Forbidden Planet London Megastore: what do users think?

Mrs Armada: Wow so many books and collectibles. My teens wanted to sleep over there. Good wide range of books and comics. Good pricing. Lovely friendly staff. Low ceiling not for the claustrophobic. Behaved dogs allowed. Quick line for payment. No parking. Paid £23 for parking.

Chris Kellett: Very bright, spacious store with a good range of stuff to browse. There are more comics than merchandise, but there’s still a good range of stuff. There tends to be a good price range of items for a particular subject, meaning if you’re looking for a specific shows merch you’ll likely find something on the cheaper and more expensive ends of the scale.

Jon Bayless: Wow, I was surprised how much there is to see here. Tons of comics and books but also a lot of fun items on display and people watching here is great. Check it out! Good prices too with lots of things on sale if you keep an eye out.

Charlie Hobbs: Far too many to mention but Dr Who, Star Wars and all the mainstream SciFi is well represented but also lots of more niche items and characters get a look in. Upstairs (ground floor) for figures, posters, statues and t-shirts, downstairs (basement) for books, games and comics. Good prices, lots of variety. Does get crowded though.

Charlotte Wolff: THE place to go for nerds. If you are into comics, get some of the 2 £ grab bags in the basement. Great value. Also go to the sales corner. You can get great books for up to 80% off.

Matilde Tusberti: Best place to get gifts for your nerd friends, or just treat yourself!Cards, comics, mangas, statues, gadgets from tv series/movies and anything you want for roleplay games!

田神舞莉: Great selection of graphic novels, comics and manga (even having some full sets which I was surprised with). Even though the store is small, there is lots to look at. They even have prints on offer to buy!

Sian: I really enjoyed this quaint little comic shop, me and my friend were browsing to see if there was any different shops to look at and decided to have a look. I love that the shop has its own unique style of advertisement and has a downstairs for even more mangas and comics for more browsing. Definitely different but lovely establishment.

Kenn Andersen: Nice comic store, always visit when in London, and have done so from back when it was located across from British Museum. Cool single issue department in the basement.

Elle Mac: Absolutely amazing selection. I was so impressed with how many different books, comics and genres they had. There is a good kid section, as well. I got a horror manga book here and already have finished it! Great quality of authors I’ve not heard of and I’m excited to return!

isle wight: Thank you Gosh for hosting Mark Buckingham for the Miracleman signing...and thank you Mark for the amazing sketch you drew for my daughter. Another fine additional to our collection :)

Cady Nasr: For all the comics lovers that is your place in London - such a nice library full of amazing comics books, posters and gadgets - a Must visit if you are like comics

Geek Retreat Holloway: what do users think?

Gioele Massimo Guzzo: I went in for the first time, and it felt so welcoming like anyone could be allowed to enter. The space and the time that must have been dedicated to the shop made the atmosphere electric with cards and packs everywhere. Furthermore, the back of the room was the best part as it gave the visitors the chance to play together. Staff was friendly and patient, they were super kind and helped with everything. Definitely a top shop I have been to so far. The cafe was really good and to be fair was probably better than McDonald’s, I think that every aspect of the shop was 10/10, 5 stars. Definitely recommend.

Jose Rodriguez Ledesma: Great place to hang out with friends, play retro videogames, board games or trading card games like "Magic: The Gathering" "Yu-Gi-Oh!" and more. Great place a role playing game meetings. All of this while having a nice burger or milkshake. The staff is really friendly and welcoming. 100% recommended. Just waiting for TGC tournaments. It will be exciting.
Response: Thanks Jose, Lovely to hear you have enjoyed our menu and services! Tournaments will be back soon! Geek Retreat London Holloway Team 💜💛

Sean W: Please, any reservations you have about getting into your chosen geeky hobby, pop into Holloway GR and they won’t last. Lovely staff, lovely communities based here, have never had a bad time. Would love some air con and, selfishly, the ability to buy booze, but these are minor understandable quibbles in an otherwise great spot. Great range of everything you’d expect from warhammer to Pokémon cards. Pop in and enjoy!

Robin Ashurst: I absolutely love this place! The team that runs the shop is fantastic, all really friendly, welcoming and super knowledgeable. Always looking forward to my next time!

