Cookery School at Little Portland Street: what do users think?

Alexandra Zeevalkink: Really enjoyed the knife skills class here. John and Michela were wonderful. Found it super interesting.

Tom Gray: Knife skills - I attended the course led by John and Michaela, coming into it with some knowledge but poor technique. The course is well planned and run. We learned a variety of techniques for all sorts of different shapes and sizes of vegetables and meat. I left with greater confidence in how to do things quickly, efficiently and safely than when I started. Highly recommended. Xxxxxx

Jessica Ryan: Loved the fish and shellfish course! Great for learning techniques and recipes I wouldn’t have tried. John was a great instructor. Would definitely go back and try other courses.

Zahra Rose: Such a beautiful start and stories of the origins of the school. Very knowledgeable staff members and teachers. Top spec equipment, clean environment, hygiene taken very seriously and Betty environmentally aware and friendly in all aspects, great location, 10/10 for teaching styles and attention to detail! Loved every moment. Thank you for having me!

Olivia Allen: What a great class! Teacher was amazing, funny, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. We learnt so much in about 3.5 hours, ate so many tasty things, and got loads to take home! I am an avid baker but certainly learnt a lot of new things, though I think it is also very beginner friendly too.Couldn't recommend enough and I will certainly be booking another class with the Cookery School. Thank you!

Katarina Punovuori: Such a wonderful cookery school tucked away near Oxford Circus tube station. Did the Essential Vegetarian course as a novice cook and learnt so much. Staff were very knowledgeable, helpful and practical which really helped with learning. Leaving with a selection of new favourite recipes and enthusiasm for good food. Highly recommend for anyone interested in trying their hand at cooking!EDIT: Have now also attended the knife skills workshop. This was more focused on technique and practicing skills. Very useful and enjoyable! Highly recommend!

Nicolas Kokkinos: I left stuffed to the gills on this fish cooking course. Absolutely a joy learning about how to cook different kinds of fish and various different sauces. Loved it - and John the instructor was so engaging.

Nik Miranthis: Did the fantastic fish course- it was fantastic

Amanda Ramirez: Excellent course!I learned loads.Thank you John, your wisdom, skill and energy was much appreciated.Amanda

Henna A: I was gifted a gift voucher to attend the knife skills class, John was a brilliant teacher. The class was fun, informative and to the point. We also got to eat the lunch we help made - which was delicious. I would definitely recommend this class.

Sacha Palmer: Such an amazing class - I went for the knife skill course and I was really impressed. Great tips and quality food. I highly highly recommend!!

Rupert Clark: Just done the knife skills class. Just super - really good fun and I learned so many ways to make my cooking faster and easier!

Jeremy Gilbert: I did the knives skills class and learnt alot. The teacher was really good and the practical experiences were broad and useful! The lunch was excellent as well. I would highly recommend.

Anya Clarkson: An absolutely fantastic session - I did the one day Spanish home cooking lesson and learnt so much. The recipes were easy to follow and John did a wonderful job of explaining everything. I learnt so many new skills and the food tasted amazing. So lovely to sit down with a glass of wine at the end and enjoy the product of my labours!

mirela stoica: I attended at the Absolute Beginners, I’m so glad i bought this course, we learned new techniques and how to use different ingredients. John is an amazing chef, he wouldn't let us leave the building until we had memorized everything he taught us. Thank you John. Highly recommend!Ps: After Absolute beginners course , I also bought The Ultimate Fish and Shellfish, and Spain Home cooking classes 😊😁

Aliya Panju: The absolute beginners course here was phenomenal. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. The course teaches you multiple cooking skills but most importantly you’ll learn how to cut onions and garlic properly. So I would highly recommend doing a course/ class since this was a great experience.

You get to cook quite a lot of different dishes and styles of cooking which is great. The chef was very knowledgeable and entertaining and the two guys helping out in the back were super lovely and very quick and tidying up. Eleanor Stone: My sister and I enjoyed a great vegan baking class. I can't believe we made so much and had it all to take away with us! Even though I've done a lot of baking, I still learnt lots - Richard is very knowledgeable and entertaining. Only thing I would change - if we had got the carrot cake in the oven sooner, before he explained the other bakes, it would have had longer to cool and the icing wouldn't have melted on the way home!

Dawn: What a fabulous cookery school! We really enjoyed the fish class...Richard was super knowledgeable, good fun & taught us loads!

David Attwell Thomas: My partner and I went along to a Sunday morning donut making class and had a great time - the school is lovely, really well taught and all the folk working there were very kind and helpful.

Tom Heinink: An absolutely brilliant evening with Rich and his team. Learnt how to make a range of tapas, drank a lot of wine, and ate a delicious meal. Highly recommended!

Tom Gooding: Fabulous school. Family run business that offers informative, fun, social and great value classes. The facility in Wandsworth is a brilliantly equipped kitchen in an easily accessible location. I would, and regularly do highly recommend them to friends and family! Thank you guys

They always create a lovely atmosphere and able to tailor to individual needs so even if you are more experienced in the kitchen you come away with real pro tips. He also makes sure that he spends time with everyone therefore you truly benefit from the feedback and adjustments. You’ll have a great time, amazing food and drinks and will come away with lots of new skills that you can put into practice straight away.

