currently finishing full time Diploma in Portraiture. Very stimulating and enlightening experience for anyone preparing to be an artist. Not free from artistic challenges and obstacles, as an artist's life should be.

Patrick Palmer: One of the last proper art schools around. Bit quirky but to learn traditional techniques in drawing and painting it must be one of the best. I learnt loads...

Ms Jones: The home of portraiture, oil painting, and all things fine art.