Phil Burlingame: Great place, Played MTG Commander for hours and there we plenty of people to play with. I knew no one there as I was visiting from out of country and everyone was welcoming from staff to other customers.

Davon Quinn: Cool place to visit and will be good go to the MTG tournament on Sunday

Mega City Comics: what do users think?

James Bacon: Excellent comic store. I visited as they have bought in Brian Bolland personal comic collection and were selling some very unusual and unexpected comics at reasonable prices. The Bolland collection is sublime, he is as much an artist as a fan with items signed to him from a variety of people. The shop is well stocked with considerable quantities of back issues and the gang are worth asking for specific titles. Martin, Josh and Jack are quietly pleasant, engaging as required and knowledgeable in comics. Definitely worth a visit.

patrick jacobs: Mega City Comics is like a wonderland of comics if you love comics that is. The shop is located in the heart of Camden not far from the station on Inverness street. Not only can you shop for comics on this road but it has some great restaurants and a classic record shop where you can buy vinyls “nice” so you can brush off the record player and read some old comics. The shop has been open since 1987 that’s around 35 years “wow” they sell classics and modern collectibles, Batman, superman, Spider-Man and a great range of Manga and loads more, I mean how many of us wish we owned the first ever superman comic now? You can browse for ages in this fully stocked shop, I bought a comic book about bob Marley’s life just because it looked so unique plus I love Bib Marley of course. They really, really have a massive range and it’s so great to see some of the great classic comic drawings close up. The owner has been into selling comics for over 40 years, at the counter you might be lucky enough to be served by Josh he is an expert in all things comic (official comic geek) they are priceless, and can be found only in this shop, he goes on to tell me that the owner has probably forgotten more than most people will ever learn about comics. All in all this a a fantastic and unique shop and definitely worth a visit.

Nasim Chowdhury: This place is amazing! I’ve been here multiple times getting the oldest to the latest titles of comics. I live quite close to the story and normally stop by to have a browse of the huge collection they have. Whenever I need cheering up I come to MegaCityComcis it’s like a second home to me and the vibe as you enter the store just makes you feel happy. It would be a dream to work here!
Response: Hi Nasim. Thank you so much for your kind words. We are over joyed that you feel so at home here. It is an atmosphere all the team work hard to create. We look forward to seeing you again soon

alana godfrey: Veey good selection. Every time i come to Camden, i come here because they stock pokemon card boosters. They also offer bundles of comic issues in sequential order which is super useful, and always at very reasonable prices.

Yun Chen XIAO: The two young lads at the counter of the shop are by far the friendliest, most polite staffs I have ever met in comic bookstores. I have PTSD from a rude racist comic bookstore owner in Edinburgh, and I was actually looking for manga so I hesitated if I should enter this store in the first place. But the two young lads greeted me at the moment I stepped into the store and explained the manga restock issue to me with patience. They made me feel being respected as a customer during my visit, so I will definitely give this place five star for their nice attitude. Will certainly pay this place a visit again in the future.

OrganTv12: A large comic store with a wide selection of different comics and nice staff. But the manga section is very small. Worth visiting if you are a comic fan but not worth if you are looking only for manga.

allan claydon: Super cool shop! Fantastic use of space to fit in an incredible large range of hobbies and games in one place Covered the major games like MTG and DND but lots of other board and card games Great location means very friendly for nerdy shoppers like myself with fantastic food options nearby

Rachal Shore: One of my favourite board game shops. It has so much variety packed into a small shop. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Eleanor Cripps: Always have a great time in this shop, brilliant selection of games etc with friendly + helpful staff

Daniel Cairns: A great selection not games, D&D books, pathfinder and other tabletop RPGs.There are also D&D miniatures available and paints too.Staff are lovely, down to earth and friendly.

Sam Chittick: Quite a large selection for such a small space. Staff were very friendly. Decent amount of 1/56 historical figures and rulebooks for Bolt Action, Black Powder, etc.

Nathan Jensen: We wandered into this game shop as we were walking around London. Great ambiance and a good selection of board games and RPGs. They packed a lot of fun in a small space. The DnD expert in our family was satisfied with their offerings.

Notting Hill Comic Exchange: what do users think?