Lucy Carter: we headed to the beautiful teaching kitchen, which has a lovely, comforting atmosphere. Despite being in a class of strangers, everyone was soon chatting to each other and there was no awkwardness—something I was a little worried about beforehand! We started cooking right away, beginning with antipasti and soon getting started on preparing our main courses. Although you're cooking as a group, you always have something to do and are never just standing around watching others have all the fun. The whole process was brilliant, with tons of advice offered throughout that can be applied to cooking beyond the recipes we made during the class.Once everything was made we sat down to eat at the dining table. It was so nice to be able to share in what we'd made in such a friendly and comfortable setting, and not to brag but we made some *very* good food. I left feeling inspired to try new recipes, and to replicate some of the dishes we made at home.Thank you to Charlotte and the team for such a brilliant day, and I hope to come back again!

tone Rietig: which thankfully can be recreated at home,

Le Cordon Bleu London: what do users think?

Ls Chan: The Le Cordon Bleu Cafe is a good place to rest your feet & enjoy a cup of coffee after visiting the British Museum. The blue berry pastry is very tasty - would definitely been better if it’s just out from the oven! Friendly Service too.

Juliana Albuquerque: Pleasant atmosphere and delicious brunch

Adam Lewis: The Tastes of Asia course was lots of fun, & terrific number of tips & techniques that reasly improve your cooking! Chef Marco & Chef Colin were brilliant!

Nikolas Cruz: I really like it and also loved it the way how they teach

Alexey Subach: Cheese and wine pairing event was nice, there were 6 kinds of cheese and 6 kinds of wine. The sommelier was a bit late and overall we only tried the first pair at the end of the first hour and therefore had to rush a little bit in the second hour to try the rest of the pairs. The sommelier told us a lot of information about the cheese and wine and it was great that he had a screen where he could Google and show us some pictures. There were no extraordinary pairings but I liked most of the cheese and a couple of wines. The building and room itself were a bit old-fashioned while they present themselves as the state of the art building

Sherry Zhao: How can the work of Le Cordon Bleu students not taste good? Praise 👍

David Ramboux: Out of the bustle, an oasis of calm and taste. Perfect

Terry Graves: Excellent service and food

Itzhak Bekerman: Excellent coffee and cakes

Bob S: We visited cafe only. Good coffee and desserts. Outside sitting in a small courtyard.

Shourov Hossain: Positive:Value

Charlie Fitzgerald: I loved getting creative on this professional patisserie and confectionery course. I had always wanted the chance to have hands-on experience learning this specialist skill. This was my moment to try. I found the chef who taught us to be very knowledgeable. They had a lot of experience and would guide us when we ever got stuck. Since finishing the course, I have now developed my own portfolio of stunning delicious patisseries.

Ursula Duplock: I really rated this course! I had a great idea to run my own restaurant but did not know how to develop my ideas to meet industry standards. I found the Chef Academy London ?Hospitality Management and Food Science? course to be super helpful! They talk you through all the processes from staff management, suppliers, stock checks, health and safety, recipe development, hospitality standards, customer service and much more!

Amy Auker: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueI was impressed with the ingredients provided by Chef Academy London. Eric Smith: Thank you to the wonderful team at Chef Academy London! They helped us and supported us through the course, and were there if we needed anything. Info Cultiva Kingdom: If you are looking to be a Michelin Star chef, this is the best place to do your training. I have had a few years in the kitchen but this course has provided me with in-depth culinary knowledge and confidence to take my career to the next stage…. I am very glad I had the chance to experience a Michelin Star standard to develop my own skill set to be an advanced professional chef.

Gabriel Mihaila: My journey at Chef Academy had been the greatest despite being affected by this pandemic which I’m sure the school has too. I think like all schools they provide the basics for new learners and an introduction to the industry of fine dining, but for someone that wanted to advance my career they mentored me to achieve the skillset required that allowed me to branch out to a different area within the world of culinary. Even in universities they require you to think outside of the box and this academy is the same. We are encouraged to self-study and proactively seek ideas to improve our skills and techniques to get to where we want as a Chef. At the end of the day it’s all about our passion to learn about the culinary world. The internship stage is a big part where you learn how various fine dining restaurants operate in reality. The only hiccup is this pandemic delayed my final placement but still, the school tried their best to place me in my first choice and I have built friendships there and inspired to try new methods to achieve different results.I have to praise the best part is after graduation where the school tries to provide you the best options for employment and they try to match your requirements and not the other way around which is very rare because most schools won’t really try to help as much. They mentor you along the way and explain to you how to showcase your best abilities at the trial shifts and how to read between the lines of the job description.I am not saying the school is 100% perfect, but I want to provide you my personal experience on how the school has gone over and beyond in getting me to where I am today. I am now a Private Chef and started my own business during this pandemic. The school is still mentoring me in my journey and believe me all you got to do is keep in contact and ask for advice when you need because I believe their passion is to help you achieve where you want to be in the culinary world.