Hélène C: Lots of choice, not just comics. Good prices; found a novel translated from Spanish for £3, a French comic for £4, and a beautiful indie graphic novel for £7 (normally worth £13) A bit narrow so glad I went on a Monday - it probably is much busier on evenings and weekends!

Dario Grazioli: Tiny but super cool place. It has been there for ages and the price range never changed. From 1£ to +10£ you can find everything from comic books to books and art books.

Cleaver Patterson: Ok. I’m all for giving a place a second chance, so I thought I’d return to Notting Hill Comic Exchange today, even though my last experience a month ago was less than impressive. After today though I realise why I shouldn’t have. I went in (around 12 / 12.30 pm) and had a brief look around - there was nothing of much interest and anything that was was way overpriced. Anyway after about five minutes the guy behind the counter suddenly announced out of no where that he was surprised to see me back. After I’d established that he was actually speaking to me, he launched into me, saying that he was surprised I’d bothered coming back after what I’d said about the shop the previous time I was in. I was so taken aback by his behaviour that I didn’t react much (I wish I had) and after another couple of awkward minutes I got out as quick as I could. Once out I decided to look again at my previous review just to check what was so bad in what I’d said. On reflection I was perhaps a little harsh in my wording, but I certainly said nothing that wasn’t true or offensive in speech. Indeed my only harsh comments the previous time were really about the staff and their preoccupation with raving it up - maybe what I’d said hit a nerve! I definitely think the management should have a word with the guy who was serving in the shop today (about 12.15 pm) about his customer service skills (or lack of them) as his behaviour will only loose them customers. Anyway nothing I’d said then or now could have warranted the way I was spoken to today. I have worked in retail for many years and if I treated customers like I’ve been treated, I wouldn’t be in a job for very long. I won’t say more, other than this really is the last time I’ll be back. It a shame as over the years I have spent hundreds of pounds in the various Notting Hill Exchange shops. But unfortunately I won’t be back again.

oliver bolger: I have been to this store many times. They have a grate selection of comics new and old and the staff are really nice and helpful.whenever i renter this store I always leave with a handful of exiting comics

James Rodrigues: A well priced, well stocked shop full of books, manga, and comics and run by helpful staff. Recommended.

B Sassoon-Hales: Amazing comic book shop! Everything is well organised! Amazing stock at amazing prices! Staff were very helpful and I can’t wait to come back for more! Picked up 39 comics as I travel from wales so I buy in bulk and I couldn’t of been happier!

Ty'Ma Kyng (Marvel At Ty'Ma): Always. A great friendly service. I mostly by marvel legends and comics. Great staff always enthusiastic and willing to search for out of stock and order if they can.

Blitz Tek (Tek Support): Great Forbidden Planet store in Croydon. Easy to find on the high street. Loads of comics, figures, cards, collectors items to find. Unfortunately just one floor, just a rather big floor. Smaller than the London Store. Good customer service!

Captain Elizabeth: This Forbidden Planet is fantastic! The shop itself is fairly small but it’s really well stocked! I never leave empty handed. I absolutely adore the staff, they are so helpful, friendly and full of knowledge about the items they are selling. 5 stars all the way as it’s always a pleasure visiting Forbidden planet in Croydon.

kane and harley: Awesome shop and staff!! My favorite shop!!! The staff will go out of there way to help me.

Monique Johnson: Very good shop! The staff member Ash that helped me was brilliant, I came in to see what Manga they had for my son and he recommended several titles, which were all brilliant and on buy 2 get 1 free. Very polite and pleased staff took the time to help me.

Daniel Wilkes: Really helpful staff and lots of different merch, comics and graphic novels.

Andy Grout: Not as big as the central London one but lots of good marvel stuff.

Aaron Tyler: A fun place to visit. Not the biggest of FP stores, but you can still find some great finds here and they have a large selection of newly released comics on hand. While in most cases I order stuff online because I can find it cheaper and it better suits my budget, I have made some great finds here in there sale items and would recommend this place.

Mark Southwell-Legg: I don’t come to London often, and just came across this shop by chance. What an amazing shop, great selection and prices. I came away with a Dragonball Z statue. Super chuffed! Staff were also really friendly. If I’m in the neighbourhood again I’ll pop in 😄
